Birds of Paradise, From the Scene-Stealing Cocktail Team Behind Blossom Bar, Opens in Brighton | Eater Boston

"A renowned mezcal bar in Guadalajara, Mexico that made a strong impression on visiting bartenders — so much so that they named a martini after it and described it as the kind of place they wanted to be every night — and which served as a direct inspiration for cocktails and ingredient choices brought back to Boston." - Erika Adams

"One ofGuadalajara’s hippest bars stocks an awesome collection of agave-based spirits, with a focus on mezcal. In fact, its full name, Pare de Sufrir Tome Mezcal, means “to end suffering, drink mezcal.” Although it’s tucked away on a quiet street in Colonia Americana, the bar bursts with bright murals, string lights, and the sound of live bands or DJs playing everything from cumbia to rockabilly. Owner Pedro Jiménez Gurría also runs a local nonprofit called Mezonte, which promotes small producers making agave-based spirits in the traditional style."

The 30 Best Restaurants in Guadalajara, Mexico | Eater

"This mezcaleria serves enough antojitos to fuel an evening of agave spirits. That means fun, clever bites like a beef cheeks lonche, beef tongue en su jugo (in its juices), mini tortas ahogadas, and al pastor sweetbread tacos. Chat up owner Pedro Jiménez and go deep on raicillas from his own brand, Mezonte, a nongovernmental organization that supports famed master distillers like Lorenzo and Tomás Virgen and Jorge Pérez, as well as small-batch mezcal producers like Rodolfo Ramos, Moises Esparza, and Jesus Peña. Make sure you read the reviews of this place first so you know what to expect. I thought it was a mezcal tasting room. Maybe that was just me not paying attention but it’s not that at all. They have great mezcal that you can taste but this is a local sort of dive bar. Great drinks that are affordable but very basic. The bartender told me they serve shots of mezcal when I asked for a margarita. He was so friendly and helpful and made me feel very welcome when I got there. The place is very small and loud but everyone is having a good time, i got there early so I was able to get a spot at the bar. I came back around midnight and there was a huge line. Overall good spot and would recommend if you’re feeling like a party. If you want to sip a drink and chill this is not the place.

This place is badass! A bartender recommended it to me, and I was told it’s where they all head after their shifts—and now I see why. The music was on point (lots of cumbias), the place was packed with people dancing, and the bartenders couldn’t have been cooler. Definitely one of those spots you don’t want to miss.

just try it. their menu is EXTENSIVE. you can come and enjoy multiple spirits from the region. raicilla, mezcal, tequila. sunday is pretty chill with little crowd if thats what you prefer. expect a queue all other days. do yourself a favor and get a bite to eat. you will not be disappointed. you will also need it after all the delicious spirits you will be having.

Best mezcaleria in Guadalajara and it's no secret the place is always packed. DJ's spin Cumbia and bands play regularly. Mostly Mezcales and Raicillas from the states of Jalisco and Michoacan but they got other gems too.

When in Guadalajara, this is a mandatory visit, their knowledge about mezcal along with the tunes makes it the best place to have a good time, chingón!

Tiny spot that is absolutely packed with people dancing, drinking pacificos and mezcal shots on the dance floor, while every so often screaming out for the bartenders to drop everything to spin the mirror ball. One of a kind place, definitely worth a visit -- for the dancing, and especially the mezcal.

Amazing music! The atmosphere is very chill and the people are very nice. It is small and if you have the attitude you'll find enough space to dance! A most Go if you are visiting Guadalajara City!

Very fun bar for drinks and dancing. Great selection of mezcals and the atmosphere, music, and people are all great. Everyone is always dancing and having a good time, well done by the owners to have this type of environment
