Jamaican and Vietnamese Crawfish Boils Both Pop Up in NOLA This Week | Eater New Orleans

"Tonight at Paradigm Gardens I can catch a Jamaican crawfish boil where Karibu Kitchen teams up with visiting Jamaican chef Swaison Brown and Turkey & the Wolf’s Nathan Barfield; the menu includes a curry crawfish boil, jerk chicken with Jamaican white barbecue sauce, dirty rice and peas with roasted pork shoulder, drunken cornbread, and special cocktails — it's 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m., tickets are $40, and BYOB is fine." - Stephanie Carter

We are so happy that we found and chose Paradigm Gardens for our wedding! We really can’t imagine having done it anywhere else, because this felt like the perfect venue for us. We honestly loved the entire process with Karen and the gardens. We kept wondering why planning a wedding has a reputation for being stressful, because we really enjoyed it. The day went perfectly, and so so many of our guest said it was honestly the best wedding they had been to. I think it is because it was laid back, yet beautiful, felt true to us as a couple, touching, and allowed space and time for genuine connection with us and our guests. Also the food was UNBELIEVABLE. We loved the concept of the outdoor kitchen, it tasted great, and was not your typical wedding food. We also have said multiple times since the wedding that we just miss Karen. 100% recommend if you want a unique and beautiful space and experience for your wedding in New Orleans.

We couldn’t have asked for a more beautiful venue for our wedding. Paradigm Gardens is stunning—the gardens are thoughtfully maintained and truly set the scene for an unforgettable outdoor celebration. The food was incredible: fresh, flavorful, and complemented perfectly by their expertly crafted cocktails. Even though the weather didn’t cooperate leading up to the event, the Paradigm Gardens team went above and beyond to make the space comfortable and perfectly accommodating. Their attention to detail and professionalism gave us total peace of mind on such an important day. Overall, we highly recommend Paradigm Gardens for weddings or any special occasion. It’s a truly special place with an amazing team behind it.

From the moment we arrived for our rehearsal, we knew we were in extraordinary hands. The sacred, uplifting energy that radiates through the garden is palpable—it immediately puts you at ease and makes the entire celebration feel meaningful and elevated. The grounds are immaculate, and it’s clear the groundskeeping team pours real care, artistry, and intention into every inch of the space. Every single detail of our wedding day and night was handled with grace, precision, and heart. The behind-the-scenes magic, the thoughtful accommodations, and the warmth and attentiveness of every team member made the entire experience feel effortless for us as a couple. That level of excellence doesn’t just happen—and as wedding vendors ourselves, we were genuinely impressed by the caliber of professionalism, coordination, and care across the board. You run an exceptional ship. The food and bar deserve their own standing ovation. We had countless guests come up to us throughout the night saying, “This is the best wedding food I’ve ever had.” And they meant it. The quality, execution, and flavor were truly Michelin-star worthy—which is incredibly difficult to achieve on a large scale. What sets this culinary team apart is that everything is plated fresh—not banquet-style, not mass-produced. You can taste the intention in every bite. Guests were eating hot, beautifully executed food while still fully immersed in the flow and joy of the night. Karen and the coordination team were exceptional—calm, intuitive, deeply capable, and genuinely invested in making our day feel personal, joyful, and seamless. We are endlessly grateful that we ended up with your team for our big day. It truly could not have gone more wonderfully in anyone else’s hands. If you are considering this venue and team: book them without hesitation. We will be advocating for this institution forever and actively looking for reasons to work together again. Same time next year? Love Suzy & Hunter

I can’t say enough about Paradigm Gardens! It was our dream venue and we had so many compliments about how beautiful it was. Karen and Sarah were a pleasure to work with. They would answer every question we had (sometimes multiple times because planning a wedding is crazy). They made it so much easier and we were never worried. The food is amazing. Again, every guest raved about the food. You can really tell that this venue and the people who work there care about every aspect of the gardens and the creatures that live there. A lot of time and effort goes into making your event happen from their team. It was awesome!!!

If you're looking for the perfect wedding venue in New Orleans, look no further—Paradigm Gardens is an absolute gem. From the moment we stepped onto the property, we knew it was the perfect place for our big day. It’s a true oasis, tucked away in the heart of the city. Karen, the event manager, made the entire planning process so easy and stress-free. She’s organized, responsive, and so knowledgeable—she truly took the time to understand our vision and helped bring it to life with ease. On the day of the wedding, Sarah was an incredible help as our day-of coordinator. She kept everything running smoothly, managing timelines and ensuring that everything went off without a hitch. We honestly didn’t have to worry about a thing! As if the venue wasn’t amazing enough, the food was absolutely outstanding. Our guests couldn’t stop talking about it! Many said it was the best wedding food they’ve ever had, and I couldn’t agree more. The catering was delicious, with flavors that felt fresh, local, and perfectly crafted. From the appetizers to the dessert, every dish was a hit. We are so grateful to everyone at Paradigm Gardens for making our wedding day beyond special.

Google
Our decision to book Paradigm Gardens for our wedding venue was a foundational choice on a long list of choices we can now look back on with zero regrets, and a profound sense of gratitude. For starters, we are from out of town, and the whole process of planning and communicating was done remotely, with no in person interaction, site visits, tastings, etc. We started this process blind, with very flexible expectations, relying on communication and an innate sense of reliability and professionalism. All we knew was that we wanted somewhere pretty and intimate, and if we could reduce the number of vendors we needed to organize from across the country, all the better. Right away, Paradigm was an exceptional fit. Quick response times, extremely reasonable pricing, and a one stop shop for many of your event needs while still excelling at each service they offered. Karen is amazing to work with. She assuaged any concerns, answered all questions, and provided reliable and informed suggestions we’re glad we listened to. Our day-of coordinator Sarah was amazing, security was exceptional, the kitchen deserves their own dedicated praise so I’ll save that for now, and all that was really left for us to coordinate on the day of was quick queues with the band, officiant, and photographer. With regards to services – the ceremony and reception were basically covered down to the last detail by Paradigm, at least for our needs. Ceremony chairs, a variety of table sets for the reception, utensils, plates, drinks (available from the moment doors open I might add), floral arrangements from the garden, linens, beautiful string lighting, a stage, dance floor, rain plan tent…. Paradigm will cover all of that for you, PLUS pygmy goats! Yes, your event needs goats; they make everything better. And I would be remiss if I didn’t rave at least a little about Chef Pat and his talented team in the open kitchen. Most wedding food is best described as “alright”, but the food from this kitchen has no place being lumped in with any of that. We selected a few options we had our sights set on and let our phone call with Chef guide our hand for the remaining menu choices. They managed a high variety menu with a seasonal flare and kept absolute perfection flying off the open flame and onto the serving table with meticulous consistency, attention to quality, and timing. From the second we walked back down the aisle, our guests had delicious appetizers in hand. No hungry, impatient guests wandering and praying for a drink at our Wedding – all covered, food and full bar at your fingertips faster than you can blink. With regards to the menu, It would be best described as rustic fine dining meets full flavor in the humblest, down to earth form factor, all on full display in the open kitchen. Our guests can’t stop reminding us of just how good the food, the beauty of the venue, and the overall experience were. Paradigm Gardens is truly a hidden gem. If you have a more involved vision for certain elements of your wedding, they offer so much more and the flexibility to source additional vendors, either with them or on your own. I can’t say enough; weddings are tough, but they don’t have to be, and with Paradigm you’ll want for nothing.

We can't recommend Paradigm Gardens enough!! It is a magical little place. We were looking for an intimate outdoor venue, easy logistics, and great food - and Paradigm Gardens checked all of those boxes. Karen and the team made planning super easy. The custom menu and bar were incredible. Best decision of our wedding planning!

Yelp
We had our wedding celebration party at Paradigm Gardens during the 'Taylor Swift' weekend last month. Every step of the process was friendly and helpful, and the grounds there were exquisite! The backdrop at night with the church was breathtaking in the photos, just like the artwork and gardens were. Karen who oversaw the details did a beautiful job of working with us to make the wide variety of guests feel 'seen' in the menu choices-- and the chef was amazingly calm and friendly as he executed a gorgeous meal for 80. Every detail went without a hitch, and the guests who had previously questioned this choice of venues, ALL gave it RAVE reviews afterward. THANK YOU PARADIGM GARDENS staff! You knocked it out of the park!

Yelp
I don't know why it's taken me so long to get over to this oasis in the city. BUT I finally did this week... and it was magical. My friends were married on a lovely afternoon in the garden with little goats bleating in the background, not quite in tune with the musician playing their entrance music. The space is an interesting combination of rustic and charming that was just all around perfect. There is beaucoup construction going on right now on Rampart. Parking is available behind the gardens on Clio.

Yelp
Wowza! Where do I begin. Had my son's rehearsal dinner here and it was perfect. The ambiance was amazing, the food was to die for. The staff and owner Joel were the best, so attentive to everything. The farm setting was perfect and the goats were adorable. A night to Remember!

Yelp
Several times a year Paradigm Gardens offers baby goat yoga in additional to the many other events they offer like outdoor socially distanced dinner and concerts. I attended baby goat yoga with friends and we all definitely enjoyed the experience even though none of us are yoga experts. The staff walked around during the yoga practice and placed goat kibbles on each mat to ensure that you received a visit for the baby goats. Everyone was so busy petting the goats and laughing that we didn't get much yoga done. It was a wonderfully fun group outdoor activity. Refreshments included fresh baked pastries and beverages like tea, coffee, and water. The garden in springtime is one of the most beautiful gardens I've seen in New Orleans. The staff seem very dedicated and caring.

Yelp
Every Sunday from 9am-12pm there is a plant sale with live music and some other local vendors. When I went there was empanadas and macaroons being sold. Admission is free and there are tables that you can stand at and listen to the music. There's even baby goats that you can pet!

Yelp
We went to a pre wedding party and loved the garden. It was a beautiful little urban oasis and we enjoyed music, comfort food and cold drinks. The strung lights make for a beautiful atmosphere. Obviously can't fault the garden, but the cab ride over from the French quarter was pretty depressing as we passed extensive tent villages under the overpasses. Besides private parties, there is a calendar of events on the website including music nights and goat yoga. We actually checked out the goat yoga as well, but I think this place shines more as a twilight evening relaxed outdoor drink venue. I would personally pick a music night over a yoga night if I did again. Note it is BYOB.

Yelp
Came across this amazing weekly event at the Paradigm Gardens this past Sunday. I had such an amazing time and can not wait for what next week brings!! As you walk into the beautiful garden your engulfed with the sounds of music and the smell of fresh flowers blooming and herbs being sold. My crawfish and spinach and cheese empanadas from Empanola were so delicious! My taste buds were yelling for more. I also tried a Mexican chocolate paleta from Bayouside Paletas, which was delightfully refreshing with its rich chocolate bites inside. My hibiscus lemonade is a new favorite and I love how it was within a mason jar. Very eco friendly and who doesn't love cups !! lol Oh I can not forget the cute goats your able to feed !! I highly recommend you check this even on Sunday !

Yelp
If you happen to be in town for a concert series dinner event, don't hesitate - just buy that ticket and get ready for a great time! Walking into the gardens is almost magical and very romantic. The chefs will rotate but the food is DELICIOUS and the live music entertainment is fantastic. The people who attend are also friendly and interesting. And don't forget the baby goat named oyster!!!

Yelp
Friends and I came to Paradigm for their Sunday Farmer's Market and we absolutely loved it! It's within an actual garden, a small/quaint space with picnic benches, and delicious bites and drinks from local small businesses. The goats are such a nice treat to see, they're extremely gentle and they let you feed them. Our next plan is to attend one of their evening concerts with wine. Such a natural, cozy, gem in the heart of an urban city.

Yelp
This farm in Central City is a magical little place. I have wanted to come to this secret garden for quite some time now and solo bought a ticket to the 504ward Restaurant Night. The weather was primo as the sun ducked down below the horizon. As you walk through the gate, citronella torches flickered around lush rows of vegetation. A DJ was spinning on a little stage in front of the Paradigm mural; a silhouette of the city tangled up in vines (lerv). Like a live Pandora, the DJ put her record sleeve up so we could see who she was playing. The jams were wonderful all night long, and every now and then I would wiggle my shoulders like a profesh salsa dancer warming up. (...a dance floor would be aMAZing). A friend of mine had met AJ, the goat, at a past event. Her close encounter left her with a bit of a haircut but the picture is priceless. AJ, and the two mini goats, Raisin and Oatmeal...enough for me to come out again. So cute. While I may have gone solo, a handful of friends were also attending, and I made some new ones in this wonderfully intimate setting. You have to leave all your cares, stress, angry thoughts on the outside of this fence. It's just too lovely to take with you inside all this green. This space would be wonderful for a first date or, as mentioned, an engagement party. Joel represented for the two owners, him and Jimmy, and was so incredibly nice, professional, and very informative. Even though things got busy at times, he was willing to chat about the possibility of maybe this lady's engagement party being in the space. While this may not be the same food that you enjoy when you go, I have got to say, it.was.amazing. The food was mostly from Ancora. I've never loved vegetables so much in my life, and the bruschetta was incredible (kisses fingers Italian-style). The also had tasty drink bevs but I was abstaining for Lent, womp womp. I can't wait to come back to this space for one of their events. The caliber of the vendors that had participated this night was quite high in my opinion, and I feel like the vendors want to be great in this space because everyone is being great. I would suggest to bring bug spray (though I think they have it there), and a light sweater, but definitely go. It's wonderful, and I have no doubt every experience will be unique and interesting in this wonderful venue.

Yelp
This place is very much my speed. Outdoors, good food and good music. I was in heaven when I visited for the first time. It was a 504ward event so they had a full spread set up for us. I was perfectly fine with the brick oven pizza but their freshly picked garden salad with that homemade honey dressing was very good as well. I loved that there were a few seating areas and room to roam. The garden is very lush and obviously very well taken care of. These guys got it right and I'm glad they made their vision come to life. You can see it all over their faces that they love what they do and what they've created. They seem more than happy to share their space with you.

Yelp
This little corner of heaven is a great spot to book a wedding reception, engagement dinner, bat mitzvah, and more. I was bedazzled by the place as soon as I stepped foot inside. Cool points to Joel (the owner) for hosting such an amazing event with a great mix of sweet and savory venues. #WeLubJoel We came here for a 504 Ward event and it was amazing. As soon as you enter the gate, you're greeted by a wide variety of vegetables growing all around you. It was a really cool sight to see. They do a pizza and pie series every Wednesday and they have events every Tuesday. This event was a casual cocktail mix and mingle; classic 504 Ward! Joel did a great job setting everything up. He had a DJ playing songs you just wanted to chacha and salsa too most of the night, he had Old New Orleans Rum making amazing mixed drinks, and he even had a wheel barrel properly representing NOLA Brewery. Good job Joel #Kuddos The food was also worth the wait. Ancora Pizzeria and I got to know each other pretty well, as I had about four servings of their delicious bruschetta. I also had a few pupusas from The Pupusa Lady, and lastly I sweetened it up with pecan pie from Windowssill Pie. Side note: I'll be buying a few of those pies for an upcoming party! All and all, this place host great events, the ambiance is a good mix, and the hosts are pretty darn funny.

Yelp
Paradigm gardens is one of our very favorite places to go. Every event that we have gone to here feels very special. The setting is unique and beautiful, and adds to the feel of the evening. The food that has always been served is some of the best I've had. The fun thing is that it is always different, with rotating chefs, and the foods they serve aren't necessarily food I would normally choose at a restaurant but I really enjoy them and it makes me try new things. There is always plenty of food too and I leave absolutely stuffed. The goat families are a bonus too, the babies are so cute I could go there just to watch them. They also do private events here, which I will definitely look in to the next time I'm planning one.

Yelp
Just went for their "plant sell". I feel like I was catfished by a business. None of the employees arrived to set it up until it was time to open, the only person that acknowledged us was the 8 yo girl at the entrance who claimed to be the manager and honey I believe her. Based off the yelp pictures and Facebook group you'd think you were at the wrong place. We left after 10 minutes of not understanding what the fuck was going on. Maybe it's just really easy to impress city people with plants but I've never been to a garden center/ farmers market with so little charm. You'd have a more enjoyable Sunday morning if you walked through Home Depot.

Yelp
Went for the garden dinner with friends. It's a beautiful and unique venue. BYOB and menu depends on the chefs hired for the event. I chose the Haitian chef - mango wings along with crab Mac n cheese. Both were okay - maybe a bit on the bland side. I would actually rate the food a 2 and the venue a 4 making the overall score a 3. Would certainly return to try other chefs.

Yelp
Great, Great, Great experience at Soul Garden with amazing chefs and delicious food!!!! I loved it, my first time and I'll definitely be back (with friends). The goats and their adorable baby girl escort are the best. I love the ENTIRE experience.

Yelp
Love this place! We found Paradigm while perusing and researching venues for our wedding in Nola. We ended up holding our Hangover Brunch here on Sunday morning. Alison was awesome in helping us set it up. She even handled finding a musician (Keenan from Tank and the Bangas) and sourcing out the food (Chef Pat from Karibu Kitchen). Although she offered to include a bar set up as well, we opted to BYOB and we set up a little brunch bar for the guests and it worked out perfectly! The food and music were both equally amazing! We loved this place so much we decided to return Wednesday night for their Pizza & Pies event. Again, the food and music were WOW! Some of the best food we had while in Nola was at this place! Mostly everything is cooked there in the wood burning oven and grill and the smoke comes through in the best possible way. Don't forget to pick up some of their local honey and head to the back corner of the farm to say hi to Aj, Oatmeal, & Raisin, the cutest and friendliest goats!

Yelp
Everyone deserves a night out at Paradigm Gardens. Its a special place hidden right in the middle of New Orleans. Paradigm reminds me why I love New Orleans. I can be in a garden watching the sunset and eating from their wood burning stove and at my house 5mins later. Its an urban escape in the city and one that I hope will continue to gain traction.
