Filipino bakery with pandesal sandos, ube tarts & iced coffees
"For: The beef sando There’s always room for an exciting sandwich. This occurred to us at Panadera—an impeccable Filipino bakery in Kentish Town from the Mamasons and Donia people—while eyeing up the corned beef sando on the menu. It’s soft and crunchy thanks to the deep-fried corned beef patty, and has lovely little chunks of potato flecked throughout. Sweetness from the pandesal—a Filipino milk bread—is combined with a tart sauce, a wipe of mayo, and a bit of lettuce for moral support. They’ve got a Marylebone location too. "Matcha Ube Latte Part of the reason anyone drinks a milky iced latte is for that ombre swirl. The one at Panadera—a Filipino, Kentish Town bakery—has reached unicorn-levels of fabulousness, with the purple from the ube combining with the green matcha. But it’s not just pretty. The pared-back sweetness of the ube works well to temper any bitterness without totally disguising the matcha flavour. And the crème mousse on top is foamy and smooth, and elevates this from your everyday latte. " - rianne shlebak, sinead cranna
"After several laps you should always get yourself something bready, and that’s where Panadera, a grab-and-go spot in Kentish Town, comes in. It’s a Filipino bakery with creamy egg breakfast sandos on pandesal and refreshing ube matcha lattes that always hit. " - heidi lauth beasley, jake missing, sinead cranna
"You won’t know that you’ve needed a corned beef hash sando all your life until the moment you take your first bite of Panadera’s corned beef hash sando. The Filipino bakery in Kentish Town has created something wondrous between two slices of grilled Filipino milk bread. It’s soft and crunchy, thanks to the deep-fried corned beef patty, with lovely little chunks of potato flecked throughout. The sweet bread combined with a tart sauce, a wipe of mayo, and a bit of lettuce that’s there in spirit, combines to make a truly warming, generous double doorstop sandwich. Oh, and there’s an egg one, too." - jake missing, rianne shlebak, sinead cranna
"A perfect sandwich is welcome at any time of the day, and when a craving hits, go to Filipino bakery, Panadera. The grab-and-go Kentish Town spot serves breakfast sandos in the morning and three fillings during the day—egg, panko chicken and mushroom, and corned beef hash. You can't go wrong with any of them, and they're all served on pandesal—a slightly sweet, pillowy bread that's been toasted to give it a pleasing bite. Although, the egg just edges it for us, thanks to the ideal ratio of creamy mayo to small, diced onions and herbs. It's worth getting involved in the speciality drinks menu too. The ube matcha latte has a subtle hint of sweetness, and for anyone with a fear of grassy, vegetal matcha, the mango matcha is properly sweet and refreshing. photo credit: Panadera photo credit: Panadera photo credit: Panadera photo credit: Panadera photo credit: Panadera" - Sinéad Cranna
