22 Must-Visit Culinary Pit Stops in Oregon | Eater

"Located within Hood River’s famed Fruit Loop, Packer Orchards is a sustainable, fourth-generation family-run operation. The farm offers u-pick fruit (an ideal summer activity for social distancing) including apples, pears, and peaches. Catch a glimpse of Mt. Adams on a clear day before ducking into the bakery, which stocks fresh-daily sweet treats, sweetened with pear concentrate and packed with farm-fresh fruit from the 100-plus acres. Try a strawberry donut sundae or a portable marionberry hand pie for the road. The farm is open Friday through Sunday, and the bakery is open every day but Tuesday." - Janey Wong

Visited with the family for the tulip festival. We all had a fun time. Beautiful scenery, super kid friendly, local farm to table products available for purchase, play structures for the kids, and goats that you can feed and pet. Only downer was that we couldn't bring home any bulbs we picked out of the ground.

Had a great time for the spring/tulip festival. We came for the fall festival and had to make it out again when we saw there was another event. We packed up all the kids & drove over an hour for this. It’s fun, low key, and the kids are TIRED afterwards. Thanks so much for having us!

Super fun and lovely staff. All the treats and foods are delicious. It can be a little spendy so budget accordingly.

Everything is absolutely amazing! Jam, salsas, desserts, and the best empanadas you’ll ever put into your mouth! Definitely make a stop here!

Great place to visit! Amazing black bean and corn salsa! Great jams and yummy cookies. With our ticket to the event we got to pick our own tulips and take them home!! I've never been able to do this any where else. Great place for kids, lots of things to do and learn. Staff was amazing! I will return often!

Went to visit the tulips! So cute! Wish I could have taken some salsas and jams home but had a long trip home and no more room in my luggage!

I swear this place gets better every year! My husband and I took our children and granddaughter yesterday on a Monday evening. We had the place mostly to ourselves since it was an off peak day. There was amazing fall foods, drinks, and gifts along with the following activities: 1. Corn maze 2. Full size (hamster wheels) 3. Hay stack slides 4. Play ground 5. Extra large and regular for hole 6. Corn pit 7. Petting zoo (barn yard animals) 8. Cattle roping(from a fake horse with saddle to a fake cow) 9. Pumpkin patch 10. Real fire truck 11. Sand pit with diggers 12. Lots of picture props 13. Many games and activities Please do your self a favor, take your kiddos here, they will remember it for years to come!

Yelp
Prices are ridiculous.. this place used to be awesome. Read your reviews and go back to the way it was.

Yelp
All we wanted to do was feed the goats. Bought the goat feed inside the store and wasn't told we had to pay admission as well to feed them. We ended up paying admission which was $60 for 4 people figuring we could at least do the corn maze. The corn maze was maybe 4 -5 feet tall and completely disappointing. And feeding the goats was a waste of time because you couldn't even enter the enclosure. The staff was rude when we asked for a refund. Overall very disappointed and would tell anyone to steer clear of paying the ridiculous admissions price for horrible entertainment.

Yelp
Expensive and disappointing. Many of the 'attractions' were broken, rotted and tired. Went on a Friday, paid 'weekend' pricing and later told the kids tractor train doesn't run on weekdays.... very weird since they charged all eight of us weekend rates! It was a blustery cool day, none of the heaters were on, and the fire pit was cold with no fire going. Just lazy. Regrettably someone from our group ordered food because the kids were starving. Big mistake. Mac and cheese advertised as "From Scratch" on the menu consisted of soggy noodles drowned in fake liquid nacho 'cheese' from a dispenser. The tacos were literally the worst tacos I've ever tasted, anywhere, hands down. Packer Orchards is so bad, I couldn't believe it was Hood River. Trust me, not the place to bring your kids for a Halloween experience or any other holiday 'festival' they host. Others have said this place is "meh" but I think that's too generous.

Yelp
Awsome place ! The bakery is the best, with more choices than you can imagine, it's hard to go away without a lot of goodies

Yelp
Years ago this was my favorite pumpkin patch, but I highly recommend going elsewhere - many changes have been made in recent years, and all for the worse. The are asking an ungodly unreasonable amount for admissions, and there is only one rate. Are you an adult, and want to pick out a pumpkin? You must pay $20 just to step foot on the premises, which "includes" kids play stuff, no exceptions- and that price doesn't even include a pumpkin?! For 2 adults to do nothing than to walk 30 ft and select a carving pumpkin each- it would have cost no less than & $75. You have been warned! (The magical sample land the bakery used to be is also no more, and you will pick up housemade doughnuts in a plastic clamshell container off a table, rather than being handed hot fresh ones in a paper bag as they come out. I have fond memories of this place, but it's been stripped of some of its charms, and I can't support such money-grubbing.

Ronda L.

Yelp
Very disappointed in this place. Went here for the 1st in years and it's just meh and not enjoyable. Just to enter the pumpkin patch area was $20 per person and that not included of getting a pumpkin. If you want a pumpkin it's extra. Just really disappointed and sad to see what this place had become and ruined what was my childhood was years ago. I remember no enter fee big patches of pumpkin barrels of fruits you can buy but I know this is under new owners but still should kept it how it was and not what it is now. Not impressed at all and don't really recommend this anymore sadly.

Yelp
My favorite Hood River Scenic Route stop. The variety of products from canned goods, to bake at home and quick yummy snacks to go make it unforgettable. My only wish is they were open on weekends during the off season.

Yelp
Skip Packer Farm this year. They are continuing to charge admission but then not enforcing masking or distancing on the hale bales, play structures and pumpkin patches. They were large groups of older children all in each other's faces without masks. This is why we can't return to school because businesses like this are being reckless. They didn't even seem to care or offer a refund when we left. Not worth it!

Rex T.

Yelp
Really enjoyed the visit. Great corn maze, corn box, hay bail pyramid Very clean and organized. Many activities for the kids $6 per person. Excellent value for 2 hours of fun Wore our grandson out Need this in The Dalles

Yelp
We take our family every year! My kids love the corn maze and I love their tasty treats. Apple cider donuts are my favorite

Yelp
I took my 76yr old parents and 9 yr old daughter to this farm for fall festivities. We have been going to the farm for over 40 years when the prior owners ran it. The last time we went was 2016; I think it had just become Packer. I will NEVER go back. We went on Saturday, October 20, 2018. They wanted to charge my parents to go back to watch my daughter play on the hay and choose her pumpkin. I get paying for me and her; I was going to do the maze with her, so fine. But to charge grandparents to simply WATCH their grandchild is asinine. Needless to say, I didn't pay. I went to another awesome farm farther up the mountain.

Yelp
Horrible service. Won't be going back ever. It used to be such a family tradition when Rasmussen's owned it. Now it's just a business. So sad.

John R.

Yelp
This place now is really just not worth the trip. They have very few attractions (not nearly as much as Rasmussen) and prices are really high. The pumpkin patch is mediocre, there are few things set up for Halloween, the corn maze is expensive, the store carries some tasty jams and whatnot but not too much else. Pumpkins are really expensive now. Not much selection of apple's and pears (you can get way more at other local stores). They wanted $3 for a cup of hot cider! They really need to get more stuff if they want to keep charging the new high prices.

Kara E.

Yelp
Really disappointed in this place. It's very cute but they added even more admission this year and it would have cost us $24 for our family of four just to walk around the pumpkin patch. You can't even get on the grounds anymore without paying admission. Once you add the high cost of treats and pumpkins after that, it just wasn't worth it. The cookies are usually super stale/plastic tasting also. The cider doughnuts are good if you get them fresh but the prices are unreasonable. We are locals and we have just given up on this place. We are now going to drive all the way to Portland to have an enjoyable pumpkin patch experience.

Keely M.

Yelp
This place was wonderfully fun for the family and they have delicious honey and jams.
