"This Union Market spot is best known as the restaurant that’s also a colorful art gallery, but it’s the tasty tapas you’ll be paying more attention to. The menu is made up of a couple dozen small plates that use a variety of international flavors, like the incredibly juicy shiso wrapped chicken thigh and the crispy criolla potatoes, which are sweet, deep-fried little nuggets covered in little bits of cheese. People swing through after work for discounted drinks and tapas at the bar from 3-6pm, which is when you’ll get the best value—and a pretty small crowd. The main dining room is great for sharing a bunch of plates with friends before checking out the art around the space. " - Tristiaña Hinton

"It’s not too often to come across a restaurant selling local artwork, and even less often a cocktail-sipping customer can watch artists paint brush strokes and shape sculptures in real time. But that is precisely the unexpected experience to expect at Palette 22, the booming Union Market district’s creative new dining destination debuting on Thursday, March 14. The latest venture from Alexandria Restaurant Partners (ARP) marks the hospitality titan’s first foray into D.C. proper. Drawing upon its success in Shirlington since 2017, Palette 22’s second location continues to showcase for-sale artwork and sharable plates under the same roof. 'In D.C., we really wanted to stretch the limits of what we put on the menu,' says ARP partner Dave Nicholas. 'We have everything from a flatbread oven to woks in our kitchen to really allow us to explore different regions of the world.' Palette 22 chef Santiago Lopez’s tapas-style menu kicks off with a generous assortment of dips alongside homemade naan bread. Dishes jump from Peruvian-influenced steak tartare causa to a Vietnamese green papaya salad with jumbo lump crab, spicy lime dressing, togarashi, and spiced peanuts. A Japanese robata grill preparing lamb and brisket kofta, roasted caraflex cabbage and shiso-wrapped chicken thigh joins a hot plates section full of Taiwanese roasted baby carrots and Turkish flatbread topped with spiced ground lamb. As beguiling as the food may be, that won’t be the only draw of Palette 22. 'We’ve been really inspired by the Union Market District and the artsy scene of the neighborhood, and really wanted the restaurant to reflect that creativity,' says Nicholas. Thanks to a curated artist-in-residence program, Palette 22’s walls showcase a rotating gallery of mixed media works from dozens of esteemed artists who live and work around the DMV. 'All our artists have also committed to spending time in the restaurant itself so that guests can observe and interact with them directly, as well as purchase their works,' says Nicholas. In addition to making global cuisine more accessible to patrons in one place, ARP’s team also hopes to democratize the purchase of art. 'Most of the time, you find art in a polished studio that’s hidden behind a frame and some glass,' he says. 'We want our art to feel natural and part of the environment.' Weekday happy hour (4 p.m. to 6 p.m.) will join weekend brunch from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. with all sorts of Benedicts like a cheese-stuffed pupusa variety with mojo pork, tomato-spiked hollandaise, and a poached egg. 'Our goal is simple — to put forth great food, great art, and great service in a funky atmosphere in Union Market,' says Nicholas." - Lulu Chang

Came to brunch to celebrate a friend’s promotion and everyone had such a great experience! Our hostess, Sylvia, drove the bottomless brunch experience for us, picking the dishes and making sure everything came out together. It was such an enjoyable and effortless experience and Sylvia was truly key to this. She was attentive, remembered all our drinks and requests and was friendly the entire time. Would absolutely come back for a special event!

Finally had a chance to have brunch at this spot. Every dish we shared was really good. The flavors are on point! We selected the bottomless mimosa's (there are several drinks that are included, not just mimosas). The drinks were really good as well. I do wish the drinks were a little stronger. If your waiting to check out Palette 22, don't sleep on it. Lastly, the ambience was nice with local art displayed and for purchase, an artist is there painting. They also had a small jazz band playing but it was over powering conversations inside the restaurant.

This spot is hot! Great music. Art on the walls for sale. Exquisite food. Service was a little slow and food took a while but what we received during our time was special. Everything wasn't my favorite but it was still worth a try! Honorable mention: prawns! My favorite things overall were the duck Benedict, crispy potatoes, and the ceviche. Worth the price! And the mimosas do their thing! Alexander was our server :)

Google
what a delightful experience! as soon as we walked in, we were met by beautiful decor. there are artists who paint live and they sell the paintings on the walls. their happy hour is such a good value, as is the “passport.” but we ended up ordering almost everything from the happy hour, which featured lots of vegetables and some protein options too. we especially loved the beet dip with flatbread, which is crispy. i also loved the roasted carrots. the papaya salad was good but slightly too acidic. the potatoes were also excellently salted and flavored. the lamb kebab was flavorful but i think the chicken thigh was even better. one criticism is the pacing — the food came out faster than we wouldve liked. I think it could benefit from some coursing so that the temperature is optimal. total was about $40pp

Love going here. The food is always going to hit! I’m in LOVE with the black bean hummus and naan. It’s divine and a must try. All of their dips are amazing actually. I cannot say I’ve had anything bad from this establishment and I’ve been four times. Drinks are delish and they offer bottom less brunch! Definitely recommend!

Google
Unique experience. I do appreciate the service we experience with the hostess. She was amazing. However this would not be a place I run back to visit. I do think more options could be on the menus. Or maybe just enhance the seating for some dishes. I enjoyed my food but everyone in my party did not.

We loved bottomless brunch and bottomless drinks! Our favorites were the corn pancakes and crispy potatoes. The atmosphere was lovely with amazing artwork for sale lining the walls, a beautiful outdoor patio, and an all around chill vibe. Our server, Sylvia, was so kind and helpful. Definitely will visit again when we are in the area!

Palette 24 is like a secret garden of deliciousness and art.🎨 Their art is fire, the food is mouthwatering (I swear I licked the plates clean!), and the staff? Pure sunshine! ☀️ Our lovely server, Claudia, was an absolute gem. She's got the best recs and a smile that could light up the whole Union Market. Thank you for the top-notch service! Bottomless brunch on the rooftop? Don't even get me started. 🥂 This place is our go-to and a must-visit for anyone in the Union Market area.

Yelp
I'm so sad to hear this place is closing!!! It was my favorite restaurant in NoMa: great quality and innovative food; the art and gallery vibe; friendly and engaging servers... it had everything for a great time! The food was great and Silvia gave us excellent service (as usual)! At the bar Roque made amazing cocktails and really got to know the customers 1 on 1 to create a familiar feel when he was there. Other staff I have had that was stellar was Erick, Brenda, Roberto, Sarah, Jessica, the Jonathans... thank you! Hope it wasn't so, but wishing everyone the best in future endeavors!

Yelp
Exceptional service from an amazing team. I've been a lover of Palette22 since May 17, 2024. I can say without a doubt that this place is a gem of DC. It's such a shame it couldn't last longer. My last days were spent enjoying each person who has serviced me and done it with such grace. Let was an amazing joy. Dennis made me want to come in just to see his smiling, welcoming face. And all the rest of the bartenders and servers I can't name everyone but you too are a delight. Thank you for putting the human back in humanity. Diana

Yelp
I visited this spot for my sister's birthday brunch, and I'm so happy she chose it! Let's start with the decor--the artwork inside is stunning! It has such a cool vibe that fits perfectly with the Union Market area. Our server, Jessica, was adorable and super sweet. She was patient with us and gave some awesome recommendations. We all went for the unlimited brunch, and trust me, it's totally worth it. You can add on unlimited drinks, or go for something extra fun like a bottle of champagne with a selection of juices to pour yourself--such a vibe! I've been daydreaming about those fluffy pancakes ever since. The baked eggs were incredible, and the charred prawns? Absolutely amazing! Can't wait to go back. The bill was pretty reasonable too. Parking is a bit tricky, but there's street parking (though it can be hard to find), or you can use the nearby parking garage.

Yelp
TLDR: If you're looking to indulge in a fun, festive brunch experience in Washington, DC, look no further than Palette 22. Located just a stone's throw from Union Market, this two-story restaurant has become a popular destination for those seeking a diverse, endlessly delicious brunch spread paired with a wide selection of drinks. Atmosphere & Location: Palette 22 occupies a prime corner spot with a vibrant, modern vibe. The first floor boasts a large bar and plenty of seating options, making it perfect for casual brunchers and cocktail lovers alike. Upstairs, the second floor offers a more relaxed lounge area with additional bar space and cozy social seating areas--ideal for large groups or those seeking a more laid-back atmosphere. The restaurant's proximity to Union Market means that parking can be a bit tricky, especially on weekends when the area is bustling. Arriving a bit early might help secure a spot nearby, but expect a bit of a walk. Service & Reservation: We had a reservation for a group of 10, and despite the usual DC restaurant rule requiring 90% of your party to be present before being seated, our group encountered a slight delay due to traffic as folks came in from all over Maryland. Although this meant we had to wait a bit, the staff at Palette 22 were incredibly accommodating, offering us a place at the bar while we waited and ensuring that our table was ready once the rest of our group arrived. This level of service set the tone for the rest of the experience--attentive, friendly, and efficient throughout the two-hour brunch window. The Endless Brunch: The highlight of our visit was undoubtedly the endless brunch, which is priced at $60 per person (or $42 without drinks). The concept is simple but brilliant: you can order as many small plates and drinks as you want from a varied menu, all within a two-hour time frame. While the variety and volume of food were impressive, it was the quality and creativity of the dishes that truly stood out. The brunch menu includes a mix of breakfast classics, global-inspired options, and some more lunch-oriented small plates. Some of the standout dishes from our meal included: Breakfast Fried Rice: A flavorful, savory twist on a classic, it was a crowd favorite at our table. Lamb and Brisket Kebabs: Tender, juicy, and perfectly spiced, these were a hit among meat lovers. Crispy Criolla Potatoes: A crispy, salty, and flavorful dish that was addictive--everyone was fighting for the last bite. Duck Confit Benedict: A creative take on the traditional eggs benedict, the duck confit was perfectly rich and satisfying. Banh Mi: A fusion of fresh, flavorful ingredients that brought a bit of Asian flair to the table. In addition to the rich, savory dishes, Palette 22 also offers a solid array of lighter options like acai bowls and pancakes. Our vegan diner had no trouble finding suitable dishes, with the kitchen providing options that were flavorful and satisfying. Drinks: As part of the endless brunch, you can enjoy a selection of alcoholic beverages. The house mojito was refreshing and well-balanced, and the beer selection provided something for every taste. The service was quick and efficient, ensuring that our glasses were never empty throughout our meal. Overall Experience: The entire experience was relaxed, fun, and filled with great food and drink. The staff were friendly and attentive, and we appreciated the fact that we could take our time, ordering plates and drinks at a leisurely pace. For $60 per person (including drinks), it felt like a fantastic value given the high quality of the food and the generous portion sizes. While the location can make parking a bit challenging, it's certainly worth the trip for a weekend brunch that offers variety, quality, and a festive atmosphere. Whether you're a local or just visiting DC, Palette 22 is definitely a spot to check out for an indulgent brunch with friends or family.

Yelp
I came here around 8pm on a Sunday night and the vibes were great. It was a quiet night and the bar was empty. Perfect for a recap of the day's adventures. I had the cucumbers, corn cakes, and a mocktail. It was sooooooooo good! The ingredients were top quality. If I recall correctly, my server was Jorge/Jose and he was great! He made sure to proactively ask about allergies and was attentive. I will totally come back and hopefully I make it to their late night happy hour

Kim J.

Yelp
I've been here a couple of times and the food and service never disappoint. Parking is always easy. There are garages nearby that offer two hour free parking. There is also street parking if you're able to grab a spot. The restaurant is super cute. They have two stories and an outdoor patio on the second floor. I've been for happy hour twice and it's always a good time. Al was our bartender during one of my visits and he was amazing. Very attentive and his suggestions were spot on. We tried the entire happy hour menu and it was all good. I'm a sucka for beets so I always have to get the beet dip. They make the bread in house and it's soooo good. All the flavors of everything are just always on point. I most recently took advantage of the late night happy hour after a play on a Sunday evening and I appreciate they have that available. This is a solid choice for flavorful good food. I will be back soon for brunch.

Yelp
5 star experience for a 5 star brunch! We came here because they offer plenty of vegan and vegetarian options, and they are able to modify orders to meet dietary restrictions. And who doesn't love an AYCE brunch? The service was impeccable, as our servers snd bussers were attentive and kind, and kept our small plates coming and table clear of clutter. The food was absolutely delicious, better than I remembered. Mostly everything was served fresh, and my bestie's modifications were accurate. Oh, and their mock-tails were very good too..like "6 mocktails on our bill-type good". The ambiance is artsy and trendy, with tons of natural light and good music playing. Highly recommend..also, park in the garage to save your sanity, instead of circling around trying to find street parking, particularly on the weekends. yelp pro tip: There's only 2 single stall bathrooms for the whole joint, so plan accordingly.

Yelp
Ok I'm biased because my paintings are hanging there...but this has now become one of my favorite places in DC (within the top 5 - excluding super fancy pricy restaurants) While this place is phenomenal for having artists painting there while you're having your drinks/food, the food is still the main reason why I would go. I tried basically everything they have - beware they're all small plates, and yes, on the medium-high(ish) price range. My favorite is definitely the Cevice, which I usually pair with the roasted carrot romesco dip and the middle east sour. However, all, and I say really ALL their dishes are fantastic, you can't go wrong. Super high five to the waiters there! They're kind, fun, attentive and ready to help you choose from the menu. A big plus because once they saw me a little low mood while I was painting there, and so they started doing everything they could to cheer me up and they made my day!! I love you all!

Yelp
I'll be moving to the Union Market area and wanted to try the local spots. I love Palette 22 in Shirlington so I figured I'd try this one. We went with the passport option (select three dishes) and then got an entree to accompany it. For the passport, we did the black bean hummus, roasted cabbage, crispy criollos potatoes, and charred beef. The whole bronzino was the perfect entree to accompany our other selections. The restaurant itself is huge and perfect for group meals. The artwork is very cool and reflects the neighborhood and culture. As for the service, our server was okay but not anyone to rave about. He didn't make the best or confident recommendations and he also wasn't the most receptive to our requests in terms of food pairings.

Yelp
Palette 22 DC Brunch Review I recently had brunch at Palette 22 in DC and tried a variety of dishes. Favorites included the Beet Borani, Ceviche, Buttermilk Pancakes, Açaí Bowl, Fried Rice, and Lamb and Brisket Kabob--all flavorful and well-prepared. The Charred Beef and Charred Prawns were good, while the Mushroom Scramble was decent. However, the Chicken Thigh and Roasted Cabbage was a miss due to its texture and flavor, respectively. In terms of drinks, the sangrias were excellent, with the red being more flavorful than the white. The mojitos, unfortunately, didn't meet expectations. Our server, Ayana, was fantastic--attentive and made sure we had everything we needed. The ambiance was artsy and pleasant, with a comfortable noise level since it wasn't crowded during our visit. While I prefer the Arlington location's brunch menu, I might return to the DC spot if invited, though it wouldn't be my first choice.

The Brunch M.

Yelp
WEAR STRETCHY PANTS! Easily has become one of my favorite brunches in the city! The menu reads a bit eccentric but the items are DELICIOUS!! I recommend you try: The Pancakes (SOOOO moist and a lil crispy on the edges, made to PERECTION) The Prawns The criola potatoes Chicken & Waffles The Duck Benedict Its unlimited small plates so you can have as much as you want as many times as you want. And everything is so good you cant stop trying. The unlimited drinks are mimosas, sangrias, margaritas and mojitos. So worth the money. the ONLY downside is parking. The entrie restaurant is like being in an art gallery. all the artwork is available for purchase and they usually have artist painting live in person. A very Laid back artsy vibe. For a full video of my experience check out my IG page @Thebrunchmaster_

Cynthia J.

Yelp
I really wanted to like this place, but it's a no go for me based on the bartenders and service. It took me 20 minutes to get approach. While the bartenders were attending to their friends. I ordered fried rice that was $21. But was overcharged to include $37. I had to bring this to the Manager attention. Who clearly corrected it. Only come here if you want to get scammed by the bartenders! Horrible service.

Stella Y.

Yelp
Palette 22 was seriously one of the best breakfast buffets I've been too. I didn't expect the food to be so creative, flavorful, fresh, and perfectly cooked! Although I loved everything I ate, I loved the watermelon aguachile, octopus & mani ceviche, and charred prawns. I would definitely do the all you can eat option vs the a la carte since there's so many delicious dishes to try. Although some of the dishes took a while to come out, they did not compromise on taste or quality. Absolutely a great place for large parties or get together. The interior is also super cool with a hipster art & warehouse vibes. Loved all the colors and there was also someone on the side painting live.

Geneva D.

Yelp
I love the concept of this restaurant. The serve a worldly menu with an art gallery feel. All the walls are connected in art by locals, which is both cool and interesting. They even have rotating resident artists that paint throughout the day. I even met one of the arts and plan on purchasing some of his work. In terms of food, it's tapas style, but the plates are a good size. I ordered the octopus, P22 rice and the sticky bun for dessert. Everything tasted like it was made with care and quality ingredients. My friend has pretty severe allergies, and they were able to accommodate her requests for modifications. The service overall was great. Our server was super knowledgeable about the menu and was able to offer suggestions that we enjoyed. There were two stories and we were seating on the top floor, but took some time to explore the rest of the restaurant before leaving. the bar is super long, and the music in the background gave great vibes. I think P22 would be great for happy hour or a great meal.

Yelp
This is definitely one of my favorite brunches ij DC! First, bottomless brunch on a Saturday ?? Yes, please! I recently hosted a dmvdoes meetup at palette22dc and let me tell you--it's the perfect spot for food, art, vibes, and connections! If you're looking for a place to eat, explore creativity, and enjoy good company, this is it! Brunch Highlights: BOTTOMLESS BRUNCH Select as many menu items as you'd like--including dessert--for an endlessly delicious and creative weekend! $42.22 per person Saturdays & Sundays: 10 AM - 3 PM They accommodated our party of 10 with ease--perfect for families, date night, groups, or a fun outing with friends. What I loved is that that allowed for separate checks! Amazing service Great ambiance Add Palette 22 to your brunch plans! You won't regret it.

Yelp
I had the pleasure of spending Christmas Eve at Palette 22 with my partner and daughter, and it was an experience to remember. From the moment we walked in, the service was exceptional. Our bartender, Al, was not only attentive but also had such a warm and pleasurable demeanor. He kept us laughing throughout the evening, which added a festive and light-hearted touch to our dinner. Roberto, our server, was equally attentive and ensured we were well taken care of at every step. The drinks were expertly crafted, and they perfectly complemented the meal. This was our first time ordering the steak and branzino, and both were phenomenal. Just a week ago, we dined at a French restaurant and ordered similar dishes, but Palette 22 surpassed our expectations. The steak here was cooked to perfection, and the reduction sauce had a beautifully balanced flavor--it wasn't overly salty, which is something I greatly appreciated. As for the branzino, the seasoning was spot-on, elevating the dish with subtle yet impactful flavors. Beyond the food, the atmosphere was lively yet cozy, making it the perfect spot for a special holiday meal. Palette 22 consistently delivers exceptional food and service, and this visit was no different. Whether you're stopping by for drinks, a casual meal, or a special occasion, this place is a gem in the Union Market area. Highly recommend giving it a try--you won't be disappointed!

Yelp
I absolutely LOVE Palattee 22. First off its low key and chill and generally easy to a get a reservation. I have been several times and everything is good, whether is dinner or brunch. You absolutely must try the warmed hummus - its literally the best I have ever had. Also, highly recommend the half roasted chicken. Its cooked to perfection with an amazing sauce and a tomato salad.

Mary Beth T.

Yelp
Such a great dinner spot for a big dinner - birthday party perfection. Our server Erick was the best - always checking in on us and making sure things kept flowing. Loved the roasted carrots romesco - the crushed macadamia nuts was the surprise you needed. The tuna crudo with crispy quinoa was tangy and refreshing. Cocktails & wine list - 100%.

Yelp
This review was long overdue but what can I say.. life tends to get in the way. Ambiance: very hip, very colorful and there are a lot of eye catching pieces within the restaurant. I felt like there was easily something beautiful to set my eyes on no matter the direction I looked. Service: extremely warm and friendly. Very efficient. Food: came here for brunch and had the crispy criolla potatoes and waffles with mango. The potatoes were crisped to perfection and admittedly, I would return to Palette 22 just for the potatoes. The waffle was decent.. I felt like the mango sauce was a bit bitter in taste and was a bit overpowering making the dish seem a bit unbalanced. I also loved that the had a passion fruit no'jito (non-alcoholic cocktail) and it was extremely delicious. Highly recommend that as well!

Brionna Y.

Yelp
I LOVE this restaurant -- one of my favorites in the area. Everything on the menu is great. They have the best hummus dip I've ever tried, plus the garlic naan pairs perfectly. Lovely ambiance and attentive waiters.

Haniyyah B.

Yelp
5/5 Super cool experience for restaurant week! The food was absolutely delicious, bursting with flavor and spices. The sangria was refreshing, perfect for summer. Silvia provided excellent service--friendly, welcoming, and attentive. She guided us with thoughtful recommendations and checked in regularly. I loved the vibe of this place--so artsy and unique. There was even a live artist painting during dinner. Very demure, very mindful, and utterly charming.

Yelp
The ART is beautiful!!!!! The ambiance is excellent. Chill but elegant. It's a def a vibe. Food is delicious. Get the cabbage. Get the potatoes. Amazing service. My friends and I got unlimited brunch and it was worth it.

Yelp
Absolutely amazing! Service was awesome by Lex and the food was incredible. Hidden gem in Union Market and highly recommend to visit.

Yelp
Amazing place for happy hour with great shareable dishes! Came on a Wednesday around 5:30 and found seats at the bar easily. They do happy hour in the whole bar area so there are first come first served tables too. All their HH food is $7.22 and all drinks are $11.22 so for food especially it's a great deal. To drink I had the Santorini martini which was fabulous and refreshing, not too strong at all and perfectly balanced. To share a friend and I had the carrot dip, hummus, dumplings, chicken thighs, and green papaya salad. All the dips come with Naan that is out of this world. The carrot dip is a must. The hummus left a lot to be desired for me. The papaya salad is amazing but definitely has a kick!! If you're sensitive to spice like me, beware but still get it, the burn is worth it! The dumplings and chicken thighs were also fabulous. Loved the ambience with all the art and artists in residence. They were playing great music too! The TV playing sports kind of ruined the atmosphere for me. Palette 22 with its aestetic and menu gives a very elevated vibe but the big screen of ESPN made it feel like a sports bar for bar food rather than an elevated restaurant. They should consider doing happy hour for the whole restaurant, not just at the bar. Would love to do a full dinner here but it's hard to justify when happy hour is so great. They have some great "passport" deals so I'm excited to try brunch here. All in all fabulous food drinks and aesthetics and a great place for happy hour. I'll be back!

Helen K.

Yelp
Yum!!! It's been days since I came here for dinner and I can't stop thinking about the roasted carrot romesco dish! I'll have to go back just for this. I definitely recommend doing the dinner passport (3 items for $39.22 per person) especially if you're coming with another person so you can try a bunch of different dishes! I wish more restaurants had this option! Between my friend and I, we ordered roasted carrot romesco, marinated cucumbers, crispy criolla potatoes, lamb & brisket kebab, charred prawns, rock shrimp & pork dumplings, and chocolate tres leches cake for dessert. I definitely recommend getting the roast carrot dip dish obviously. It comes with some delicious buttered naan (you're going to want to get an extra basket of this hehe) and they are able to make the carrot dish vegan friendly but unfortunately the naan is not vegan (although you can substitute for veggies to dip in). The crispy criolla potatoes I think is one of their more popular dishes and they are cripsed to perfection. If you're looking for one more, I would recommend either the cucumbers or lamb brisket kebab!

Yelp
After hearing so many great comments we had to try for ourselves. Part of the Alexandria Restaurant Group (ARG), this location in the Union Market area is likely their most upscale (menu wise) location yet. Dining with family gave us ample opportunity wing through a number of the small plates. Of special note, the P22 Fried Rice featured as a unique Japanese style omelet with bits of pork, scallops, scallion and a chilie paste and the lamb (which I'm not a big lamb person) were outstanding. The Steak Tartar and Rock Shrimp were very good, while the duck (and don't get me wrong, I LOVE duck) was a bit tougher than I prefer, but still good along with tasty shrimp and octopus. The service was okay, albeit a bit uneven for not a dinner rush (the place was mostly empty when we arrived and about 1/2 full at exit). The missing one star on a 5 star review really was for the price/portions. They are small plates, but at a full price. Of all the ARG places, Palette 22 is definitely high-end food with probably their highest per item (for tasting size) prices. I recommend Palette 22, but probably not for a drop in dining experience, but more for special occasions or entertaining.

Yelp
Pallette 22 the PERFECT place for a cute brunch in NoMa. It doubles as an art gallery, and most, if not all, of the art on the wall is for sale. Great for pictures. The food and drinks are just as great. I will say, if you are a picky eater like me, you might find it challenging to find something on the menu that you like. The food at this restaurant is fancy cuisine. However, as a fellow picky eater, I did find a few things that I liked (I decided on the chicken and waffles). Also-- I must say that the sangrias were my favorite. Probably the best sangrias i've ever tasted. You can tell that they put care into crafting them.

Yelp
Came here for lunch with my girls and why didn't anyone tell me how great this place is? Located right in union market area and have this amazing rooftop! Like the views and vibes are unmatched. But let's get into the food too. It's so good. They have an amazing price do small plates for lunch and dinner. The potatoes and the fried rice were my favorites but honestly it's hard to go wrong here. I didn't like that the gin drink came in like a super shot glass not with the money to me so get a goblet drink for sure!

Yelp
Went here kinda on a whim because it's in the DC Guide to Imbibe and my expectations were blown away. I went when two friends so we did the option on their menu where you can pick I think it was 3 items from any where on the menu u except entrees for a flat rate. I also got buy one get one of the sangria using the guide to imbibe and that was also one of their happy hour deals that day so I got 2 glass of sangria for like $7!!! Unheard of in DC! I wish I remembered our waitresses name because she was just incredibly sweet and answered all of our questions as we picked what we wanted to order. The music in the restaurant was fun and light and we even got to watch an artist live painting something he was working on!! Would highly recommend checking this place out if you are in DC near union market!

Yelp
I've been hearing about Palette 22 in Arlington for years -- particularly their brunch. I never managed to get out there though. And then seemingly out of nowhere, I heard about Palette 22 coming to DC. And on top of that, I have a friend who lives a ~10 min walk away. There's no way I could let this opportunity pass by, so we arranged a time to pay them a visit. I walked from the metro, and easily spotted the P22 on the street corner of the big Union Market building. My buddy was nearby, so we walked in together and the art immediately captures your attention. It's eye-popping and comes from local artists. It's available for purchase too. Before we even got inside, we knew we wanted to sit on the rooftop patio we could see from outside, so we really got to walk through and take everything in. Even if the weather is nice, sitting inside is a treat. The artistry doesn't end at the decor though. We got to ordering food, and oh man. The plates were so colorful! From lamb dip and black bean hummus to charred octopus and roasted beets.. the colors were covering all parts of the wheel. And to make it even better, they tasted great! There wasn't a moment where I thought anything needed more flavor than it had. Did I mention every dip comes with sliced naan? It was so good I immediately thought it would be an excellent base for naan pizza. If you happen to peruse the cocktail list as well, every drink has at least one ingredient that stands out and makes any of the options most likely give you a new experience. Brunch... I must return for brunch! Hopefully this happens soon... By the way, I don't know if this applies to brunch, but the entire dinner menu is small plates. Expect to get 2 or 3 if you're really hungry!

Yelp
I loveeeeee the Palette 22 in Shirlington so was excited to try the new one in Union Market! It keeps the same artsy, fun vibe but is also unique on its own. The menu is similar but not the same for happy hour but still is so affordable. Was excited to see the Suntory highball cocktail and really enjoyed it. The bartenders were friendly and helpful answering questions and making suggestions. We ordered so much food and had multiple rounds of drinks and our bill was shockingly cheap. The music was also great, good vibes all around. Loved this spot and adding it into the rotation of happy hour locations in DC!

Yelp
Palette 22 is an AMAZING and DELICIOUS brunch spot! On Sunday they had a jazz band playing some good live music. Moving on to the brunch, they provide a good deal for ALL YOU CAN EAT and BOTTOMLESS MIMOSAS. You can do both separately, however the combined price for both is pretty worth it. They have so many different options of food you can try. Most of the options are DELICIOUS. For the bottomless drinks menu, they have mimosas with several different flavors, bloody Mary's, mojitos, etc. This was my second time going to Palette 22 and I would definitely come here again and again. Whether it's a brunch outing with friends or for a date, The vibes are immaculate. I might make this one of my go-to brunch spots honestly.

Yelp
Service was horrible they took forever to bring the lamb kebab. Had to request a manager and he said he would bring out multiple ones and still only one came out took over an hour. This was during bottomless brunch. The acai bowl was tasty. The mango lasse had a weird taste. The chicken and waffles were ok loved the waffles, the chicken was 5/10. Bread basket was okay. A nice mix of bread styles. The danish was good. P22 fried rice was amazing would recommend. The scallops the shrimp omg amazing. The bottom part of palette22 is so cute the top is as well. The tucked away section is nice. The music is a tad bit too loud.

Yelp
While I wasn't a fan of my cocktail, a gin sour that came beautifully prepared but underdone as a mixed drink, the food here was pretty good and the patio was great on a warm Friday night. I tried the P22 fried rice and the warm hummus. Like almost every restaurant in America, the hummus was served with not nearly enough pita/naan bread to go around, so we had to ask for a bonus round of naan to finish all the hummus. Luckily, both the naan and the hummus were solid. The fried rice was good; it was rich without being too rich, and had a potpourri of meats and fish swimming around in the large bowl. As an entree, it was plenty of food, so I didn't leave the restaurant hungry. I liked the little touches that come with having so much artwork on the walls and even on the menu. As a production, Palette 22 does the job. The experience was solid and this neighborhood felt vibrant and new; having lived in DC for 15+ years, I don't remember this area being much of anything 10 years ago, so it's great to see so much action in "NoMa" here now.

Yelp
Great new place! Great drinks, service, and food! This was the last stop of my night, so I didn't eat or drink a ton, but was impressed with the atmosphere. Japanese fusion with lots of local art that's for sale on the walls! I got a carrot juice old fashioned and it had great flavors that complimented each other. Can't wait to come again and actually try much more food!

Yelp
I freaking enjoy palette 22, that's it that's all! But seriously, the food is so good. I love the location in Union market, definitely vibes and a better/bigger menu; in my opinion. I 100% recommend!

Yelp
Had the bottomless brunch today with a friend and the menu was amazing. I definitely recommend the pancakes. So fluffy with crispy edges and sweet fresh fruit. The blackbean hummus was really tasty too. The portions are huge so you can order one item to share between two people versus both ordering the same item. The staff is super nice and all the artwork decor is so cool. There actually was an artist live painting during our meal. Totally recommend.

Yelp
Stumbled upon Palette 22 after struggling to find somewhere open on a Monday night. The food was amazing and the cocktail I got was quite good as well! All of the staff were exceptionally welcoming & friendly. While I loved everything I got, the Beef Shishlik blew me away! Definitely get it. The Beet Broani was probably my second favorite if you're looking for a meatless option. The space is filled with unique art (all available for purchase) which is something you don't usually find outside of coffee shops. Great idea! I saw they also have a happy hour with discounted food & drinks which I'll definitely be back for!

Yelp
I went recently for a birthday brunch. Our party was 13 people and the waiter had trouble keeping up. I would go back but with a small party. The food is really good and the interior is very nice.

Yelp
Officially my favorite DC brunch spot! I never thought I'd find the perfect spot but ladies and gentlemen, here it is. Please don't go and overcrowd it. Please don't reserve tables and make it impossible to go back. I'm loving that it's still relatively new and underrated and I can still reserve a table just a day in advance unlike the other places. Jokes aside, the vibes, the food, and the service are unmatched. The variety of flavors and the authenticity are really impressive. I love Palette 22 so much and am so happy to see them expand like this.

Yelp
Interior of the restaurant and even the menu was very creative! Our server was very informative, creating a good experience. Food overall was tasty, especially the Naan.
