I was very unimpressed with this place for a few reasons. We were a party of 6, three different couples. We asked up front about splitting the check at the end and it could only be done even split, up to four ways. I get why these policies exist, since splitting checks is a huge pain, especially when you're slammed. But the flipside of that is a diminished customer experience. If not everyone at the table knows each other that well, it can get awkward trying to Venmo each other, etc... and then it creates the weird issue of who's ordering what, and is what they're ordering more expensive, etc...
That is just a policy though and it is what it is. Main issues were with service and food quality.
Right from the get-go I did not get a warm feeling from our server. I felt more that we were inconveniencing him, and that they were doing us a favor by having us. Totally normal, basic questions were met with short terse answers. There was no engagement socially, and no connection whatsoever.
The food was very expensive given the quality and portions. I expect food to be expensive in these high-rent neighborhoods, but I found the prices here to be ludicrous. This could be justified if the food was amazing but it was not. I got the mortadella melt and the bread was straight up burnt on all sides. Not toasted, just burnt - black and bitter. Strangely, despite the fact that my burnt sandwich must have come off a very hot flat top, it was cold on arrival. The catfish bites tasted completely unseasoned, were pretty cold on arrival and were not very appealing. The $7 bread plate was hilariously small and sad for $7. Collard greens actually had a really nice flavor, but were swimming in a soup cup of their own liquid, and once I had drained some of the liquid out I was able to see just how miniscule that portion also was.
I won't ever be back. No value here, and after the food, it was the indifferent service and the check splitting policy left the second bad taste in my mouth. Lots of options in Seattle, no one owes it to you to frequent your establishment.
