Parker’s on Ponce, nestled in the old Mick’s spot in downtown Decatur, has been a family favorite for nearly 20 years, especially for my mom. This underrated gem holds its own against Atlanta heavyweights like Bones, Marcel, McKendrick’s, and Capital Grille, offering exceptional steaks with a cozy, old-school vibe. Parker’s is just not as well known.
My prime ribeye was cooked to perfection - juicy, flavorful, and a standout. The kitchen’s creativity shines through with high-quality ingredients and unique dishes, complemented by a solid adult beverage menu and great weekday bar specials (we had half-priced Gin cocktails at our Thursday visit!).
The service is a highlight - Danny, our waiter for 17 years, consistently delivers warmth and attentiveness that make every visit special. The Scott family, who own Parker’s, are deeply tied to Decatur’s community, adding a personal touch to this family-run steakhouse. The ambiance, with its fireplaces and live piano, feels both classy and welcoming.
One downside: parking can be tricky. Expect to pay $10 for the parking behind the restaurant (not their fault, just downtown Decatur). Still, the experience is worth it. If you’re after top-tier steaks, creative recipes, and stellar service, Parker’s is a must-visit.
