Where To Enjoy A Small Mountain Of Meat In Miami - Miami - The Infatuation

"This Colombian spot’s empanadas, morcillas, and beefy pots of sancocho bring a pop of excitement to Edgewater’s forest of glassy residential towers. Just know that they're lying when they tell you the picada feeds two—it actually feeds three plus a child after a relay race. This meat mountain comes with chicken, crisp chicharron, morcilla, chorizo, steak, and weighs about the same as a preteen (in dog years) golden retriever. Underneath this grilled protein pyramid is a hefty pile of thick-cut fries. Prepare to enjoy this for the next week." - mariana trabanino, ryan pfeffer, virginia otazo

Palo Quemao Review - Edgewater - Miami - The Infatuation

"This Colombian spot’s empanadas, morcillas, and beefy pots of sancocho bring a pop of excitement to Edgewater’s forest of glassy residential towers. Whether you come for lunch or dinner, arrive very hungry and say yes to anything they recommend. Just know that they're lying when they tell you the picada feeds two—it actually feeds three plus a child after a relay race. Edgewater desperately needs a place like Palo Quemao. Food Rundown photo credit: Tasty Planet Sancocho De Res This hearty beef soup is deceiving to the eyes. The foggy broth only shows two pieces of beef floating about. But once you swirl your spoon around, you feel enough meat, carrots, and potatoes to last you an extra day. It’s an all-around excellent soup. video credit: Mariana Trabanino Tostones Con Hogao Start your meal with this. The chunky hogao is tangy, salty, and tastes so good, we’d happily eat it on its own like soup. But topping the hot salsa onto the thick tostones is the most delicious way to go. photo credit: Mariana Trabanino Picada Personal This meat mountain comes with chicken, crisp chicharron, morcilla, chorizo, steak, and weighs about the same as a golden retriever puppy. Google
I visited the location in downtown Miami and not only was the food delicious and generous portions but the service was outstanding. The atmosphere was lively with latin music. Our server Alexander displayed a genuine smile all the time and provided undivided attention. This is definitely a place to come back to.

Google
2.75⭐️ The decor and interiors feel cold. I would stick with the appetizers; they are decent. The main dishes are disappointing. Without going into details; wayyy too greasy, not the best quality, has poor flavor, and below-average cooking. The service is decent and friendly. Sorry, I have to pass…

Google
Palo Quemao was such a great find…the food was delicious and tasted just like home. Everything was fresh, super flavorful, and you could tell they really cared about what they served. The vibe was cozy, the staff was friendly, and it was the perfect spot when I was craving real Colombian food. I’ll definitely be back!

Google
Great Colombian spot in Miami! Tequeños are tasty (though more Venezuelan-style) and the sopa de res is delicious. Small place with indoor/outdoor seating, was packed inside due to heat, so a short wait and I seated at the bar. Friendly service & amazing food! Worth a visit.

Google
Great location and good food. Portions are great and the price is not bad. Outside seating on a nice day adds to the experience.

Google
I was disappointed with the quality of the food when I ordered for take out! My wife is Colombian straight Paisa, and we called to complain and the first thing the “manager” said was that she didn’t know what a bandeja paisa was. It’s embarrassing to eat a piece of chicharrón with beans straight from the can. The arepa con queso is just mozzarella slapped on top of the arepa. This is embarrassing to real Colombians. Here are the pictures, I won’t be ordering from here ever again! I don’t recommend this place to any Colombians. Be aware!!

Google

Yelp
My friend was visiting from NC and asked me a good place to visit. I mentioned this place right away because it was on my list of places to visit. We sat outside and Aurora was our server. Everything looks and smells great. If you have passed by there, you will know. We ordered a picada personal and a few Aguilas. I will be back again for sure. Great food and service.

Yelp
I have always wondered about Palo Quemao and finally tried it a couple of months ago. I had a friend visiting and he loves Colombian food. We got there and luckily we were able to get a table for 3. Bigger parties were waiting outside for tables so we were really lucky! To start I ordered a Lulo juice, I fell in love with this fruit when I visited Colombia and I was so happy they had it on the menu! My boyfriend and friend both got some Colombian soda, Postobon and they liked it. To start we shared some Arepas con Queso, good but way too greasy, Tequeños, which were delicious, and Cheese Empanadas which were big, yummy, and greasy too. We also got the Bandeja Paisa which was huge! Perfect for 2-3 people and I got a side of the rice and beans because I couldn't get over how good they were! The place is cute and clean and the server was welcoming.

Yelp
Hidden Colombian Gem on Biscayne Boulevard. Amazing food, great service and prices. The Pechuga de Parilla was delicious. Ended the meal with an espresso, flan and quatro leches

Yelp
I'd give them all the stars on this app if I could. This place is awesome! Great customer service, the food is consistently great and the prices aren't bad at all. I normally get the fried fish with rice, beans, plantains, yuca fries, maybe some grilled chicken.. whatever you decide will be delicious. Nice music, great for families or a night out. The outdoor seating is a plus. Can't wait to come back

Yelp
Brought an out of town friend here! We really enjoyed our meal here - service was super friendly, and the food was exactly what we were looking for. Weather was good, so we sat at one of the many tables outside. We got three things - the Ajiaca Santafereno (chicken soup), empanadas, and the Bandeja Paisa to try a bunch of different proteins. We found this place because I searched "soup" near "my current location." We were not disappointed by the Ajiaca Santafereno It was hearty, flavorful, and exactly what I wanted. We liked the crispness of the empanadas. As two Asian Americans, both of us were big fans of the pork belly and liked how the rice is a little different from Chinese / Vietnamese rice. Wasn't obsessed with the steak in this order, but we liked everything else in the Bandeja Paisa. Will be returning with my husband! This is a great spot for something that feels a little more homey, but elevated.

Yelp
Place is very nice, customer service excellent and the food is amazing!! You Must Go!! I love this place lo recomiendo!!

Yelp
I moved right down the street and tried this restaurant with my son for the first time. We ordered empanadas, cazuela de carne, and cazuela de cerdo. Very flavorful with large portions. I really liked how it was a small and intimate setting. The only thing I think the place needs to work on is that the server was impatient and was clearing the table and trying to take our food before we were finished which was off putting. Otherwise it was a positive experience and would definitely return.

Yelp
Amazing food for a great price! Service was great as well. I had the fried fish and ate the entire thing... so delicious!

Yelp
Food was very good and freshly made. Service was very good as well well attended and ambiance was great. We got to sit outside during lunch in the sun but with shade provided. Would go back

Yelp
No matter the time of day, this place is packed! Cute little spot on the 1st floor of the City 24 residential Building, they have a nice outdoor dinning area & always play fun/cheerful latin music. Definitely gets you in a good mood! I've gone on weekends after the gym for a quick bite, after work with friends and ordered take out. I do find it a little over priced for basic latin food, but i guess it makes up for ambiance & portion size. My favorites are the soups & the empanadas, i've had friends rave about the bandeja paisa, i agree that it's delicious but the portion seems to feed 3! The staff is friendly, and orders typically come out quickly.
google avatar

Andrea Z.

Yelp
Food was delicious and a great portion sizes. Additionally, service was quick and server was attentive! I forgot to take more pictures but we ordered the tequenos, picada personal (contains Steak, Blood Colombian sausage, chicken, pork belly, Colombian sausage, French fries & corn cake), and salad. Since we had so much meat, we decided to order a side salad. When the salad arrived, I was expecting more leafy greens but it was mostly tomato with some avocado. The menu didn't include a picture so I didn't know what to expect, but the salad was good. We wanted to be seated outside to enjoy the nice Miami weather but it is located alongside a busy road and there were several times where we had to pause the conversation because ambulances / firetrucks / police cars were blaring (no fault to the restaurant but something to keep when eating here). I will definitely be back here!

Yelp
Palo Quemao is so good! I'm stuckkkk on their Sancocho De Res (beef soup) & Bandeja Paisa dishes. But I'm almost sure everything is good because as many times as I've had it, they have NEVER missed. Just fresh and good and juicy + great portions! The restaurant is clean and the service is amazing, the waiters are so attentive.

Yelp
A convenient doordash option while visiting Miami. Unfortunately because I was in Miami for a work trip, I was also still working west coast hours and having to eat dinner in my room over meetings. The projections for delivery were on point and they only delivered to the front desk and not to the room, so be prepared to go down to grab the takeout. I got a carne bowl, caldo, and guanabana juice. Everything was so good and reminded me of my grandmother in laws cooking! I especially loved the caldo which had a lot of shredded chicken, big chunks of potato and authentic Latin flavors. The guanabana juice was super sweet but refreshing. A great to go dinner.
google avatar

Antonio L.

Yelp
This place has amazing food and staff. The food was very tasty and had so much flavor. If you're ever in Miami and want some great Colombian food at very good prices this is the place to go to.
google avatar

Fabi M.

Yelp
Loved this place! Didn't plan on eating here and stumbled upon it on maps. Exceeded my expectations for sure! The tequeños were AMAZING! Perfectly crisp on the outside and melted on the inside just like they should be (not all places make them well lol) . we got the parilla for 4 which was HUGEEE couldn't even finish it . The server was very attentive with us.

Yelp
google avatar

Veronica P.

Yelp
Palo Quemao (@paloquemao.miami) has all the delicious Colombian staples, including bandeja paisa, ajiaco (chicken soup), empanadas colombianas, and natural fruit juices made with fruit local to Colombia: lulo, guanabana, etc. It is the better of the Colombian restaurants in the Edgewater/downtown area, though the chicken does come out a bit dry, sometimes. Add me on IG @MiamiCheatDays for more recommendations!

Yelp
This was definitely the best meal I had on my trip to Miami. They are clearly set up for success both as a restaurant and as a carry out establishment. When you first walk in you feel like you've entered a small walk up café somewhere in Latin America. The wait staff speaks broken English, but certainly made an effort to be friendly to me during my visit. The decor is simple, but the little touches give it an intimate relaxed feeling. I was at ease pretty much the minute I walked in the door. The food was absolutely magnificent. I began with an order of their cheese bread, which is essentially a tortilla cut into quarters with melted cheese. Whatever type of cheese they're using it was absolutely terrific. My entrée was a oversize piece of grilled chicken with rice and beans. Grilled chicken is very difficult to get right sometimes, and this place gets it perfect. The chicken was moist and tender and seasoned perfectly. Pricing is appropriate for an establishment of this quality. I would absolutely come back!
google avatar

Nadjalisse R.

Yelp
Friendly service, good Colombian soul food! Not pictured but worthy of a mention was the Lulo green juice, which was delicious and a must try! Metered street parking is generally available.
google avatar

Nicole V.

Yelp
Came here after work on a Tuesday. It's located right in biscayne blvd (street parking) on a corner and easy to access. They had both indoor and outdoor seating, with fan available. We were seated immediately and service was overall quick! We ordered the antojitos for the table along with a maracuyá and mora juice. I have to say, probably one of the best juices I've had. I've tried mora in other spots but normally they are watered down. As for the plate, everything tasted fresh and it came along with picante and sauces. For dessert, I did milo. It was okay, nothing out of the ordinary. Would come back though to try more dishes. Staff was attentive, place was clean, and food was good at a decent price!

Yelp
After a very active Saturday (close to 9000 steps on my Apple Watch) I ended up here for dinner since it was walking distance from where my evening ended. I'd driven by other times since it is right on Biscayne Boulevard but never stopped by as I didn't find parking. It's a cozy, casual spot in the lobby of a condo with a view of street life. Since I ate on the terrace, it is also dog friendly! The menu is very meat centric with Colombian "comfort food" dishes such as vandeja paisa and empanadas. Trying to be somewhat healthy (and leave the calories for dessert) I enjoyed a well cooked pollo a la plancha (chicken breast), red beans and perfectly crispy tostones. The chicken breast was pretty sizeable and had a good hint of smokiness. While their bar menu is limited to beer and wine, I did enjoy a couple of glasses of Pinot Grigio. Speaking of dessert- and one of those wine glasses - their cuatro leches is a must have. It has a nice dulce de leche topping and creamy filling, making your sweet tooth very happy.

Yelp
We are staying at an airbnb nearby so decided to stop by for a snack given the good soup reviews. We had the chicken soup, green plantain appetizer and 3 juices. This place is such a gem. We love it. Sat outside at the patio by the street. Chicken soup is authentic and so tasty. Only $13.50. Very flavorful and not salty. Tostones with the Colombian tomato sauce hot and yummy. $6.95. We had the guanabana, mango, mora (blackberry) $5 each and so worth it. Loved everything. We will be back.

Natalia P.

Yelp
Colombian food! Food was great- The drink of a pitcher with 2 beers with a Colombiana was exactly what we needed. Difficult to fine parking. They have outside seating but during the Miami summers it might be too hot. They kept going in out so it was difficult for the AC to cool off the restaurant.
google avatar

Anton P.

Yelp
This place is located right on the Biscayne Blvd so it's been on my mind for a while and finally we stopped by for a quick dinner. No reservation needed, this is a super casual place. The service was quick and in Spanish, I think they know English but probably prefer to speak Spanish. Food quality and prices are really unbeatable I definitely recommend getting the picada for 2, the portion is massive and it's enough food for two people for sure. The salad is a bit subpar so I would not order that again.
google avatar

Alba G.

Yelp
I really liked this place the salad they had was exceptional. Server was very nice! I loved the ambience here. The juice I had was okay. Chicken was pretty tasty and the rice too. Plantains was super flavorful. It's reasonably priced too so this place wasn't so bad! I would try other dishes but will come back here for the salad because that was truly the star of the meal.
google avatar

Sandra J.

Yelp
Food was really good, and prices were right, we might be back for takeout. Service sucked BIG time our main server Odalis was terrible , she had a really bad attitude, nasty , and all over rude, two other male servers were super nice though. The place is really cute , unfortunately the smell of food was bad and we came out smelling like fried food and the floor inside was very slippery, because of the humidity hard and kind of dangerous to walk , there was guy trying his best to keep the floor dry but the mix of the A/C and the door open didn't help.
google avatar

Celia S.

Yelp
I LOVE this restaurant. No matter what you order or what time you go Palo Quemao will not disappoint! The service is immaculate. They really know how to make you feel welcomed. The food is extremely delicious. I have been going almost weekly and I've always left with a huge smile. Such a simple and cozy place. If I could give them 10 stars I would.
google avatar

Nicolas G.

Yelp
Is fast , Latin and convenient! Classic Latino dishes and great view to Biscayne show
google avatar

Alberto M.

Yelp
When you have competition you have to find ways to go above your competition and this place did it. Nicely located a few miles north of downtown Miami I found this place. The food was excellent with flavors typical of Colombia and the serving style the same. Juices and appetizers were on point and the ambience was excellent. Love it and definitely will come back. My family love it their meal as well.
google avatar

Glenn A.

Yelp
Excellent quality meal for an extremely affordable price here in Miami. Just finished up the Picada Palo Quemao which feeds 4 people for $33.99 and it was delicious! Paired that with some empanadas as an appetizer and of course a couple rounds of Aguilas. Highly recommend this place for top notch comida Colombiana!
google avatar

Leidy B.

Yelp
Deliciosa comida Colombiana, me encantaron las empanadas, la morcilla y el Sancocho. Súper recomendado!!
google avatar

Rebecca B.

Yelp
Service was initially excellent but at the end our waitress was very busy helping at the bar so we got up and paid at the front. Food was delicious. We had tostones, arepas, bandeja paisa, and a cazuela. Lots of leftovers. No complaints there. Ambience was not upscale but not a cafetaria either. Enjoyable casual dining. Worth a visit if in the area.

Ben B.

Yelp
The sancocho here is amazing!!! The beef was tender & fell apart beautifully, the flavor was amazing, great portion size of meat & veggies & it came with rice & avocado. They also brought us this super delicious green salsa that was spicy & amazing. We had the quatro leches for dessert that was a nice small sized portion for only $5 that tasted very delicious!!! It was perfect for my wife & I to split. I wish I lived closer to this restaurant so I could go there at least a few times a week for the sancocho!!!
google avatar

Yelp
Just landed in Miami and the pitbull in my belly is growling rather loudly. Wanted to try this Cuban spot but it was too far considering I'm walking around with my luggage like a fn peasant cuz my air bnb host doing the most so I chose this (much more convenient) Colombian joint. I had the cazuela de pollo. Any restaurant that's mission is to put as much delicious ish into a bowl and serve it as en entree is already a winner in my eyes. Grilled chicken, avocado, rice, beans, sweet plantains, an EGG. All seasoned beautifully. Unfortunately I couldn't finish it because I'm still recovering from some hybrid of covid and the bird flu that knocked me out this week but I vow to return when I am closer to full strength and devour one a these thangs next time.

Yelp
Finally back and able to find a table, this is a very lovely Colombian restaurant located in Edgewater in the Midtown Miami area. The decor is very charming and they have a lot of seating available outdoors and indoors. We ordered the Picada for two, food arrived hot and promptly. The meats were tender, savory, tasty and the portion served was very generous. We really enjoyed the chorizo, the chicken and the picante sauce. It was a delicious dish. My party and I were impressed by the level of service and attentiveness of Lina and all the staff members who constantly checked on us. Great experience and phenomenal service. Will definitely revisit in the future to try their other dishes and the sancocho!

Andres R.

Yelp
The best Colombian food in town, the service is amazing, our server was very attentive the whole time. Valeria was our server and I fell in love haha thank you!
google avatar

Marv P.

Yelp
Had a late lunch here over the weekend and it was delicious! The service was top of the line, everyone was friendly and attentive. The food was really good we started with the antojitos sampler, which had tequeños, chorizo, chicharrón, empanadas y arepitas, the appetizer flew not sure if it was because we were starving or because it was so flavorful and delicious. We loved the bowls and the passion fruit juice. We were a party of 4 and a baby and we all enjoyed this restaurant, the vibe outside was magical.
google avatar

Nicole L.

Yelp
I'm going to start with the only downfall of this place: they don't speak English here. otherwise, I'd highly recommend palo quemao for anyone looking to EAAAAT. the plates are well portioned and the food SLAAAAAAPS. the indoor is tiny and brightly lit so I recommend getting a seat outdoors so make sure it's not raining /too hot.
google avatar

Rosa O.

Yelp
I love this place! Finally didn't rush to eat the delicious food before taking a picture! This corner spot is a must have! Inside and outside seating is available. The staff are so friendly and accommodating to your needs. I sometimes order a quick pickup of their delicious golden empanadas! Ufff hits the soul! On my lazy or sick days I love to have their sancocho de Res. It brings me back when grandma would cook a good soup. It is a rather large size soup with beef, well cooked vegetables, a perfect amount of white rice and topped with a fresh slice of avocado. It doesn't make you feel like you ate too heavy. You literally eat and nap time! Perfect! I have also tried their cazuela de Res. I prefer to order this dish and eat it at the restaurant. I feel like in the delivery the food doesn't taste the same. The corn cake get soggy. But overall, this a delicious traditional Latin dish. You get your rice and beans, delicious sweet plantains, crispy pork, mix it all together....ufffff! But you can't miss the creole sauce! I can smell the deliciousness from across the street when I walk my dog. It's delicious and highly recommend if you looking for a good Colombian spot!

Emilio U.

Yelp
They do no wrong. Everything is fresh and comes out quick. From the food to the service to the vibes. Everything is immaculate. They even play great music Sancocho is undefeated. Arepa con queso is a must have. Bandeja is the staple. You're welcome.
google avatar

Jean S.

Yelp
Great authentic Colombian food hits the spot all the time would definitely recommend it to anybody that is looking for something good from the motherland
google avatar

Tony N.

Yelp
Ever heard of cazuela? I haven't. My wife hadn't heard of one either and she's Colombian. I am not sure if this is something they invented or is something from a region of Colombian that we were unaware, but.... Boy o' Boy!! I love cazuelas! Soooo savory, sooo good! I've eaten here twice - it should be more, I admit. I've had the Cazuela de carne y Cazuela de cerdo and both were stellar! OMG, I'm thinking about it right now as I type. he empanadas and the morcilla is solid as well! I can't wait to return and try the Bandeja paisa and perhaps another cazuela! The staff is friendly and they have a nice little area outside should you choose to enjoy the weather and sit outside. The atmosphere is casual, laid back. A great addition to the area!
google avatar

Cristal T.

Yelp
Perfect little spot for a quick bite to eat, food is always on point! Price for food and quantity is on your side you won't be disappointed.
google avatar

Ben P.

Yelp
When visiting Miami for work I had one mission - find some excellent Cuban food... and while this cuisine is more Columbian, it still was absolutely excellent. The chorizo, rice, steak, and pork were all delicious. Great service too, just don't be like me and have some sense of how to pronounce the menu items... embarrassing.
google avatar

Jose L.

Yelp
What a great surprise!!! Stumbled upon this place by accident and so very happy we did!! Ordered the sancocho de res and the ajiaco santaferño y que rico!!! Will definitely add this place to the rotation!
google avatar

Eddie E.

Yelp
I love the bandeja paisa. I always come here for that. I would say though the steak is a little dry. But aside from that I can always count on the food to be great. They have a good selection. Can't go wrong with Colombian food though.

Natalia I.

Yelp
AMAZING! Absolutely amazing. I love colombian food and this was some of the best! We had a bandeja paisa, pollo a la plancha and steak (with rice and beans). It was so great! The service way pretty good, and the space was too. With the salsa playing in the background, palo quemao is the best of the best!
google avatar

Rafael B.

Yelp
Located in the beautiful neighborhood of Edgewater is this Colombian Gem. Authentic Colombian food. Beautiful outdoor seating on a beautiful Easter Sunday. The empanadas is to die for - i could have eaten 10 by myself. I was able to try their Sancocho De Reis and this would bring anyone back to life - hearty thick and full of fresh carrots, plantains , yuca, corn and chunks of beef. My pork chops was grilled to perfection - juicy and full of flavor with my side of white rice and plantains. A must visit when in Edgewater.
google avatar

Yelp
Very good food Great service, nice atmosphere and ambiance The bandeja paisa is fantastic
