The 18 Best Pizza Places In Portland - Portland, OR - The Infatuation

"Pan Con Queso is one of the few joints in town putting Mexican spins on pizza. (Reeva is the other.) The results are flawless creations: chewy, multigrain bases loaded with ingredients like cotija, cilantro, chipotle, and corn. Take the chorizo con papas, with thinly sliced potatoes and spicy ground sausage, drizzled with cilantro crema—it’s a more substantial take on a breakfast taco. Since this place is barely bigger than a walk-in closet, we like to settle into a picnic table outside (or take a number sign and sit in Holy Ghost Bar next door) over a Hawaiiana that swaps canadian bacon for Spam." - krista garcia

Pan Con Queso Serves Mexican Sourdough Pizzas in Southeast Portland | Eater Portland

"Inside Living Haus I found Pan Con Queso, where Henry Martinez and Makeila Magno serve inventive, heritage-driven pizzas daily; their three- or four-day fermented crusts, made with a blend of Shepherd’s Grain, Cairnspring Mills, and Central Milling flours, have more structure than a typical Neapolitan, show leopard charring from a high-hydration, hot bake, and carry a touch of rye for a faint nuttiness. Many pies use the couple’s house mozzarella (stretched in their tiny kitchen) or a cotija–Parmesan blend; highlights include the chorizo con papas with a heavily spiced house chorizo fragrant of cinnamon and clove (“almost more like a Spanish chorizo”), a seasonal elote with a white base, corn, mozzarella and chipotle aioli that Magno calls nostalgic, the Mr. Macarthur that pairs Spam with pineapple and onion, and the Californian El Chingon with jalapeño, pineapple, and pepperoni. Seasonal produce from Happy Apple Farm often appears (recently thinly sliced zucchini and kale; earlier versions used asparagus) and pizzas are finished with bright touches like tomatillo salsa. The menu also includes salads with Mexican touches—an arugula salad with rotating fruit and chamoy drizzle and vinaigrette and a house Caesar riff—and an amaretto flan finished with an amarena cherry. Pan Con Queso is open daily at Living Haus, located at 628 SE Belmont Street." - Brooke Jackson-Glidden

My girlfriend and I stopped by on a recent trip to Portland and were blown away. We had the El Chingon and Micho Rizzo pizzas along with the Caesar Chavez salad. We couldn't resist ordering a third pizza to go (pepperoni). =] P.C.Q. and Holy Ghost share the communal space so we grabbed a drink while we ate. Good vibes and great convo.

Fantastic Caesar salad!!! Wonderful outdoor seating on and off street, and access to drinks via the attached Holy Ghost bar. Pizza dough (sourdough) is some of the best I have ever had.

(Likely my #1 fav in PDX) ✨Beyond good pizza, all personal sizes, bouncy dough/crust, and incredibly fresh + creative ingredients (with OG pies in there as well) ✨Approachable indoor/outdoor vibes, fire pit, picnic tables and bar-style seating ✨Holy Ghost (the neighborhood, local Bar) has scratch cocktails + a ton of beers attached to the pizza window, yasssssssss! ✨Pup, kid-friendly patio ✨(Street parking in the neighborhood) ✨BONUS round: 28-Tigers (Thai food on property and around the corner is also 🔥🔥🔥🔥)

So glad we finally made it in for this incredible and unique pizza experience. The crust is fantastic. Sourdough and so well crafted. The toppings are thoughtful and unique, and the outdoor seating near the fire pit made for an excellent meal and conversation. Cannot wait to go back and try the whole menu.

For those seeking a creative twist on traditional pizza, Pan Con Queso delivers both in flavor and atmosphere. Their dedication to quality ingredients and innovative recipes makes it a must-visit spot in Portland’s vibrant food scene. However, guests can enjoy their meals at outdoor picnic tables or take advantage of the adjacent Holy Ghost Bar’s seating area. The friendly and accommodating staff enhance the overall dining experience. The pizzeria’s crust is crafted from a multigrain sourdough, fermented over several days to achieve a chewy texture with a subtle tang. This foundation complements toppings such as cotija, cilantro, chipotle, and corn, resulting in flavorful combinations. Pictured is the pizza El Chingon!

Delicious pizza and quick! Have interesting flavor profiles (without being too wacky) and lots of options for dipping sauces for the crust. We have had the elote, cheese, green veggie one as well as the Cesar salad and all are delicious!

I recently started working in a new office, and with that came the excitement of exploring all the new dining options nearby and, of course, cross-referencing them on Yelp. One place, in particular, caught my eye: Pan Con Queso. I browsed their menu and immediately noticed a pizza named “El Kevin (McCallister).” I thought, "OMG, I have to go there ASAP!" (For reference, my social media handles are inspired by “Home Alone”, which is one of my all-time favorite movies.) As I looked over the rest of the menu, I saw “El Chingon,” a pepperoni and pineapple pizza with a Latin/Mexican flair. In my opinion, pepperoni and pineapple is a far superior and more underrated combination of toppings than the standard Hawaiian that everyone gets. Growing up, I thought I was the only one who loved this combo, but I later discovered that there is a small yet passionate and devoted fan base for it. IFKYK. I was torn between the two, but I knew I couldn’t just add this place to my TDL, I had to go TODAY! I pulled up PCQ on Google Maps and headed there after work, only to find out they had moved locations. That didn’t deter me, though, and I made my way to their current spot on SE Gladstone, which wasn’t too far away. When I arrived, I was disappointed to learn they were out of pizza for the day. The staff was really friendly and told me that although it happens from time to time, it's pretty rare. I was let down, but I was determined not to let that ruin my day, so I made an effort to return the next day. I had a horrible day at work and in my personal life that day, and all I could think about was getting that pepperoni and pineapple pizza to cheer me up. I called ahead and showed up even earlier this time, only to be told again that they had sold out. They were deeply apologetic. At that point, I was facing some pretty devastating things in my personal life, along with a big health scare and not getting this pizza that I was so excited for 2 days straight really felt like those cartoons where the clouds would follow the character and just dump rain while everyone else is perfectly dry. Some time had passed, and I received a call from PCQ. They had somehow gone through the trouble of tracking down my phone number to tell me that my next pizza would be free of charge. That gesture was honestly the first bright spot I'd had all summer, and I was so grateful. I finally returned to PCQ about two months later and mentioned that I had been told my pizza would be comped. The two female staff members (Mikayla? I apologize; I didn’t catch the other persons name) lit up and replied, “Phil?” I was floored. I couldn’t believe they remembered my name. Even before eating my food, I knew this was an experience I would treasure for years to come. (Food review on a subsequent visit)

The pizza tastes as good as it looks, the elote pizza is a must have. The seating at Holy Ghost is perfect indoors or outdoors and they have a fire pit outside for chilly fall nights. I will definitely be back.

Yelp
I have never been so hyped for a spot to get its own brick and mortar in a while! I knew that I would have to check this place out because we absolutely love pizza in all forms and just throw in the wonderful mexican flavors, and we're totally sold. I tried this place with my husband when it was still a pop up in a brewery and loved every single bite. I had the elote pizza which was the special during that time whereas my husband had the chorizo con papas. We both loved our pizzas -- the pizza dough and crust was delicious and the toppings all worked together super well. I can't attest for his non-veg pie, but I can tell you he finished it within a matter of minutes. If that's hot high praise, I'm not sure what is. Service was super friendly and prices are incredibly fair for how good everything is. I have been raving about this spot to friends and trying to get more people to get out and try it because it's just that good! Swing by and show support in the form having some incredible pixxas.

Yelp
We had the El Chingon pizza, it was one of the best pizzas we've ever had! We are only in Portland for a few days and definitely returning before catching our flight back home. We recommend it 110% !!

Yelp
Saw someone post a video about this place online and I immediately was very interested in going, so I knew that as soon as I could, I wanted to go and try it out. The front and the kitchen is very small. It was cold outside, so we sat inside Holy ghost, and we just hung out until our pizzas were done. We got an appetizer of the jardinera, and it was delicious. They have cactus cooler as a drink option, but they were out so we decided to get strawberry Fanta. we ordered three pizzas, so it took a little bit, but it was definitely worth the wait for sure. The crust was delicious, and had a depth of flavor regular pizza crust does not have. I ordered the elote pizza. My friend is a little less adventurous and he ordered the pepperoni pizza, and then my other friend ordered the chorizo y papas pizza. We all swapped a slice of our pizza so we could try all three and I was blown away with all the different flavors that where achieved on our pizzas. My pizza the elote pizza had a wonderful creamy sauce, pieces of corn, bright cilantro and a wonderful array of seasoned flavor that you can only achieve with the blend of elote ingredients. Even the pepperoni pizza was better because of the type of pepperoni that they use. And the sauce flavor was excellent. I don't usually like red sauce pizzas, but this pepperoni pizza still really good That chorizo pizza however, was so many layers and flavors and dimensions of taste. I could not believe my senses, the taste of the chorizo, the creamy of the potatoes, and the cilantro crema on top was so good. It reminded me of breakfast and away. It was spectacular! and nothing we ordered was overly spicy or too mild. If it was supposed to have a kick, it had a kick. We usually like Ranch with our pizzas so we ordered a couple ranches, and the cilantro crema dipping sauce. The sauces are made in house and the ranch was divine. Everything tasted really amazing and I can't wait to go back. Maybe one day the pizzas will come in different sizes, but for now a 12 inch pizza made with hard work and love, will be enough for me. I have no notes on the food because I was absolutely in love with it, but I was really looking forward to cactus cooler soda, and I wasn't expecting such a small store front, but since it is attached to Holy Ghost, there is outdoor seating with a fire pit, and you can sit inside holy ghost, so that was a definite plus, because when we walked up and saw that there wasn't much seating inside of the store we were kind of worried that we would have to sit outside in the cold, but the person who took our order told us we can be inside, but with the fire pit and the outdoor seating I can imagine this place being very popular since it's in a cool area.

Yelp
My 97th Portland pizza spot. And it's a lot more than 'break with cheese.' How all the toppings work together--very tasty chorizo, love the fresh mozz, and the red sauce has a real zing to it. I don't like kale but the little bit here was fine. Amazing how such a thin crust can have such strength. The char factor near the border of almost too much, but not quite. The Living Haus space is cavernous and industrial, but the tree slab tables add a touch of atmosphere. Very friendly service.

Yelp
Killer pizza!! Everything I've had so far is excellent. Inventive flavors and killer service. I'm stoked they're in my neighborhood.

Yelp
The pizzas are awesome the salad was refreshing and I loved the chamoy dressing. The pizzas are personal size and the crust is light and airy. The flavors are on point and I can't wait to go back for some more. I've never had a salad like that before and I loved it. The bartender was super nice and informative. We loved the vibe in this place, chill and clean and lots of beautiful greenery. Highly recommend! FUI It's inside Living Haus Brewery. IG _wendys_world_

Yelp
Stopped in with girlfriend to get a beer and a pizza. It was delicious, friendly staff, and great ambiance on Gladstone. Popular place, obviously the spot to be. Try it! Best pizza I've had in a while.
