11 Unique Fall Outdoor Dining Experiences

"The all-season outdoor space at Old Ground Social is filled with couches, firepits, twinkle lights, plant walls, TVs, and giant dice. Does it look a little like the set of a social experiment show on Netflix? Maybe. But coming here for drinks and a burger is a nice change of pace from your apartment. Plus, they occasionally have deep-fried Oreos." - adrian kane

Barn & Company Barbecue is Closing After Seven Years in Lincoln Park - Eater Chicago

"After seven years of serving barbecue in Lincoln Park, Barn & Company is closing. Ownership is shutting down the restaurant on February 5 and remodeling. A new restaurant, Faregrounds, will open in the space on March 15 with a focus on healthier food and move away from a meat-centric menu. Carmen Rossi — whose company, 8 Hospitality, is involved with establishments including LiqrBox, Pearl Brasserie, and Joy District — wanted to liven up the atmosphere at the space near Sheffield and Lincoln at 950 W. Wrightwood Avenue." - Ashok Selvam

Went here on a Sunday based on TikTok reviews for brunch. It wasn’t as lively as the videos make it seem however with a good group, it can be good. It was pretty dead when I went in there. However, the food and mimosas were OK as well. I tried the river north location before I will return.

Madi was amazing. Best server we’ve had in a long time. Food (pizza) was off the charts good. Recommend the buffalo chicken pizza was incredible. One complaint ……. Music too loud. (Maybe I’m old). We will be back.

Google
The service was really great and the staff were friendly and attentive. Happy hour Drinks were okay. The actually cocktails are really good though. Good prices for pizza for happy hour. But it’s gotta be some of the worst pizza I’ve ever had. It’s extremely thin tavern style pizza which okay I love tavern style pizza but it tasted awful had very little flavor didn’t taste fresh and low quality ingredients. We had three pizzas they were all horrible.

A must stop for happy hour! Even though it was busy, service was great and food was excellent! Would go back in a heartbeat!

If Parlay isn’t on your list of places to go to for catching a game, having brunch or just kicking it – what is your problem?! The environment is lively, the food is great, the drinks are hitting, and there are TVs literally everywhere - so if you want to watch college football on Saturday OR catch any of the NFL games on Sunday, this is your spot! The DJ they had was ON POINT too! They have a FULL BRUNCH MENU AND GAME DAY MENU all in one spot and there is so much to choose from on either one; there is literally something for everybody, no matter the type of mood you’re in! What we tried: Basket of loaded fries - they were crispy and never got soggy; that’s sorcery! 😂 Blackened chicken quesadilla - they seasoned that blackened chicken down! This was so good! Classic Buffalo wings – these were perfect. Fried perfect. Buffalo sauce perfect. No complaints! Double smash burger - everyone that tried this at the table was amazed how good it was. Those two double smash patties were ON POINT! Buffalo Chicken pizza - I totally understand why everyone loves this now! This pizza was so good! The crispy chicken that was on top has so much flavor which was great in addition to the buffalo ranch sauce that came with the pizza. I could eat that pizza anytime! One of the large format drinks is something that you should definitely get. They are so much fun to have at the table! I went on a Saturday during the college football games and even with it being busy, our waitress, and the manager were still very attentive! This is definitely one of my top choices as far as enjoying a place in the vibe, while enjoying yourself with friends!

I haven’t had a brunch experience like this in a longggggg time. They have a brunch mimosa deals that are an incredible deal, but even better was the service staff. Lucy made sure we were taken care of from the second we stepped in the door. An absolute gem. I will be back for not only the mimosas, but Lucy’s AMAZING service.

Google
Amazing experience, amazing atmosphere. My one complaint is that a close friend of mine fell here… it wasn’t anyone’s fault, especially not his. The puddle just got the best of him. Nonetheless, I have to deduct a few points due to the fact that my acquaintance took a tumble on the dance floor. He was minding his own business when suddenly a puddle on the floor overruled his destiny. I thought we could move on, but six months later the topic still gets brought up- resulting in this review. I’ve had amazing experiences at this location, but my friend’s slip has taken a toll on both his physical and social life. I wish the best for him and the owners. Good luck and good riddance.

Google
This place was so much fun! Definitely a great spot to grab drinks and some bites with my girl friends. I really liked the frozen mango margarita and the buffalo wings were so good. An added bonus was that the decor was cute and is super instagramable. Also love that they can cover the patio area if it is rainy. Can’t wait to go back again!

Yelp
Went there for trivia, wings tasted fresh but were very small. Cool interior and I would give it a chance on a Gameday.

Yelp
I had the most delicious bottomless brunch at Parlay Lincoln Park this past weekend! They have an awesome brunch special going on right now where you can get 90 minutes of bottomless mimosas or domestic beer with the purchase of any entree for only $25! I looooved that the mimosas were "build your own" as the bottle of champagne and carafe of orange juice came in an ice bucket - such a cool touch! Our server was great about checking in to see if we needed any refills too. We had the breakfast burrito and the vanilla blueberry French toast - both were delicious and a great pairing for the mimosas! The seating space of Parlay LP is a really cool inside/outside area (which means TONS of great natural lighting during brunch!) I can't wait to go back and try out more of the menu!

Yelp
The ambiance is fun but if you are wanting to seriously watch a game, it can be a little distracting since there are just people dancing everywhere and a loud DJ. The service was pretty good, but for a sports bar to not have any draft beers is pretty unusual. Prices are also a bit high for what you get. The food was average. We got the tenders, wings and nachos. All tasty, but nothing special.

Yelp
New addition to the neighborhood is a refresher. This place has a really nice decor for a sports bar / hangout. Lots of space, big tables and a comfortable bar makes it feel very open and welcoming. The menu isn't big and likely because it's a soft opening, they seem to be working out the kinks. There was no draft beer and bottles were non-existent but did enjoy a standard Miller Lite out of the can. The menu is simple but effective in terms of the usual sports bar foods - wings, burgers and pizza. Again, on this night (and assuming working out the kinks) there was no pizza available. We went with the wings which were tasty - 5 alarm and their Parlay rub. Service was excellent - the bartender was friendly and helpful in making recommendations (as well as being accommodating on some of the gaps they had). Do try this place out for the next game you want to watch outside your house for a fun time.

Yelp
Came here on a Thursday evening for drinks and apps - I was not impressed. It took 25 minutes for a server to stop by our table to order drinks. The margarita was good, but the appetizers we got did not seem fresh. Honestly the service was the worst I have experienced at bars around Chicago - they seemed dismissive and not attentive. Tried the pizza as well, while the crust and sauce were great, it seemed like they added quite a bit of salt to the pizza, which was not so great.

Yelp
..... please do not call yourself 'Parlay' and not play sound for games. Your menu is super basic and your boneless wings are super salty. Your management is super strict, you don't allow for ppl to accommodate themselves to have a good time. (No coffee, tea but can't bring it in). Your DJ repeats songs within a 2hr window. If you're looking for a place to host a non-eating gathering, sure. But this place is sadly boring.

Yelp
If you are looking for a college bar near DePaul to watch a game, have some drinks and eat pizza and wings this is your place. Super lovely atmosphere, great service extensive drink list. TVs every where and a bright sunny space. Great place to hang with friends and take in a game

Yelp
Great new sports bar in Lincoln Park. The selection of signature mules is awesome and the drinks are very good. Food worth trying are the wings and pizza. Service is good. Our bartender was very nice and took her time to explain what's in some of the drinks. Follow on IG table42chicago for reel about this place

Yelp
This is a great spot to watch sports with your friends! The drinks are great and the food was super tasty. I had the Passion Paradise mule (tequila, lime juice, ginger beer, passion liqueur and passion fruit syrup). This drink wasn't overly sweet, the ginger beer gave it a nice bite. I definitely recommend trying this cocktail! The service was great and the retractable roof is nice for patio drinking year-round! Definitely check this place out!

Yelp
This is a very cool spot to check out with perfect Instagram worthy photo ops! There are plenty of large tables and bar top areas that are perfect for large groups. The service was quick and prompt and our server was super friendly. We all enjoyed our various mules and the bill was not bad at all! Music and the ambiance were on point and would definitely come back to visit again!

Yelp
This is a newer sports bar that just opened last Fall. The good is that it has a lot of space and TVs. On a Sunday you can see almost every NFL game on at least one screen. The front patio/garden is real nice if you get to sit there. The food is all right, a few pizza options and a few sandwiches. I got the nachos once, those are real big, enough for a meal for 2 people. The boneless wings are a bit different than you usually see. Not bad, they're bigger, but they fall apart kind of easily. They specialize in moscow mules, they have a whole menu of them, if you like those you'll like this place. They also have 2 really good frozen slushies, and some other themed cocktails depending on the season. They have a few good craft beers, but strangely no drafts, which is rare for a sports bar. The music also gets a bit loud in between games. Also sometimes you have to ask to have the sound put on for a sports game, which should be a given for a sports bar, especially when a big game is on. Overall though, a good spot if you have a big group for a game. Not far from the Fullerton L stop.

Yelp
I came here last night with some friends and was blown away! The server said they just opened and are still adjusting some Things, but the pizza was amazing. If you love tavern style pizza this is probably the best I have had in Chicago! Very cool design also. The server was awesome and gave us a little tour when she was seating us. I will definitely be back!

Yelp
parlay is ALWAYS a vibe. bachelor night is incredible and so fun. brunch on the weekends is delicious and you can't go wrong with the $25 bottomless mimosas. especially if you have Lucy as your server (she's so sweet and awesome). you've got to check it out!

Yelp
Came here for drinks and apps and it was great! I'm so excited to come back. We got 2 bottles of wine (kinda expensive, $50 each), Parmesan fries, and mozzarella sticks. The mozzarella sticks were SO GOOD! I plan to come back on a weekend night, I think it would be a fun going out place

Yelp
It's just fine. Be prepared to scream across the table in order to have a conversation because the music is insufferably loud. Very overpriced food and drinks.

Olivia D.

Yelp
Service is extremely poor. We waited a very long time without water refills and the food was mid/ regular bar food. When it was served we had no silverware or napkins. Atmosphere is good for games but overall wouldn't be sad if I didn't come again. 2.5/5 stars for us

Kayla D.

Yelp
I absolutely love this bar and have been a long time guest, back to the OG & Barn & Co. days! The atmosphere is perfect for hanging out with friends or grabbing an awesome meal that isn't crazy expensive. I love the service and feel like the staff are my friends when I'm there. Cute place, lots of space, friendly people, good food. Just perfect. See you guys soon!!!!

Clayton S.

Yelp
This place is amazing on all levels! First of all, there are more TVs here than in any other restaurant in Chicago that I can think of, and they are playing all the games. The staff are attentive, quick and super friendly. They are asking you if you need another drink before you are finished, and I love that. I went to college in upstate New York and have been a huge fan of Buffalo wings since the 80's. I have tried them all over Chicago and I would say that these wings are right up there with Bird's Nest and Jake's. That's high praise. They are cooked perfectly and the sauce is straight up traditional buffalo style. Great blue cheese and they are generous with the celery. My son got a burger and he said it was fantastic--nice char on the outside yet pink inside. He also said that the fries were amazing. I stole a few and have to agree. The long and short of it--you need to try this place! I'm going back to sample the pizzas soon. I saw them coming out of the kitchen and they looked delicious!

Yelp
Nice finally having a bar back in the neighborhood! Great pizza. Great service. Great environment. Definitely coming back!

Sara B.

Yelp
Held a St. Patrick's Day event and bought a ticket online and somehow had to wait an hour outside in line. Bouncers walking up and down the line yelling at everyone being rude for no reason. No one was acting too crazy/drunk. They oversold tickets and now my money went in the trash because they stopped letting people in and I never got to go.

Jane D.

Yelp
Food is incredibly mid and not worth the price point. The servers were nice and very helpful but the management ruined the overall experience. We were sat in the patio area and we could clearly hear the manager yelling at some of the workers in the back. If you want to support a business that treats there employees like crap than parlay is the place to go!
google avatar

Jon M.

Yelp
Fun environment and the Pizza was surprising very good tavern style. Definitely was way too loud inside. While the DJ is fun, it definitely could be dialed down a couple notches so that you can hear others talk at all. Was 6PM and way too loud

Anika B.

Yelp
The food and atmosphere is nice but management ruins everything for customers. Been there a couple of times and on multiple occasions I personally witnessed the "general manager" yell, swear at and embarrass multiple employees during my meal. Made for an awkward dinner. Great spot but bad management.

Hayden S.

Yelp
Great establishment even better people. The absolute best bar in lp. Good food and good drinks. Atmosphere is unmatched.

Nick M.

Yelp
Amazing place. The atmosphere in here is perfect. Drinks are fairly priced and the staff are awesome.

Charlie L.

Yelp
Great time and great people! When I walked in I was greeted and gave an easy way to my table. The staff were super friendly and approachable, would 100% come here again!

Tanner H.

Yelp
BEST PLACE TO WATCH A FOOTBALL GAME. Great food, great drinks, and amazing atmosphere. The staff is amazing and treats you amazing. You're missing out if you don't check Parlay out.

Dimitris P.

Yelp
Super cool place, enjoyable atmosphere. Quincy and Grace were amazing and so enjoyable with very attentive service. Definitely will be back!

Jacob S.

Yelp
assaulted by the security over a misunderstanding, get him a t shirt or some sort of identification signifying he works for the company, I had already been at the bar for two hours went out for a smoke walked back in, i was already through the entry and making my way to the table when a guy in a regular clothes asked for my id (im not giving my id to a random person), i said i dont know you, you dont work here kept walking, was then grabbed by my shirt yanked back and told that im a fucking idiot. went up to the manager to try and explain the situation and was told " yeah he is a hot head". that doesn't make a situation okay that makes people feel unsafe that the guy protecting the bar is going to fight them. get the guy some sort of identification so people know who he is otherwise it just looks like some random guy asking for id. im not saying i was 100 percent right in this situation either, but there is no reason to lay hands on someone over a misunderstanding. should probably get a new door guy cause i only see lawsuits in the future if that's the way things are handled.

Anna K.

Yelp
very very rude boss, he denied my ID at the door after letting in a group of roughly 6 eighteen year olds. my REAL ID scanned, i verified my age, went through the whole process, and he still didn't let me in because I didn't "look like i was 24". the other bouncers are very sweet, but the general manager is honestly rude and makes the experience trash.

Ryan G.

Yelp
pictures of half naked women in the men's bathroom is insane. they over serve their customers constantly. if you want to hangout with sloshed messy post grads and pay way too much to not even have sound for the games, go to parlay! managed so poorly and wayyyy overpriced food. the dry rub wings are so bad don't get them. the overall decoration of the place is cool, but my ears were bleeding from hearing the same annoying songs on a loop. no beer on tap at a sports bar is so wild to me.
