Yelp
I've ordered delivery from Panera many times over the last 5 years. This Canal St. location is the worst at getting an order correct, no matter what time of day I place an order--and I always order through Panera's website or app, not a 3rd party. Sometimes my orders are missing a bakery item. Sometimes my meal customizations are messed up. And sometimes, like tonight, an entire sandwich or salad is missing. I've received orders with a combo of those issues. I'd say my Canal St. orders are accurate 20% of the time, and that's a generous estimate.
Tonight's order was for just 2 items: a full bowl of broccoli cheddar mac and a whole chipotle chicken avocado melt sandwich, both with chips. That's all. It was delivered missing the sandwich. I got both bags of chips, which would be funny if I wasn't so irritated. I'm surprised the mac & cheese was the correct size. This order made me decide to stop ordering from this location. I should've stopped long ago.
Trying to resolve the issue made me decide to quit Panera altogether. Panera's site and app make it VERY hard to report something as simple as an item missing from an order. A few times, the site's order status page has given me the option to report this. But many times it hasn't, and I don't think the app ever has. Tonight was the latter scenario: I used the app and the only options I had to report an issue were arrival time (too late or early), order never arrived (mine did, just very incomplete), or "none of the above" which dumped me to Panera's generic customer support form. "Just call the Panara location," you say? Nah, the Canal St. location frequently won't answer their phone. If someone does answer, they're usually very curt (no matter how polite you are) and either argue with you or claim they'll credit your account with a refund--which they may or may not ever actually do. Panera needs to make it consistently easy for customers to report missing items online, so we can quickly get the matter taken care of.
I used to order from the State St. location a lot. Usually I'd go pick up in person, but sometimes I had it delivered. That location had issues too, but the Canal St. location makes them look like 4-star service. Too bad the State St. Panera is gone, though at this point I probably won't order from any Panera again. Food's okay, nothing special aside from their breads and bagels, and certainly not worth all this aggravation.
