Seattle Restaurant Openings to Know for October 2025 | Eater Seattle

"Taking over the former Ong Lam Bistro space, this Vietnamese restaurant offers a similar menu of typical dishes, with a pretty long vegan menu." - Harry Cheadle

Papa Kitchen - Review - Ravenna/Roosevelt - Seattle - The Infatuation

"A spacious new Vietnamese restaurant opened in Roosevelt. From the looks of their expansive menu (which has a whole page for vegan and vegetarian dishes), it might be good for big groups with different tastes. Expect phở, vermicelli bows, claypots, and more. We haven’t been here yet, but want you to know this spot exists." - Kayla Sager-Riley

Came in last night with 3 friends and had a great experience! Wasn’t to hush and got seated right away. We first ordered some drinks and we had the lychee blossom, sweet mama sour, and big papa, favorite of the 3 was the sweet mama sour but big papa a close second!! The menu is huge with a full vegan menu so they have something for everyone. First we ordered the shrimp salad roll which was really fresh! Peanut sauce was great and asked for fish sauce on the side and paired well with that! Crab Rangoon was good size and filling was very good! Skewer sampler was also delicious, marinated very well and good variety for the 4 of us, the beef tenderloin skewer was my favorite. Salt and pepper shrimp with shell on was probably my favorite dish, it was seasoned well and quality shrimp, next time I might get some rice to finish off all of the garnishes. We also got the tomato noodle soup- Bun Rieu, very flavorful and authentic! Service was great but they just opened and they were still testing out some things so that’s understandable. Overall great meal and would highly recommend, will come back to try other things!

This place is a true hidden gem for anyone craving authentic Vietnamese soul food. They have a huge menu with both vegan and non-vegan dishes, hundreds of selections. I had the bún mắm and it's super delicious, comes generously loaded with toppings: shrimp, whole squid, fish, stuffed jalapenos, pork,... all perfectly cooked... Fresh herbs, bean sprouts, and slices of eggplant add brightness and crunch, cutting through the richness just right. The service is great, very friendly and attentive. They also have a parking garage with 2 hours free. I'd love to take mh family and friends here to try more things on the menu.

Google
One of the best places in Seattle for authentic Vietnamese foods. There are a lot of Viet dishes that nowhere else has. We tried a few of their signature dishes and loved them all. Too bad we are not familiar with the neighborhood, so trying to find a parking spot was painful, otherwise we would have visited again already to try other dishes.

I had a wonderful experience at Papa Kitchen. The food was absolutely delicious — fresh ingredients, authentic flavors, and generous portions. The dish was beautifully presented, especially Chicken Platter! The service was super friendly and really made us feel taken care of. The owner and staff were awesome—so helpful and kind. The atmosphere was cozy, clean, and really bring out that Vietnamese vibe. Highly recommend if you’re looking for high-quality Vietnamese food and great hospitality!

Some of the best Vietnamese food I've had in Seattle! The shaking beef (bo luc lac) and caramelized spare ribs were amazing. The banh xeo was cooked perfectly, extremely crispy and packed with ingredients. Nuoc mam (fish sauce) was also delicious. Drinks were also pretty good and not too strong! They have a huge menu so will definitely come back to try other things on the menu like some of their hot soups. They also have vegan/vegetarian options. My group ate family style and it was the perfect amount of food

Google
Happy to be the first to review this place! My fiance and I went during the second day of their soft opening week. They had a surprisingly large menu, both vegetarian and normal food too. We tried the green mango salad, tomahawk pho, and spicy hue noodle soup (veggie). The fish sauce on the mango salad was on point, not too overwhelming. The pho noodle was thicker like northern Vietnam style with the perfect amount of fatty soup. The spicy hue noodle soup was also delicious, even as a vegetarian dish! We also ordered two cocktails, the Jade Lady and Sweet MaMa Sour. Very refreshing! Definitely recommend bringing your friends or family here.

Google
Fully & purely vegetarian and vegan Vietnamese restaurant: delicious and incredibly fresh; extensive menu; very polite & attentive servers. You don’t have to be a vegetarian to enjoy this incredibly tasty fare as the dishes are bursting with flavor! OPEN TIL 10pm!! Not only is this a place I want to eat; In this neighborhood past 830, it’s like the only place to eat besides Aladdin’s on the Ave lol. It’s new, just opened in July, check it out. Located adjacent to the Roosevelt subway station. You know they understand what a vegetarian versus vegan is when you order a bahn mi tofu sandwich and the server immediately asks “if mayonnaise is OK because it contains eggs?” Menu was extensive, everything on it was either vegetarian or vegan, the sandwiches were incredibly delicious with absolutely fantastic fresh bread, the vegan pho had delicious broth. Lots of choices of noodle dishes, rice dishes, vegetable dishes, tofu dishes, plus lots of different type types of fake meat, like fake chicken, fake steak, fake shrimp. Unbelievably tasty bahn mi (my favorite in the city), including a mushroom based one!! Eating out is pricey, but this place is so totally worth it. My Photo of The bahn mi vegan sandwich is only half of the sandwich: the first half I ate so quickly I couldn’t even get a picture of the full meal lol

Google
This place is FIRE.... I went for the 1st time tonight and the reviews said it all. Great food great staff and the atmosphere was spot on. I had the shrimp pho. But next time I'm going to try something I have never had before. The vegan menu is huge. Lots and lots of vegan options. So I think I will go back next week. One of the things I like about this place besides the food is the hours of operation. 10 pm on weeknights and 11pm on weekends. And they are open 7 days a week. Keep up the good food and the good work. And welcome to the neighborhood.

Yelp
Delicious food, spacious and nice restaurant, and friendly service! My husband, baby, and I came on a weekday for lunch. Lots of seating and the interior decor was so nice! They also have high chairs for the little ones! We loved our food! We got the bun bo hue (best we've had in Seattle so far!) I exchanged the rice noodle for egg noodle. We also got the waterfall fried chicken plate lunch special so it came with a drink - Thai iced tea. So good! Everything was flavorful and portions were decent! Will definitely come back to try their other items!

Yelp
Stop by for lunch today, got lucky to score a parking spot right in front of the store, that was a good sign. We ordered the Bun bo hue, Banh xeo, and the signature combo. There was only 1 person serving 3 tables so it took a while to get the order in and for the food to arrive, but overall not terribly off. She tried her best to be attentive, which we appreciated that. The Bun bo hue was really good, very flavorful broth with tons of ingredients in the bowl. The Banh Xeo was also nice, decent amount of seafood inside the crispy "egg skin". The pork chops in the signature combo were super yummy, the egg was done perfectly and the egg yolk over the rice was very tasty. The bill with tip is a bit over $75, a bit on the pricey side but i would go back to try other items on the menu for sure.

Yelp
Went back to papa's after another workout and once again, it did not disappoint. Their bun bo hue was one of the best I've ever had in seattle. Like it was so good, i ended up ordering take out (their combo plate) mid-meal lol. I was a lil disappointed bc their BBH didn't include that blood that I like but whatever. Helllaaaa good broth and a ton of substance otherwise. Anotha certified bangah.

Yelp
Papa Kitchen took over Ong Lam Bistro with the same familiar layout, but a much broader Viet-inspired menu (plus vegan options). Staff were hospitable and welcoming. The Super Bowl Pho was generous with noodles and broth, tender slices of meat & rib, fresh herbs & lime on the side, though no hoisin sauce available at the table. The Mắm Tôm Temptation stood out for its fried sausage, fish cake, eggroll, blood sausage, and tofu with shrimp paste sauce. Bold and fun at first, but the pungent & salty flavor became a bit much by the end. Would recommend pairing with other sauces, preferably sweet & spicy, if available. Two dishes with tax/tip hit $72, which feels pricey. Happy Hour may be the better move. Overall, their creative dishes make this an interesting place.

Yelp
Ok the kitchen has got it down, everything we've tried is so good! Attentive service. Cute restaurant decor and it's spacious. The cocktails are Viet-inspired and good. Would recommend the chicken platter, fried chicken wings, and stir fried green beans. But for authentic Viet food for anyone who's more adventurous, try the bamboo chicken noodle soup or Bun Mam.

Yelp
The restaurant is adorned with plants. The gigantic monstera at the entrance was fascinating. The service felt very attentive and they have a huge vegan selection. So much so that it took us a while to make a choice. We ended up with the vegan chicken skewers, lemongrass tofu and a vegan pork bahn mi. All three were delicious! I think that the bahn mi used a cashew cream in place of the mayo and I thought that was impressive and a good touch to the sandwich. It felt less greasy because of the cashew cream.

Yelp
Highly recommend this new spot. Menu choices are immense including a separate vegan menu. Clean and cute decor. Now on to the drinks: Asian inspired cocktails were not too strong and hit the spot: Vitamin Sea and Lychee Blossom. We tried the banh xeo and it was amazing. Stuffed to the max and crispy. Waterfall fried chicken plate was very savory and portions were huge. I would visit again to try the other dishes

Yelp
Food was amazing. I loved the crispy banh xeo with the decadent seafood. The service was nice and they just opened recently so the decor was nice and clean. I would come just for the banh xeo alone! The bun bo hue was good too and is very filling! All in all a solid choice!

Yelp
The food is very tasty. Staff are friendly. You should definitely give it a try. But they need more employees during busy hour to lessen the wait.

Yelp
I love this place so much you have no clue. Best bhan mi I have ever had. Their bread is fresh and the meat is sooo juicy ab idk what type of sauce they put on there but uuuuuuuuuughhhhhh it's so good. Also they get you food fast if there aren't many people. One of the times I went there, they sat us and then forgot about us completely but there were so many people and one lady working there so I forgive them. Better to come at lunch for better service

Yelp
Ordered the Grilled Pork Bún and fried rice for takeout. Yummy skewers and good flavors on the noodles. The portions are especially generous for the fried rice. Overall, it was really tasty! The takeout time was also really quick. The inside atmosphere looks fun - I'll have to come back another time for dining in.

Yelp
We enjoyed the food we ordered: short ribs and waterfall fried chicken. Servixe was efficient and food was tasty. Happy to see this place open up.

Yelp
Our family were there on Sunday night. We ordered the signature dishes that they recommended. I really like the presentation of the dishes that they organized. And the food themselves taste good, especially the chicken dishes. Services were very awesome. The server came checking with multiple times. I'll take my family back again next time.

Yelp
I stopped here for a to-go vermicelli bowl after yoga nearby. They forgot my order so I waited 30 minutes in a moderately empty restaurant at 8:30 but had to watch diners show up 15 minutes later get their appetizers and entrees and eat. When I got home I found they had crammed in two tiny skewers of meat in a small to go box with the rest of the "special" $22 bowl. Unfortunately this was a waste of time and money. Too bad, not bad presentation or flavor. I will probably just go to Ave for value or the village if I want to pay more for a fancier drink.

Yelp
I came here with my family and we all got orders of the worst pho we've ever had. The broth was lukewarm, the noodles were way too overcooked, and it cost a lot more than your standard bowl of pho. I want to point out that they feel like very easy fixes that would've at least made our experience decent. On the plus side service was good, but there's much better places in my opinion.

Yelp
Friendly, attentive service. Lovely space, beautiful decor. Huge menu with lots of choices. Yummy strawberry lemonade. Chicken skewers were very tasty, unique peanut sauce; you could tell it wasn't from a jar. Solid bbq pork bahn mis. Only complaint is that the sandwiches had hardly any jalapeño. You could always ask for more on the side.

Yelp
My partner and I decided to try this restaurant because of the great reviews and vegetarian options. After ordering and waiting for over an hour, I never received my food. It turns out my order was never submitted. I watched as my partner received their food and all of the tables around us were served. At no point did our server check in at our table. We found out my order was never submitted when we received the receipt. On top of that, the small amount of food that I tried from the appetizer my partner and I shared ended up making us both sick later in the evening. I was incredibly disappointed as I was so excited to try their vegetarian menu. We went out of our way to visit and find parking. I don't normally leave reviews however the overall experience was pretty terrible.

Yelp
Really really delicious vegan food! I loved every dish. The clay tofu and eggplant pot was the standout. Big portions and friendly service.

Yelp
I had a delicious drink- Vitamin Sea. It was yummy! Then I got bahn mi and egg rolls to take home. They were both delicious. And this place is right by the light rail! Very friendly staff also! Check it out!
