"One of LA’s biggest frustrations while eating Brazilian food in LA has been the absence of liquor licenses. The lack deprives Angelenos of one of the greatest happy hour cultures on Earth with ice-cold beers sipped from small glasses, shots of cachaça, and caipirinhas full of citrus and fresh fruit which are all part of Brazilian drinking culture. Panelas owner Marcia Delima has answered our prayers, offering beer and caipirinhas to drink with generous cuts like carne de panela (beef stew), pratos executivos (meat with sides) with picanha, seafood, and their famous virado à paulista — a lavish meal of beans, rice, pork, fried egg, banana, and collard greens. Ask for a beer, bem gelada (ice cold), and enjoy the thrill of a real boteco in LA." - Bill Esparza, Mona Holmes

"Panela’s Brazil Cuisine, initially opened by Leticia Barth in a tiny space in Redondo Beach in 2013, expanded into a larger space in late 2017. The restaurant caters to Brazilian and local clientele, offering daily specials and dishes reminiscent of Brazil's big cities. Popular offerings include traditional dishes such as virado à paulista, carne de panelas, and feijoada. The restaurant also serves Brazilian comfort fare like salgadinhos, petiscos, and traditional sandwiches. Barth and co-owner Marcia Delima strive to stay true to the flavors of Porto Alegre, their shared hometown, serving authentic Brazilian cuisine beyond just churrasco." - Bill Esparza

Google
Great little sit down place for Brazilian food. I had the steak salad which was great with just enough dressing. Lots of options for deserts too. They serve alcohol but I would say their vine is pretty rough. There is outdoor seating as well perfect for brunch on the weekends.

Google
The picanha churrasquinho plate was very good, the meat was tender and the farofa and grilled veggies were also very good. The fried polenta was also very good. I'd come back here to try the caipirinhas.

Google
Fantastically clean food. The pictures on the menu actually match what you get. Parking is a bit challenging, but you can manage. Worth the treat. Tasty juices.

Google
I like my steak medium rare so this looks great. But this is my girlfriends order, as you can see on the receipt, it suppose to be (well done), but clearly its medium rare. I informed the front of the house manager of this, instead of doing the right thing, he still charged us full price for an awful steak since it was cooked wrong.

Google
I love this Brazilian café! They have amazing food, vibe and service . Great portions and reasonable price. Feijoada is my favourite dish, but there is a lot to chose from.

Edgilson Almeida

Google
The part of the people's services is excellent...... A+..... more I ordered chicken milanese, the chicken was so thin and tasteless, that the price they charge is not adequate like what they were serving ........ The rice, the beans, the salad and the fries, were flavored...... I would return to see if other foods are tastier...... I don't order the Milanese chicken..... that I have seen that all Brazilian restaurants, is served a Chicken breast in a very thin cut.

Google
The food here was so delicious! Everything was well-prepared and seasoned great with good portion sizes. The owner and staff were also super friendly and kind. Definitely recommend the yucca fries, picanha, and the acai and mango juices! Will be back!

Jay Miranda

Google
Great Brazilian spot! Tried their feijoada and picanha—both super tasty! Loved the flavors, definitely recommend it! We love the carrot cake also 🤙🏻

Yelp
Excellent food, service, and ambiance!!! The best Brazilian restaurant around SB with delicious portions and cold beer! I love both restaurants, Redondo and Hermosa

Yelp
If you want excellent Brazilian food, this is the place. It's the best Brazilian food I've had outside of, well, Brazil. I can't believe I've lived walking distance from this place for years and didn't even know it was there. That's how tucked away it is... on a little side street, nestled behind a park, in Redondo Beach. I've been there several times now and it's consistently amazing. The staff is super friendly, the dining room is clean, and there's something on the menu for everyone. The feijoada is my favorite, probably because I find it's hard to get really good feijoada elsewhere, but everything we've tried, including the banana cake dessert, was great. Parking - there is free parking in the adjacent lot. Prices - reasonable for the amount of food they give you (portions are big).

Yelp
Nice hidden gem tucked away in a North Redondo quiet neighborhood near my work, good Brazilian food and a nice vibe inside and very friendly team running things inside. Also some cute tables outside for dining al fresco! Note they do close early (7pm this Saturday evening) so thinking they do more business day/week traffic. The food was good, although the beef was over cooked despite them asking us our preference (medium rare and medium for the two of us) - all seemed to just be cooked to well done so something they need to keep an eye on. Also were out of cheesy bread so also disappointing and a miss. Overall a decent option and one of very few in the area if you are in the mood for Brazilian and don't want to go to one of those expensive AYCE places!

Yelp
Saw this place on an LA Times food list as an authentic Brazilian spot so was super excited to try it! Panelas is tucked away in a neighborhood in the South Bay, with a really cool vibe, and super friendly staff! Tried the cheese balls, coxinha, and the BBQ plate with Picanha, chicken and sausage. Food was good, Picanha was cooked a perfect medium rare, chicken was tender and the coxinha was sooo good! I recommend this place to anyone who wants to try great quality Brazilian eats.

Ginger N.

Yelp
Went here with Brazilian friends who miss home and wanted to introduce us to their county's comfort food. Everything was delicious and our friends said it was as good as home.

Raquel T.

Yelp
I used to love this place; it was my go-to Brazilian restaurant for homemade food. However, since the change in ownership, the food has lost its flavor and quality. It isn't as good as it used to be. It's also become quite pricey for what you get.

Bárbara L.

Yelp
The best Brazilian restaurant in the area! Different from other Brazilian restaurants, the food they serve tastes like homemade Brazilian food. It's delicious! Definitely my favorite place to take someone who had never had Brazilian food before.

Julie D.

Yelp
Off the beaten path but run don't walk. Food always delish, friendly service, and peaceful atmosphere.

Jordan D.

Yelp
We loved coming here, food was always delicious and flavorful. Tonight we were very disappointed with their kids meal item for our daughter. Most places, serve chicken for children a 4-6 oz portion. When I tell you our daughter's chicken was meant for a 6 month old baby, we were appalled. $12 for mostly rice, beans and veggies.

Joe M.

Yelp
This is an excellent, authentic Brazillian restaurant! Great food and great service in a fun location right by the beach. Highly recommended!

Elle M.

Yelp
Great food and music on sundays. The vibe was chill and the servers are great! I would highly recommend if you want great food and service.

Sarah H.

Yelp
This is the best kept secret in Redondo Beach. It's tucked away on the edge of a residential neighborhood but worth seeking out. The food is always fresh and consistent in quality. I love the flavors and textures of the plaintains and the rice and beans and the fluffy little breads. When I was eating meat the steaks are something I still dream about. Now I stick with the salads (and will add salmon sometimes) and they are just as hearty and filled with amazing flavor and texture. I highly recommend this spot!

Yelp
A lovely little cafe in a strip mall in a place you'd never expect to find a strip mall. I don't know much about Brazillian food but I'm glad I got to learn about it here. The staff are extremely helpful. They have an ipad with photos and will offer to explain things to you. And they only explain if you ask which is also very appreciated. The only thing I do know if I love that Pao de Queijo, the impossibly addictive, chewy cheese bread. These are on the bigger side, but the texture is great. Feijoada is a bucket list dish for me, and this one is my first. A heart stew of black beans, so savory and salty, full of chunks of beef, bone-in ribs, chunks of pork, and slices of sausage. It's a dense dish, and even a few bites can be filling. The Brazilian Plate has picanha or a protein of your choice, and it's a pretty good cut of meat. A bit of chewing required but a nice mix with a little fat. Break the egg yolk across the top and eat with all the sides. Nice neighborhood, really nice experience for a casual lunch if you can afford the food coma that is sure to come.

Misael H.

Yelp
Definitely coming back. Great service and Amazing food quality. You definitely have to give this place a try and I'll guarantee you that it won't disappoint

Yelp
Worth the drive out to Redondo Beach, Panelas is the kind of homey comfort food that sticks in your stomach and in your memory. We loved everything we ordered: from the chewy cheese rolls to the perfectly grilled chicken (and the grilled veggies) to the beef and pork goodness of the feijoada, that came with a tasty side of collard greens. We got there during the lunch hour but there were still plenty of seats. There was a bit of a wait to take our order. But otherwise we had a wonderful meal.

Nico C.

Yelp
What a find! Had the Picanha steak plate and it was delicious and cooked properly. Also tried the steak sandwich which was also fantastic! I would probably skip the empanadas, but that's a personal preference. Great and clean ambiance in a nice quiet neighborhood. Highly recommend and would definitely come back!

Yelp
Quality customer service seriously lacking, and the approach to telling clientele "No" when a simple request to sample a drink is made, leaves a lot to be desired, and zero desire to return.

Bruno C.

Yelp
Awesome Brazilian food, pretty good variety and great service! Go there if you want to try some actual day-to-day Brazilian food. Pro tip: the Feijoada is 100%.

Alex A.

Yelp
The food was delicious. The flavors remind me of home. Will definitely be coming back!

Jay S.

Yelp
Great taste of Brazil!!! The plates are delicious and filled with love. I've been three times and will definitely go back! Muito bom!!!

Jordan N.

Yelp
Comida casera brasileira. Tried the following: + Pinapple mint juice (fresh!) + Coxinhas (one of the best I've ever had!) + Brazilian plate (picanha) - Perfectly cooked medium-rare picanha with good salad! Comes with fries and black beans too. Black beans could use a little more salt or flavoring. + Feijoada - perfectly made but a bit on the salty side compared with the black beans of the Brazilian plate. I see this place as a great spot to come back to often for Brazilian street food. On the wish list though: - shrimp risoles - moquecas I'll also add that their cakes and desserts look great - especially their banana bread which looked special. I wouldn't hesitate to come back here - a lovely and homey addition to L.A.'s authentic South American dining scene.

Yelp
First time visit and certainly not the last! We ordered the Pao de Queijo cheese bread basket and Brazilian plates, one with tilapia and one with picanha. The pao de quejio was absolutely delicious! Each piece was loaded with cheese and you could easily fill up on these before you even get to your main dish. I would come back just for an order of these! The Brazilian plate is generously portioned with rice, black beans on the side, fries, salad, and fried egg with your choice of protein. I chose the tilapia and was surprised by how much I liked the fried egg on top. The tilapia itself was well cooked and seasoned. It was a first for trying picanha and it was a flavorful cut of steak and cooked to preference at medium rare. Not pictured but should not be missed -- dessert! We tried the milk flan and the banana cake. The milk flan is the perfect consistency and the syrup adds just enough sweetness. The banana cake was recommended by the staff and freshly baked that day. The banana flavor was subtle and not overpowering and the sweet caramelized glaze added just the right touch. Delicious paired with a cup of coffee or a large glass of milk! Everyone was friendly and helpful making us feel welcome. The setup is casual but homey and it's such a good feeling to enjoy a nice meal in a warm, casual environment.

Yelp
We were taking a walk on the strand today and we just saw Panelas , super friendly so we decided to have dinner there. I'm so glad we did. Wow food was an amazing for the price. You get your monies worth! service was on point always making sure we were doing well and sitting outside under the canopy was perfection!! Couldn't ask for a better ambiance!

Shirley S.

Yelp
We were in the area and were trying to find a homestyle lunch place. We wanted to try something similar to our native country (Colombia) and stumbled upon Panelas. The restaurant itself was very clean, had plenty of seating options both inside and outside, and had a fair amount of parking. You order first, and then the food is brought to you. They had music, but it wasn't loud or obnoxious, just the right volume. We ordered two Brazilian plates, one with salmon and one with steak. We also got a guava juice, passion fruit juice, empanadas, and pan de queijo. The service was very nice and welcoming. The food was delicious and very fulfilling! We grabbed some empanadas to go for our family since they were delicious. We now know that whenever we are in the area, we can count on Panelas for a good meal!

Licica B.

Yelp
I didn't have luck on my 1st try and been wanting to try it for a while. My coxinha (Brazilian appetizer) was being freshly fried thus the reason for the long wait but I got a dough that wasn't done and the center chicken filling was still frozen. I got it to go so couldn't change it. It would have been tasty since seasoning was good but they need to take better care to ensure that the temperature is heated throughout and dough is not raw. They also didn't include napkins or plastic utensils on my to go order Don't ask for tips and you are not doing the basics cause that's annoying.

Mai W.

Yelp
Friendly service. Cute atmosphere. Most importantly the food is sooooo GOOD! I don't live close by, but this is worth the drive

Roy L.

Yelp
Panelas is a really unique, quant little mom-and-pop owned restaurant, in the middle of residential North Redondo Beach. You can really tell they care about making a good meal and having it be authentic Brazilian. I think what's fantastic about them is their customer service. Side note, we came here for dinner and brought my nephew who's barely 2 years old. And we sat outside and naturally, he made a huge mess eating the rice and basically half his meal ended up on the ground. The waitstaff didn't make a big deal of it and cleaned it up after we left and we felt so bad. But they were super nice about it and we appreciate it a lot and will be supporting them going forward. Onto reviewing the food -- ironically, the appetizers were my favorite part of the meal. The Cheese Bread (Pão de Queijo) is incredibly chewy and perfectly dense to feel like it hit the spot. And best of all, the Fried Yucca feels like a better version of the French fry -- perfectly crisp with a fluffy inside. We also had their Steak Brazilian Plate, the Stroganoff, and the Feijoada. All the dishes were delicious. We were so hungry that we started eating right away and forgot to take some pics. Overall, fantastic restaurant. Shout out to the really kind waitstaff!

Aisha Y.

Yelp
I paid $20 and it was not worth it. Super disappointed the staff are not accommodating. I did not like the collard greens they served them with no flavor and it wasn't served warm - even though I asked them to reheat the dish. The service wasn't that great either, I told the staff at the front desk that I did (not) like the greens. But she just looked at me crazy and said we never had any complaints about it. Well, I guess in the future I'll just stick with Bossa Nova for flavorful food and good service!

Toshi I.

Yelp
First time here and it's located in the middle of a residential area. Ordered the Steak sandwich for the boy and tried a little of the skewer dinner. I really had my sights on the unique Carrot Cake and the Coconut Flan. The carrot cake was fresh from the oven, unique in that it had chocolate sprinkles. Guess which part the took a fork full of? I tried the Coconut Flan later and wow, because I love coconut flavor and the texture of flan, loved it. Definitely enough to share and recommend both desserts. Will be back to try other main dishes and desserts. The service was friendly and helpful. Free parking in the lot.

Philip B.

Yelp
Great feijoada and caipirinhas! Authentic. Real brazilians. With music from brazil too (over the radio)

Carrie S.

Yelp
We are in the mood for Coxinha and beef empanada. We always know that South Bay has great food from all over the world, it's still amazing to me how good this place is. I went in for a takeout right after it opens. The place is empty. Very clean and the staff is super friendly. She even taught me how to say coxinha with cheese. It was quick to get the food. By the time I got home it's still warm. They are very delicious and fill the spots perfectly. We would def come back to try dinner. Everything looks so good and I love the all woman staff.

Donna B.

Yelp
Delicious...I ordered the Picanha plate and it was amazing! Love the egg on top of the steak and would have ate the whole thing but it was HUGE. Also got some things to take home. I was unfamiliar with Brazilian food but the lady that was working the counter was so helpful and explained everything to me. You could feel the pride that came from that kitchen. I got some cheese bread, croquettes and Empenadas. The black beans were the best I ever had. I also got the flan which was amazing. The also had homemade cakes but at some point I had to stop and save something for next time. I highly recommend the passion fruit juice. I got mine with no sugar and it was amazing. The place is adorable, the people are kind and the food is good! 5 STARS all around.

Winnie L.

Yelp
I love this place! Tucked away casual chill place that you can walk to since it's at the end of the power line trail if you live in the area. Great fresh Brazilian food. Order at the counter and pick your own table. Not overly friendly but happy to answer any questions you have about the menu, which is just my vibe. I've been here a few times and it has always been great food. Try their fresh juices too!

Ana V.

Yelp
First time eating here. Drove 20 minutes to this restaurant and oh boy it was worth it. First time eating Brazilian dish. I love every bite of my food. I'm definitely coming back here. Love love love my food. Thank you to the chefs you all did a wonderful job back there. I'll give you all the stars

Rebecca T.

Yelp
5 stars for great service! I had bookmarked Panelas for quite some time, and I had the opportunity to try it out this weekend. I ordered a veggie plate, pão de queijo, coxinha, empadinha, and caipirinha. Delivery was quick, and I got my order within the hour. The price might look steep at first, but once you see just how massive the portions are, you'll find the cost very reasonable. Sadly, empadinhas weren't available, so I got two coxinhas instead; I believe the owner called me to inform me of it, and I was very happy with the consideration and service. Food-wise, it was delicious. Everything tasted fresh and it was still hot despite the time it took to deliver the food. The pão de queijo was nice and chewy: granted, it was just a tad cold by the time it arrived at my doorstep, but a quick pop in the toaster makes it good again. The coxinhas were an absolute monster: huge, savory, and dense. The breading was just perfect, with a subtle crunch on the outside that gave way to a tender inside. I would say that the chicken was just a tad dry, but it was also flavorful and packed with other veggies and spices for a tasty experience. Veggie plate was simple, and I especially enjoyed the soft and tender yucca that came with it. The caipirinha is refreshing (even in January)...and STRONG! Overall, Panelas is worth a go! Thank you for making my first-time experience a good one!

Jennifer H.

Yelp
The food is very good. We had the Panela plate with picanha steak. The steak was cooked perfectly, flavorful, and very tender. The steak could be cut with a butter knife. The staff is friendly and was helpful with explaining the menu options. It was newly renovated and looks great. We sat outside to enjoy the view. You can't beat the location, steps away from the beach. They even accommodated our pup and brought her some water on a warm summer day.

Jay C.

Yelp
Saw this place in a LA Times article and it's nearby so planned to check it out. Turns out a lunch group my wife belongs to was going there, so I tagged along. I'm not real familiar with Brazilian food so I can't speak to the authenticity, but it is really good. Selection of sandwiches, salad and plates with choice of proteins (and some vegetarian options). Nice sized portions. Friendly staff.

Lia G.

Yelp
Delicious food, authentic Brazilian cuisine. Martha was wonderful and helped with our family event.

Minerva D.

Yelp
Delicious food! Service is always outstanding. Family ambiance. Everyone is always welcoming! Thank you!

Benyamin H.

Yelp
My Brazilian friends recommended Pamela's Brazil Cuisine, so I gave it a try. I started with Beef Empanada (Risolis) and Pao De Quejio, which were both delicious. The empanadas were crispy and packed with flavor, while the cheese bread was soft and cheesy. I also had BBQ plate with Picanha, chicken, and sausage. The Picanha was tender and juicy with a smoky char, the chicken was flavorful, and the sausage. Honestly, if you're into AUTHENTIC Brazilian food or just want to try something new and delicious, Pamela's Brazil Cuisine is the place to be. I'm already planning to go back to try their tilapia and salmon dishes. The only downside is that the place isn't huge and gets packed, but hey, that just means it's popular and you know the food is good!

Caroline R.

Yelp
What a great find! We've tried dining in and ordering to go and both times the food was delicious! For the appetizers we tried, Pao de queijo, best I've tried so far! Beef Risolis and Chicken Empadinhas, good Plantains, perfect and good portion For plates, we got the BBQ Plate, perfect if you want to try a little bit of everything. It was all delicious! For dessert, i would highly recommend the Manjar, a coconut flan with plum sauce, interesting and yummy! The passionfruit mouse was a bit too tart for me. Don't forget to get a caipirinha! So refreshing and definitely has a kick! The staff was friendly and informative and the ingredients are imported from Brazil. All in all a great dining experience. Looking forward to our next visit!

Rachael H.

Yelp
I live in the neighborhood and to my delight, I just recently discovered Panelas ! I knew by the first bite of Feijoada (perfection) that I was going to love all of the food!! The place was super clean and staff was so friendly. We will return for certain.

Robert U.

Yelp
Appears closed with tables stacked up and doors open locked but no sign with hours. Does anyone know the real location status of this place?

Briz C.

Yelp
Very clean place and friendly staff. That is the place to go if you are looking for an authentic Brazilian food.

Daniel R.

Yelp
Really good food and a nice space...Friendly family-run business...glad I (finally) stopped in and will definitely return...

Juliana R.

Yelp
So yummy I have been asking my Brazilian friends where do they like to eat Brazilian food and they all said Panelas so we finally tried it. Very yummy and authentic, the service was great, super friendly and accommodating. We had steak, beans, plantains, and we ended with the chocolate cake that was to die for. Try it out!

Kirk N.

Yelp
Love everything about this place. The pot roast is flavorful and amazing. Dairy and soy-free. Can't go wrong with the Brazilian plate. Huge portions.

Alex C.

Yelp
It was dinner night with the family at Pamelas Brazil Cuisine. The restaurant is situated in an unassuming residential neighborhood. There are about 10 tables from which to choose inside and some limited outdoor seating. It's very clean and the service is so friendly and helpful. Tonight we ordered the chicken Milanessa Plate with salad, fries and rice, and the bbq plate which included steak, chicken, sausage, rice, fries and black beans. The food is expertly prepared and so tasty. My steak was cooked perfectly medium-rare and the chicken Milanessa was delicious. The have a wide range of Brazilian cuisine to chose from on the menu. The food was prepared quite quickly and reasonably priced. Compared to other local Brazilian restaurants with limited parking and tables, overpriced food and slower service, Panelas is definitely a great alternative. They provided us with a catering menu in case we had some group events in the future. It seems like many of the locals get food to go as well.
