Google
The best spot to get my sunday bar b que needs. From top quality meat to adult curated beverages "alcohol". I've came been coming here for years

When I walk into to Parkside. I'm usually greeted with a courteous hello. I buy sandwiches from this market regularly and am always satisfied with fresh tastes and delicious flavors that come from the sandwiches. The menu of sandwiches is also big with many to choose from. They have a wide selection of chips on the shelf. They also have a wide selection of alcohol. FYI: Door dash delivers from this market in case you want a sandwich, snacks or something to drink from afar- delivered. I highly recommend trying a sandwich from this place.

Google
The BEST Deli Sandwich I have ever had!! If you are in San Fran make your way to these guys you will not be dissapointed.

Google
Visiting the area; friends told my brother and I that we had to try the sandwiches from this place. I got Escape from Alcatraz, my brother got Crossing the Bay, and they were both amazing! The staff is also super friendly here!

Google
I don’t get the hype. I asked for a Turkey sammie with the works. Most of the sandwich was dry bread (lopsided) and the toppings were and meat were so so so bland. I was so excited to try it after seeing the reviews and am incredibly underwhelmed. Boring sammie for $13. Def won’t come here again. 2 stars cause the shop guy was nice.

Miss these sandwiches!! Truly the best

Google
One of the best sandwiches I've ever had! Only been living in the neighborhood for a week and I've already gone twice! Cool little market too, has plenty of groceries and household items. Definitely recommend coming and grabbing a bite to eat. You will not be disappointed!

Yelp
I got the Parkside Special, and well, the Parkside (Market) is special :") I love a good corner store deli and for a warm day a nice fresh sandwich is perfect - in particular, honey turkey, jalapeños, garlic spread, pepper jack, basil pesto, spicy mayo all on a toasted Dutch crunch roll. I will say the pesto was quite subtle but with everything else, there was no shortage of flavor. Made fresh and reasonably priced - thankful for a still-standing neighborhood gem!

Yelp
I tried Parkside for the first time today and had a disappointing experience. First, I tried using their online order system that they provide on their direct website. When I went to the store to pick up my order, they said they had not received the order. So I placed the order again in-person for a veggie sandwich. When I got home, I realized several ingredients were missing from it, including avocado, yet I was charged the full amount (over $12). I called to clarify and the same person I ordered from picked up - he said they were out of avocado today. It was odd that he did not inform me of this when I ordered in person. There was also no offer to make it right or refund me. The sandwich was pretty lackluster without the missing ingredients and I find it bizarre they would've just gone ahead and made the sandwich and charged me the full amount without at least informing me.

Yelp
Great neighborhood, with some of the best customer service in the City! Always clean and open late.

Dee J.

Yelp
Food: Speacial was OK, not worth 17$ and they also gave me the wrong bread. I'll go somewhere else.

Garrett L.

Yelp
Huge, quality sandwiches for a great value. I got the City Boy (roast beef with BBQ sauce) with everything on it, and they did not skimp on the toppings to the point where they were overflowing from the bread. A bit messy, but the best things in life often are. I also appreciate how they include avocado in their sandwiches at no extra charge, which is rare in SF. All this for $10.99 before tax, which will fill you up for one meal and could even make two meals if you're not too hungry. I called ahead to place an order, and it was ready in 10 minutes after calling. I originally asked about the Dirty South sandwich from a previous menu, and the man who answered said he could try to make it even though it wasn't on the menu. It turns out he wasn't able to because they don't have brisket anymore, but it was a nice gesture for him to even consider making something that wasn't on the menu.

Tianna F.

Yelp
The man at the register was very patient and helped me with my dietary restrictions and recommended the #19 the California sandwich it was delicious. The staff was very nice. I wrote rescinded coming here to try them out

Sue K.

Yelp
When you have an irresistible hankering for a hearty sandwich, this place definitely fits the bill! Like many other corner stores in the area, Parkside has its own deli and market. The market is clean and well-organized, and has a decent variety of drinks and snacks. I ordered the chicken pesto sandwich with all the fixings on Dutch crunch ($10.99) -- simple but satisfying. Chicken was juicy, but the basil pesto flavor was a bit subtle. Lots of specialty sandwiches to choose from the menu, or you can customize your order. Would highly recommend calling in at least 10 minutes before to place your order, especially during the lunch rush.

Yelp
I'm a snobby with food, not proud of that but it's the truth. I didn't think I'd like a sandwich from a corner store because of past experience at other stores. I was so wrong. This place is so good. AMAZING sandwich and wonderful employees. I got the park side special and it was stunning.

Brittany K.

Yelp
I got the Hayes and Lyon on Dutch crunch, and it was everything I could have hoped for! A big sandwich for a fair price! It comes on your choice of bread with turkey, ham, cheese, and avocado. I got mine with "everything" -- tomato, lettuce, onion, pickles, pickled jalapeño. It was super fresh and I can't wait to come try more!

John M.

Yelp
Service is exceptional, sandwiches are so yummy and they have lots of drinks to choose from as well as a good selection of alcohol. We got the Parkside Special and a sandwich not on the menu yet, the Philly Cheesesteak. Both very yummy!! I enjoyed the Bolliwood music, my booty was shakin' immediately!

Gerard Y.

Yelp
I was running errands around the area today and wanted to get a sandwich since I was hungry. I went in looking for the Double Trouble since that one looked tasty from the pics on Yelp but was told it was now called "94117". I ordered it on dutch crunch and it was ready in about 10 minutes. I walked over to The Parkside and sat on a bench outside to enjoy the sandwich. The Dutch crunch bread was warm and soft. Plenty of turkey, bacon, and pepperoncinis, etc in the sandwich. Pretty good value for the price and was full.

Denise C.

Yelp
Parkside Market is a non-descript corner store on Hayes near Baker, but Hayes has several corner stores. This one has sandwiches and today I decided to try a sandwich here. You know me and sandwiches. I opted for tuna today and it came on a french bread roll with veggies and some sauce that I picked like bbq and hot sauce. The guy working here was nice and friendly. I also got some drinks and snacks. San Francisco is full of corner stores and you know I like to try them and play with the corner store.

Andrea A.

Yelp
Might be the best sandwich I've had in quite a while. Located in an unassuming market, I ordered the Parkside Special. I got everything on it, which seemed like onions, jalapeños, peppers, tomato, lettuce, onion, bacon, turkey, and some kind of sauce on a Dutch crunch roll. Idk, I'm probably missing some things but damn this sandwich was good. It was also huge. It was just one guy working and it takes time to craft these sandwiches. I ended up waiting about 10-15 minutes as he was already making sandwiches for someone else when I arrived. Worth the wait.

Rob M.

Yelp
Excellent service, food, layout, very clean. Just enjoyed a delicious meatball sub. Good grocery selection too. Will be back again soon for another treat.

William L.

Yelp
Against my better judgment I came back. Bleh... smaller sandwiches that taste stale. Place has gone downhill but so have all other sandwich places in the area. Another part of SF going downhill.

Priyanka A.

Yelp
Parkside is my go to spot for a good sandwich. It's inside of a corner market, so my expectations were pretty low the first time I went. However, I've become a repeat customer and have enjoyed my sandwiches each time I go. I typically get the Parkside special, and it's always been great. The portion size is pretty big, so I typically can only eat half at one time. I've also been able to take the sandwiches on hiking trips, and they don't get soggy and keep well even overnight. I've gone in store and also ordered online for a pickup, and both systems are pretty easy and seamless. It's really close to the Panhandle and Alamo Square parks, so while they don't have seating inside, I sometimes pick up sandwiches for a picnic from there as well.

David Z.

Yelp
An excellent hole-in-the-wall spot for Dutch Crunch sandwiches! Very quick service, a nice local neighborhood feeling storefront, and one of my favorite sandwiches in the city.

Ashwin P.

Yelp
The people who work here are always really nice, and the sandwiches are amazing. I really enjoy stopping by here to grab a sandwich then finding a nice spot to enjoy the delicacy at Golden Gate Park (which is closeby this corner store)

Nathanial T.

Yelp
Howdy folks. How's everyone on Planet Yelp doing? You know every now and then I stumble across a business that leaves such a groovy impression on me that I continue to keep coming back. So every time I find myself in San Francisco, which is my favorite California city, I always make it a point to head over to the Parkside Market. You may ask why? Well, lets dive right into this review and find out why. Parkside Market is a very special place. Located right on the corner of Hayes and Lyon Streets, this neighborhood market is a jewel all of it's own. Probably the first thing you'll notice is the artwork painted on the side of the building. There is a mural with painted images of the family that runs the store. As an admirer of art this caught my attention right away. I think that presents a nice welcoming touch. I've been going to this place for more the twenty years and I've always seen the same people working there. They are always friendly and helpful. I don't know how to fully explain it, but there is a certain vibe about the place that emits groovy energy. Maybe that's why the staff there is so nice. I remember the first time I ever stepped foot inside of the Parkside Market. It was back in good ol' 1998. I was visiting my friend who lived nearby on Hayes Street. I walked over to the Parkside Market because I really wanted an It's It. For anyone who is not familiar with what an It's It is, you got to try one if you ever come to San Francisco. These things are so ono. Anyways, back to the Parkside Market. I like how everything in the store is so close together and organized. But not so close that you have to squeeze your way through the aisles. For a small neighborhood market they have everything that you could possibly want. Their selection is better than most supermarkets and that is really saying something. For example, they have the It's It that I love. That is the cappuccino flavor which for some reason is very difficult to find. But they have it here at the Parkside Market along with a great selection of food and household items. So I think I'll wrap this review up by saying that if you ever find yourself in the city by the bay and you have a craving for a cappuccino flavored It's It, or anything else for that matter, I highly suggest that you head on over to the Parkside Market. You won't be disappointed. If you are, there's always the long lines and hassle that is Safeway. And make sure to take a moment to check out to groovy mural on the side of the building. Until next time may the Yelp reviews be groovy. Happy trails. Nasty Nathanial

Yelp
Great sandwich and friendly staff. It's a well stocked corner store in a quiet neighborhood. I came here after riding my bike through Golden Gate Park and needed lunch. The sandwiches are traditional large San Francisco style sandwiches. The menu is huge! They charge a huge premium for credit cards and the ATM on site was broke.

Marc B.

Yelp
The Darlicious was great! They were out of bacon, so I chose prosciutto instead. The sandwich was amazing, served on dutch crunch bread with sriracha mayo! Turkey (salsa/pepper?)-Havarti-avocado-prosciutto... yum! They can also put on any other toppings you want... think I got tomatoes too. Plenty of sandwich! Tons of different sandwich choices, all listed on the wall. Lived up to the Yelp expectations and other recommendations! Rumor from the owner's Uncle is that they're planning to re-do the market a bit... make it nicer, better refrigeration system, etc.

Patrick S.

Yelp
I've tried four different sandwiches from here at this point: Parkside Special, Veggie Delight, Buffalo Ranch, and Crossing the Bay. They've all been great! This place is legit. Recommended.

Felix V.

Yelp
She took cash from the person in front of me, ( a ton of old 1 dollar bills), then continued making my sandwich with the same gloves on. No washing. It wasn't the regular person who makes sandwiches, but lately, it's been a different person every time.

Matt R.

Yelp
Had the best experience here! We walked in looking for dutch crunch sandwiches and were greeted with a smile and the friendliest service. Sandwich was very tasty and the team at Parkside could not have been nicer! Strong recommend!

Nilda N.

Yelp
We used to LOVE this spot for its sandwiches - they were THE best! We ordered sandwiches today, picked it up (we didn't see the regulars that worked there but didn't think too much of it), but when began to eat - we immediately could tell something was different. These were not the sandwiches we've been getting. Putting two and two together, we thought maybe the management changed. Called to confirm & that ended up being the case. I'm so bummed the original owners are gone - I had no idea! Now while I'd love to support the new owners, it's going to be a high bar to meet. The sandwich barely had any meat in it. Mine had 1 slice of avocado in the entire sandwich. The others weren't thrilled with their sandwiches either for same/similar reasons. Hopefully they improve but looks like we'll be looking for a new spot in the meantime.

Victor L.

Yelp
One year later and it's worth another review and still 5 stars! This place doesn't get enough credit compared to some of the other popular sandwich places in SF. If you're looking for a reasonably priced, fast service and great sandwich near GGP this is your spot!

Shelby S.

Yelp
I picked up lunch here and was so impressed. I ordered the parkside special and it was huge, but so yummy. The Dutch crunch roll is to die for. I dug into the sandwich so quick that I couldn't get a photo. This might be one of the best sandwich places I've been to and I can't wait to be in SF to go again!

Sierra S.

Yelp
Parkside market is a great spot for to-go sandwiches for a nice picnic or day boating. I love the Dutch crunch rolls - the bread is just delicious. The meats are fresh and lots of good sauces! They also sell beers and other drinks, making it a go to spot before a picnic.

Elizabeth R.

Yelp
Best Corner Store in SF. Great Sammies. Good Beer. The best customer service and a neighborhood institution. This is the Tina Turner of Bodega's. Simply the Best!

Tanner J.

Yelp
Their sandwiches are the bomb!!! "The City Boy" is my favorite. This is a mom and pop corner shop, and they are wonderful people who tame time. You can taste the love in the sandwiches.

Todd W.

Yelp
Truly one of the best sandwiches in SF, and that's saying something. I recommend calling ahead, and I love how packed every sandwich is--enough for two meals!

Sara P.

Yelp
BEST SANDWICH IN TOWN. such great food and service every time, does not disappoint. I always get the falafel wrap and my bf gets the city girl.

Claudia G.

Yelp
Absolutely delicious! We had the honor of having Big J make our San FranPsycho and I must say it's the best sandwich I have ever had. Very kind, will definitely come back when in SF

Brandon H.

Yelp
Each sandwich took 10 minutes to make which is crazy but the quality is so good and the ingredients are so fresh for the price I would still give this place 5 stars. The man at the counter was super friendly too. I was in San Francisco for just the weekend and I went to this spot every morning for three days because it was so good. The bread is amazing, I tried Dutch Crunch and the soft roll, both 10/10. So much meat is put into the sandwich along with a great portion of fresh vegetables with sour and spicy pickles that go perfectly with Mayo, chipotle, or vinaigrette. Also avocado is added without extra cost. You have to try this place, right next to the park too, a perfect place to enjoy!

Kristine H.

Yelp
Got the Parkside Special and it turned out to be the best sandwich I've ever had! I had a hard time choosing because all the sandwiches on the menu sounded delicious, but I'll be back to try them all! They also have a good selection of chips, drinks, and ice cream/cold treats. It's only a block from the Panhandle, so it's perfect for grabbing snacks and eating at the park.

Diana C.

Yelp
Great little deli market with delicious sandwiches! I'm partial to their "Honey Baked" sandwich in particular (add honey mustard) though it might not be the most exciting thing on the menu. Absolutely love their Dutch Crunch bread - so crunchy and delicious. They're also very generous with their meat portions and their ingredients all taste yummy and fresh. If you don't mind waiting for your sandwich, this is definitely worth it! Otherwise, you can call in advance, too to have your sandwich made before you get there. Side note: they also had some pretty interesting kettle chip flavors there when I went (Tues Feb 27, 2018) like Fiery Thai and Korean BBQ.

Chris C.

Yelp
Found Parkside a while back (don't remember when) on yelp and added it to my list. Finally decided to head there this morning and dragged my flat mate along. This place is a sandwich shop (Deli) inside a convenience store. No seating in case you're wondering. I got the SF Psych on Dutch runch as it was highly suggested on here and man, it did not disappoint. So much meat. A right balance of sauce, condiments, and meat. Probably the best sandwich I've had in months. And the roll was excellent. Crunchy but not hard, with just enough pull. The price is also very nice. As of the day of this review, 10.xx for a sammish. Solid portion too. I will say this tho, some of the employees can be a bit rough around the edges. It's not bad, or unprofessional but honestly, it's quite borderline. All in all, 10:10 would recommend. I will make my way there again very soon.

Liza H.

Yelp
I got the falafel sandwich and was fairly disappointed. The sandwich was soggy and not very tasty. However the man who made it was very friendly, so I enjoyed the service.

Rod M.

Yelp
I'm not in this neck of the woods of SF very often but I decided to grab a sandwich based on reviews. I grabbed a Sf psych??? ( thanks fellow yelpers) On Dutch crunch with everything on it and it was delicious. If you are in a rush this place probably isn't for you as the owner takes his time to make your sandwich ( which is good by me). He's been at this location since 1981 and I enjoyed talking to him about the shop and the city in general. If I lived or worked nearby there is no doubt I'd be here often.

Victor G.

Yelp
First time in this place. Ordered a SF Psycho because I saw the pictures and thought it sound good. My sandwich had no garlic spread, no tapenade, no Gouda and little bacon. It tasted alright but wasn't complete. Sad as the reviews were so high for this place. I won't be returning.

Amanda S.

Yelp
I LOVE sandwiches, and let me tell you, these sandwiches are the freaking best. Thin sliced meat Shredded lettuce Toasty cheese Saucy Sandwiches from here are always on point.

Air-In M.

Yelp
Excellent. I was craving horseradish mayo on a turkey sandwich but was having a hard time finding something similar. I told the dude and he said he'd come up with something I'd like He made me a massive sandwich loaded with meat, horseradish cheese, and Sriracha mayo. Hit the spot! The Dutch crunch was perfectly crispy and somehow the sandwich held together while I was eating it. If I still lived in SF I'd be back very often, but sadly I moved to South Bay. Give them a try, you won't regret it!

J S.

Yelp
Khalil the owner is back making the Sandwiches. He now delivers a menu board that features a variety of delicious choices of Boars Head meats and creations that are hard to replicate. The deli section has a line of regulars that keep coming back for more, including me You gotta give them a try and I guarantee you will be coming back again. Parkside Market offers a great selection of deli items, wines, beers, and last minute grocery items. The store is conveniently located in the North of the Panhandle of Golden Gate Park. This store is a neighborhood gem. I highly recommend you to try their hot and toasty sandwiches, it's worth the wait and definitely money well spent as their prices are very competitive and reasonable.

JamiQuan J.

Yelp
San Francisco psycho on a Dutch crunch with fixers has made my day. The services A+ hey Uncle John it was a pleasure meeting you. Here's the thing I love ok adore food it's my highlight. I will travel long distances. The bread was perfect, fresh and toasted to perfection. I like my sauce and yeah it was just sauce but NOT sloppy, there is a difference. Care taken in the creating and laying of flavors. This is not just a sammish it was delicious and surprisingly fully of flavor. I'm in the area twice a week I think I can work my way thorough the menu if I don't even try hard lol Oh and did I mention they have SHREDDED lettuce

Jacob S.

Yelp
The photo speaks for itself!! One of the best sandwiches I have had in quite some time here in SF...and I had a really nice chat with John (his family's business) while he made my sandwich!! Also one of the cleanest liquor markets in the city with a great selection of booze/snacks. Thanks John - can't wait to come back for another sandwich!!

Laura T.

Yelp
Was excited to find this spot after moving from Russian hill and my beloved Boys Deli. Unfortunately, went on a busy afternoon, ordered a sandwich on an order form. Waited 15 min for the sandwich.... came home and the sandwich was made carelessly with none of the ingredients that were CLEARLY written down on the paper ticket? Order: -Salami and pepper turkey with lettuce tomato and peppers. Received: -two slices of some weird turkey bacon, regular turkey, spinach and remoulade sauce. (????) So glad I paid for and wasted my time for something I didn't order and was carelessly thrown together. No thanks.

Denice B.

Yelp
April 2018: Oh my!! The Sandwiches are scrumptious!! John was wonderful and talked with us while he made our sandwiches special to order! He gave us a history lesson about the area and was so nice & pleasant! We will definitely be back when we vusit SF and already told some people to go there!! Now we've came back to SF a year later and couldn't wait to get a sandwich here and go hang out in Chrissy Park watching the Wind Surfers as we eat.....once again, you guys didn't disappoint....Perry was awesome!! We will see you again, next time!!!

Misha T.

Yelp
Real real solid sandwiches here. I sort just told the dude working there to go nuts and was not disappointed. It was this turkey bacon thing on dutch with this pleasing spicy sauce and even a touch of honey. Pretty wild stuff. Note that they take a while to prepare, but that's just the deal when you've having everything sliced and made to order. If you're in a rush, it's probably best to call ahead.

Jesse R.

Yelp
Their veggie sandwich is the best ive ever had. They toast it and it is truly delicious. Really nice people that work here and their beverage selection is huge! My favorite sandwich spot :)
