The 15 Best Portland, Maine Restaurants | Condé Nast Traveler

"The sister restaurant to Portland hotspot Miyake, Pai Men is no second-fiddle sibling. The crowds are here for the same meticulous cooking and delicate—albeit more casual—dishes embodying Japan by way of coastal Maine: remarkably fresh and inventive sushi, from-scratch steamed bun creations; and most of all, a glorious roster of ramen that takes the kitchen days to make. Starters like Hamayaki—broiled crab and scallop topping sushi rice, kewpie mayo, sansho pepper, and a slick of eel sauce—deserve their own cult. But it's really the ramen you're here for, and each one is a multi-layered symphony." - Alexandra Hall

A Handy Guide to Maine’s Best Ramen | Eater Maine

"Of course the chefs at Masa Miyake’s casual Japanese restaurant do ramen right. Choose from six kinds of ramen, all delivering rich flavor and housemade noodles. Beginners may want to start with the paitan ramen, which has a medium-light broth made from chicken and pork." - Kate McCarty

Pai Men Miyake - Review - Arts District - Portland, ME - The Infatuation

"When it’s 10 degrees and all you can possibly think about is sticking your face in the steam of a big bowl of soup, head to Pai Men Miyake for ramen. It’s the more casual sister restaurant of Miyake (a fancy Japanese restaurant in the city). We especially like the fatty paitan ramen - a mix of chicken and pork broth - and if you’re with a group, make sure to get some bao buns to start, and pick someone to investigate the chalk board with all the beer on tap written on it - these change all the time." - Hannah Albertine

Best ramen I've had locally, and the pork buns are to die for. Staff is fantastic and accommodating, but space is limited so seating can be a bit of a wait. So so worth it!!

Excellent vibes and quick, informative staff. I had the paitan with crispy pork belly, which was absolutely delicious. I tried the fried Brussels sprouts, and they were just okay. Overall, an excellent place for dinner. Easy place for solo dining as well.

It was absolutely delicious! We ordered the Lobster buns (not shown), Paitan ramen, spicy Maine lobster sushi, and the Pork Katsuson. It was very tasty and was served in great portions. The lobster buns were our FAVORITE because of the buns!

Friendly people and chill atmosphere! the tofu in the vegetarian ramen *chefs kiss* is incredibly memorable, and their brussels sprouts are a must every time we come. The tofu buns are also delectable! I love it all.

Some of the best ramen I've had. The flavours are more elevated than traditional ramen, so expect more subtlety. Karage was also delicious. The staff were very friendly and sitting by the bar was fun

We were recommended by my doctor in Portland, as his go to favorite and it did not disappoint! Everything we ordered was excellent. Large portions of both edamame and seaweed salad. I had the duck ramen and my husband had the ceviche roll. We highly recommend Pai Men Miyake

Very tasty dishes! Had a tuna roll, pork dumplings, roasted brussel sprouts and diakon salad. First three tasted amazing while the salad was so so in comparison.

Good food and a great atmosphere. Appetizers are great and they have always great drinks and service. Even if you are a sushi purist, you will find something to like with the rolls are creative but still feel grounded in fresh savory flavors like Shiso leaf, inari or toasted almonds. The Tokyo Aburra noodles are a must try they have this eggy, creamy, garlicky flavor like other else.
