Ozen Reserve Bolifushi, South Male Atoll

I went Bolifushi resort for the Honeymoon and we had an excellent experience here. Especially, we went to the Sangu bar everyday after snorkeling and our kind friend Khai and Nishan invited us to the cocktail class. And there, I had one of the greatest experience. The ‘Khai special’ cocktail was the best one I’ve ever tasted, and they told me how to make it. It was definitely incredible experience, and they even sent us a certificate! If I ever get a chance to revisit Maldives, I would say I will come to Bolifushi again and meet Khai and Nishan😊

At the beginning, we were welcomed at the airport lounge, where we waited for about 30 minutes. The lounge offered all kinds of drinks, completed our check-in, and transferred our luggage to the boat. The boat was clean, with excellent air conditioning, and the trip took around 30 minutes. We were greeted in the traditional and beautiful Maldivian way, with coconut drinks and a warm welcome with flowers. Our butler, Obi, was very responsive, always punctual, and prepared a customized schedule for us. He offered to adjust it as needed and gave us a tour of the island. We stayed in the villa with a slide, without the additional upper room. The villa was spacious, bright, and beautiful, with a comfortable bed, amazing outdoor seating, and direct access to the sea, which was a lot of fun. All needed gear was available — we got our snorkeling set from Obi. Housekeeping cleaned the villa twice daily, and drinks and ice buckets were provided upon request. ⸻ Restaurants: For breakfast, there were two restaurants (to my knowledge), both delicious — International and Arabic. Personally, I preferred the International one: it was spacious, allowed you to order anything, and had an indoor air-conditioned area. Lunch was served at the same two places. Dinner experiences: • Arabic: 4/5 • Indian: 4/5 • European: 4/5 • Asian: 3/5 All were excellent overall, even the Asian one, though I’m not a fan of seafood, which may explain my lower rating. ⸻ Activities: We tried snorkeling and kayaking, which were part of the package. The Jet Ski activity was a bit expensive — $267 for 30 minutes. In general, activity pricing was exaggerated, but that seems to be the norm across islands. ⸻ Shops: The shops on the island were nice and varied, though some products were overpriced. ⸻ Areas for Improvement: • Renovating the indoor pool in the villa • The villa’s orientation didn’t offer ideal views for sunrise or sunset • The checkout lounge while waiting for the boat was small and slightly gloomy ⸻ Final Ratings: • Restaurants & Food: 4.5 / 5 • Cleanliness: 4.5 / 5 • Beach & Sea: 4.5 / 5 • Pool: 2.5 / 5 • Staff: 5 / 5 • Overall Experience: 4 / 5

After checking out at 12 PM, we were waiting near the guest reception beside Sangu Beach Bar, with nothing much to do before our 11 PM flight. It was a bit of a lonely, quiet afternoon — until Khai noticed us and kindly brought us fresh watermelon juice.||We weren’t even sure if we were still eligible for any All-Inclusive service, but his warm gesture truly made our day. I even mentioned I was a little hungry, and Khai smiled and said, "I don't like seeing guests go hungry." Then, he brought us a strawberry smoothie, a small selection of fruits, and some nuts.||Khai's kindness and attentiveness brought so much comfort to our final hours on the island. It meant more than words can say. Thank you, Khai — your hospitality left a beautiful memory to end our trip with. 🌺

We’re a newlywed couple currently staying at Ozen Reserve Bolifushi Resort, and we had an absolutely fantastic experience at Sangu Bar!||We initially just stopped by for a drink, but Khai and Nisan made our day absolutely unforgettable by giving us a hands-on cocktail making experience.||Both Khai and Nisan were incredibly welcoming, professional, and passionate about their craft. They patiently taught us the art of cocktail making, explaining each ingredient and technique with such enthusiasm. It felt like we were learning from true masters of mixology! The experience was so much more than just making drinks - it was interactive, fun, and created beautiful memories for our honeymoon.||The cocktails we made (with their expert guidance, of course) were absolutely delicious, and the atmosphere at Sangu Bar is simply perfect for couples. The service was exceptional, and both Khai and Nisan went above and beyond to make sure we had an amazing time.||We're so grateful to have stumbled upon Sangu Bar and to have met such wonderful people. This cocktail making experience has definitely become one of the highlights of our Maldives honeymoon!||Thank you so much, Khai and Nisan, for making our evening so special. I had the distinct pleasure of staying at Ozen Bolifushi for seven wonderful days. Every detail was perfect: from the accommodations in our over-water pool suite, to the attentive service, the food and beverage quality and spa experiences! ||I can’t say enough about the kind and thoughtful service we received! A special shout-out to our amazing Butler, Iboo. He was impeccable throughout our entire stay. Iboo thought of every detail, was there to make every aspect of our stay perfect. In addition to Iboo’s responsiveness and handling every detail of the day, he has an incredibly kind and thoughtful way about him. For instance, one afternoon as we were being transferred from our villa to dining or the pool area via his buggy, I dropped my phone and it flew out of the cart. Iboo stopped the buggy and ran out after it. Another day during a heavy rain, we were headed to breakfast, and one of his colleagues was walking toward the spa in the heavy rain. Iboo stopped and offered her a ride to join us, offering shelter from the downpour to make her travel more comfortable.||It’s that sort of kindness and heartfelt generosity that transform an experience and leave a deep and lasting impression! ||I want to also compliment the chefs and food and beverage team. My travel companion has food allergies and prefers a more plain dining option such as grilled steak and masked potatoes, no seasoning. ||Even in the beautiful restaurants on property, featuring various international flavors, they were happy to accommodate her preferences, even when it required obtaining supplies from a separate kitchen. I’ve never seen the kind of thoughtfulness and professionalism as this team!||We loved every single part of our stay, and every single staff member we came across. ||Thank you Ozen Bolifushi! We look forward to returning again soon!

Our honeymoon at Ozen Reserve Bolifushi was truly special. The resort is beautiful and our ocean villa was a lovely retreat.||Also the exceptional care we received, especially from our butler, Karakat, made our trip stand out!||She was always attentive and handled our requests efficiently. One early morning, my husband accidentally scraped his foot. We contacted Karakat and she responded quickly with soothing lotion which was super helpful. :)||Karakat and the team ensured our honeymoon was relaxing and filled with cherished moments. Their efforts to make us feel welcome were evident throughout our stay. We hope to visit again soon!

We are visiting the Maldives for the first time, and a lot of time an effort goes into researching which island and resort to pick. I chose to look at Travel & Leisure Awards for Asia 2024. Also we looked at villas that offered slides into the ocean, which narrows the selection a bit. We chose Ozen Reserve Bolifushi because of its water villas. I am writing this review while still being on the island, because we are absolutely blown away. For the life of me I do not understand how Ozen Reserve Bolifushi is not in the top 10 list of the best resorts in the Maldives or Top 10 list of the best family resorts in the Maldives. Our first destination was a top 10 property and Ozen is 20x better!! It all starts at the airport where you guided by friendly people to their lounge in the airport, you are then boarded on their luxury catamaran for a 35min trip guided by great staff telling you along the way what you are seeing. When you arrive on the jetty you receive a very warm welcome by the staff, and this is when you meet your Hiyani. You Hiyani is described as being your shadow, and trust me he is exactly that. Moosa was our Hiyani, and that man was absolutely incredible!! He made our stay so enjoyable and pleasant, I can not express how grateful we are for his work. We even had a slight medical situation which was attended to in the space of 15min! Moosa was/is fantastic but I'm pretty sure the other Hiyanis are as well because all staff were incredible, doing everything they can to make your stay a memorable one. This resort is where memories for a lifetime is created. Som ran Vista flawlessly, along with the staff. Leroy the resort manager is always about greeting everyone, making sure all guests feel at home. Nancy made sure our dinner at Origine was amazing with her humor and service, highly recommend btw. I forget the names of the others, for that please excuse me. But the staff at the kids club were amazing, the chef and server at our dinner and movie were just as amazing as well. This resort is fantastic for families. We stayed at the 2 bedroom Reserve Over Water Villas, and the villa was/is beautiful. It was kept prestine by the staff. It's one of those you have to see it or experience it to know what I'm talking about. You are not going to bore yourself here, if you are one of those that can't sit still and need activities. A wealth of choices here to choose from, including a mini submarine. I have absolutely nothing bad to say about this resort, and I am usually picky. If they had a loyalty programme I would sign up right away, because I would like to try their Earth pool Reserve villas and I would request Moosa as my Hiyani when we return. My tips, pick the Reserve Villas if you can, if you choose the 2 bedroom overwater reserve villas with slide pick 801 for uninterrupted views. Head over to Makana Beach on the resort for the feeling of total seclusion. Thank you Ozen Reserve Bolifushi for creating memories for a lifetime and see you again soon. UPDATE: The amazing service continues upon arrival in the airport as staff is there to greet you, and help you check in. Zemeel was fantastic, in helping us on our way.
