The Biggest Denver Dining Surprises of 2018, According to Restaurant Experts | Eater Denver

"An iconic, long-running spot whose closure felt like the loss of a piece of the city's nostalgic fabric; while not necessarily a culinary catastrophe, its disappearance was widely felt as devastating." - Josie Sexton

Why a Popular Denver Restaurant Group Is Closing Its Doors | Eater Denver

"Closed over Labor Day weekend, this was the first of four neighborhood restaurants in a longtime local group that elected not to renew leases. Owners pointed to a collection of small but compounding pressures — rising minimum wages and healthcare costs, plus competition from new restaurants and delivery services — rather than any single landlord dispute. Management, led by a co-owner who began working at the restaurant as a busboy in 1995 and later ran the business, said nearly 200 employees across the group were given as much notice as possible and that efforts will be made to help staff land on their feet while celebrating the restaurant’s legacy." - Josie Sexton

Passing though this beautiful town and this coffee store was recommended by the locals. So so glad I listened. The lovely ladies here recommended the Casa Bonita late with their crunchy caramel croissant muffin. OMW!!! It was amazing. Everyone passing trough must stop!

We loved this cafe so much! Not only is it beautiful, it’s also delicious. We ordered 3 drinks (different lattes) and everyone loved them. The coffee is great quality, and the baristas were friendly. Whenever I’m back in Cheyenne this will be my go to!

Google
We were looking for a nice coffee shop and this fit the bill very well! We both had the Butter Beer coffee, (it’s not beer), and a piece the best coffee cake. Our coffee hit the spot perfectly. The atmosphere is really cool with incredible artwork and really great vibe. Highly recommend!

Google
Got a Casa Bonita, instead of cinnamon I got raspberry. And a savory bear claw with ham, cheese and fig! Great historic stop in Cheyenne, even if you’re just passing through!!

Google
Drinks are always a 10/10 - Staff is incredibly friendly - Lovely vibes all around! This is a beautiful place in Downtown Cheyenne to stop for a small Cafe bite to eat, or to grab a delicious and handcrafted drink. Don't forget about your textbooks! Studying is really fun here and easy to do if you enjoy working in public! The Hot Chocolate is quality and is probably my favorite because I stick to the basics.

Google
Absolutely loved this place. So cute and cozy and yet not cramped. Very friendly barista and they made very good drinks. Get the Mary Poppins half sweet or the honey cinnamon one.

Google
Comfortable, fun little cafe right in the middle of downtown Cheyenne. Wonderful staff. Loved the decor. The beverages were absolutely delicious! Plenty of options available here! Definitely worth stopping by to sit and relax in on a hot day!

Google
Super cute little coffee spot. I'd pick this any day over a Starbucks. I got the Mary Poppins iced and it's so good. Great pricing too! Staff is super friendly. Only thing I wish Is that they had extra large cups available lol

Yelp
It's a cute place in Cheyenne that I'd go back to. We street parked, and the entrance is a bit confusing. You can see the sign for Paramount from a distance, but the entrance is on the right side of where you think the entrance would be. Strangely enough, once you go into the cafe (the dark half), you can also go to the left section which seems to be owned by Paramount. Aside from the confusing cafe layout, the coffee shop is cute and provides good coffee. It's not the best coffee I've had, but the variety in their specialty and the well decorated location makes me want to go back. I'd happily spend hours reading or working on a project here. The service was solid and quick. There's not much to say besides how the employees did their jobs well.

Yelp
AMAZING ambiance for a coffee shop! It's only temporarily in the ballroom while they renovate the main coffee area, but it's in an old theater and there's history everywhere you look with pictures of historic Cheyenne, books, and the vintage decor. I had a seasonal caramel latte drink and it was one of the best I've had. The service was great and it's definitely worth a visit!

Yelp
I was a little confused as to what door to go in. Next door to the cafe is a restaurant also called Paramount and their door was open so I popped in but it was the wrong location. So next door under the marquee sign was a door. I went in by could not find the place to order until I walked around the corner. Lo and behold the counter. I should have used the next set of doors down that would have taken me right to the counter. After looking at the menu for a Monroe settled on a drink. Since it was cold out I ordered a hot drink. I can't remember the name of it but it had vanilla and hazelnut as the base. I made mine with oat milk. The drink came out about 5 mins later and was nice and hot. I was able to walk around the downtown area for over an hour and my drink was still hot. So many yummy sounding drinks in the menu and the food looked just as good. I will be back next time I am in Cheyenne. (SORRY NO PICS THIS TIME)

Yelp
This was a cute little place to visit while walking around downtown. I would recommend if you need to sit inside for a bit and just need to grab a bite to eat. Definitely a great stop downtown.

Yelp
Great vibe. Wonderful staff. Stopped in for some after dinner drinks. Fun was had by all...

Yelp
Lovely establishment. Can feel the vibe of the city here. Coffee was great. Superior service.

Yelp
Such a sweet place to visit! The baristas were so friendly and gave excellent drink suggestions! The place was clean and very well kept. I got the Chaga chocolate drink and it was so sweet and flavorful. I also got a Samoa coffee and that one was also pretty good! Definitely recommend stopping by!

Yelp
The drip coffee was pretty bad, it had the famous burnt coffee taste. Service was good but personally I don't really care about that when the coffee isn't good enough to finish drinking.
google avatar

Martin L.

Yelp
Very cool café, and right next to it is the coolest bar in Cheyenne called the Paramount Ballroom.
google avatar

Jennifer N.

Yelp
We come up from Denver when we need a little getaway, and coffee on their back patio is worth the drive. Great coffee, food options, service, and atmosphere.
google avatar

Christopher M.

Yelp
Good black drip coffee, and the breakfast pastry I had was good, I was in and out quickly but the ambiance seemed nice.
google avatar

Yelp
A really nice cafe in downtown Cheyenne. It is very spacious, and seems to be connected to the Paramount bar next door? Interior was kind of fun with all the Halloween decorations when we stopped by. The service was welcoming and nice. I ordered lavender latte and it was really well made. I would definitely come back here next time we come through Cheyenne.
google avatar

Renee B.

Yelp
This place is super cool! I got the chagachino. I will definitely come back. Workers were super nice.

Yelp
Prefacing with, this review is going to sound elitist of me: Specialty drinks are very sweet. I'd stick to the traditional espresso menu. Although I ordered a cappuccino, and it came out as a 16 oz. Now I like lattes, but if I wanted a latte, I would've ordered one!
google avatar

Kacie D.

Yelp
I got the iced Casa Bonita with skim milk. Yummy & unique taste, but I probably won't order it again - heavier on the honey than the cinnamon which isn't my personal favorite. I personally like a dark roast with a cozy flavor - the flavor of the espresso was very light. Lauren & Winter took care of us and they were both so sweet & personable

Yelp
Paramount Cafe is located in downtown Cheyenne, and they serve a variety of espresso based drinks as well as bubble tea. It was busy but not crowded at 12:15pm on a Saturday, and there was still plenty of seating available at that time. I tried their Vahizzle (Vanilla + Hazelnut, $4.85 + $1.40 Oat Milk), which was a good combination of flavors, and I'm glad I ordered my coffee with less pumps of syrup since it was still on the sweeter side for me. Their prices aren't bad since the cups they use are on the larger side; however, the surcharge for oat milk is one of the highest I've seen (even compared to cafes in California). I also took a sip of my friend's Mary Poppins (White Chocolate, Salted Caramel, Almond Latte, $5.55 + $1.40 Oat Milk), which was SWEET. I liked the flavors, but would definitely have to order this with less pumps of syrup. No outdoor seating was available. Parking was easy to find at the time since there were plenty of street parking spots available.

Yelp
Very cool atmosphere. So historic. Make sure to walk over and check out the state capital.!!!!

Yelp
Stopped here for an iced coffee while in for the day on business, which I found via Yelp. Location is in a downtown area, parking is slim, and shop is small. Very large ceilings, vintage-rustic-hippie vibes, all within a relatively confined area. Barista behind counter had big smile and great energy while taking my order and a small talk. There were two other baristas behind the bar and another off to the right. I continued to browse the menu and the cups they offer for sale but didn't last long cuz my drink was ready! Sadly, my iced coffee was pretty underwhelming. Too much milk, so could hardly taste the coffee. All the ice was mostly melted, and the syrup was at the bottom of cup, unstirred. A bit irritated when coffees are now $8 w a tip, and didn't drink but two sips. The 2nd was forced even!

Yelp
Come here with my husband today. We have good Sunday. We decided to drink coffee. I give 3 stars because cool atmosphere and nice workers. Coffee not good, taste like we come in 7 eleven or Dunkin' Donuts. Note good. Not recommend.
google avatar

Yelp
yes. i first went here over 2 and a half years ago and still remember the name and what i ordered. it was amazing. the atmosphere was lovely and the people were pleasantly nice.

Yelp
I stopped here on my trip across the country. Was making it a point to try coffee locally in every state. The employees were friendly. The space was very cute, especially the back patio. The coffee was a overpriced and not good. It was $14+ for mine and my mothers drinks (2). I ordered my iced coffee from their specialty menu. I should have known better and watched them make it. They automatically add milk to the iced specialty beverages which are all made with cold brew and not espresso. The ratio of milk to cold brew must have been 9:1 because I was for sure drinking what tasted like straight milk (and I ordered it half sweet) I went to the counter to pay to add a shot and the girl told me she'd just add more cold brew - which was about an inch and according to her equal to 2 shots (*face palm* there's no way that is true for what I was drinking) sadly I left disappointed, ended up tossing my drink and went to a different local spot. I hope someone finds this review helpful and possibly the business takes it as constructive criticism to make their coffee better.

Amy S.

Yelp
I love the Paramount! It always has great service and delicious coffee. This last time I got bubble tea but unlike other times the tapioca beads were extra chewy and not delightful. It's not going to stop me from patronizing, but I will definitely think twice before getting bubble tea again.

Gerel P.

Yelp
The food was very good and so was the staff. Hopefully that is enough to satisfy the Yelp people.

Katie C.

Yelp
The service was wonderful! The workers were very nice and helpful and my drink was perfect!

Yelp
great coffee drinks no matter how you have them neat little coffee shop with friendly service
google avatar

Yelp
A coffee shop in an old theater on the main street. In addition to a little outdoor patio, there is ample seating inside with lots of art all around. I had a vahizzle latte...vanilla hazelnut latte. It was better than expected and the service was prompt and friendly.
google avatar

JEREMY G.

Yelp
Only went for drinks but their cocktails are amazing. Every drink I tried was simply delicious. The Paramount also has a really great vibe that's easy for conversation.
google avatar

Yelp
Nice barista good looking funny cute kind nice clean bathroom cool artwork on the wall for sale I almost spent $150 on a piece of artwork I refrained but next time I will I really liked the sign out front I'll post a picture on the other side it said coffee but I one-sided said whiskey

Grace B.

Yelp
great vibe and energy of the space! I got a smoothie and it wasnt really what I was needing. It more tasted like juice and I could just tell it didn't have any real nutrients, i'd you're looking for a meal replacement I wouldn't get a smoothie from here. Other than that great vibe!
google avatar

Jonathan M.

Yelp
A Cafe you go for the atmosphere, not for the coffee. If you're looking for well roasted, high quality coffee, try somewhere else. But if you're looking for a unique place to study or chat, and a sweet coffee to cover the "coffee" taste, then this is your place. Service was friendly though. I personally gave it 3 stars because I prioritize the quality of coffee in a cafe over ambiance.
google avatar

Brittney R.

Yelp
Friendly & kind staff Great coffee & neat location. Would stop in whenever in Cheyenne
google avatar

Taylor Marie B.

Yelp
I LOVE the paramount! I could go there every single day. I've recently cut out meat and dairy but haven't had to change my paramount order, I just sub for oat milk and it's just as delicious. I always get an iced caramelicous, my husband gets a hot vahizzle, and we split a cinnamon roll. The service is perfect, they're always so sweet and accommodating. I wish it was bigger because it's deservingly popular so seating goes quickly on the weekend. I love when the weather is nice and we can sit outside and bring the pups!
google avatar

Yelp
We dined here after our show at the Atlas Theatre. Such a wonderfully historic area. The food and drinks were priced well. They were also very tasty and served in such an appealing manner.

Yelp
Located a few blocks from the State Capitol building on the main street of Cheyenne, Paramount dishes out their caffeine. It's a neat little spot with a few high top tables, some comfy low tops and no green siren women. I had a simple latte with hazelnut. It was hot, the foam was seriously solid (I needed a spoon!) and the coffee was excellent. A really terrific wake-me-up! Great spot. A few folks were there with their dogs, too!
google avatar

Yelp
Good coffee in a cool building in downtown Cheyenne. this coffee shop is the epitome of cool. The baristas are friendly and knowledgeable, crafting each cup with precision and care. Whether you're a coffee aficionado or simply seeking a trendy spot to unwind, this downtown gem is a must-visit. Sit back, sip your favorite brew, and soak in the vibrant atmosphere of this downtown coffee sanctuary

Yelp
This cafe is clearly one of the coolest places to hang out in Cheyenne. They have an innovative menu and a hip yet retro feel. From the old placard outside and decor inside, you can tell this space was an old movie theater. (In fact, the building has a few different uses, including an event space upstairs.) Both lattes we got were a bit too sweet but definitely unique. Our order included the Mary Poppins and Butter Beer. Maybe there's a way to make them less sweet next time. Definitely check it out!
google avatar

Ashleigh E.

Yelp
Stopped at the cutest little coffee shop passing through Cheyenne. Looks like an old movie theater with hilarious signage and the most friendly staff! Our 10 month old baby kicked over the table (yes I know, super baby amiright!?) and spilled my husbands drink all over the floor. The staff cleaned it up and made him a new drink, which they certainly didn't have to do but went above and beyond to take care of us! I'm not normally a cold coffee person but mid-heat wave I needed something cold. The barista recommended a frappe style mocha but with hot espresso shots to taste the coffee- oh my gosh perfection! My husband got the casa Bonita iced and my son got the casa Bonita frappe style. We also got blueberry muffins and the vegetarian breakfast burrito, both excellent! Food and drink were extra great but the staff really set this place apart from most any other coffee shop we've been to!
google avatar

Yelp
Charming coffee shop with homemade treats to go alongside your drink of choice. Friendly staff in a historic part of town. Stay awhile and take in the charm or take it to go and stroll around the downtown.

Yelp
Great little coffee oasis in the middle of WY. Friendly staff, good coffee and some nice pastries. Outside seating was great and big murals on the walls out there.
google avatar

Nicole H.

Yelp
This place is an adorable hidden gem!!!! I went to Phoenix books across the street but it was closed. Walked across and saw here - decided to try it. Walked in and was amazed. This place is adorable. Lots of seating! It's in a historical building so I had great wood paneling and hardwoood floors. Staff are very friendly. As someone passing through from the Midwest, folks tend to talk about how WY does t have anything. Well, they are wrong! This place would fit in with any big city!
google avatar

JoJo N.

Yelp
I stopped by here several months ago to study with a friend. Well honestly, the main reason we decided to check this place out is that we were looking to get our boba needs satiated. I'll be honest, I wasn't expecting too much from bubble tea in Wyoming. I'd have to say that it was on par with my expectations. The boba quality was not the best as it was not very firm. The drink itself was nothing special. I tried my friend's drink, and it was also just okay. If I'm ever back in town, I'd probably try something else as I realize that I shouldn't solely judge a place based on just one of their menu items. The atmosphere of the place itself was really nice, and I appreciated that they were enforcing COVID guidelines. I'd go back to try their coffee, but their bubble tea was just not for me.
google avatar

Yelp
Have come here several times when in Cheyenne. Really impressed with the friendly staff and quick service. Tried the Mary poppins latte and it was so good!

Yelp
Cool place to have a coffee shop, coffee was decent - very fast service. Got an iced americano.

Yelp
What a lovely find! You cannot miss the marquee outside this establishment that invites you to enjoy their coffee on the outdoor patio. Directly inside you will discover dark wood paneling and an open, but intimate seating area. What's really unique is the service area that reminds me of a small ticket office in a train station - the historic kind. The barista was super personable (and pretty darn cute). He explained that you could also order adult beverages from the Paramount Ballroom side just across the hall. My caffe latte was delicious and served in a ceramic cup, so I was able to reduce my carbon footprint. I was also super happy to be able to pay with my phone using their contactless system. On my way out, I noticed the café's "pay it forward" board. It warmed my heart to see that you could purchase a beverage or snack on behalf of a Cheyenne local or any person passing through. Many of the pre-paid coffees have been made available to persons serving in the military. I hope more people will offer them to anyone who may need a little love or assistance. This is what community is all about. :) For any trip to or through Cheyenne, the Paramount Cafe is a must-stop destination. (Read other marvelous reviews to confirm.)

Yelp
I wish I had a place like this back home! I stopped by one Friday morning while traveling from California to Massachusetts, and I'm so glad that I did! The place as a whole is so darn cute, both on the inside and out. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. They even let me borrow a pen to fill out the postcards I needed to send. I loved the ambiance, and I liked that there was a wide variety of clientele who visited while I was there. It's great that they offer a communal creative space, and I thought it was even more great that local art is showcased as well. The outdoor seating in the back was probably my favorite spot because of how well it's decorated to look inviting and cozy. If I lived in the area, I'd definitely come here to get some work done or to read a book in the outdoor seating area. To top it all off, the murals on the sides of the buildings are so beautiful! I'd definitely recommend paying this quaint cafe a visit if you're in the area!

Yelp
Everything was great, EXCePT the 25 min wait...ugh. I understand it's hard to hire employees these days, I just wish they could have told me how long the wait was when I placed my order!

Yelp
Found this gem of a coffee shop on a recent trip to Cheyenne, I'm pretty sure I went 3 days in a row. Cold brew was fantastic and everyone was friendly
