Where to Eat Seafood in San Diego

"The first Southern California seafood outpost of this popular San Francisco restaurant chain landed in the Westfield UTC mall, serving up wild-caught and sustainably-raised seafood. With a focus on fish, customers can order pokes, ceviches, sushi “tacos,” and fish burgers like the popular Viet Hot Fish. More San Diego locations are in the works." - Helen I. Hwang

New San Diego Restaurants and Bars That Have Opened During the Pandemic | Eater San Diego

"At Westfield UTC, Pacific Catch debuted its first Southern California location in a 4,500-square-foot space with two dining patios and an open kitchen; the menu highlights core favorites like ceviche tacos, ahi poke bombs, and bowls and salads built with greens, grains, and proteins ranging from seared shrimp to grilled tofu, plus a full bar pouring tropical cocktails such as a Mai Tai and a Painkiller." - Candice Woo

Bay Area’s Pacific Catch Fish House Expanding to San Diego | Eater San Diego

"I'm reporting that Pacific Catch, a well-established Bay Area “West Coast Fish House” with 11 locations, is expanding into Southern California with its first San Diego restaurant at Westfield UTC as part of the new development at the former Sears site near the intersection of Towne Centre Drive and La Jolla Village Drive. The chain is a member of Seafood Watch and the James Beard Smart Catch programs and emphasizes both wild-caught and sustainably-raised seafood via a “wave to table” menu that ranges from sushi, poke, and ceviche to tacos, burgers, and grilled fish plates. Currently scheduled for an early summer opening, the Westfield UTC outpost will feature three different outdoor dining patios and an open-air cocktail bar. Pacific Catch is actively looking for more locations in San Diego County and, according to Steve Kelly, the company’s VP of Marketing, plans to open three locations in the area." - Candice Woo

Tried this place for the 1st time for lunch and dang, it was good! The lunch special Chilean fish tacos were very fresh, not fishy in any way, light, solid, tender, perfectly cooked and seasoned and add a little hot sauce for spicy and simply melt in your mouth as is dances across your taste buds -perfectly. I was pleasantly surprised. The black beans were good to. My friend enjoyed the lunch Salmon plate, the fish was also very good, not very fatty or greasy, perfectly cooked, tender and easily flaked apart, they provided 2 sauces to try (sorry, forgot which, 1 was green and amazing the other brown and good), with blanched asparagus. Staff were all very nice, happy, and helpful. Looking forward to going back and try other items.

Google
Food was good and reasonably priced. The ambiance is great and the drinks are strong. My husband got the tacos and enjoyed them. Don't expect taco shop fish tacos, these are elevated and the fish is great quality. I got the luau bowl and it was a huge portion that I can split into two meals easily.

Our server Olivia and General Manager Debbie were outstanding!!! And the food was excellent!!We ordered the coconut shrimp and Sticky Ribs for appetizers, along with the Fish & Chips and Seafood Combo for main courses which came with slaw and salads. The photo shows what was left…great experience and delicious food. Highly recommend!!!

Google
We are visiting family in San Diego, California and for dinner decided to try Pacific Catch located at the UTC Mall. The restaurant is very clean, bright, welcoming, and modern. As a starter, we shared the coconut shrimp. I ordered a sea bass dish with mashed potatoes, broccolini, and a blood orange lemonade. All of our dishes/orders were good. Our server Colton was very helpful, when deciding what to order. He made suggestions to compliment my sea bass, and I am satisfied with the choices I selected. Colton was very patient and helpful.

Google
A great place for seafood! I’m a vegetarian whereas my partner isn’t and still this had tons of options for me too! Food : My partner ordered tacos and I ordered eggplant and both were delicious. The seafood was overall quite fresh Service : It was great just a bit slow. There were only four parties which were there and two servers yet it took forever for someone to come and help. Nevertheless sweet staff Atmosphere: The decor inside and outside patio is really nice. In summers not my favourite to sit outside as it’s too hot 🥵

Google
Pacific Catch was a great corner location at the mall that had pretty decent food. However, major deductions for the following: Bar had no blender and couldn’t make mixed drinks. My seat was constantly jostled by the person behind me because they were properly to the ground. Service was atrocious. Alex, our server failed to give us napkins/utensils, didn’t give my spouse her drink she ordered and she rarely checked on us and was delayed with our check. Would not return.

Google
Pacific Catch is an amazing seafood restaurant that truly delivers on flavor, freshness, and value. The menu offers a variety of creative dishes that blend global inspiration with the freshest catch of the day. One dish you absolutely must try is the Mexican Grill – packed with bold flavors, grilled to perfection, and served with delicious sides. It’s a standout! The ambiance is relaxed yet vibrant, service is friendly, and parking is easily available – a big plus in this area. If you’re in the mood for fresh, flavorful seafood at a fair price, Pacific Catch is the place to go. Highly recommended!

Google
The Japanese Wasabi Bowl is delicious!! I subbed the Ahi Tuna for salmon and didn't expect it to be grilled, but it was amazing regardless 😋 Our cutlery was also dirty at the start with old food, but staff quickly replaced these with much cleaner utensils. Great service 😊

Yelp
MUST TRY!!!!! Amazing happy hour and a menu full of delicious options. Ever since I found this gem at the UTC mall, I can't stay away! The bartenders are always so welcoming and attentive, which makes dining at the bar my go-to. It does get busy during happy hour, but that just shows how good it is! Fresh food, healthy protein-packed choices, and a rewards program that's totally worth signing up for if you come often. I am making it my goal to try everything on the menu... so far my favorites are the summer special sea bass, the steak taco from happy hour, the salmon bowl, and ceviche! I can't wait to try more

Yelp
I am not a complainer, but feel obligated to be "true to the review" for the benefit of others. Our visit here was so very disappointing: * We have understanding that our server was new (he told us), but in the event that there is a question you cannot answer for sure, guessing would not be recommended - we had never had barramundi sea bass but love Chilean sea bass. We asked the server if the two are comparable and he said, "most definitely." After eating, we realized the two are nothing alike (the barramundi tastes like a cheaper type fish, like cod). Additionally, the barramundi serving size was definitely unsatisfactory, the thickness almost like a McDonald's (regular) hamburger patty - thin, and it was cooked too long or too hot, the entire piece of fish was actually crispy (not good for this type of fish) * This restaurant, on the outskirts of the open mall, is an open door restaurant, both large doors propped open. We were somewhat disturbed with all of the flies and gnats that were bothering us, and wondered what the rear end cooking area must be like (with all the seafood and fish smells). * With one in the party not liking anything spicy hot, we asked if the guacamole was spicy. We were told, "no." As a spicy food lover myself, fortunately I was the first to try it, loaded with fresh (and very hot) jalapenos. This appetizer that was ordered for all but was only edible to one. * I am not sure if it was a cost saving measure, my salad came with barely a sprinkle of dressing, not enough to coat half of it. I had to ask for more and a half dollar sized mini-bowl of extra dressing was brought out. * My fish 'n chips was okay, but definitely nothing special - similar to what you could expect at most any standard diner (being "Pacific Catch" I expected better). Pacific Catch is not a "high end" restaurant, but is more so a "middle of the road" level restaurant. I say that, because the food was something similar to what you would expect at IHOP or Denny's, but we surely paid much more here. But I must say, the cocktails were really good, and we did enjoy them - Pacific Catch has a fully stocked bar and seemingly experienced bartenders - this bumps the rating to "two stars" instead of just one.

Yelp
Dining at a restaurant in a mall is always convenient with little ones because as an iPad-free family, we can take them outside for a stroll around the mall while waiting for the food to arrive. We ordered the guacamole and chips, steamed edamame, Korean ribs, fish taco platter, lobster and salmon sushi rolls (not pictured) everything was great for sharing, fresh and delicious! The restaurant decor was bright and clean and the indoor/outdoor patio was a nice and breezy for a fall dinner with family. The staff was helpful as we had a large party of 7 adults and 2 kids, we didn't have reservations on a Saturday night and didn't have to wait too long.

Yelp
Of all the restaurants we could have chosen at Westfield UTC, I chose one that I didn't enjoy what I ordered. Came here on a Sunday around noon and the place just had a sparse number of patrons for such a large establishment. Chose Pacific Catch mainly because my wife wanted to have a healthier meal though I would have chosen ramen or a smash burger. My wife got the salmon on the grill , seasoned with Asian herbs with a salad and Kim chee rice. Seeing that I wasn't craving for seafood (at a seafood joint), I opted for the Korean BBQ ribs with Kim chee rice and Brussels sprouts. So first thing I noticed it wasn't beef but PORK. And the ribs didn't have the Korean bbq taste I'm use to but had some generic southern style flavor that was trying to be Asian. It was mid. Portions was large but had that "straight from the freezer and cooked" taste. The Kim chee fried rice was clumpy, thick and I didn't enjoy it. The egg on top was good and helped eat some of the rice. There was a large amount of Brussels sprouts that would fill a separate entree. It was ok, it was topped with another sweet sauce that was fine but that wasn't supposed to be the focus of the order. I took home a lot of it to go but not sure whether I would eat it again but at least my dog can enjoy the bones. My meal- 2 stars Yeah, I probably chose the wrong item at a seafood place so take my review with a grain of salt. Would I come here again? Considering how many restaurants I still want to try at Westfield UTC, probably not

Yelp
Perfect for Happy Hour! We ordered the pupu platter, which was a great choice. It included everything I wanted to try: sticky ribs, coconut shrimp, and guaca-poke. We also ordered the Baja shrimp ceviche and taro chips with aioli. Everything was delicious and I especially appreciated that the ceviche had a generous amount of shrimp. The only miss was the taro chips, as the chips were a bit stale. The staff were attentive and friendly throughout our visit. I'd definitely come back again for the happy hour!

Yelp
Good place to come for happy hour with easy access and parking located outside of the mall itself. The happy hour menu is decent with several tasty libation and food options. The fish tacos are good and the poke and ceviche trio is a great way to sample their offerings. Service was attentive. The atmosphere was coastal casual but the a/c was really cranked up so it felt like sitting in a meat locker and made us want to hurry our meal.
google avatar

Annie D.

Yelp
Came for happy hour with the dog. We sat in the patio. Nice ambiance with coastal decor. Food wise it was hit and miss. See breakdown below. Would come back just for tacos during HH. Recommend: Coconut shrimp Fish taco Spicy steak taco Skip: Guaca-poke - combo didn't make individual components better Pork belly slider - bread was too soggy from pineapple Sea bass skewers - good but bland, needs a sauce Sticky ribs - too much sauce, could be more tender Macadamia crusted sea bass - crust became soggy with the peach chutney and salad piled on top Tempura shrimp roll - very dense, strong ginger flavor Guava-Rita - too sweet, tastes artificial

Yelp
Pacific Catch is a restaurant and open-air cocktail bar serving Aloha in their pacific menu that features Grains and Greens Bowls, Tacos, Fish & Chips, Wagyu and Fish Burgers, and a seasonal offering of fresh fish from the "Fresh Catch" menu. Yelp
I really enjoyed eating lunch here on a Saturday. I was able to find parking right in front of the restaurant and I really love how cute the aesthetic is of this place. Our server, Jordan was very attentive and made the experience.very nice . The piña colada I had was the best piña colada I've ever had. It was pure perfection. We shared the ceviche and poke appetizer. I can't wait to have that again. We also enjoyed the fish and chips and thought it was very good too.

Yelp
This was the second time coming here. The restaurant is located inside UTC mall and is welcoming. This occasion we sat at the high top tables near the bar, prior it was the outdoor patio area. The service started out good and we were met with a friendly host who sat us. We quickly were provided waters and menus. Eventually we met the server who also was bartending. The bar at this time was not very busy. We ordered some steak and cod tacos as well as the herb garlic eggplant. Overall they were decent and the fish were very generous in size. The steak could have used more salt and a little more meat. Unfortunately during the time our food arrived until we finished, we did not receive a check in from the server/bartender to see how everything was and if we needed anything else. Overall this experience wasn't the best and definitely not the worst.
google avatar

Yueming Q.

Yelp
Very nice happy hour menu. It features different types of foods, snacks and drinks. The price is pretty nice with various options. If you want to grab a nice drink or snacks with an affordable price. Here's the place to go! My husband had two glasses of Mai Tai and we had Thai Brussels and Ahi Poke, they are all pretty good.
google avatar

Jennifer L.

Yelp
I love that you don't have to wander around inside the mall to try to find this place. The entrance is right off the parking lot! Super cute outdoor seating area BUT it's right off the parking lot. I was sat quickly and my server came by at just the right time. He answered a couple of questions, took my order, and was on his way. He came back periodically to check on me but was never gone so long that I felt forgotten about. I ordered the taco platter with steak and shrimp and a side of sweet potato fries. Everything came out pretty quick. The tacos were good but they weren't as big as the server made them out to be. If you're pretty hungry you'll want to get 3. The black beans were ok, they weren't very flavorful and I wasn't a fan of the consistency. All in all I had a great experience and I would go back.
google avatar

David Z.

Yelp
Came here on a Wednesday for happy hour. Grabbed all the poke options and shared two drinks. The inside is very large and has plenty of seating. Service was prompt and friendly. The happy hour is a great deal. Highly recommend. You probably do not need reservations unless on weekends.
google avatar

Megan C.

Yelp
Came here for their "Aloha Hour" from 3-6pm and was pretty happy with their selection although it's still quite pricey for a happy hour. We ordered the Pupu platter which was a selection of things for $25. Everything was pretty tasty especially the poke guacamole, but the fish skewers were quite bland. I also got the guavarita for $9, which was a well made drink but again still pricey for a happy hour. The vibe here is really cute inside and they have a nice patio outside too. Service was pretty nice but our server did mess up on our receipt and overcharged for one of the pupu platters we got. Not sure if I would come back again unless it was during their happy hour for a work event.
google avatar

Kitty C.

Yelp
Came for a lunch meeting. Service was great, people were friendly and checked in multiple times. Very nice beach/sea decor. There was a glass bottle of water for you to refill your water which was very convenient. I'm not a huge fan of seafood so I opted for tacos. I had a fish taco and carne asada taco and they were both yummy. I ordered the chili lime French fries which was flavorful, but I think it would have tasted better with dipping sauce. Black beans were typical black beans. Great place for lunch, reasonable prices, parking took a bit to find but expect that at UTC mall.
google avatar

Shelly F.

Yelp
First time here and it won't be the last! Great experience, excellent food, friendly service. I had the grilled salmon bowl and I can't wait to go back and have it again. Super fresh, flavorful and tasty! Our server (I'm sorry I can't remember her name) was very friendly and helpful, gave recommendations and was prompt with drinks and refills. We sat on the patio and it was so pleasant...the whole place is clean and appealing to eye. This is a must do place for lunch next time I'm at UTC and I highly recommend.

Yelp
I used to be frequent diner at Pacific Catch but stopped going a few months ago after a few disappointing visits. My dinner mates chose PC for dinner so I met them there. We got there at 5:30 on a Friday. The parking lot and mall were busy but pleasantly surprised when we walked into PC and the atmosphere was relaxed and quiet. The menu has been thinned out a lot. Many of the items I would normally order were gone. I was a little sad to not see some items. Got the calamari and shrimp tempura roll for apps. Sushi roll was great. The calamari was ok even though I was hungry but definitely not the best I've had. I think they were over fried and a bit salty. I got the West Coast Style Bowl and my friends got the Mexican Grill Bowl and a Waygu Burger. The food all tasted so much better than before. I feel that with the more limited menu, the kitchen is better able to concentrate on quality. The Burger was juicy and perfectly medium, not burned like it had been in previous visits. The bowls were fresh and full of flavor. The fish was cooked perfectly and moist. Just beware that the Mexican Grill is a bit spicy if you don't want spicy. Also got a Thai iced tea. Strong and not too sweet but tasted a little off. Probably should have waited to get a boba across the way after dinner instead. I took a glance at the happy hour menu. It looks good but we were not sitting on the patio or the bar so we couldn't partake. But the dinner menu is still reasonably priced for good quality food at a sit down restaurant in the mall that's clean and has a nice vibe without loud music. I like that you can keep a conversation going here without obnoxious music or loud customers. I'm happy that things are better and I look forward to eating here again.
google avatar

Yelp
Great spot for lunch in the UTC mall. The bowls are fresh, healthy, flavorful, and can be made vegetarian which is awesome!

Yelp
I've eaten here many times and have basically ordered everything from the menu. My favorite thing to order that always taste good dining in or for take out is the 3 taco plate. I like to try the different tacos but my faves are the Baja fish, grilled fish and Baja shrimp tacos. I get it with a side of sweet potato fries and beans. They also have really yummy tortilla chips and wonton chips you can eat it with. My second favorite thing to order is the poke trio. It comes with 3 different kinds of poke and rice and all of them are so flavorful and yummy. I would eat them with chips too. Ambiance is cute as well. They have a wide bar place where you can try a lot of good happy hour food and drinks. I like that they offer indoor and outdoor seating and have cute fireplaces. It's great for big groups since theirs so much space. I've never had an issue with service. All of the waiters are very friendly and sweet. Sign up for their rewards too for discounts! You can earn points to redeem on food and they give you a birthday bowl for your bday which is rare for restaurants and what I think is so generous!!
google avatar

Tracy M.

Yelp
The food here is good. It's our first time eating here and the fish is hot and delicious. The mashed potatoes were perfect and we will be back again. It's a Tuesday and they're just a little bit busy. Our waitress is Megan E and she is amazing. It's noon and we are full now.
google avatar

Guy M.

Yelp
Come here about once a week. Great variety on the menu excellent service. Highly recommend the original poke bowl, the salmon bowl and the fish and chips. Ash is always super friendly and very attentive.
google avatar

Yelp
Good food, decent prices, nice indoor and outdoor seating, service was ok could do better but not bad. Good for lunch or dinner, ill be back when I'm in the area.

Yelp
I was cruising along the UTC area and felt like some seafood so I stopped by here. The place was busy as I walked in so that was a good sign. I ordered the Kanpachi with the Asian Herb Chimichurri. The sides I ordered were the Grilled Broccolini and the "Elote" Corn. The Kanpachi came out and tasted delicious! The "Elote" Corn was tasty, but the broccolini needed to be cooked a little longer The service was decent since our server was busy with other tables. The restaurant is a great place to get some good seafood, and they have a full bar! I'll be back to try the other menu items when I am back in the area!

Yelp
Had dinner on Saturday evening. Did not have reservations but was able to be seated. We waited a few minutes for the hostess to seat us though. Casual vibe. Food was good. Dined inside but outside seating also is available.
google avatar

Alex W.

Yelp
Tried out Pacific Catch and it was a chill, casual spot. Most of the menu is seafood, but I decided to switch it up and try the steak--it was actually pretty good. It came with kimchi fried rice and Brussels sprouts. The rice was solid, but the Brussels sprouts were way too much for me. I asked if I could swap the sprouts for more rice, and they said it'd be an extra $3-$4... to replace a side. Yeah, no thanks. I didn't eat the sprouts and just moved on. Nothing really stood out beyond that. It was fine, but nothing I'd rush back for.
google avatar

Mathew M.

Yelp
Two words: HAPPY HOUR. The pricey regular menu is saved by the great prices during their happy hour which made it totally worth it to come. The service was not the greatest as I felt unattended to since the beginning of the visit; having no utensils while our appetizer is out isn't the best start. The food was tasty for happy hour prices but I don't think I would come any time outside of those hours. I do enjoy the patio which is good for people watching. It has a relaxing modern vibe that was enjoyable.
google avatar

Errin S.

Yelp
A nice addition to the east side of UTC. We stopped in for lunch soon after opening but in the middle of the week. Seating inside and out, with bar seating available as well. We had no wait, no reservation, and no shortage of tables on the outside patio to choose from. We certainly weren't the only patrons, but it wasn't crowded by any means... which was funny because we heard a few parties state that they had reservations when they arrived. If you need that added assurance of a table then go ahead and make a res... otherwise, it doesn't seem like you'll have an issue walking in mid-week. Now on to the main dish... we ordered a 2 taco plate with beans, chips and salsa, as well as the poke. For tacos I had one traditional battered fish taco and one shrimp. Both were delicious, with very well cooked fish and shrimp. The breaded fish was light and flakey. Not at all oily or too heavy... and the taco was filled with a perfect blend of guacamole and cabbage. This was my favorite. The shrimp was really well cooked, and served similarly with cabbage and guacamole. The taco shells were well made corn tortillas, still soft but firm enough not to break while eating. The poke was really nice. Fresh non-fishy cubes smothered in a nice aioli and paired with light freshly made wontons. Again, not at all greasy. Overall, the quality of the ingredients was evident everywhere from the fresh pico de gallo to the tortillas and the pieces of seafood itself. My main (and really only) critique is that while the flavors were there, they were quite muted. I could do with a little heat in the spices that covered the shrimp, or some spice in the guacamole in the tacos. All in all, food was great, prices matched the level of service and atmosphere fitting of the locale, and everyone enjoyed their meal.
google avatar

Michelle L.

Yelp
This restaurant was cute and hip appearing with lots of bright colors, a full bar, and outdoor seating. They also have happy hour on both weekdays and weekends with a pretty expansive menu. We ordered the shrimp ceviche, which was delicious, fresh and well seasoned. I then ordered the fish tacos and what a disappointment!! There was no flavor, the slaw was undressed, and they only provided one dry lime. There was some sauce on the top but it wasn't nearly enough. That being said the portion of fish was generous, and for that I am grateful. The service was also mediocre. They didn't provide silverware, and took forever to provide water. I would recommend getting your fish taco fix elsewhere
google avatar

Julia G.

Yelp
We really enjoyed the food here. Sea bass were cooked just right, tender and flavorful. Sides are also delicious. Salmon bowl is amazing. Seasoning is just right, not too salty or overwhelming, just enough to bring out the great taste of seafood. Service is prompt.

Yelp
A go to for us at UTC! Always amazing service with delicious, fresh food every time! I especially love their cocktails, the shark fin was a new favorite but their blood orange margarita is always top notch. The sashimi trio was fresh and well priced and the interior is sleek but still welcoming. Next time you're at UTC, definitely give it a try!

Yelp
LOVE PACIFIC CATCH!! Best happy hour, amazing service, beautiful interior design and a menu that just won't quit. Olivia was our server and she was fantastic. I've been going to pacific catch in the bay for years so I was pleased to find out they had a location in La Jolla. I love the spicy passion fruit martini, their house salad and I always do their poke and ceviche trio. I crave this food all the time and I can't wait to come back. Thank you guys for your amazing service and quality!!

Yelp
Phenomenal experience! Everything was outstanding--from the customer service to the food. We had the pleasure of having Andrew as our waiter, and he was incredible! His enthusiasm and energy shone through every time he helped us, making the meal even more enjoyable. We truly hope Andrew gets recognized for his amazing work. We'll definitely be coming back--easily a 100/10!

Yelp
Update: Came back for dinner and we had another great meal here. The service was really great too! Wish I remember our waiter's name. I ordered the Mixed Catch seafood platter with regular fries. So yummy! So much seafood for $24. My friend was pretty happy with her two taco plate too. She has a gluten allergy and they had an entire menu for her. Great happy hour Monday to Friday 3-6pm. Dining out has become quite expensive so it's nice to take advantage of their Happy Hour specials. Tuesdays are also 50% off bottles of wine. The shrimp ceviche and the yellowtail fish ceviche were delicious. The guacamole poke was a bit bland and plain. The crunchy fish taco was good too. It's a fairly large and nicely decorated restaurant. We opted to sit outside on their patio. There are heaters and it's always fun to people watch too.

Yelp
First all the ambience and service was amazing. The bad review is specifically for the food. We got the pupu platter and poke and ceviche platter and the Brussels, we always like to try as much as we can. The Only stand out was their original poke, that was fresh and delicious. Everything else was lacking majorly. Their other poke had zero flavor, the shrimp was rubber, the seabass had a god awful marinade, the pork belly was ice cold, the Brussels were undercooked and not cut correctly. We ended up sending one platter back but ate the other. I am just so dissapointed at the lack of flavor, we had high hopes.

We ate here with friends for the first time on a Sunday afternoon. Pacific Catch is on the eastern end of UTC Westfield. We had a nice outdoor table -- inside was too too loud! My wife and I shared two dishes: Hawiian Pork Belly (4/5) -- This was a Street Food selection -- Two open-faced "gua boa" with glazed chashu pork, grilled pineapple and slaw. $12.50 Pupu Platter (3/5) -- This was a mixed bag ... and a mistake to order. The Coconut Shrimp (4/5) were very good, as was the Guaco-Poke (4/5). The Spicy Salmon Sushi Tacos (3/5) were just OK, but the Sticky Ribs (1/5) were way overcooked and awful. $29.95 Our drinks were very good, as was the service. The first two hours of UTC parking is free.

Yelp
I visited this restaurant in La Jolla at 8:40 PM, knowing they close at 9 PM. Online orders were still available, so I walked in hoping to place my order in person since I was already there. One of the employees told me they needed to check if the kitchen was still open. A few moments later, they returned saying the grill was down and the kitchen was closed. As someone who works in the restaurant industry myself, I found this disappointing. If the kitchen is truly closed, online ordering should also be turned off. Yet, I was still able to place an online order immediately after being turned away--and my food was ready in 15 minutes. Clearly, the kitchen was operating. It left me with the impression that they simply didn't want to take my order because they were closing soon. I would've appreciated honesty or at least a suggestion to place a to-go order instead. The staff could have said, "Dining is closed, but feel free to order for pickup." But I wasn't even given that option. I was genuinely excited to try this place, so it was disheartening to feel unwelcome. Thankfully, my meal turned out to be tasty--so it wasn't a total loss. Still, I believe the management should revisit their guest service approach and order policy during closing hours. I don't know the name of the staff member, but I hope this feedback helps improve the experience for future guests...

Yelp
Early lunch on Thursday before it got busy service was quick but I could have used a warmup on my coffee other than that, our server, was friendly. We ordered the Cabo Calamari as our starter and it was pretty tasty, crispy with a yummy dipping sauce. I ordered a side as I didn't want a heavy lunch and selected the Kimchi Fried Rice Sunnyside Egg. I could taste the kimchi which is a good thing and I was satisfied with this dish. It complemented the Cabo Calamari.

Yelp
I met up with a dear friend for lunch here. A great location! We knew we had a lot to catch up on so we started with the Cabo Calamari - crispy calamari, fried lemon slices, Fresno chilies, chipotle aioli We ordered the following entrees... Crispy Baja Cod Taco Platter- 2 large tacos, cabbage, avocado-tomatillo, pico de gallo, jalapeño tartar, lime crema, cilantro including cole slaw and fries. Crispy Baja Shrimp Taco Platter- 2 large tacos, cabbage, avocado-tomatillo, pico de gallo, jalapeño tartar, lime crema, cilantro including black beans and sweet potato fries The calamari was delicious. We each shared one of our tacos with each other. Both the fish and shrimp choices were really good! Also their non alcohol beverage Watermelon Mojito was delicious! Will definitely come back!!!

Yelp
The food here is delicious. There's a lot of variety from fish and chips too nice big dinners mashed potatoes french fries still a little bit of everything even sushi so it's really good as you could see by the pictures and I sat at the bar nice view. Nice decoration the service at the bar was really good. The girl was very polite and nice. Ambience is kind of like tropical outdoor California living.

Yelp
Although overpriced like everything in this corner of UTC the food is quite good and probably a bit less expensive than some of the neighboring restaurants. We got a free starter (Poke guacamole chips) for signing up as a first time visitor, a teriyaki chicken bowl and sea bass plate. All were quite good and the service from both the hostess and server were excellent.

Yelp
The inside is very nice, you can tell they spent money on the visuals. However, the food was terrible. Everything we order had that super sweet teriyaki sauce just sprayed all over the place. Everything tasted like the over powering sweet teriyaki sauce, the ribs, the steak, the chicken, the rice, the brussel sprouts... man not good at all.

Yelp
Went here for a Father's Day lunch. Located in the UTC mall in University City/La Jolla. It's kind of a Hawaiian fusion restaurant that serves unique dishes inspired from the Islands. We ordered the guacamole chips but it was also topped with poke on top. That was the difference and it wasn't too bad. We ended up running out of chips with still some guacamole left. Also shared the firecracker salmon rolls. Overall, the taste was ok. Felt like it needed more flavor to it and the rice was a little dry but still good. Then shared the main entree which was the Korean bbq steak dish. Meat was tender and flavorful but wish it had more meat. The kimchi fried rice was good and wasn't too spicy. It seems like my fiancé's favorite part of the dish were the brussels. It had a perfect taste and was crispy. The egg to me was just an add on. Maybe could have gone without it and added more meat instead. The service was great and they checked on us often. The ambiance is nice and the interior decorations are pleasant. We sat outside in the patio so it was a nice scenery even though u get a lot of people walking by since it is the mall looking at u and what you're eating. But overall, a very nice place to eat and the location is prime since u can walk and shop around the mall before or after your meal.

Yelp
So impressed with Pacific Catch. First time here and already a fan. Came here Friday night no wait, seated right away. Server came by took our order and brought it out. The food here is amazing and so fresh. I got the Latin Chimichurri Kanpachi small bowl and it was still a big bowl. I definitely didn't leave hungry that's for sure. I'm so glad I got to try this spot out. It's definitely good food and service, can't wait to come back and try something else on their menu. Thank you Pacific Catch for a delicious first experience.

Yelp
Waiting now for over half an hour for a pick-up order, never doing pick up from here again. It's 4 pm on a Thursday, completely dead.

Yelp
This is the first place I brought my visiting family to eat at! My go to order is their Korean BBQ with skirt steak and ribs. Portion is great I can never finish it myself. I love their Brussel sprouts, super flavored. They also have fish tacos which were delicious. The place is also really clean which is a big pro for me.

Yelp
My friend and I were deciding what to get for lunch in the UTC area and yes there are a lot of choices in the area. We decided that we wanted something different and this is what the doctor ordered. We shared three tacos, fish and chips and salad with yellow tail. A great place for lunch We will be back to sample more offerings

Yelp
Always enjoy eating at Pacific Catch for their delicious quality seafood and numerous choices! There's something for everyone and it's a great place for families and groups. I enjoy being notified of their events/specialty dishes via text and it's such a nice, relaxing experience to dine here.
