Where To Get Food From The African Diaspora In Philly - Philadelphia - The Infatuation

"Parada Maimon can be a little inconsistent. Sometimes we stop by and are met by closed doors during their open hours or can’t get a call through on their phones. But when you’re lucky enough to get an order of their deep-fried red snapper, plantains, yellow rice and beans, and fresh-squeezed mango juice, it’s always worth the effort. The breading on the fish has a great crunch, not to mention the batter has a ton of fiery peppers mixed in—so you might need to have one of those juices, by the gallon, on standby." - candis mclean

The 17 Best Caribbean Restaurants In Philly - Philadelphia - The Infatuation

"Parada Maimon is a Dominican spot in Callowhill that’s as hot and cold as the Tinder match who's currently playing mind games with you. Sometimes we stop by during open hours and the doors are locked; other times, we can’t get through on the phone. But when you’re lucky enough to get an order of their deep-fried red snapper, plantains, yellow rice and beans, and fresh-squeezed mango juice, it’s always worth the effort. The breading on the fish has a great crunch, and the batter has a ton of fiery peppers mixed in, so you might need to have one of those juices, by the gallon, on standby." - candis mclean

This place is one of the most authentic Dominican restaurants I've been to so far! From the decor, the friendly staff and the food, everything was fantastic! Definitely looking forward to come back! Highly recommend!

I was visiting Philly about 4 weeks ago and needed some Latin food. I found Parada Maimon was close. I had arroz blanco con frijoles and pernil for lunch. Despite being on the salty side it was very good. I would have liked to have aguacate and tostones to go with it. They had a nice selection of food dishes, good atmosphere, nice service. I would have given a better rating if the beans and pernil wasn’t so salty and if aguacate and/or tostones where offered. However, still a good place to get your Latin food dishes

Homecooked, filling, DELICIOUS. I ordered the cerdo guidado and it came with rice, beans. I also ordered super tasty maduros, sweet plantain. SO good. Great prices (see menu).

This place is like going home for Sunday dinner. Total family vibes. They feed you like grandma is loading up your plate. So comforting. A wonderful place to take a moment and fill your belly.

I stopped ordering from here years ago because they have this extensive menu and have about 5 options available. I gave it a chance in person this time and although I spoke to the lady in Spanish she just wanted to give me what she wanted me to have. It was just all over the place. Previously the food wasn’t that great but this time the food was pretty good. It’s pretty much a hit or miss with this restaurant.

The food was fantastic! I ordered goat and tail (ox or cow not sure), which were so well-prepared that I have to go back one day. The place itself could use a little love, but it's clean and neat.

Atmosphere alone was enough to make me turnaround. You come here and this is mot Dominican energy... at least not from Santiago... maybe some little campo in the middle of no where valley... but if you want more clients, play music... also, I could smell how old the oil the fryers are.
