Eater’s Guide to the Best Sri Lankan Restaurants in London | Eater London

"Another brightly coloured, long-established Sri Lankan community favourite — don’t fall foul of the demure exterior: the food here is properly punchy. Avoid generic Indian items on its vast menu, and opt for a great range of fiery devilled dishes; or short eats like mutton roti and fish roll. These are tapas-style snacks served in Sri Lanka’s roadside cafés, beach huts and toddy tavern,; often huddled inside a layer of mashed potato, then bread-crumbed and fried. There’s a great choice of kothu, too — stir-fried meat, vegetables, eggs and spices — with either godamba roti (flatbreads), idiyappam (string hoppers) or puttu (steamed rice cake logs). Not to be missed are two of the capital’s best Sri Lankan food shops: Bestfoods next door, and Ganapathy across the road, that sell groceries like orange-hued king coconuts, banana flowers, Madras cucumbers, speciality baked goods, and dozens of varieties of rice in every shade of red." - Sejal Sukhadwala

Tasty and good food 🙌 This restaurant is near the Shiva temple in Wembley. Has ample seating facility, a thoroughly thought menu comprising of starters, set lunch menus etc… Prices are fair around £8-12 based on the dish and service is also good but choosing weekends and peak hours mean they are catering busily and we May have delays. Otherwise a fantastic place to try South Indian and srilankan food menus Definitely try if you visit Wembley and planning for lunch or dinner too 👍

My All-Time Favourite Sri Lankan Restaurant in London I've been a regular visitor to this gem of a restaurant since 2014, and even after moving away from London, it remains my top choice for authentic Sri Lankan cuisine. I finally got the chance to revisit after six years—and I’m happy to say, the taste is still as authentic and wonderful as ever. The South Indian-style fish meals are simply out of this world—flavorful, satisfying, and deeply nostalgic for anyone who’s grown up with or appreciates South Indian/Sri Lankan cuisine. Here’s what I tried on this visit: Seafood Fried Rice: Without a doubt, the best Sri Lankan-Chinese style fried rice I’ve had in the UK. Perfectly balanced with rich flavors and generous seafood portions. Devilled Cuttlefish: Fresh, authentic, and absolutely scrumptious. A must-try for seafood lovers. Chicken Kothu: One of the best I’ve had in the UK—perfectly spiced, hearty, and satisfying. Mutton Chukka: Flavor was solid, but the dish could have been better if the meat pieces were smaller and more tender. It didn’t quite match the bold, intense taste you’d expect from an authentic Madurai-style chukka. Bamboo Special Mutton Biryani: This was a miss for me. It had a very subtle spice profile and an overpowering perfumy aroma that didn’t sit well with me. Not the kind of robust biryani flavor I was hoping for. Despite that one dish, I would never miss the chance to eat here whenever I’m in Wembley. This place remains a true example of authentic Sri Lankan cuisine in London, and I highly recommend it to anyone craving real home-style food with bold, comforting flavors.

Came in, was greeted by wonderfully dressed staff. Great atmosphere, perfect for dates and family outings. Food was incredible, everything was perfectly seasoned and uniquely presented tasted as if it were home cooked. Well worth the price will definitely come again.

RESITA

My recent visit to Palm Beach Restaurant in Wembley deserves every word I can offer. I was wandering through the area, a bit hungry and unsure of what I was in the mood for. That’s when I stumbled across this cozy-looking spot. The experience began with no expectations and ended with me planning my next visit before I’d even left. Let’s talk about the food — it was just WOW ☺️☺️☺️ I ordered a bit of everything, wanting to explore the menu. First came the mutton roll — every bite satisfying. Next was the seafood soup. I expected something light, but what arrived was a bold, hearty bowl of oceanic goodness. MUTTON set meal with string hoppers was a whole experience in itself with aromatic curry. Every element on the plate complemented the other — the sambar, the dhal, the coconut gravy. The egg kothu roti was just amazing. I tried it for the first time ever. And then, unexpectedly, came the deer curry — a dish I’d never tried before. I was curious and slightly hesitant, but one bite in and I was amazed. The meat was tender, and the curry had this rich, earthy spice blend that was unlike anything I’ve tasted. Bold, unique, and deeply satisfying. The warmth of the atmosphere has made our dining experience very good. I would definitely recommend Palm Beach to have a different taste and good food.

Went for dinner. The atmosphere was happening. Crowded and busy. Ordered mutton bone curry, parota and chicken bone briyani. The briyani was top. The flavour and tenderness of the chicken was so good. Very nice. The parota was good but the mutton curry not as expected. The meat was chewy and bland in taste. Disappointed with the curry. Overall good play to go

Absolutely delightful experience at Palm Beach! The authentic Sri Lankan cuisine transported me to the vibrant streets of Colombo. The service was warm and attentive, with our server happily sharing recommendations and stories about the dishes. What truly sets this restaurant apart is its commitment to traditional Sri Lankan flavors and hospitality. Every bite felt like a taste of home for those who know the cuisine, and a discovery for those trying it for the first time. Highly recommend for anyone looking for an authentic Sri Lankan dining experience!
