Luxe Bakery Mah-Ze-Dahr — And Other D.C. Closures to Know - Eater DC

The Hit List: New DC Restaurants To Try Right Now - Washington DC - The Infatuation

"Union Market’s pizza game is a lot stronger thanks to Parachute Pizza. The stall’s crispy Sicilian pizza comes in seven different combinations, but our favorite is the Spicy Boii, which is covered in pepperoni, pickled chilis, and hot honey. Our New York friends would still roll their eyes, but it’s pretty good pizza for DC standards. While the whole pies are pricey—they range from $36-46—they’re gooey, the fresh crust is buttery and crunchy, and they’re better than the slices which can be dry. Grab a box, post up at their long, shared tables or bar, and take your sweet time to eat all eight of your thick slices." - Tristiana Hinton, Omnia Saed

Parachute Pizza Swoops Into Union Market This Fall - Eater DC

"Union Market gets a new spot for Sicilian slices and pies this fall. Parachute Pizza swoops into, headed for the back food hall stall where Red Apron sat, comes from the team behind Brookland's French wine bar Primrose (Sebastian Zutant, Erin Im, and Oliver Friendly). Parachute is an independent project for the trio, who all share a love for the rectangular Italian pies. Expect four to six varieties at a time topped with classic and seasonal ingredients, plus a gluten-free option." - Tierney Plumb

Wow, really yummy pizza! This is one of the more affordable food options at Union Market at $7 for a slice of pepperoni pizza loaded either perfectly crisp, cupped pepperoni! The slice, once reheated, was impressively crispy. There are several tables reserved exclusively for Parachute Pizza customers, which is very helpful for when Union Market is very busy because finding seating can be challenging at times. The employee who served me was very nice as well! I’ll be back to try more 🙂

Google
Located inside Union Market Food Hall, new pizza spot serving Sicilian/Detroit style pizza. You dont find that type of pizza very often, especially in DC. I appreciate the vegetarian options; pictured is the fungi and space cadet pizzas. Crust and sauce/flavors is just right. Worth a try if you are looking for high-quality pizza!

Google
Great spot serving Sicilian-style slices. My favorite is the spicy boi but I haven't tried all of them just yet so I'm excited to make my way through the menu. $7 or $8 is a bit much for a slice but when you factor in the Union Market "tax," it's actually reasonable. Plus the slices are a good size. The only knock is that sometimes they are out of the flavor you want so just be aware of that when you're stopping by.

Google
Hands down one of the best slices of pizza I’ve ever had. It was everything I love in a pizza. It was thick and crispy with the perfect amount of sauce, cheese and tons of pepperoni.

Google
Great quality pizza (crispy crust with a good chew, sauce with depth and excellent flavor, quality toppings). Diverse selection. Cost is appropriate for portion and quality. Occasionally it's packed as is everything at certain times in Union Market.

Google
Okay pizza, it's more like a crispty topped - focaccia or an airy breadstick. I got the chicken buffalo pizza ($8 for a 4x5 inch Square) which was good. Buffalo sauce was an experimental for me since I don't like Buffalo sauce at all (too vinegar/sour) this one was light which was plus. Overall it was good, but I prefer a traditional pizza.

Google
I can't rate Parachute Pizza highly enough. The pizza is outstanding - the cacio e Pepe is especially amazing, but they are all good - the owners and staff are extraordinary. Crispy crust, sauces you'll be dreaming of for days. In a town full of pizza options, this one stands out!

Google
Well-composed Sicilian-style square slices of pizza. Really enjoyed the toppings on both slices I tried - the mushroom and garlic confit as well as the New Haven style clam slice. 4/5 because slices are served before they're warmed all the way through (a common problem in DC pizzerias)

Yelp
Honestly, not great. The pizza tasted old, not rebaked properly, and just not worth the calories. The only thing they have going for them is the seating, which at Union Market can be few and far between. Only gave it a 2 instead of 1 star because I finished the slice... but otherwise, meh.

Yelp
FOOD We tried the Spicy Boii slice, topped with pepperoni, garlic confit, pickled chilis, and hot honey. The combination of flavors was spot-on, with the sweetness of the honey balancing the heat from the chilis, while the garlic added depth. The toppings and sauce worked perfectly with the crispy, crunchy crust. SERVICE Ordering is straightforward and efficient via a self-checkout kiosk. AMBIANCE Located within a bustling food hall, there's plenty of seating available throughout the venue. It can get quite lively during meal hours, and Union Market is a popular spot even on weekdays.. PARKING Ample parking is available in the lot near Union Market. However, be cautious and keep valuables out of sight, as break-ins are known to happen in the area.

Yelp
I'm honestly kinda bummed :-/ I first learned about parachute pizza when they did a collab with Chiko. I didn't make it over to try it in time but I was in the area and took a few slices home. (Asked for it to not be heated up since it was going home with me for later and that was totally fine) But when I got home and realized I got a pepperoni slice with 3 pieces of pepperoni I was :-( like let me be a big back lol WHERES THE MEAT? All my pieces were corner slices and the toppings were just underwhelming. Maybe if I got a middle slice with adequate toppings I'd feel differently.

Yelp
Omg! I love the slice called Space Cadet. It's delicious! It's all delicious! They're also very friendly and courteous.

Yelp
Great pizza! I recommend the pepperoni or mushroom. Friendly staff and quick service.

Yelp
Tried out this store for a fast and casual bite. The pizza is really juicy and goes well with its sauces. Would love to try other flavors in the future!

Yelp
This is a new spot, and i hope to return to update this review. Food: the Cacio e Pepe slice looked delicious. I mistakenly ordered the fungi. It has whole pieces or roasted garlic on it which was nice. The pizza, however, was undercooked, so the whole top layer was gummy. I ate the underside of the pizza with the toppings. 4/10 Ranch is very good 10/10 Service: i mistakenly ordered the wrong pizza using the kiosk. The woman working was very dismissive when i went to inquire about it. She printed the receipt and had another staff member bring me the receipt, but she never even acknowledged me. The gentlemen who came to bring me the receipt was kind. 4/10 I want to return after the place is established and finally try the Cacio e Pepe slice.

Yelp
I was so excited when Parachute Pizza opened in Union Market! I LOVE detroit style pizza and this one definitely did not disappoint.

Yelp
I love the energy from one of the guys that works there! He's always high energy and so nice! It's loud since it's in the market but it's also high too seating with is more comfortable than other seating around the market! I don't like the square pizza because it's WAY too much cheese for me but they have a new NY style pizza and I'm OBSESSED! Definitely recommend!

Yelp
I want to give this place a 5 but my last visit knocked it down. The first time I tried this place, I got the mushroom pizza during lunch on Sunday and it was perfect. Well cooked, no soggy bottom, yummy overall - this was the first picture. It was so good I came back the next day with my husband. So this second time my husband got the hot pepperoni & I got the mushroom again. Both of the pizzas were cold in the middle. Warm to the touch on the corners, but inside was soggy and cold - the cheese was just stiff - this is the second pic

Yelp
The food is ready good and the service is quick also the staff are very polite and friendly

Yelp
I got two slices, one Buffalo and one Pepe, both were well cooked and I enjoyed the crunchy texture to the bottom. I think the Buffalo sauce used on the slice wasn't the best and leaned towards that more artificial flavor. Very simple ordering process and my friend & I received our orders fairly quickly even during a busy lunch period. I was a bit disappointed that they did not have any Diet soda options.

Yelp
Highly recommend! Pizza was absolutely amazing. Staff was friendly and the place was clean. Was able to meet the owner and he was super nice. He told me about the chemical and physical processes of making the pizza taste good which was super interesting because I'm a nerd. And he told me how the pH matters, and flavor profiles, and all this love and attention that goes into making good food. You can tell they really care about the pizza. Will 10/10 go back.

Yelp
Pizza is a matter of preference and taste, but this is one to definitely try. Detroit style ( thicker) pizza and a wide variety of toppings and options. Each pizza looks like a piece of art made to culinary perfection. Very popular with locals which is always a great sign.

Yelp
Parachute pizza is a gem in DC! The pizza is absolutely freaking delicious. Perfectly fresh. So flavorful I love the toppings! Amazing pizza experience. Only downside is they don't have garlic bread but if they did I'm sure it'd be a banger! Please make some garlic bread. 5 stars!!!!! Get you some! Service was top shelf. Ambiance was top shelf. Can't wait to go back!
