The 12 Best Malaysian Restaurants In NYC

"If Malay is grandma’s house, PappaRich feels more like a party, and it's where the next generation goes for the modern Malaysian experience. This bright, expansive restaurant is on the second floor of a mall, with terrace seating overlooking busy downtown Flushing. Big groups pile into booths that are fitted with buzzers for when you need a refill on your lychee soda. (Despite the rowdy energy, they don’t serve alcohol here.) While the food doesn't have the home-cooked quality of some other spots, they do a good job with the classics. Get some flaky roti canai, mixed satay, and seafood curry laksa for the group." - neha talreja, carina finn koeppicus, bryan kim

Papparich - Review - Flushing - New York - The Infatuation

"Of all the Malaysian options in Flushing, PappaRich is where we'd go for a rowdy food rager. The expansive restaurant is on the second floor of a mall, with outdoor seating on a terrace overlooking busy downtown Flushing. It's a bright space, full of tables and booths for big groups, all outfitted with buzzers for when you need a refill on your lychee soda. The food here doesn’t have the homecooked quality of some other spots, but their versions of the classics—flaky roti canai, mixed satay, and seafood curry laksa—are guaranteed hits if you’re with a bunch of people who are overwhelmed by the options. They don’t serve alcohol, so if you’re wondering what has everyone around you riled up, it’s that salted egg yolk shrimp. Get some." - Neha Talreja

This was our first time at PappaRich and we really enjoyed the food there. The wait staff were very friendly and food came out very promptly. We had ordered the Hainanese Chicken, the crispy tofu and flat rice noodle in gravy. The chicken was good but we really enjoyed the crispy tofu and the little one really liked the rice noodle in gravy. There were several other dishes that looked good so will need to come back and try those!

The Malaysian food was great. Started with the milk tea and it was creamy, right amount of tea flavor, and not too sweet. Then the Buttered Kaya Toast arrived and paired perfectly. We also ordered the roti Canai and it was flaky and fluffy. The Nasi Lemark was a little underwhelming, mainly ordered for its appearance. The hainanese chicken was on point though. My mom from HK said it wasn't tender enough though lol. Definitely would come back.

We came to this restaurant with my nephew and his wife. My nephew's wife discovered this place. She's craving some good Malaysian food. The restaurant is serving excellent authentic Malaysian food. I've tried many Malaysian restaurants. This one came at the top. It will be hard to return to the other places now that I have found this one. This restaurant has the closest Malay flavors in its dishes: the best nasi lemak and the best Penang char keow teow. We ordered an oyster omelette but didn't care because it had more eggs than oysters, so the taste became a regular one. We had roti canai, two types of nasi lemak, and two types of char keow teow. I had nasi lemak with shrimp; my nephew's wife had a regular nasi lemak. Nasi lemak is a traditional Malaysian dish. Most people eat this in the morning, but Malaysia's portion is much smaller. Here, however, it is an entree. Best nasi lemak! The chili sauce was authentic. The savory tastes of most dishes, from chicken curry to shrimp chili, were hard to find. Roti canai, another dish that most Malaysians eat for breakfast, is the best appetizer! Roti means bread. It's not easy to prepare this bread. We liked Penang char keow teow better than the seafood one. Hubby tried the Penang char keow teow from my nephew's order and made a mistake by ordering the seafood char keow teow for himself. That’s fine, it was still delicious but the Penang one was the best! Janet was our waitress from Malaysia. She's lovely and knowledgeable about the food. The restaurant is nice, huge, covering half of the block. It's on the second floor. Although you can see the restaurant from the street, the entrance is not on the main street but on the sides, and there's only one side has a working elevator, while the other has the stairs. Either way, you'll find your way up there. We will be back. I can't wait to try more Malaysian dishes at this restaurant. We had a great time. Excellent food and service! Thanks!

I use to be a frequent diner here but not so much lately. The food is still good but the prices have increased drastically. This is Flushing so there are many options if an establishment does NOT pay attention to the needs of its regular customers. Service was a bit off as the appetizer skewers arrived 10 minutes after the entree. Staff was polite. No tea is offered here but you can request hot water. Not busy for a Sunday evening compared to other venues. Would return if prices return back to reflect the vicinity.

Google
I go here about every other month and sometimes once a month. I love the food! A lot of classic Malaysian dishes along with some dishes with a twist! It’s in a good location and close to so many other spots so it’s good to go if you’re hanging out with friends or want to explore the area. The service is good and fast. My favorite is the curry chicken.

Google
This place is one of the few places to get authentic Halal Malaysian food that’s really good. The restaurant was extremely clean and the vibes are great. The waiters and kitchen staff was really kind and nice food came out clean and tasty. I’d rank it a solid B+ for the food not as good as I had in Malaysia, but I’d come back and invite my friends.

Google
Delicious place for Malaysian food. The portions are huge! They have so many things to choose from you can’t go wrong. The roti was so good and I highly recommend getting this with any entree. The entree themselves are huge and can easily be shared between two people. Highly recommend coming here especially after sky view mall.

Google
Was quite excited to come here and had high expectations. Looked like a fancy Malaysian place. So the way to order is you fill out a paper and you bubble in what you want. Never did that for Malaysian before and WOW, legit, food came within minutes. Everything was super hot. I was a little disappointed that food wasn’t as amazing as I would want. I was craving something specific they did not have it. Their menu is definitely different from the usual Malaysian restaurants I go to. They didn’t have a lot of the regular dishes. The drinks were really good though.

Yelp
Sometimes I think this restaurant was named after my Yelp buddy Rich W. Take the outside elevator in Fulton Square on Prince St up to some excellent Malaysian cuisine! The floor plan is almost a clone of Nan Xiang, 1 floor below. It was pretty easy getting a table on a Tuesday night, but it can get crazy in here on the weekends. In the past, we've ordered catered platters of food for parties, but this was our first experience dining in. For appetizers, we start with the Roti Canai and Mixed Satay Skewers. My son has great childhood memories of his uncle buying him his favorite chicken satay skewers from Chinatown and the ones here at PappaRich are just as good. I especially like the way it's served with course chopped peanut sauce, cucumber slices and raw red onions. The Hainanese Chicken is pretty good and tasty. I was expecting it to have bones, but we accidentally ordered it boneless(?) which was better anyway, less work. Order some Jasmine rice to soak up the sauce. We also had the Penang Oyster Omelet, which was so-so. To balance out the meal, we also ordered the White Beech Mushrooms & Mixed Vegetables that came in a little brass wok. Overall, the meal was pretty good. Even though I thought it was overpriced, it's worth it once in a while. Definitely come back for the Chicken Satay skewers!

Yelp
Service: 4/5 Food: 3.1/5 Came here early so no lines. It's not as upscale as I remembered it, nonetheless, still a little pricy for mid-Malaysian food. Could go somewhere else for cheaper + comparably the same quality. Only special thing is the kaya toast, which I have yet to find elsewhere. Not the most attentive staff, they leave you to your own thing. Didn't take that long to flag someone down though. They pack up your leftovers for which is nice. Downsides: they charge you separately for rice. *Recommended What I Ordered: - Satay Chicken*: tender, sweet - Roti Canai w/ Curry Chicken*: could've been crispier, spicer curry than other places. not sure what the yellow sauce is. I liked the sweeter sauce. - Kaya Toast*: could've been crispier, lumpy butter should be more evenly spread. kaya always hits - Fried Sambal French Beans w/ Shrimp*: perfectly crunchy. could've used more sambal - Half Hainan Steamed Chicken: a little chewy, not super fragrant - Nasi Lemak w/ Chicken & Shrimp: tender chicken, a little forgettable - Chicken Rice: good size bowl, subtle in flavor - Coconut Rice: eating companion said it didn't taste like anything

Yelp
Ordered: Mixed Satay - ST3 (~$14): grilled beef and chicken skewers with peanut dipping sauce Biryani Rice - Curry Chicken, Braised Beef, & Sambal Shrimp - R12 (~$20): with egg and green beans Aya's take: First time trying Malaysian food! No reservations needed and service is prompt. We shared the Mixed Satay and Biryani Rice which was plenty of food for 2 people. It's very affordable and good value overall. The Mixed Satay was savory, well-seasoned, with a slightly crispy exterior. Both were good but the chicken satay was definitely superior. We thought the Biryani Rice was a great choice since it has 3 different proteins - curry chicken, braised beef, and sambal shrimp. What more can you want!? Honestly, this one fell short for me and deserves a 3/5. The curry chicken and biryani rice were the best items on the dish. The braised beef was too fatty and mostly sweet while the sambal shrimp was also sweet and mostly cold. Actually, most of the food on this plate was barely warm which made it less enjoyable to eat. It was a good try but I'd probably go elsewhere for Malay cuisine.

Yelp
Came in here 40 min before closing on a Sunday night and the hospitality was next level. Food was fresh, served quickly and staff was very kind. The food was so flavorful and different from other more mainstream cuisines, felt very authentic. Would loveeee to come back! Very nice seating and glass windows as well.

Yelp
I came here on a Friday afternoon with a friend. This place was on the third floor so it's not very crowded compared to other restaurants in the area. We ordered the roti canai (curry chicken, sweet spicy sambal, lentil sauce), the shrimp noodle soup (yellow noodles, chicken, shrimp, water spinach), and the golden rice (fried chicken, egg, eggplant, pappadum cracker, yellow rice). The roti canai was not that flakey but the curry chicken and the sauces were good. The shrimp noodle soup was flavorful and delicious. The golden rice was okay but the fried chicken was a bit dry. Service was fast. This place was a solid choice for Malaysian.

Yelp
Loved the Malaysian cuisine here. Not sure about the name of the dish I had here but it tasted great. It had a pretty big portion of meat. Chicken satay was chef kiss. I loved the satay sauce. I have tried their chicken roti and it was amazing too. The restaurant was pretty clean and has a nice vibe.

Yelp
Can't believe I knew of PappaRich the whole time and didn't know what I was missing out on until now! Their menu was expansive, but we stuck with their signatures for now. The Roti Canai was so flavorful. Their flatbread was so soft, slightly flaky, and paired well with the lentil sauce and sweet spicy sambal. Their chicken was tender. The chicken in the Nasi Lemak was slightly more on the dry side, but both well flavored. The standout of this dish for me has to be the rice! I need to start infusing my rice with coconut, because it was incredible. Unfortunately, our Butter Kaya Toast didn't end it on the high note for us. When they say butter, they mean a whole slab of it sandwiched between 2 sweet breads. The kaya jam was a bit too sweet for me, but still worth a try. It's a no brainer I have to come back to try more dishes!

Yelp
Came here again this past weekend and AC was blasting!! So glad they fixed this and I didn't sweat or smell like food after eating. Food came out fast and was fresh. Everytime i come here, they hit the spot. the roti canai was excellent and they give you many pieces of curry chicken with it. The server was super attentive and refilled water without having to ask.

Yelp
Everything was mediocre. The Char Kwan Teow was terrible. The tofu was so not cooked well and didn't sit well with flat noodles. The tofu felt pukish and taste was awful. I don't recommend this restaurant!

Yelp
This is where I went for my 18th birthday and the service was so nice and accommodating because we had a baby with us. It was so amazing, from the biryani chicken to the naan with chicken, the eggplant was one of my favorites, and the hainese chicken was so tender. I loved the biryani rice's flavor and the nasi lemak was so amazing. We even had the best skewers here and the peanut sauce just added to it.

Yelp
- Ambience Located at the 3rd floor of One Fulton Square plaza, you can access through an elevator or the stairs. They have outdoor seating for the nicer days. Inside was a but chilly with the AC, however, that may be a personal comfort. Inside there are two, single all gender restrooms. The restrooms are quite small like an airplane restroom. - Service Customers can call for service with the button at the table. Unfortunately, when my friends and I stayed, we felt very rushed to leave the place as the waitress semi-tossed the check at our table while we were still eating the dessert (ABC Special) we had just recieved from the kitchen. We found that to be unconfortable and rude. - Food Very flavorful, we reccomend the curry chicken nasi lamak and the roti canai. Definitely you wont be bored. Just make sure to order a milk based drink if you are sensitive to spice. The shaved ice dessert seemed a bit overrated though.

Yelp
PappaRich today for lunch was flavorful, amazing, and just what was needed. I went here years ago, I honestly don't remember what was ordered, but I wasn't trying enough Malaysian food yet. Coming here today makes me want to come back the next time around. All of the food was delicious. Roti Canai came with three sauces. I stayed away from the really spicy sauce because my soul couldn't take it. The other two were flavorful and tasty. My entrée, Wat Tan Hor with the Chicken and Shrimp was SO good! My tastebuds were so happy, it was a delicious meal. In the middle of the dish, the noodles are in, and it didn't soak in with the soup unless you mix it in. Service was good. We didn't see our server often because there's a small buzzer at the table if you need their attention. She did come around from time to time. All forms of payment are accepted. Parking in Flushing is not easy. You should either find a nearby lot and take a walk to PappaRich, which is in a shopping center. Can't wait to come back soon.

Yelp
Always a great place to come by and eat . Barely any wait time and food come quick . Place is clean . Have two bathrooms

Yelp
Delicious Malaysian food in flushing on the 2nd floor of a restaurant complex. Their hainese chicken is juicy and flavorful. I always get their wet egg seafood chow fun and roti with different dipping sauces. Will need to come back to try more options from their menu!
google avatar

Moeka S.

Yelp
I got here as one of the last food crawl spot on the flushing trip. This is a Malaysian fast casual? place. My partner got this curry chicken and shrimp dish. Even at the end of the food trip this was so good I kept eating these. Very flavorful and the even rice tasted good! I got some noodle with chicken and shrimp, which was more of a homier mild broth that was good. We might have taken a while to order because of the sizable menu, which we love to take a good look at, but maybe because of it I felt rushed to order multiple times. Also the AC was so strong that my appetite shrank a little once I was inside... Overall, great food for a great price!
google avatar

Priscilla C.

Yelp
Been here a bunch of times since they first opened & it's usually very consistent and a good solid choice! I'd probably give it more of an 3.5 rating, but round it to 4 b/c the staff & service are usually really good. If you're looking for safe choices that I'd recommend getting it would be their roti canai, their hainanese chicken, and their prawn mee! Those are my favorite things to order. I've had other stuff too but wouldn't say it stands out or is anything special. Overall, again, it's a solid spot for food!
google avatar

Tracy S.

Yelp
Great service, very quick and attentive with water refills! The ambiance is pretty but restaurant doesn't seem that big so maybe be mindful of waiting if it's a popular eating time. Overall, we really enjoyed the beef rendang and the satays!! Definitely worth coming back again soon!
google avatar

Elizabeth T.

Yelp
O m g this was my first time having Malaysian food and it did not disappoint. We ordered the roti with chicken curry, noodles and rice with fried chicken and shrimp. Everything was so tasty and we finished every single bite! The service was pretty fast and I like that the menu came with pictures so we could visualize what we were ordering haha. I'd definitely come back and get another roti with chicken curry.

Jessica L.

Yelp
I recently dined at a PappaRich which is located on the top floor of the plaza and had a good experience. The Hainan chicken was very tender, though I wished the chili sauce had been a bit spicier. I also tried the roti, which was super chewy, hot, and flaky--would most definitely order again! The noodles, however, were not particularly special. Despite this, the overall dining experience was pleasant. We visited on a Sunday evening and found plenty of seating with no wait time. The service was very quick, adding to the positive experience.

Yelp
This is a good family spot for Asian families or those wanting to try a variety of Asian flavors. They won't be the best you've ever had but PappaRich does a variety of Asian cuisines quite decently: Indian, Thai, Malaysian, Chinese. There were a variety of dishes so I won't go into detail but I can assure you each dish were of decent quality, clean flavors and seasoning, and easy to enjoy (not overly spicy or overwhelming or sweet), well balanced. My favorite was the beef skewer. The lemongrass seasoning here is the best notes of lemon grass I've had, with a great firmness to it. Overall, decent family style spot, but I would only go here with grandparents or old uncles and aunts kind of deal (which is what happened).
google avatar

Queena C.

Yelp
Great service, always checking to make sure our table is not clutters with napkin and straw scraps. The food was good, mild spice level even for those who can't tolerate spice and very flavorful dishes. We also fit 5 people in one booth!

Yelp
Earlier this month, I've made it to this restaurant after seeing a YouTube video on eating a budget ($50). One of the recommended dishes is the Roti canai. The dish was amazing, and if you are solo dining, it's a cheap meal, just be itself. Plus, I got to enjoy a Lychee soda, which was very refreshing. Since a lot of the hot desserts were sold out, I settled for the mango mania, which was really good. The following day, I took my friend for a late dinner, and omg, the dinner portions were huge. We got the mixed satay, which is worth getting. I'd like to do a Malaysian satay food tasting event but need a space to do it, and is it feasible for transport purposes? We ordered two noodle dishes, one was noodles with beef, ginger, and egg with gravy, and the other was dry noodles with dark soy sauce and wontons. Both Noodle dishes were tasty and huge. I wouldn't know if I'd order these Noodle again. Again, the hot desserts were sold out, but I got to enjoy their hot teh Tarik. I will definitely be back and get the opportunity to try the hot desserts.

Yelp
A big spacious place, it's bit hard to find since it's upstairs and hidden away in the corner. There's a lot of food options on their menu so you have a lot to choose from. My go to is the beef rendang it is so tender and the sauce is not too spicy goes perfect with rice ! Service is quick and the food comes out right away. Definitely a go to whenever you're in flushing !
google avatar

Wendy Y.

Yelp
I've been here twice now and food has been consistently great. I love how accessible the menu is, studded with photos of their more popular dishes. I also love how it's never too crowded, so I can just walk in and grab a table for too. Although the restaurant feels more like a chain, the food here doesn't stray far from authentic Malay cuisine. The first time I visited, I had the Char Kway Teow. The flavor of the noodles was rich, bold, and umami. This time, I ordered the Biryani Rice with Beef Rendang and Sambal Shrimp. The beef was so tender and rich, it was almost buttery. The fattiness from stewing in coconut milk really soaked into the beef cubes. Both the beef and sambal shrimp had a slight spice to it. Letting the juices from the meats seep into the rice let the flavors permeate every corner of the plate. While the food is delightful, I did find my drinks to be very sweet. I liked the rose bandung but the Ribena Melon was excessively sweet. I foresee many visits to Pappa Rich in the future, especially considering its close proximity to Tangram!
google avatar

Dom G.

Yelp
Came here on a Saturday night, was meant to go elsewhere but the line was too long. Was glad i was able to be seated straight away. Ordered a variety of noodles and rice dishes. Food came relatively quick enough. The biryani with beef, chicken and shrimp was pretty tasty; likewise with the noodles dishes I ordered. Prices were average, probably on par with other Malaysian restaurants. I don't think the restaurant has their alcohol license as no alcohol available on the menu.
google avatar

Wendy Y.

Yelp
Roti canai here is on point! For entrees, we got 2 orders of the beef rendeng, curry chicken, and the beef stew. All tasted great! I will say it was a little difficult to communicate with our waitress so please be patient and courteous when you're ordering!
google avatar

Mizan R.

Yelp
Very good malaysian food the food came out so fast and the service was great. when you sit down they give you a piece of paper where you write down the menu option and quantity. the sambah seasoning on some of the dishes didn't really hit for me but the rice and chicken were good the dhaal is some of the best i've had in a restaurant and i recommend trying the roti dish it comes with your choicke of meat dhaal and the sambah sauce. for entree i got chicken and golden rice it was good and full of flavors. tasted very authentic and rice was cooked good. i wasn't a fan of the shrimp sambah. the chicken curry was intense curry very very good and i recommend it! we didn't have room for dessert.
google avatar

Afrin K.

Yelp
Ordered their roti canai and iced white coffee for breakfast. Super tasty food and clean restaurant. They open at 11 am so be mindful that their hours are different on the webpage. Overall highly recommend and if you've never had iced white coffee, this is a must try!
google avatar

Grace W.

Yelp
I come here entirely for the food and not the service lol. It took about 5-10 minutes for us to Be seated. Once the food arrived the food is delicious. The way to order is they give you a piece of paper and you write what you want. I could eat endless roti canais with chicken. And we love the noodles as well the Malaysian coffee it is so good. I do wish the lighting was a bit more romantic since it's a bit bright but I don't mind. We love coming here. This was our second time back and definitely plan on coming again.
google avatar

Ray R.

Yelp
This was my first visit to Pappa Rich and it was a very good one. The roti is to die for, thier Biryani is quite different, they bring a curry mutton and then pour the rice over it. All in all, it was nice to get some Malaysian food here in NYC.
google avatar

Patrick C.

Yelp
Not authentic, quality and taste were poor plus $2 surcharge for being specific getting white or brown meat for their Hainanese Chicken rice!? Not worth visiting .. The only positive coming out of this dinner was got a table immediately at 19:45 on a Frid

Yelp
I haven't been here in yrs. We used to pick up chicken curry, laksa, or satay mostly. Everyone mentions how amazing the roti is with the three sauces so I ordered it even though I normally never get appetizers. Also got beef rendang since it used to my father's favorite dish. Roti comes with Dahl, sambal, and curry chicken. All the sauces were really good. Sambal is just sweet, not spicy but tasty. The curry chicken was better than I recall, a lil spicy. Really good, probably really high in sodium. Dahl, also great. Got the sweet, savory, spicy. I ate it with sushi rice, so good... Beef rendang cooked well, very tender. Much better than where I used to get it from Elmhurst. The food is a lil pricey but that's every restaurant now, even more so since I get it delivered out of convenience. I order food here once a week now since L loves their curry chicken and the braised beef is so good. L doesn't care for it but it really is delicious. I love Cantonese style beef stew with tendon but this version is a little sweeter. It's so good over rice or mixed with knife cut noodles.. amazing.. the best noodle dish you'll eat. I didn't care for the Penang char kway teow. It didn't have that much flavor. Their fried hainanese chicken was a small portion but the flavor was pretty good.

Yelp
Indoor and outdoor seating at the highest floor of the building. Cleanliness is decent and their ordering system is unique. They'll hand you the menu with a paper and pencil in which you fill out the order yourself on the paper, answering the food item number, quantity, and additional notes on the side. Once you're done you ring the bell to give them your order. Every time I come here the food is good. Took some pics of stuff off the menu that I've never tried, but my go-tos are the roti canai with 3 dipping sauce/curry (recommend), and Nasi lemak (also recommend). They also have a lot of drink options which are good. You may also want to try their shaved ice that I've come to recognize as ABC shaved ice, but this is the only place that still serves this dessert in flushing to my knowledge.

Yelp
Absolutely loved the food we ordered. My wife picked biryani platter with beef and shrimp and i picked the chicken and rice platter. Both dishes was packed with right amount of spices to taste and meat was also perfectly cooked. I will say it's a must place to visit for Malaysian cuisine.

Yelp
I love this place! The waitstaff is great. The roti with curry chicken (called Roti Canai with the flaky crusty roti) and the yummy Hainanese chicken. I am a huge fan of their noodles and their rice dishes. I like this spot. It's close to the Tangram mall and walking distance from the main street 7 train stop.

Yelp
I'm bummed about the 3.5 for them because I really enjoyed it here. 1. Clean bathroom 2. Friendly staff 3. I liked everything we ordered We ordered: 1. Curry fish balls - I absolutely love these. Great portions too. I would have love to have a skewer of these to go. 2. Roti Canai - the bread is so flaky and fluffy! I loved all three sauces it came with: one was like BBQ, one was chicken curry, the other was starch (potato? Lentils?) based. It had like a hummus consistency. 3. Curry Laksa Seafood Noodle Soup - generous portions with plenty of squid, clams, shrimp. These are the large flat noodles too which are my favorite. 4. Three Layered Drink - so delicious! Taste like burnt sugar which I've, but one of my friends preferred the lychee soda, which was also amazing. Taste nothing like those lychee soda you get vat stores - less artificial tasting 5. Homemade Lychee Soda - refreshing and super carbonated! I was worried they were going to use a pre-opened club soda of some kind and the drink would come somewhat flat. Served with two lychee fruit.

Yelp
The service is great. There's a button on the table you can click on for help. The staff are so nice and get you seated and placed with cutlery and water right away. The food is always delicious. Very flavorful. The coconut rice is slightly sweet and compliments the curries very well. The beef and chicken are both super tender with a slight sweetness in both. We also got the mango madness and the lychee soda drink. I loved the lychee soda it was sweet and refreshing in a hot day. The ambiance is modern and casual. Great for families and I always say when I'm here I don't feel like I'm in nyc! Great place I always highly recommend.

Yelp
I've been to PapaRich twice and have had a pleasant experience both times. However, I'm not sure if I'll go back again soon since there are so many other food options around. Roti Canai with Curry Chicken: The roti wasn't fluffy, but we loved the the curry chicken and dhal. Mee Goreng: Our least favorite dish due to the pungent, sour flavor of the sauce. Rice w/ Chicken, Rendang & Shrimp: The rice was super fragrant and flavorful! I liked the tender curry chicken and braised beef, but I didn't like the spicy, cold shrimp. Black Pepper Beef on Sizzling Plate: I was pretty disappointed with how poorly cooked and tough the beef was.

Yelp
Solid place for Malaysian food. Everything is good! I really like the sweet sauce in nasi lemak; it goes well with the chicken, rice, and roasted peanuts (it costs $2 if you want extra peanuts ). The hainan chicken is tasty as well (but it can't beat the one at Penang in Philly). The garlic naan is not that great. Very spacious place, price is reasonable, and good service.

Yelp
Absolutely 5 star for taste and quality food. The best part is no matter what you order you'll be more than satisfied. I've been here a few times but I finally remembered to snap some pics before I went beast mode. The haianese chicken is so fresh and tasty. The roti is flaky and the chicken curry is packed with flavor and kick of spice. The mixed vegetable clay pot was spicier than I expected so I couldn't each much but the vegetables were abundant and cooked to perfection. They weren't soggy at all and went well with the chicken rice. Highly recommend this place for any occasion. Staff is very nice.

Yelp
As a Malaysian in America, I haven't been home for over 20 years so I do miss Malaysian Food. Especially food that as you get older, you are slowly starting to forget what it tastes like. But PappaRich reminded me of what Malaysian food is or at least as close as can be. The Curry Mee was to die for, mouth watering at best and mix that with some Char Kueh Teow, you get the bang of both worlds. The teh tarik was crazy good as well, would definitely be back. The service and the ambiance was great!

Yelp
Liked their Nasi Lemak but could use more fried anchovies. Tried with the shrimp sambal which is spicy. Wat tan hor is pan fried wide noodles (soft noodles) with chicken, shrimp and chinese broccoli in an egg gravy, which reminded me of lobster sauce. ABC special with vanilla ice cream reminds me of filipino halo halo, has a lot of toppings (longan, sweet corn, peanuts, red beans, cincau (grass jelly), cendol jelly (pandan jelly) but is not as sweet, more savory and not milk-based. The serving is shareable. I remembered the first time we came here: Satay combo of chicken and beef was a good choice- with a side order of rice became a good meal. Biryani rice was ok but nothing special.

Yelp
I was excited to try a bunch of different items at PappaRich but unfortunately 2/3 fell flat. The mixed satay was rubbery albeit the peanut sauce with it was tasty. The three layer ice tea tasted off even after I mixed it well but maybe it's an acquired taste. However, the hainan chicken over rice was fantastic but just 1/3 things being good doesn't really say much. I would order the hainan chicken again but it'd end there.

Yelp
This place was chosen due to it having outdoor seating terrace style so not by the sidewalk. However, due to it being outdoors it was a bit dirty and they never wiped our tables and chairs which we had to do ourselves. My friends all had wipes so that's what we did. Let's see the service wasn't that great. Had to repeatedly ask for things. I ordered a dessert and that wasn't brought out to me and they charged me for it. I had to bring it to their attention. They were shocked about that, but instead of apologizing they acted all innocent. Even if it was an honest mistake take ownership and ask if I want it or not now. In order to get the staffs attention it was through this call bell at the table. Which was convenient. Unto what I had ordered which was the satay mixed which came on six Skewers. Three of them were chicken and the other three were beef. The Skewers came with sauce, but I don't suggest getting the meat as it was mostly burnt. Unless you enjoy eating charred meat. Tried the seafood curry laksa and that was alright. Ate the seafood char kway and that was really tasteless, I had to ask for hot sauce which came when I was almost done with this dish. Can service be any slower??!! The pappa chendol wasn't that good, but the roti canal with Kaya and vanilla ice cream was much better. From the entire meal, I only liked that one dessert with roti. Flushing is really diverse and so many places to check out so won't be coming back again as I wasn't impressed by their service and food.

Yelp
Another favorite spot with friends, but it's my first time reviewing. I got the Mango Mania drink and the Penang Assam Laksa - both of which were really tasty and satisfying. We also got some chicken skewers to share, which were delicious. The restaurant is big enough that we usually don't have to wait too long for a table, even with large groups. Plus the service is pretty quick.

Yelp
My coworker and I ordered food to take home. She had the C5 Roti Canai (3 Pieces) and I had the Biryani Rice W. Curry Chicken & Beef Rendang & Sambal Shrimp and St3 Satay Beef I wasn't a fan of the R13 Biryani Rice W. Curry Chicken & Beef Rendang & Sambal Shrimp. It tasted bland and I couldn't get past the rice. It lacked flavor and salt. The ST3 Satay Mixed Grill was delicious. The mixed grill includes beef and chicken skewers. You get three of each. I also ordered them separately. If you order Satay Chicken or Satay Beef it'll come with five skewers. The peanut sauce that's included with the skewers is phenomenal. You can just eat that along and it has a hint of spice.

Yelp
Food was pretty good. Nothing spectacular but not terrible either. Their seafood laksa was very average. The waitresses were very nice but not properly trained. They have no concept of order of service. My friend's entree of curry chicken was the first to arrive at the table. No drinks none of the appetizers etc etc. Then the sate, then my laksa then the drinks and last was the roti Canai. How lame.

Yelp
Great restaurant for authentic malaysian food. The entrees were splendid. I would skip the satay next time as it was too dry.
