Palmettos On The Bayou

We had our son & now daughter in law’s Rehearsal Dinner at Palmettos and everything was amazing! Food was superb! Everyone truly loved the food, the atmosphere & the service! Every special request we made, they responded quickly & with a smile! I highly recommend Palmettos your events! Decorations were by The Party Girl (she’s on Facebook)

Very nice restaurant. We were only able to experience one part of the menu which were appetizers, soups and salads. The choices were flavorful. The drinks were good as well. I will return

I didn't take any pictures of the food. NEXT time I will. The Side Yard was great! The BBQ ribs were so tasty, the potato salad was delish and we did get fire fries appetizer. Yummy! Everyone was so nice and asked us several times how things were. We will be back!

يستاهل ١٠ نجوم مو بس ٥ 👏🏼 we had the filet (10/10) the meat and the gratin were amazing, grilled peach and burrata salad(7/10) i recommend adding dried raspberries instead of the peach and tomatoes; i believe it would give more flavor balance to the salad and would work wonders with the vinaigrette, and the backyard boil flatbread (10/10) it was just beyond perfection; highly recommend ordering it. Our waiter was Michael he was nice, gave us menu recommendations, and made sure that nothing we ordered has alcohol, so our filet came without the sauce as it has alcohol 👍🏻 the staff were friendly and kind. the atmosphere and vibes of the restaurant were perfect. clean.

The Atmosphere n place is the best you ever have. I we t with 20 people. We had no issues. Food was average. No bad a d not the best. No complaints. But the Atmosphere is in a league of its own.

Nice atomsphere with jazz band on certain days. Ambiance is good. Full service bar. Food waa great. On the outside, there is an additional part for bar-b-q with seating and big fans.

Stopped in for a late lunch, the gator tail and fried green tomatoes are great! The chicken and waffles is amazing, they need to bottle the Tabasco honey! So good! The shrimp and grits are really good as well. Service was just a tad slow but they had an event out back so that maybe all it was.

Excellent service. Delicious food. Great atmosphere. We were looking for a late lunch, early dinner place since we were in the area, but we didn't want to hit up our usual haunts. While my wife was doing some shopping on Fremeaux, I found a couple of options, and I chose Palmetto's at the last minute as we were leaving the shopping center. We pulled in to the private, gravel, parking lot and as we approached the rather unassuming entrance, we began to question my choice. Going through the door, however, we were greeted by the friendly staff and a large beautiful dining room. We were given the option to sit outside on the covered, enclosed, porch. While it was cold outside (only a few days past the great southern snow storm of 2025), we happily chose the incredible views and ambience of the "porch" which was warm thanks to several, strategically placed tower heaters. Our service was excellent and our server was incredibly friendly and helpful. The food was very good. We got a smash burger and chicken and waffles, then split them and shared. We were able to have a nice, peaceful and delicious meal with beautiful scenery surrounding us. After our meal, we even took a short walk out to the attached dock on the bayou, which is nestled in big, beautiful cypress trees covered in Spanish moss. Overall, the experience was very enjoyable and we will absolutely be going back to Palmetto's!

Tried Sunday Brunch here..I really didn't know about the buffet..I'm not a fan of those at all! I did give it a try..the food was average, not a fan of it..the best thing I had was the waffles and Bayou Breeze drink..the setting is super cute but the buffet threw me off! The server he wasn't around as much, had to look for him to get our check..there is a live jazz band tho..I didn't get a picture of none of the food..the bill came up to $102 for 2 people..geesh for a buffet

Stopped in here on an extended commute home. Had always wanted to try it so when I saw the sign on the interstate I pulled off. Great impressions from the get go. The place was beautiful, outside covered in Christmas lights. The inside was very nice. Had a wonderful bartender named Jason serve me. Extremely polite, helpful, and poured a good drink. For an appetizer I had the pork belly. It was decadent. For an entree I ordered the duck. It was amazing. Some of the best duck I've had in a long time. Will 100% be back with friends next time!

Absolutely amazing! The ambience, the food, the entire experience, it was all top-notch. My favorite part was sitting outside on the patio; it was so cute and peaceful. I can't wait to go back and enjoy it all over again!

I came here as our first stop of road trip. The interior was amazing. Food was good. The service was really nice. They introduced the bayou a little and we got to walk around after dinner. I would love to come back here again.

Had the pleasure of visiting this place for the Sunday jazz brunch. We loved it. The ambiance was breathtaking and the food menu was impeccable. My only complaint was our reservation was for 2pm and they didn't do a good job of refilling the food towards the end of the day. Next time I'm going to book our reservation earlier so we can take advantage of a refill. Everything is mostly out after 3pm.

We came here on the way to the airport and are definitely going to return. We were too late for Saturday brunch and too early for dinner, so we were told they were only serving appetizers. This was fine with us, and if their appetizers are any indication of all of their dining experiences, then this is one of the best places we've eaten on the coast. It's a beautiful restaurant in a beautiful setting, and I wish I had taken more pictures but we were enthusiastic! Our server was really kind and professional as well. Highly recommend this gem.

The ambience was nice. There was a 2 piece band playing Jazz, it was a little too loud, but nice to hear music. The food was "okay" not the best. I ordered BBQ shrimp and grits and the shrimp were small and in gravy, definitely not BBQ. The toast that came with pesto on it was dry and tasteless. My work group returned the next day and I opted for a cup of gumbo that was okay and a pear salad that was excellent. Overall would probably come back for the ambience, but would really be selective on the food.

This was our second time here and we went for Christmas Eve brunch! Even though it was raining, the outside patio was wonderful. It's covered and closed in and had heaters as well. The staff were all extremely friendly and welcoming. The food was amazing! Their custom drinks are delicious too! Our waiter Garrett was fantastic and helped us decide on the perfect dessert.

Beautiful location with amazing food and fantastic service. Take the time to sit on the patio and just enjoy the experience. I failed to take good pictures because the food was so good. We started off with the chargrilled oysters that were plump and buttery and delicious. We ordered the special, a 16oz bone-in steak with crab on top and a blue cheese butter. It was fantastic. They also accommodated our request to make broiled Brussels sprouts which were the best I've ever had. Then afterwards as they were closing down, Jorge took the time to show us around the whole place and the expansion, and was very hospitable and excited about some of the updates. This is the definitely the place to be and is only getting better.

The catfish was delightfully crispy and packed with flavor, while the steak was tender and juicy. The chargrilled oysters were absolutely outstanding--easily the highlight of the meal. However, the gumbo fell short; it lacked flavor and seemed almost unseasoned. On a positive note, the outdoor area was beautifully designed, providing a pleasant ambiance that enhanced the overall experience.

Finally got to go to Palmettos On The Bayou! Absolutely gorgeous restaurant with fantastic food & service. I had the Butternut Squash Ravioli appetizer which also came with huge Royal Red shrimp. Delicious! Tim got a bowl of Duck & Tasso Gumbo which was super good as well. We didn't get to sit outside because they were booked up with reservations but will definitely make sure to do that next time because the outside area on Bayou Bonfouca is STUNNING. Will be going back as much as possible.

Best BBQ shrimp & grits I've had in 5 years! I do live in Dallas though, lol. But my family does live here. So def know whats up with real creole vs hollywood fake. Nice old southern ambiance as well. Pricey, but worth it to me.

Absolutely amazing. We were in town for a play and had long heard about Palmettos but never ventured from New Orleans before. The setting is rustic/sheik but with an upscale twist to it. The service was amazing and the food was outstanding. They made an off the menu vegetarian pasta for me that was one of the freshest and most innovative plates I've had in a while. Wonderful flavors flowed from every course we ordered. The beer and wine selection is interesting and inventive. It's worth the trip from New Orleans. We will be back for sure.

Everyone was friendly and the food was amazing!!!! The setting was beautiful and the food made me feel good and they have everything!! The Sunday Jazz brunch was really fun, and the buffet was delicious and had tons of options! Couldn't recommend the restaurant more!

Went back after a two year hiatus due to travel and once again this place was TOP NOTCH and one of the best meals ever. Great service, great food and amazing setting! If you are passing Slidell, be sure and give Palmettos a try. This place is a true gem.

I'm not lying when I tell you I had one of the best meals I've had in ages a few weeks ago at Palmetto's on the Bayou. If you haven't been to this Slidell gem... RUN THERE NOW! The ambiance is top notch, the food is delicious, and the staff is amazing! It is well worth the drive from New Orleans. What we got: Chargrilled Oysters Warm Crab and Artichoke Dip Hanger Steak and Frites Crab Cake Benedict Pumpkin Spice White Russian S'mores Dark Chocolate Pot Au Creme Apple Crisp Cheesecake 100000/10 would recommend everything!

I had a reservation for my birthday and then was denied entry because they were overbooked. They sat a table of 2 right before me and my guest, and then didn't have a table available. This is after they called me to confirm the reservation. Can't even rate the food. Just overly frustrated on my birthday. This was a waste of gas and time, as I live 45 minutes away.

Lately it has been very hard on restaurants with a shortage of willing workers and the ever-increasing food prices. I get it but I would like to see higher prices on the menus rather than sub par ingredients. Palmetto's used to be SO good. Sigh. Sunday I joined friends for Brunch and there was not one item on the buffet I thought was up to their standards. Sorry. Perhaps it was because it was one of those "all you can eat" things? I won't do it again but I will try dinner again where I can order off the menu.

We're down from New England visiting relatives and relied on Yelp for a good lunch spot. Palmettos came highly recommended and didn't disappoint. The service was prompt and attentive. My wife had the wedge salad and biscuits with jam. My cousin had the house salad and gumbo soup, I opted for the house salad and shrimp and grits (which is the best thing I've eaten since we've been in the area). Salad greens were fresh, crispy and delicious. My wife shared the biscuits (3 in the order) and they were flaky and delicious. The atmosphere of the restaurant was delightful. Would definitely go back.

Shocked how bad this restaurant has become. Used to be best in Slidell. The gumbo had rock hard rice in it. The bartender couldn't make an old fashioned to save his life and they're charging $13 a drink. Hope they can get things back on track!

I'm back in Slidell for business trip and I can't wait to dine again at this restaurant. I was here 2 years ago. We dined last night .. and always Happy Tummy! The food is phenomenal! I ordered steak ( Special on their menu for the day) and my coworker ordered Gulf fish Amandine. Key lime cheese cake for dessert and Pineapple upside down for dessert, we both split our food and we very satisfied and one of the best meals we had since we got here in Lousiana. Shout out to our beautiful server KAT for an outstanding service! I recommend this place if your want a very delicious, good ambiance and great service! This is my other favorite restaurant in Slidell . Thank you again!

I've been here about 3-4 times now and whether for a special event or on a casual date night, Palmetto's never disappoints! Their selection of food... chef's kiss. They switch up their menu choices every so often, so you can stick with a favorite or you can try something new. This time, we chose the Hanger Steak & Frites as well as the Fried Soft Shell Crab as their special. Their service is great, attentive & timely. Compliments to the chef & staff! We highly recommend anyone thinking about eating here, just do it. You won't regret it!

Love the ambiance at Palmettos! I've been several times now for brunch on Sundays! I love going on Sundays because that's when the patio has the live music! The service is good. The boudin Benedict is good! Its always a great experience! I'll have to stop in for dinner!

We had our wedding dinner at Palmettos & it was perfect! Planning with Brittany a breeze & the location & setup was stunning. Rachel & her team did a phenomenal job taking care of our guests & everyone had nothing but fantastic reviews of the food & open bar service! The food was great! The service was excellent! The ambiance was amazing! The live music was on point! I would definitely go this slice of heaven on Earth the next time that I visit Slidell, LA and I would definitely recommend to family and friends in Slidell and New Orleans!

I never leave a review but feel I must after such an awful experience. My sister and mom And I got together for early Mother's Day and didn't have good food. We are ordered a steak and it was the worst meat ever. Tough, undercooked and just a nasty cut of meat. We complained and my sister didn't have to pay for hers but she could only take two bites. Will never order steak there again if we ever return. My mom and sister both had some serious stomach issues quickly afterwards as well . Don't order steak!!!!!

We sat on the patio and I had a view of the "bayou" it was intimate and beautiful. The food was outstanding. We had the pork belly for an appetizer and the ribeye for main course. It was a great meal.

Dining at Palmettos on the Bayou was a true experience. The food was beautifully presented and so were the delicious and refreshing cocktails. You can tell that the chef is a true artist by the flavors .. The fresh herbs and spices pair nicely with each dish . I've visited twice , once in the fall and once in the spring . Each time the meals were prepared with the seasons in mind . I love the atmosphere as well . It is very warm and inviting . The staff were very attentive as soon as a dish was finished the next course followed in the perfect amount of time . Definitely a place of class and amazing hospitality.

Great atmosphere and food. It sits on a bayou and feels like you're in rural Louisiana when in actuality you are in s major suburb of New Orleans.

None of the entrees on the menu particularly interested me so we got an array of appetizers. Overall, the appetizers were decent and the place is beautiful which is probably its biggest selling point. Lots of great areas for pictures and service is very good. Our waiter was very helpful and friendly.

Food was as good as I've had. Service was even better and the ambiance, well, just look at the pictures. Waterfront setting, Cypress trees, Spanish moss. Don't get no better.

We went for brunch had a party of 11. We did call ahead and make reservations so we were sat quickly once arriving. The live music on the patio was a nice touch. The chicken and waffles were absolutely delish! Also go the lemon/blueberry/banana bread to try and it was mouth watering! I have been looking for a recipe since we got home.

Good food and service but the ribeye was absolutely awful.. maybe leave the steaks to a steakhouse -- it tasted so bad.

The rustic restaurant is set in a lush setting at the end of Slidell's historic section of town. The food was delectable, the service was excellent, and the location was charming with plenty of room for parties and events. I emphatically recommend it.

TL;DR: One of the top 3 restaurants I've eaten at EVER. If I could rate it 6 stars, I would. My wife was even surprised at how much I enjoyed the food as she knows i'm a sort of "food snob". I had the Pan Seared Duck Breast, absolutely fantastic. Tender, tons of flavor, perfect portion size. She had a burger, as she's much less culinarily-adventurous, and even that was fantastic. We also asked for the biscuits, which I believe they only prepare during brunch, and our (friendly and awesome) waitress said she'd ask if we could get some anyway. She returned with the most perfectly cooked buttermilk biscuits that we're crunchy on the outside and flaky inside. The view is amazing, we sat out on the deck facing the waterway for about 20 minutes after dinner just to enjoy the calm waters. Our waitress took pictures for us with no hesitation. Definitely try to get outdoor seating. Seriously, my wife and I are still talking about how good the food and overall experience was. We're from San Diego, and I would 110% take a flight out here to eat at this restaurant again and again.

Atmosphere was great but service and food was just meh. My husband ordered a pork chop and it was so dry it was inedible. When the server made her first rounds after our meals were dropped she asked how everything was, my husband mentioned how dry his food was and the server literally did nothing. It was so odd. I think she may have said something about there being new chef in the kitchen but that did nothing to fix my husband's meal. It was the first time I'd ever seen him not finish his entree. We brought it home and gave it to our dogs.

The building, outdoor dining area, and grounds are stunning. Truly a beautiful southern Louisiana scene. We did the Sunday Jazz Brunch. I had the Crab Cakes Benedict and my mom had the cup of gumbo and the chicken with biscuit and gravy. We also had a Bloody Mary each. As much as I loved the ambience and live jazz, I was equally underwhelmed by the food. The crab cakes didn't have any flavor at all. The chicken and biscuits with gravy was just okay. It was a little bland and had some odd slaw garnish. My mom liked the gumbo but I thought it was way too thick and tasted like brown gravy. Neither of us finished our Bloody Mary's. I had a few sips and my mom had maybe half. They just didn't taste good. A little watery and just wrong. I think overall everything was basically missing a depth of flavor. We also felt a bit rushed as the waitress asked me if I wanted a to-go container while my mom was still eating. Overall, meh. I give it three stars because it's a beautiful restaurant, we were seated promptly and service was overall good.

This restaurant is great for any occasion. The view is beautiful. It gives you the Bayou feel. The food is excellent and the staff courteous.

Had my wedding at Palmettos on 09-23-2023! Brittany Mott was absolutely amazing at coordinating everything. She helped make the night run smoothly, avoiding any mishaps. She was very personable and helped out any way that she could. Having an outdoor ceremony in LA can be a risk, it started raining 2 hours before our start time but we were lucky it stopped! Staff were out wiping all the chairs and perfecting the ceremony area with time to spare! I'm so happy we picked them for our venue. We got so many compliments on the scenery and not to mention how delicious the food was! The night was magical and one I will never forget Photos by Whitney at les petits bijoux photography

Great atmosphere, but service was very slow. Food was okay, but they made a couple mistakes with our order. Appetizer finally came with our lunch, but our shrimp was smothered in sauce instead of served on the side as we had requested. Waitress was very apologetic. Maybe their evening meals are better.
