Palomino Coffee - Review - MLK - Austin - The Infatuation

"The original Palomino Coffee on East 12th felt like it was plucked right out of a popular corner in Marfa and airdropped onto East Austin. Now, they’ve opened a second location, not far from the first. Expect to find a similar menu of coffees and teas at the new spot on Airport Boulevard, plus a few light bites from local bakeries." - Nicolai McCrary

Austin Cheese Store Antonelli’s Wants to Open in South Austin | Eater Austin

"I learned that the MLK neighborhood cafe Palomino Coffee is moving to a new address this summer — 2023 Airport Boulevard — and while the new physical location is still being worked on it’s operating a food truck there serving coffee, baked goods, and tacos (hours 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday–Friday and 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday); the original East 12th Street cafe remains open, the shop falls under the Flat Track Coffee umbrella, and it opened in 2020." - Nadia Chaudhury

Very happy that Palomino have opened a new location which is also very lovely inside. Like the other location, the coffee is good but not excellent and their prices are a bit above average, not surprising given two very well decorated cafes! It was absolutely packed when I went. Think it was their second week opening so thats a good indicator its going to do well. Parking is okay and a bit tight, but not much they can do about that! I did wait a while for my drinks but I can get past that given how many people were there at the time. I will definitely go again just to see what its like when its a little less busy. They also sell plants which is a cool feature, dont remember the other location doing that? I may be wrong! The baristas were also very nice and welcoming to everyone!

My husband and I went a few weeks ago before they were officially fully opened. Even though they were still finishing some of the setup the place looked beautiful. They made my husband a pour over and I tried their forest fig latte. Both were great. The owner was there and spent some time talking to us about pour over techniques and different beans, he even made us a cup of a special coffee he had just gotten in Japan! He made our time here extremely enjoyable and a solid learning experience. The barista who was working with him was also very nice and knowledgeable. I’m excited for this new location and cannot wait to go back.

This was such an awesome find! Officially my favorite coffee shop in Austin! From the moment you step in, so unique, so beautiful, a breath of fresh air. The mix between the plants and the architecture is right on. The bar area so beautiful. But it’s not just pretty, their desire to serve great quality coffee shows! I’ve been to many places where they are completely satisfied with serving you whatever shot comes out even if they know it didn’t come out right. NOT THIS PLACE! I was blown away that they remade my coffee because the extraction time was too long for the pour over! I must say I would have probably been okay with the first one… the coffee was delicious, a washed Ethiopian coffee, one of the best Ethiopian pour overs I’ve had. I also had a cappuccino and it was delightful!

I can't tell you how long I've waited for this location to open. Maybe it's because of the location itself, or the fact that you get more Palomino - I'm not sure. Either way I am happy they're open It's a beautiful cafe, and I think that even though I went on their second day open, I still felt like it was a warm and inviting space. I look forward to studying here!

Exceptionally beautiful space with a lot of greenery. The coffee is first rate, as indicated by the aromas of roasting coffee. You can see them working on it in the back of the shop. Friendly staff, upbeat energy. One request: up level the roll for the egg sandwich.

I had been waiting for this new spot to open ever since I saw the sign out front and it did not disappoint. I think it’s so cool that they roast the beans in house since few places do that. When I tried the Snake Bite seasonal coffee with citrus and ginger syrup, it had a bright and balanced flavor that really stood out. The Green Forest matcha was smooth, earthy, and perfectly made. The interior was filled with plants and natural touches that made the space feel calm and welcoming. This is one of my new favorite spots!
