Let me start off by saying Pancho's had the potential to be great, but I literally had such a disappointing experience.
I am taco obsessed. Not to say I'm an expert, but I've had a lot of tacos in my day. That being said, Pancho's fell so short-- and you know what, maybe they're stressing because of the pandemic and I understand that this whole ordeal has made things difficult for a lot of small businesses, but good gosh do better.
I called not once, but three times to try and place an order around 6pm on Monday. The phone basically rang and rang so I gave up. I saw that they offered pickup through GrubHub, so I placed my order on their platform (which I hate to do, because GrubHub prices are always higher than going straight through the restaurant and I hate not giving all of my money directly to the owners) and that's where my trouble started. If you don't like taking GrubHub orders, then plain and simple, don't offer it.
Through the GrubHub app, they estimated a completion time of 6:30-6:45pm which is fine because it took me 15 minutes to find parking anyways. I show up around 6:45, tell them that I'm picking up an order, and I get the impression that they didn't even start or print my order until I arrived. Which completely negates the purpose of placing an order in advance. If I wanted to wait another half hour, I would've waited to arrive at the restaurant and placed my order there and saved myself some money.
When I finally got my food, they bagged them up at the counter and I did notice that they were using the biodegrádele containers which is awesome. I rushed back to my car to dig in because by this point about 45 minutes to an hour had passed... and the tacos were dry. And the tortillas were grilled, but really hard. I ordered the pollo and al pastor tacos (3 a piece & $12 on Pancho's menu and $15 on GrubHub) and the chicken was really dry to the point where I had to drown them in the provided salsa to make them bearable. The salsa was A+ but super spicy, so be careful. I also got an al pastor burrito (don't judge me I had anticipated having enough for lunch the next day as well) and that was $15 on Pancho's menu and a whopping $18 on GrubHub. EIGHTEEN DOLLARS FOR JUST A BURRITO THAT WAS MOSTLY LETTUCE. NO SIDES. NO RICE OR BEANS. YUP, JUST THE BURRITO. I was so shocked that it didn't come with anything. So expensive for a sub par spread.
I've seen this place prior to ordering the other day and thought to myself "wow that looks like the type of hole-in-the-wall-joint that should be BANGING," but boy was I wrong. The establishment sits in the shadow of White House Subs, and honestly you should just go there. Additionally, inside there was no social distancing taking place, and tables didn't look to be any sort of distance apart. It was a small place, but come on. We're in the middle of a pandemic.
Overall I had such high hopes and was really disappointed. Hopefully my experience was isolated.
