LA’s New Restaurant Openings

"Palms N’ Patties is a minimalist burger spot in Santa Monica that has serves just three things: cheeseburgers, grilled smashburgers with inside-out buns, and fries cooked in beef tallow. And fans of “clean ingredients” will be glad that learn it’s all made with grass-fed beef and zero seed oils." - cathy park

7 Houston Starters That Are The Main Event - Houston - The Infatuation

"Even though stewed oxtails and tender jerk chicken are on the menu, the golden beef patties hold their own as the star of Reggae Hut. A mountain of finely minced beef brimming with scotch bonnet spice stuffed inside a shell of flaky breaded crust is worth the inevitable crumb fallout. Grab a patty during your lunch break or wedge it between a slice of coco bread to make it an entire meal." - gianni greene, chelsea thomas, chelsea thomas, gianni greene, chelsea thomas, gianni greene, chelsea thomas, gianni greene, chelsea thomas

Google
The grass-fed, grass-finished smash burger was on a whole different level. You can literally taste the quality of the meat — that clean, rich flavor you only get when the beef is raised right. The crust on the patty was perfect: crispy, caramelized, and full of that savory depth that only happens when someone really knows what they’re doing on the grill. And the way it all came together… the homemade sauce melting into the layers, the juices from the beef soaking just slightly into the bun, the aroma hitting you before you even take a bite — it was unreal. You can tell there’s so much intention behind it, from the way they smash the patty to the exact sear they go for. What makes it even better is knowing they put love into the process. Everyone there is so educated and genuinely passionate about serving clean, nutrient-dense food. As someone who’s big on health-conscious choices, it felt amazing to eat something that was not only delicious but made with quality, respect, and real care.

Google
It's over hyped. It's alright. Nothing wrong with it, but nothing stand out either. The patty flavor didn't come through at all, I could barely taste the beef. The burgers are also a bit small, even as a double. The sauce is good but a bit sweet, and the pickles were soggy and floppy. Didn't really care for the pretty plain tasting diced onion either. Bun and cheese were good, and it did have a pretty good technical lace. I had the Parmesan fries also. The thousand island sauce is pretty tasty but again, a hair too sweet. They were generous with the Parmesan cheese and blanketed the entire tray but Parmesan isn't really the best choice for an animal style fry.. it doesn't melt at all and doesn't jive in flavor as well as something like American. The fries themselves were tasty. A bit like an elevated McDonald's, which is compliment. They were very good. Unfortunately I found the burger to be too unmemorable to desire trying again. There's a million burger joints popping up every day and some are properly special, so it takes a lot more than I felt the flavors here offered to truly stand out. It's fine though, you might love it. It's worth a try. For me, it was average 7/10

Google
I was so excited to try this place out because of the reviews and how good the burgers looked. I can honestly say this is one of the best smashburgers I have had, better than most places in NYC and LA. However, I am so disappointed in how horrible the fries were. I got the Parmesan fries and as you can tell from my photo they were soggy and disgusting. 0/10. I easily would have given 5 stars if it weren't for how the fries ruined my meal, which was not cheap at $22.

Google
Fries are always undercooked & cold (or just room temperature). Should be more golden color! And crispy. Other than that, this place is great. Love that everything is seed-oil free & they only use tallow. Hamburgers are great.

Google
Visited on a Sunday afternoon, not overly busy and enough seating inside. Ordered the smash burger and fries and can confidently say it’s the best smash burger I’ve had so far. The fries were good too and they give plenty of them! Sauces were great but slightly on the pricier side considering they’re quite small pots

Google
Basic burger joint no frills. Burgers and fries We were not disappointed. We ordered the meat cheese and bun with fries. The burger looked like a grilled cheese with a burger patty, Shoe strings fries well seasoned. We would go back

Google
I saw this place on Instagram; the video and pics of the burgers looked great. We drove 45 minutes to try them. To our surprise, we got the triple, and you can get the same burger at McDonald's. Do not work the price, the flavor is not even good. Very disappointing

Google
Great smash burger and fries! Tho the wait time is a bit long today they threw in a fries for me for waiting so long. Awesome place will come back again! This place is in a food plaza so the seating is limited and shared with other shops.

Yelp
It's in a small food court next to Katy's Bar (Japanese sandwiches and chicken) and a smoothie bar. Counter service with bar style seating. This place is new so on a Saturday night I was the only live customer though it seems they do a good takeout delivery business. Very affordable grass fed burger for $7.77! fries cooked in beef tallow burger was small but tasty. Fries out of this world!! Crispy! Like McDonald's, french fries as a kid, which, in fact, at that time were still fried i. beeftall Note is that it's a very small menu basically just a cheeseburger and a Smashburger and fries and drinks

Yelp
I was torn between leaving a 4 or 5 star review. I went with a 4 because even though the burger was good, it wasn't amazing. Let me say the price of the burger is great at under $8, but the fries stole the show haha. The fries were definitely the best part of my meal. They cook the fries in beef oil which I think is what makes it extra yummy. They have it listed on the menu so that's nice for my vegans/vegetarian friends. They have a very select menu right now with two burger options, and you can add extra patties and what not if you'd like. The burger options are the regular burger or a smash burger. I ordered the regular burger. At first glance I thought they gave me the smash burger. I guess they smash the patty no matter which burger you get. I heard the smashed is where they also grill the bun.

Yelp
Pros: Burger was delicious. Thin and crispy patties. Yummy sauce. Fries were crispy and flavorful, but nothing out of the ordinary. Cons: It took 45 minutes for the order to be ready. Granted, it was during lunch hour and there was only one staff member working. While I sympathize with this, that is way way too long for a simple burger and fries.

Yelp
It's new yet they have it down!!! Delicious smash and regular burgers(I prefer a double) and the fries are what Micky D's used to be like many years ago and crispy fried in tallow so good!!! Oh and the sauce that's house made is also really tasty you'll want to get some on the side as it's good for dipping the fries in too...I love a delicious sauce and they've achieved it! Super nice people working there too!!! It's a win win!!!! So happy we have high quality grass fed burgers close by!!!

Yelp
New burger joint by the house. Gave them a try and found it to be fairly decent. Smash burger style, with the reverse bun. Compared to its peers (HiHo, Heavy Handed, Burger She Wrote) I personally feel Palms needs to do a little more to stand out. I easily ate 2 doubles and I'm not a big guy. Adjusting price or bigger portions would have me come back. Crowded when we came in for takeout, so they must be doing something right!

Yelp
Great food with clean ingredients. Grass fed beef, tallow fries, organic ketchup. Staff very friendly.

Yelp
Been waiting a while for this place to open... and it was well worth it. Possibly the best smashburger in Los Angeles. And finally some fries to rival my fever dream memories of McDonalds in the the '70s. Fast turn, great service, overall great. Looking forward to becoming a regular.

Yelp
Love this place! Great ingredients - grass fed burgers, organic ketchup, beef tallow fries - at reasonable prices!

Yelp
YUM! Finally it's here a seed oil free grass fed organic burger place. The smash burger was amazing, and perfectly seasoned. The owner Roston was there and suggested the double smash and I went w his recc. He was really nice and I could tell he truly cares about the quality of the food coming out of his kitchen. French fry portion is huge too. The food came out so fast, will definitely be back again. Price is extremely fair for such high quality ingredients.

Yelp
Smash burger is good. Ambiance is nice. Service was kind and they had a good color scheme

Yelp
Our new favorite burger place on the west side. Counter style service but made clean and with care. 100% grass fed burger patties, fries cooked in beef tallow and even organic ketchup packets. Absolutely delicious for the price. Burger is outstanding (we went with the grilled smash), crispy fries and wonderful house made aioli. The owner is a really nice guy as well. Wish him the best of luck!

Yelp
Loved that the beef is grass fed and they don't use seed oil. The portion is a bit small but delicious!

Ella G.

Yelp
It was really good! Pretty cheap but also the burger was a little small. It was also pretty hard to find.

Yelp
I stopped by today and tried their double cheeseburger; it's my new favorite burger spot on in my area! The bread and butter pickles make the burger! Also amazing customer service.
