"Neapolitan pizzeria Bufalina attracts a lot of attention, but New York-style offshoot Palm Pizza has truly excellent pies. Though it doesn’t have the best ambiance — seating is all outdoors and overlooks a parking lot — the pies are incredible. The Palm is a favorite, amped up with melty stracciatella, and thick-crust square slices available in pepperoni or cheese that are a must. Dine in and pair your pizza with wine or cold beer when the weather’s hot, or order online for pickup or delivery." - Erin Russell
"East Austin New York-style pizzeria Palm Pizza introduced a new potato-filled pie this month. The round pizza comes with big round thin slices of Yukon Gold potatoes, which offer a nice texture balance to the mozzarella pie filled with shaved fontina cheese, sprinkles of parsley, zings of garlic, sweet caramelized onions, and rosemary oil drizzles." - Nadia Chaudhury
"Not to rest on their laurels, the people behind the excellent Neapolitan pizzeria Bufalina and Bufalina Due have opened a brand new spot, Palm Pizza on Cesar Chavez in East Austin. Cooked in a gas-fired steel deck oven, the 18-inch pizzas are classic New York-style pies, with a thin, crispy crust, and they’re spectacular. The pizzas taste of New York City (but maybe with less grit and pigeon). The pizzas are only available by pre-order, but there's also a little patio you can grab a picnic table at if you want to eat your dinner close to the source. " - nicolai mccrary, raphael brion
"We’re living in the golden age of pizza, what with the recent debuts of Palm Pizza, Feral Pizza, Allday, Side Eye Slice, and the forthcoming Bambino from the L’Oca d’Oro team." - Erin Russell
"As a big fan of Bufalina and a born-and-raised New Yorker, I was very, very, very excited to check out the restaurant’s new pizzeria. We ordered the namesake Palm, a simple red-sauce pie with stracciatella and mozzarella cheeses. It was a great, simple, and mega-flavorful pizza. All pies are topped with a mess of Parmesan, basil, Sicilian oregano, and extra virgin olive oil for a bit more oomph. And I’m normally not a crust fan, but I did enjoy their’s. The accompanying wine list is great too, focusing on American wines, but don’t miss out of Texas’s own Lightsome’s newest vintage, which is a sparkling mourvedre made with Texas grapes (!!!). Takeout orders can be placed online or in person; there are indoor and outdoor dine-in areas. —Nadia Chaudhury" - Nadia Chaudhury
