A Fire Tears Through Northeast Portland’s Pacific Market | Eater Portland

"I've known Pacific Market on Broadway for decades; it's a longtime spot for produce like breadfruit and durian as well as Vietnamese condiments and pantry staples. Early on Tuesday morning a three-alarm fire tore through the building at 6750 NE Broadway, and Portland Fire & Rescue says the blaze resulted in a "total loss of the structure." Many windows were boarded up and thick, opaque smoke made interior firefighting difficult; firefighters reported 20-foot flames along the single-story strip mall roof that stretched the entire length of the building. Around eight nearby homes were briefly evacuated (residents were allowed to return within about 15 minutes), there were no reported injuries, and the fire was contained by around 4 a.m.; the cause remains under investigation. It's unclear when, or if, the market will reopen." - Brooke Jackson-Glidden

Sad news this morning as Pacific Market was totally destroyed by fire. I wish them good luck and hope that they will rebuild on the same site. :(

This place is awesome! It's a tide and true huge Asian market where you will find all kinds of goodies!!! Fresh produce to a variety of different flavors/brands of Ramen noodles. Also baked goods from the local Vietnamese bakery and amazing coffee that I drink everyday! My daughter loves the colorful exotic candies and sweet treats too!

The BEST Vietnamese market in Portland! This is only place I can find mushroom soy sauce. Excellent sauces, seasoning, meat and produce selection. I found ground robusta coffee here as well, the other stores I visited only had instant.

If you are looking for a primarily Vietnamese grocery store that has things different than Fubonn or Hong Phat, this is the place. They have products that if uniquely Vietnamese but also some common Asian market items. It's worth checking out if you what to expand your experiences.

I haven't been here in a long time since there are newer Asian markets around. Today I went back because I was in the area and there was barely anyone there. I understand why. They don't have fresh food particularly meat. I bought a few packs of beef shank and it was black. Had to toss it away. This is ridiculous considering how everything is inflated. I'm surprised they're still in business.

I’ve shopped here for over 5 years. No frills Asian market. Little to no customer service. Fast check out. Unbelievably low prices on fresh high quality pork, coconut milk, coconut water, green tea, dried mushrooms, Asian condiments, noodles, rice paper wraps, seasonal fruits/vegetables, jackfruit, lemongrass, herbs, hard to find frozen fish and shellfish. Don’t be fooled by the needed upgrade to the building. This keeps prices low. Great spot for the all Asian ingredients without breaking the bank.

Of all the Asian grocery we go to, this one is the best so far. It has most all you need that is Asian, from Wai-Wai noodles to goat meat. Green leaf vegetables that you don't find at regular stores, duck eggs too. Staff are very busy running around multi-tasking. Need to appreciate how hard they work.

I like that the groceries are great when you are on a budget and need some more hard to get asian spices and ingredients. Only thing is that interior is a little beaten down and the oranges that we purchased happened to be moldy in the middle even though we thought it looked fresh from the outside. I don't entirely blame the staff or owner, since we might have just gotten a little unlucky.
