"This tiny Sikh deli just off Houston Street serves generously seasoned South Asian food 24 hours a day, but after 1 a.m. is when you want to show up and survey the scene. Cab drivers run in and out, some to grab a chai and others just to use the restroom. Drunk college students huddle outside over $5 bowls of rice and curried vegetables. Post-shift service workers carry out bags of samosas to take home. The cheap, comforting cooking—which also happens to be vegan (in case you happen to be the type who cares)—appeals to literally everyone who’s still awake." - ByThe Bon Appétit Staff

East Village’s 10 Best Cheap Eats - Eater NY

"Of several Punjabi canteens in the East Village, this one is the best. It’s also a convenience store, providing only three window stools for dining in, but the food verges on the superb. I’m talking about potato samosas bigger than a wrestler’s fist for only $1.50, and “small” servings of chicken curry and pullao rice for $5 that are really much bigger than the designation implies. Ask for chutney and get some very nice green raita on the side." - Robert Sietsema

Veggie samosa was soggy and lukewarm, similarly the lamb over rice was not heated well and quite cold. The plate was almost completely rice, and they charged me $14 for the lamb over rice and $2.5 for the samosa which is way higher than what I was expecting for quick deli food. Food wasn’t tasty, didn’t finish it.

Pak Punjab Deli is a small deli that has a variety of packaged snacks and drinks as well as south Asian eats. it’s a small space packed with items along the perimeter. the hot foods available are on display in a deli case and heated up via microwave—different curries, rices, samosas, kebabs and more. Customer flow is drivers and Uber drivers who stop on break etc as well as random residents. there is no menu with prices on display which feels a bit weird since prices seem to change depending on who’s behind the counter. odd. prices have climbed here while quality seems to have stayed the same or fallen. recently, stopped here for kebabs to go and they were just okay at best. the curries seem kinda overpriced based on size and quality. but if you need some late night eats, this place will suffice

There breakfast omelet sandwich with mayo, cheese and ketchup was amazing this morning. I was there for the first time and absolutely loved the masala chai too. The guy had kababs samosas that were good too. Definitely recommend 👌

Small desi deli store in Manhattan. Desi food is available and the restroom is clean. Mostly take out. A couple of chairs are available to stand and eat. Gets crowded easily.

Had the chicken tikka masala and a vegetarian samosa. The chicken tikka was pretty poor, very little flavor. The samosa was ok but had hardly any filling.

Came here by accident. Hah. A friend told me to check out a place called Punjabi on 1st Ave. We didn't realize it was the wrong place toll after we ordered. It was tad pricey for what it was. Customer service was super nice and friendly. If you pay with cash you get a discount!

Really good Pakistani chai (tea)! Haven't really tried other food items etc., so can't comment on them.
