"When they said that breakfast is the most important meal of the day, they were probably taking about the breakfast tacos at Pagoda. The tacos are served with refried beans, potatoes, eggs, and cheese on a flour tortilla with a side of “Villa Arcos” hot sauce (very hot sauce). Corn tortillas available on request, plus diners can add bacon or turkey bacon, or substitute a tofu scramble for the eggs." - Beth D’Addono
"You can find some of the most affordable and delicious breakfast food from this pagoda-shaped, worker-owned cooperative cafe at the edge of the 7th Ward. The menu has a little bit of everything, but some of the best dishes are the soft and dense banana Nutella bread with its slightly crisp and chewy top, To Le’s lemongrass tofu taco made with ingredients direct from VEGGI Farmers Cooperative in New Orleans East, and the Cuban pulled pork taco, which you should wash down with a ginger-lavender tea or some mango lassi. "This funky spot on Bayou Road is a gem pure and simple. Pagoda Cafe serves breakfast and lunch every day but Monday, with a sweet little dog-friendly outdoor patio perfect for picnicking. Try the breakfast tacos and the savory pastry for sure and definitely get their version of a veggie banh mi. That’s fried lemongrass tofu on Dong Phuong french bread, dressed with mayo, cucumbers, and a fresh slaw with peanut satay dressing. Spot on." - Beth D’Addono
