Holiday Pop-Up Bars and Restaurants in San Diego - Eater San Diego

"The downtown nightclub is getting a North Pole makeover for its annual Santa’s Lair pop-up that runs November 22 through December 29. Attendees must purchase tickets to reserve a time slot, with the premium option including a welcome cocktail and a keepsake glass. Decorated wall-to-wall, the bar will offer photo-ops with Santa and a special food and drink menu that includes The Green Grinch made with Screwball Peanut Butter Whiskey, Licor 43 Horchata, Faretti Biscotti liqueur, Montenegro, heavy cream, and chocolate bitters and the Santa’s Smorespresso Martini." - Candice Woo

I had the pleasure of photographing a fantastic corporate event at the Park Nightclub, where employees truly let loose and enjoyed themselves. The venue was perfect, the food was delicious, and the service was exceptional. It was a night of pure fun and celebration for everyone involved.

Just had a sick night at Parq! The vibe was lit, music was great, and drinks were flowing. Staff were awesome! Couldn't fault anything. Already planning the next visit!

This review is in conjunction with their christmas pop up - Santa’s Lair. The videos you see on social media are nothing like how it looks in real life! Although cute and filled of lights, the quality of decor was poor with table stickers peeling off and cheap wall posters. The tables weren’t cleaned therefore they were sticky and dirty. They don’t seat you, even after paying to get in, you’d expect organized seating but alas, you need to find a table (if you are lucky). The service was lacking and was very very slow. *The tickets nor their website also aren’t very informative - the entry to Santa’s Lair is off Broadway, nor their usual entrance* I’d recommend skipping this pop up Drinks were $16 each and they had 6 food options from $16-35 No nearby free street parking. Ace across the street is $21 for 2 hours

Had a really disappointing experience at this club in San Diego. At the entrance, they told me I had to take off my cap or pay $5. I didn’t want to argue, so I threw it in the trash can outside. What really hurts is that the cap was a gift from my daughter — something deeply meaningful to me. Then I walk in and see plenty of people still wearing caps with no issue. As a visitor from Dubai, this felt totally inconsistent, unprofessional, and completely unfair. Definitely not the kind of welcome anyone should get.

Got a table thru mutual friends who set me up with Drea. She was our bottle girl and made the night super fun. Music was okay but had a blast. She was super attentive and made sure everyone had a good time. Next time im in SD I'll be going again.

Google
I like this nightclub. I thought the crowd and vibe was kind of low-key for a Friday night so I deducted one star. But everything else was great. The security and service at this nightclub was A+. The decor and atmosphere of the nightclub itself was really fun. The expensive drinks are very on par for every other nightclub in the city.

Google
Came here for a networking event, they had karaoke and trivia games. it was a lot of fun and a great place to meet new people. Security will not let you take your drink out of the restaurant

Yelp
This place was such a good time. If you're late 20's + and want to have a good time but not be surrounded by sloppiness, this is the spot. Bartenders were attentive. Drinks were good. Dancers really set the mood. Music choice was excellent.

Yelp
So I've been to Parq night club for two pop up events - An 80s video rental theme and Santa's Lair. The original bones of this place has graffitied walls as you descend to the floor below with scattered seating options and alcoves for various events to customize. Since my most recent event was Santa's Lair, I agree that social media does want you wanting more. I do love the different backdrops offered, the included Santa mug and ability to choose between two included drink options. For the 80s pop up I was also able to choose between two welcome drinks. You don't typically get to choose the welcome drink for ticketed pop ups. I chose the Whoville Elixir, which has a deceptively alcohol forward. I sipped this drink and had plenty of seating options. We actually moved twice to sit closer to the center Christmas tree. I didn't order food this time around but I did order food last time during the 80s pop up and the popcorn we ordered took so long! I'm not sure why it took forever since that is all we ordered. Even though you pick a time frame to arrive, you aren't rushed to leave. However, there's not much to do once you sit with your drinks & take your pics, so some ppl end up leaving after an hour. For the 80s pop up I was at least able to play some quick retro video games and watch The Blair Witch Project. Bartenders were super friendly. Would I check it out next year? With so many competing pop ups that don't require a ticket beforehand and provide a more expanded food menu, it would be difficult to pull in return business.

Yelp
One of the birthday celebration girls provided a free table for an hour and it was such a fun experience. With a bottle of champagne for the birthday party.

Yelp
Took my Dad to the pop=up bar/speakeasy for his birthday last Friday night and we had a blast. This was a 21+ event, admission included one of the specialty drinks (Men in Black or Jumanji. Both were tasty). We ordered a few more drinks (I got the Jaws but with vodka instead tequila). Drinks were sweet which usually isn't my thing but I am also happy with a perfectly themed food or drink. We also ordered the wagyu slider, charcuterie board, and zucchini sticks. Food was good but I think like most other popups you are paying more for the experience not so much anything else. Staff was very nice and also very attentive, always checking to make sure we were doing ok and if we needed anything else. The inside of the bar was set-up like Blockbuster with videos throughout (all themed to the movies and their corresponding drinks). Pick the video sleeve with your favorite movie/drink. There were a couple of screens set up around showing different movies and a ton of different genre movie posters all around. They also had video game like PacMan and Street Fighter you could play. It was something different and well worth doing at least once.

Yelp
Served its purpose. The music was okay, but the DJ wasn't giving. Is also spacious. Don't think I would come here again.

Yelp
The service we got was great, Victor was wonderful, he guided us with safety and precaution with the person i was with, who is in a wheelchair. He truly cared and took us from our table to the exit. Even though the elevator system wasn't working Victor took it in his own hands and help the accessible person to go down some stairs. I really appreciate him. Atmosphere was great, it was packed but that's a good thing. The vibe was there.

Yelp
We had the most AMAZING time celebrating our youngest's 21st birthday. Julia hooked us up with a table and bottle service. Our waitress was the BEST! As was the guy who cleaned up after us and kept us organized and the table clean. It was pretty dead in there until about 11pm and then the place went off. So much fun!!!! They truly treat you like royalty here.
google avatar

Yelp
Went to a comic con themed monsters ball party here! Had vip tickets and it was a fun time They had a Barbie Malibu themed area only for vips and the placed was popping and packed and jumping all night almost to the point where you felt very sardine which I don't want to sound old but geez I do want some space and some place to chill and sit too lol I'm old ok lol But the bartending was good service and performers they had were fun

Yelp
Previous review and questions about invasive pat downs were censored . It's a gas lamp downtown San diego expensive nightclub. 3-1 male female ratio. Loud music . Like all the others .

Yelp
*DO NOT GO HERE* Promoters were on the streets of San Diego and after badgering my friends and I, we gave our information and decided we would stop by during our night out. After having a fun time at Double Deuces, we wanted to keep the vibes up and went over to Parq. As soon as we arrive, security hounded my friends and patted us down and basically had us dump our purses. They confiscated items from my friends (clearly packaged Advil)! Security were not friendly...tell me how a group of girls are to feel safe in a nightclub if security made us feel unsafe!? Once we were inside, we were told we would be escorted to a table but no one ever came and then the bouncer got mad at us for standing around (after we were told to?!) They later insulted one of my friends and that's when we called it. Simply put, it was just a strange experience. We took our party to Whisky Girls, who made us feel much more special and safe!!!
google avatar

Monica D.

Yelp
Although I'm probably FAR past the target demographic for Parq, it was a decent time! My friend and I didn't stay too long and actually joined a table with some other ladies. The security guards were super nice, it's a cool spot with a great sound system and light display. We were there on a hip hop night, which was definitely our vibe as well. The crowd is on the young side, as expected, but if you're in the 20-30s age bracket, I'm sure you'll have a great time!

Yelp
As a ceo of a company I feel very dissapointed that I got kicked out of parq night club after paying $3000 for a table. The gentleman was Hispanic who falsely accused me of not belonging to the table. When I told him come on he got offended and yelled and kicked me out. I feel very violated by parq night club staff. The gentleman was a short Hispanic who was very insecure... 1 star and below !
google avatar

Yelp
"This is coming from a promoter from LA" Not a very enjoyable experience, I will say people have bad days but after reading reviews this seems like a regular occurrence. And after having a conversation with staff they didn't seem to surprised about what occurred to us last night and I feel like they quickly wanted to hush us up after. I don't recommend going here. The Double Deuce is down the road, drinks are cheaper and they have an electric bull! (Not going into context on what happened for privacy of others.) But thank you front gate staff for being cool and helping de-escalate the situation on your security side.
google avatar

Yelp
Born and raised in San Diego and I'll never come here again. Staff and bouncers are rude and unhelpful and let's not get into the colorism and fatphobia in the nightclub I had to experience and watch happen to others with no help from any staff member.
google avatar

Yelp
I had a really great time, the crowd was fun and the place is big so lots of room to dance and hang out. We got bottle service and our host Alie was super great in getting us whatever we needed. It was lit
google avatar

Jessica G.

Yelp
We went here for a bachelorette party and Mundaca and the bottle service crew exceeded all of our expectations we had so much fun and can't wait to come back here! Thank youuu :)

Yelp
This was my first time going to a traditional nightclub in San Diego and I was super excited. We got the tickets to the place from the website. Initially we were skeptical about the price, but later realized that it was all worth it! The line was a little long but it moved pretty quickly. As soon as we entered Parq, there was a beautiful enchanted garden themed park. The music was not too loud and had a good mix of the latest and old hits. After going around, we found the main nightclub club. It teleported us to Vegas! The nightclub was lit! There were dancers , disco balls and dance floors. The whole club was big and we had enough space to dance comfortably. We did get shots at the bar inside the nightclub and the price was $16/shot of house vodka. I highly recommend pre gaming instead of buying expensive drinks at the club. The dancers were lovely and the crowd was decently polished. Overall, we have found our favorite nightclub in San Diego. I have gone to several other nightclubs in SD, but this was the closest to the ones in Vegas and the crowd was not weird. Only downside is the expensive drinks - but there are bars outside that give out really cheap drinks and it is best to pregame!

Yelp
If you want your phone stolen this is the place to be! Staff was rude and disrespectful when I came to them about this issue. There are plenty of other clubs/bars in Gaslamp worth going to but not this one.
google avatar

Alexis M.

Yelp
Stay away. Security was disrespectful and rude. They act like they're a high end Las Vegas club. They took my friends advil and Dramamine. I don't even get this investigated at LAX. They then ignored us for a while and when they bounced approached us he kept asking where we came through like we would lie and say we chose to pay a cover fee for that tacky club. The guy then poorly attempted to hit on my friend by calling her a liar, cheater and manipulator. That's when we chose to leave. Such bad vibes. Save your walk to the sad lonely club at the end of gas lamp. Go to whiskey girl instead. Service and promoters were way more better and much sweeter.
google avatar

Brittaney L.

Yelp
One of my favorite nightclubs in San Diego! The crowd is always very diverse- all ages, ethnicities, genders, and sexualities! I hardly have ever seen fights break out- the security is on point & everyone is just there to have a good time! It's spacious and has several rooms such as a lounge area, the club, and a smoking patio. It makes it feel like it's not too crowded! The artists they have are always top notch! The special effects and the lights are amazing! I've been coming here for years and will always return!

Emily H.

Yelp
Very disrespectful and disgusting that we got into this place to have a good time for my sisters 21 and then tried to kick out part of the party because YOUR front desk let us in with cowboy hats and the other guy in our party THREW AWAY his hat. But because we got let in with the cowboy hats it was a problem?! Either fix your staff to better communicate or make the rules across the board. HOPE YOU GUYS ARE PROUD!! RUINING BIRTHDAYS!!!

Irma N.

Yelp
This place deserves 0 stars. We were celebrating a bachelorette party and were promised a great time and a table for the party. When we arrived, the security were immediately pretentious towards our group. After tossing our friends allergy pills and tyenol, we were left waiting for 5 minutes, not attended to at all. A staff member came to take us upstairs but insults my friend while doing so, based off her horoscope sign (yes so childish and unprofessional). Don't come here unless you peaked and trying to get bad service.

Yelp
On 4/27/24, We went to Parq to celebrate a friend's engagement party. After paying $30 per Person for entry, we were subjected to hands down the worst DJ experience and the worst music mix I have ever had the misfortune of being a witness of. Each music was played for a maximum of 2 minutes with a minimum of three interruptions by the DJ during that 2 minute clip for total BS comments and announcements and loud unnecessary horn noises and other effects. ! I haven't even heard that much announcements and interruptions during playoffs ! If there was a ADHD genre of DJibg, this DJ would have been diagnosed with that style of DJ ing. This was so bad that if you paid me $30 to listen to his music and his constant non stop interruptions for 5 minutes, I would pass up on the money and save my time. He was Just hands down the worst DJ i have even had the misfortune of spending money on in my lifetime! I have no idea why an establishment like Parq wouldn't vet the DJs beforehand before handing over the stage to someone so bad at doing. A simple job!

Valerie Z.

Yelp
If I could give this place zero stars I would. The vibe was off right from the start. Promoter came up to us on the street and saw we were a Bach group and hovered until we were free from a tour we were currently doing. She promised us a table and bottle service. We arrived and instantly were greeted by very rude security. Beware of what you bring in your bags girls. Just like Vegas, they will throw away any pill bottles or capsules even if it's just mints or Advil. Once we checked in they acted like they didn't know about our group and asked us how we came in. Like just went through their security and checked in with them. They were really rude to some of the girls in our group calling one of them a liar, cheater, etc. We are here to celebrate our friends Bach and this place was giving the worst service. When they said they would finally take us to our table (after being extremely rude to a number of the girls in our group) we decided we didn't want to stay in a place that treated their customers like this. If a promotor comes up to you in the street or you decide to do a walk up don't. It's not worth giving a business like this your money. **Update** We confronted the promoter of how rude we were treated by the staff and security and they lied to her and said we were trying to take in pills. I promise on my mamas grave we only had Tylenol, mints, digestive pills and allergy pills. This place is a joke and full of liars.

Yelp
Worst club in San Diego. PLEASE do not come here. Overpriced drinks. Angry security. Awful people. Security was literally shaking mad bcs he didn't believe I was supposed to be at a vip table I was at. Lol my friends had 3 tables, must have confused him but he insisted that I was being "entitled" lmao just don't waste your time. They hate people. Wish I knew his name but little short man syndrome shouldn't be in the service industry.
google avatar

Maria P.

Yelp
Worst club in ALL of the United States, and I am well traveled. Please take my review seriously because I don't leave many. This club consistently false advertises. They try to get you out front so eventually you'll pay $100 to hear the same music they're playing down the street. I promise you just walk to to 5th ave and you'll find plenty of places that'll treat you like YOU MATTER because YOU DO & way more bang for your Buck. Parq is not worth it.
google avatar

Shani H.

Yelp
Came here for a night out. Upon entering I saw the beautiful garden decor and was impressed. We ordered a round of shots and then went upstairs to the night club. There was alot going on but it was all fun. There was money falling from the ceiling, robots walking about dancing and bottle girls being carried around on spaceships to deliver bottles. It was a good time and I would for sure go back but I would try out bottle service because it looked fun.
google avatar

Emme A.

Yelp
Was there the other night, music was great and the drinks were amazing! Nate was such a great bartender! Super fast & was super fun! He definitely made the night better!!

Tish B.

Yelp
Racists! The doorman purposely filters out who he lets in based on skin color.i went with a group of friends who are all white, and I was the only one they wouldn't let in, even though my name was on the list.
google avatar

Yelp
There is so much that can go wrong nowadays with nightclubs that there's many times I don't even want to bother. The door and security being slow or a pain, the difficulty of ordering drinks or just finding enough space to be comfortable and move around, and the ambiance being dirty, too loud, or just not fun seems commonplace. I am very happy to report this was not my experience at Parq. We were able to seamlessly use the Discotech app to get free guest list, and had no issue getting on line at 1040pm and in for free by 1045pm. Security was professional and fast, and Paulino even helped make our lives a lot easier but giving us a paper ticket for our one friend who was running a bit behind. Instead of forcing him to stress/maybe have to pay cover, we were able to grab a quick drink and hand him the ticket upon his arrival. Little things like this, along with Head of Security Gary just being willing to have a really pleasant conversation with us/making sure we were having a good time went such a long way. There were multiple bars and rooms, so the lines to order were never too bad, and the fact that they had aerialists putting on a pretty impressive show in the main room made it that much cooler. Don't forget the last thing that puts this place over the top--the incredible "cold fog" they shoot down later in the night. This is not your run of the mill smoke machine--this thing legit covers the dance floor and immediately brings your body temperature in a hot club down while just creating an exciting environment....every club should have it! Will definitely be back next time I'm in SD

Hunter M.

Yelp
Went to Parq for bottle service last night for my friends joint bachelorette trip. Met by Allie, our host, who was absolutely amazing. Helped us with all of our random requests, made us feel so welcome and made everything happen that we asked for. She was truly amazing. Nelson made our entire experience so fun and carefree. He was there for absolutely everything, from a spilled glass to checking on the drunk people and making sure they were okay. He even went as far as finding me when I was outside of the bottle service area with a guy friend and checking on me to make sure I was safe. Just truly a great guy, super caring and helpful with the bride and groom.

Mike R.

Yelp
We had a night out here for a bachelorette party and Mundaca and our bottle service crew exceeded all of our expectations. They went above and beyond and made sure we had a really good time! Thank youuu and can't wait to come back

Amrit M.

Yelp
Alie was sooo amazing! Went to this place for my cousins bachelorette! Music and ambience were on point!

L P.

Yelp
Reserved a table at Parq for my birthday last week and it was AWESOME. The service was unparalleled. Mundaca was my host, and from start to finish he made sure we were taken care of. When we arrived, they let us know that they had upgraded our table to one that's right on the dance floor at no additional charge. We had our own security detail who kept us safe and our private space just for me and my friends, and even shown his flashlight and held our phones when we wanted to take pictures. There were drawers for our purses and jackets, ample space around the table to dance, and they server and bussers were prompt and efficient and kept our table clean and our drinks filled! Because it was my birthday, Mundaca had the DJ put photos of my and friends up on the huge display screens and had everyone in the club shouting happy birthday to me. It was so sweet, and we definitely felt like VIP's 1,000% the whole night. The DJ was fire too! Parq is definitely the best in San Diego if you're looking to book an elite-level, first class night club experience.

Alexia P.

Yelp
I initially planned to go here to see fivio foreign. they didn't tell us at the door nor post an update on Instagram that he wasn't coming. I payed $40 for cover ($80 for two ppl) & waited till 1:30am until I asked a security if he's coming out he broke the news, I was upset bc I could've stayed home & not waste time nor money. Please management update us if the artists aren't coming.

urmi q.

Yelp
Held a rave there tonight and wouldn't let in people in rave attire like boots, shorts, or tank tops. Doesn't advertise this when you book the tickets.
google avatar

Allee S.

Yelp
What a fun place!!! Did the bar crawl with a group of 8 of us, this was the last place we came to. Drinks are very pricy but was definitely a very fun environment. My friends left their phones and wallets there, they were returned safely but they weren't able to get their stuff until 10pm the next day.. be ware. Super fun! I'd come back
google avatar

Andie C.

Yelp
Drinks overpriced Trey songs was scheduled to perform and by 12:44 no show the crowd was over excited for a bunk show security was a joke and demanding and by 1 am still no Trey overpriced overall I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone over 21 with a valid California ID

Julie P.

Yelp
Our VIP Marketing Host, Alie Merchant was AMAZING! We were a group of eight (8) ladies visiting San Diego for our friend's Bachelorette celebration and Alie made sure our night was beyond special. After I had made an online inquiry, she quickly reached out and helped me plan a night for our group that was beyond our wildest dreams, within our budget, and made our bachelorette feel over-the-moon loved and honored. It was, by far, the best part of our weekend. Alie was easy to communicate with over text and in person, when she greeted us with such kindness and positive energy. We really felt like VIPs. Alie, we cannot thank you enough. And Parq itself was so beautiful. We got there right before 11 pm, met Alie, walked to our table, and the rest was her-story! ;) The aesthetic at Parq is so fun and lively, the DJ that night was so great, and the bathrooms are also so uniquely decorated! We loved every second of our time at Parq! Thanks a million!

Jennifer C.

Yelp
This is the absolute worst club ever, if possible I would give it zero stars. The bouncers are so rude and will touch you for no reason, and then be super rude. Don't waste your time with this club, it is not worth it.
google avatar

Anthony A.

Yelp
Celebrated my promotion in Parq I contacted Caleb The director of VIP, a week before. I told him the amount of people that were going and what we wanted to do. Caleb asked a couple questions as far as music and what we wanted to do and he recommended getting bottle service, we were treated like royalty. Apart from that Caleb took his time to escort us inside and made sure everything went smooth! Thank you Caleb! I will definitely come back to you and will definitely recommend you to anyone and all my friends and family.

Priscilla Z.

Yelp
Horrible service. A woman stopped us on the street to offer our Bach party a table. Once we got there the security and staff were so rude. Really strict bag check like Vegas (toss out all prescription and over the counter medication). Then we were waiting while they sat other groups and everyone ignored us even when we asked who was supposed to sit us. Our bride finally decided she wanted to leave and they acted like like such assholes and happy to walk us out. Don't recommend at all. Don't waste your time or money.
google avatar

Sara O.

Yelp
Great drinks and service! Yurima was our bottle service girl. It was a vibe all night
google avatar

Eden W.

Yelp
I had a terrible time at Parq, the management and staff were extremely rude in disrespectful. I was thrown up on by a guest of the establishment. Manager/ "Head of Security" Gary argued with my friend about a free re-entry upon return home and back to the establishment, while he scoffed when I pleaded about how the circumstances of our need to reenter were none that we could control. He was exceptionally nasty.
google avatar

Rhea Z.

Yelp
Unacceptable. I was 100% sober (designated Driver) was wearing heels, perfectly able I walk and perform all field sobriety tests and I was not allowed in because the people I were with we're drunk. I was not. My friend was also not drunk (we were the only 2) and they kicked her out because she took 40 seconds to get her ID out of her purse smh I also saw them dragging a woman our and dropping her on the floor of this street. They have been reported and need to lose their license immediately.
google avatar

Patrick T.

Yelp
worst club of alll time, kicked me out for no reason, said i was too drunk but i wasnt, said i couldn't go back in even tho i was fine, they are the worst bouncers of all time, worst club ive ever been in

Alina M.

Yelp
The guy that was checking Ids pushed me in the entrance and I fell he said he was sorry but still you shouldn't put your hands on people the guy was short about 5'4 and had two braids. I had to leave to go back to my car because I scraped my knee and I was wearing heels I couldn't even enjoy my night .

Yelp
This 5 star review is due to one of your security guards, Markie and the positive experience I had because of his excellent customer service skills. He was extremely polite and professional and escorted me in when it was super crowded and the lines were very long. He even went as far as to take me to the downstairs women's restroom. He definitely went above and beyond to create a positive experience for your guests in a way that is non-intimidating and extremely professional. This type of experience and level of professionalism is very rare in today's club scene and I truly appreciated the way he handled himself. Shout out to Markie in security who is truly an asset to your establishment. Thanks to him, I will be back.
