The Best Restaurants in Astoria

"This three-year-old restaurant is a narrow phantasmagoria of Colombian delights. The glass counter at the foyer leading to the dining area holds extra-large, freshly baked pastries like the almojabanas (cheese bread balls), arepa de choclo (sweet corn cakes), and a pan de yuca that’s the size of a human head and has a soft, glutinous texture." - Eater Staff

Established in 2021 and located on 30th Avenue in Astoria, this narrow local bakery offers a variety of Colombian delights and was luckily open on Christmas, when my cousin and I came for lunch as first-timers. Upon entering, the Parceros Bakery II was already hopping with patrons enjoying their meal, with only 2 tables left. We were greeted by the staff and sat in the back. The interior was clean and colorful, with Christmas decor and festive music playing. Their menu is posted on the wall with typical baked items such as pan de jamon y queso, arepa de chocolo, or a good selection of hot food, i.e., chorizo, empanadas, tamales, and chicharon. Their popular selections are beef empanadas, baked chicken, and assorted soups. We decided on carne molida (ground beef) accompanied by yellow rice and boiled potato, as well as their Tamal Tolimense accompanied by a small arepa quenching with Colombian soda. I opted for one chicken and one beef empanada to go. The meal arrived hot and full of flavor, and the portions were generous. However, the arepas were served cold and hard. The food was authentic, delicious, and fairly priced. The service was good and friendly. We could recommend this place.

Everything is always on point here. For months now, I often sit here between local client appointments and notice that the smiles and service is consistent with all the different walks of life that walk through the door. Traditional Colombian fanfare, always delicious, always fresh. From the baked goods to the a la carte food as well as the daily already prepared lunch menu, all always on point!

I ordered the chicken soup, it was more like potato soup & needed salt. I’m still looking for the chicken.

My waitress did not understand English so it was hard for us to communicate however she did get my order right in the order was good. I ordered the chorizo sausage and eggs with cheese toast they didn't have toast though I had a croissant. The waitress told me that they didn't have butter. And then 5 minutes later she brought me butter. But otherwise the place was really good I would suggest that you eat here I enjoyed it!

Google
Small but stretched place. Good coffee, excellent baking goods, very nice service. You might find are really authentic colombian sprit. Just try to avoid boñulos - this is not what it should be.

4.5 stars. Happened to walk by today while doing groceries and saw this new Colombian bakery had opened up. Found out their grand opening was just on March 4th but the place is already hopping. I saw quite a few people coming in and out to grab lunch to go. The interior is very clean and colorful. They have all the typical baked items like almojabanas, pan de jamon y queso, arepa de chocolo and they also sell whole cakes and by the slice. One thing that really stood out to me was the size of these pastries, they were huge! And they also have quite a good selection of hot food. Chorizo, empanadas, tamales, chicharon...just to name a few. I ended up ordering Pollo Al horno (baked chicken leg) which comes with rice and salad. The chicken was so flavorful and most. Was really happy eating this. This place is a wonderful addition to the neighborhood and it's now part of my roster of places to eat in Astoria.

Yelp
Ate here today for lunch by myself during my lunch break while working full time and across the street as a teacher assistant at The 30th Avenue School (Q300). I had brought and ate the pork chop over bean rice. It was great and delicious. The service there was also fast, quick and attentive that I didn't feel rushed about what to choose a dish to try for the first time. I couldn't agree more. Finally, I would definitely eat and come back again next time! :)

Yelp
I was waiting for a bus when I saw this bakery behind me. I haven't had empanadas in a while so I decided to grab one beer and one chicken to go for a snack. The beef empanada had more flavor to it but both were good and had some potato in it too.

Yelp
Welcome to 30th Avenue! This is the cutest little Colombian bakery right off the 30th Avenue station on N/W subway in Queens that opened earlier this year. The staff is super friendly and the bakery items/fresh juices are delicious. I come here at least 3 times a week. I always see people sitting inside eating their lunch menu so I'll have to give that a try this weekend.

Yelp
So I gave this bakery a second chance and I got disappointed once again. The first time I ate bbq ribs with rice, and the ribs were old, almost dried out. I had to throw away the whole plate which was almost $15. Today, I ordered 1 empanada which had no flavor, and I also ordered an arepa con queso which supposedly the lady who works there, warmed it up and it when I try to eat it, it was hard as a rock! Never coming back again!!

Yelp
The food was bad They refuse to make them the food like the way I wanted it. My instructions are very simple and they refuse to remake my food. The food was not good at all.

Yelp
Kind and friendly service. Pan de bono are good, slightly drier than some others but definitely good. #10 Arepa Parceros, Arepa with eggs, tomato, onions was great. Very fresh, would definitely return.

Yelp
I went here for breakfast and it was good. The chiccaron was the best I've had from a Colombian restaurant and the chorizo was good. The empanadas could be better. The service was perfect and the price was fair considering all the food we got. I would definitely go again.

Yelp
The ladies who assist customers at the window are friendly. I enjoy visiting to grab a coffee and a pan de queso. I also liked the hot food here. I had ordered a chicken and yellow rice dish. It was enough for two meals and so good. It had nice flavor! It was packed inside so I couldn't sit down, but I am happy to see a brand new business full of people enjoying the cafe. That makes my heart happy!!!

Yelp
I first discovered Parceros while looking for some iced coffee in the neighborhood. I'm so glad I tried the version here, which is next-level. While ordering Parceros' delicious, rich cafe frio, I noticed the wide variety of pastries, breakfast, and lunch options available in the bakery, and decided to come back with my partner for some breakfast. We ordered desayunos #2 and #4 (mine was #4). The scrambled eggs + rice and beans, all made with a savory, tomato-based sauce, were excellent. I wouldn't, though, recommend the cheese arepa that came with with my order. It tasted stale. It's possible that that is how it's supposed to taste, but I didn't enjoy it. Anyway, the overall review is positive. Looking forward to trying some lunch or pastries next time!

Yelp
I just returned from a new Colombian bakery which just opened up a week or so ago.Called Paceros Bakery II, they are located right next door to Petey's. This is their second location. They original Paceros is based in Rego Park/Woodhaven Blvd. They have some delicious cakes, pastries, baked goods and the bakery has a very friendly family atmosphere, with tables and seating. They are worth a visit. I recommend a mean slice of caramel and vanilla iced cake. Price is $3.50 for one slice. One area that needs improvement, is that baked goods such as a fluffy cake need to stored in a plastic container, not a paper bag when being handed to the customer. I had to head into the city and the cake was pretty crushed by the time I arrived time. Management should take a look at how other established bakeries in the area handle takeout, providing them with plastic containers, not paper bags.

Yelp
Disclaimer: review solely on bakery items. I've had from this place a few times & each time they disappoint. Its either the buñuelos are too dry, extremely dense &/ the proper ingredients aren't used to make them. The empanadas are sometimes insipid, filling is mush or you at times get chunks of just potatoes when you order a meat selection. The Aborrajado (fried plantain with guava & cheese filling) is dull. The ratio between filling & crust is too extreme, you're paying more for plantains than anything else. This snack is made with riped plantains but here in la la land Parceros you'll get the unriped, green versión. Coffee is nothing to write about. You're better off going to any cart guy. All being said, this place can still make it. They have potential. Management & staff need to revisit training inorder to get these staple foods right.

Yelp
Their almojabanas, arepa con queso, Colombian breakfast is sooo tasty. The people that work there are also very welcoming and don't rush you while you're trying to order. Will definitely be my go-to.

Yelp
Parceros is an amazing addition to Astoria! I love the Chocoflan, cono de Arequipe (their dulce de leche is outstanding), arepas de choclo, and any pastry with guava. I'm looking forward to trying the items on their lunch menu, which also look delicious.

Yelp
Best Almojábana I've had so far. Grab a coffee as well and your day is off to a great start.
