"Parrain’s is a Baton Rouge staple, in part due to its rustic, bustling atmosphere, and in part due to its huge, simple, and satisfying menu. The food is classic Louisiana, drawing tourists and visitors in for a taste of Cajun and Creole cuisine, (and yes, that sometimes means a tad salty or heavy). Fan favorites are the blackjack charbroiled oysters, hushpuppies, whole fried catfish, barbecue drum, and seafood pasta." - Clair Lorell

I absolutely loved my first time here. It was pretty crowded but I now understand why. I tried a few dishes and they were all amazing. The hen and the dirty rice were delicious. The fried fish and the salmon were excellent choices as well. Definitely will return again soon.

Coworker and I came in because the reviews looked decent and the pictures of food looked great. Boy are we glad we did stop in. We got in with no wait even though the parking lot seemed full and it looked busy inside. We started with the crab claw appetizer and then each got a fish dish. The appetizer was absolutely delicious and the sauce was the bomb. The fish was tender, well cooked and the light crust was perfect! Topped it off with some pecan pie and i can only hope that I have to travel through the area again so I can come back!

A friend insisted I check out Parrain’s during my visit to Baton Rouge, and spoiler alert—they were absolutely right. So right, in fact, that I went twice! This family-style, barn-inspired restaurant is a true Louisiana gem. Despite the place being packed with families and guests clearly there for a good meal, I was pleasantly surprised to be seated right away. From the moment I sat down, the service was attentive and friendly. I needed a moment to browse the menu, so I started with a bowl of seafood gumbo. It was rich, flavorful, and generously packed with a variety of seafood. The warm bread served alongside was the perfect touch. For my entrée, I chose the seafood pasta paired with a side of coleslaw. The portion size? Very generous! I had dinner plans later that evening, so I had to stop myself from finishing every bite—which meant I had to return the next day. Round two included a taste of their chargrilled oysters, boudin rolls, and the seafood platter, which came with a sweet and creamy sweet potato mash that stole the show. Again, the portions were large, especially for the price. The atmosphere is warm, lively, and family-friendly, and the Southern hospitality shines from the staff to the food. Whether you’re a local or just passing through Baton Rouge, do yourself a favor and dine at Parrain’s. You won’t be disappointed.

5 Stars – Amazing Food, Service, and Vibes at Parrain's in Baton Rouge! If you're looking for a true taste of southern hospitality, Parrain's in Baton Rouge is the place to be! From the moment we walked in, we were treated like family. Our server, Silas, was an absolute sweetheart—so attentive and warm, he really made the experience unforgettable. He embodies what southern hospitality is all about! Now, let's talk about the food... OMG. We started with some appetizers that absolutely blew us away: fried green tomatoes, boudin egg rolls (made with chicken livers, rice, and cheese—yes, it was as amazing as it sounds!), and the hush puppies. And those hush puppies... hands down the best I’ve ever had. I’m not usually one to go all in on butter, but I was scooping it by the heapful, just to keep dipping those puppies in. Pure heaven. For the main course, Eric went with the Pontchartrain Blackened fish, and I had the Crawfish Tails with Etouffee. Both dishes were packed with flavor, and we couldn’t stop eating. Honestly, we stuffed ourselves to the point where we didn’t even have room for dessert—and trust me, that’s saying something! I don’t often “pig out” like this, but the food was so good I just couldn’t help myself. Every bite was better than the last, and Silas made sure we had everything we needed, always with charm and a smile. One thing that really stood out was the atmosphere. The whole vibe at Parrain's is so upbeat—everyone seems genuinely happy and enjoys being there. The staff was not only great but looked like they were having fun. Is it just Louisiana? Or is it this place specifically? I don't know, but I love it! It felt like such a fun, welcoming environment, and I could tell the staff really enjoys working there. If you’re in Baton Rouge, Parrain's is an absolute must-visit. You’ll leave full, happy, and with a heart full of appreciation for true southern charm and good vibes!

Loved this place. First time to BR and this place. Staffs were attentive and friendly. Remy was my waiter and he knows the menu well and gave me recommendations. I was even offered a sample!! The oysters were fresh and the 1/2 crow fish is alittle on the salty side but still amazing. The vibe was good and no wait on weekday!

Google
Great food, great staff, and super accommodating! We showed up 10 min before closing, and no one gave us the cold shoulder treatment—very welcoming with excellent service and energy! The gumbo, stuffed mushrooms, key lime pie, and baked oysters were all delicious! The étouffée tasted good, too, but we took that to go so cannot fully review! Nonetheless, highly recommend! Cheers! ✨

What a great experience. Our waitress Bella was fenominal to start. The food was fantastic. And the whole atmosphere is fantastic. Greta staff and a wonderful experience. This place did not disappoint. Will be back for another dining experience.

My daughter and I walked in on a Sunday evening, was seated right away. We were in town for a bowling tournament, and had one free evening for dinner. SO GLAD we chose this place! Parrain’s came highly recommended, and we see why! Shayla was our server, fantastic server!!! Very attentive, gave solid recommendations, very friendly and warm!!! Crawfish étouffée was to die for! Daughter ordered The Whole Shebang, thinking we would be able to take some leftovers with us. Nope, it was so good we couldn’t help but keep eating!! Portions were nice and big as well. Highly recommend this place, and can’t wait till the next time we’re in town to dine here again!! Ask to sit in Shayla’s section!!!

Yelp
Parrain's Seafood, located at 3225 Perkins Rd, Baton Rouge, LA 70808, exceeded expectations. The establishment offers an exceptional seafood selection, including char-grilled oysters and marinated crab claws, as well as Cajun cuisine such as crawfish étouffée Andouille-encrusted fresh fish. The menu is extensive and consistently delivers high-quality dishes. Highlights include the char-grilled oysters, raw oysters, marinated crab claws, Catfish Perdu (two fried catfish filets, crawfish étouffée, served over rice), Andouille-encrusted fresh fish, Shrimp, Crawfish, Crabmeat & Andouille Pasta, The Delacroix (grilled Mahi, sautéed shrimp, creole mustard cream sauce), and a noteworthy white chocolate bread pudding. #tonylameats #parrains #parrainsseafood #batonrougela #cajun #seafood

Yelp
Living in the south with shellfish + fish allergies can be a bit of torture, but my family loves Parrains! They rave a lot about those oysters. Up until recently, I didn't enjoy tagging along because almost everything on their menu is seafood, duh. That changed when tried their Boudin Egg rolls with extra sweet chili. They're an appetizer but I request it as my entree so they throw a few more in there for me. The place is always packed, so be prepared to wait. Overall a the staff is always friendly and helpful. Maybe it's just me but I love how the place is literally in the heart of BR yet when you're inside, you feel like you're hut in the middle of swamp (I always disclose to server about my food allergies to avoid cross contamination and so far I haven't had an issue compared to other places I've visited in the past)

Yelp
Great solo lunch this afternoon. Had the salmon with a stuffed potato. It came with spinach also. Nice soundtrack piped through and the place was decorated for Christmas. This is one of my favorite places so of course you should go. Specializes in seafood, in case you didn't know. Chandler was a fantastic server!

Yelp
Everyone, and I mean EVERYONE, recommended this place to us. Be prepared to wait, although our wait was very short because we agreed to sit anywhere. We ended up in the bar which was lively. By the way, kids are allowed to sit in the bar, I assume because food is served there. Everyone orders the Char-Grilled Oysters and you should, too. We went with the "Traditional" ones and they were awesome. I honestly could have eaten a hundred of them. In fact, if I ever return, I'm ordering drinks and oysters and that's it. For our entrees, we went with The Delacroix (grilled Mahi, sauteed shrimp, cream sauce) and the Pontchartrain (fish filet, crabmeat, cream sauce). My poor Mahi was cooked to death and was dry as a bone. I obviously ordered wrong and should have gone with something deep, deep-fried. The other entree, the Pontchartrain, was absolutely delicious. I'm usually lucky with good to great service almost everywhere but our server here could not have been less interested. I saw great looking cocktails everywhere and our gal said the cocktail menu was AWOL but they had Jack Daniels and the like. Well, that's not a big help. She also never asked if I wanted a second beer and she never bothered asking if we wanted dessert. She wasn't completely awful but I hope this wasn't her best effort. The place is very casual and has a lot of energy. I have to knock them for the insanely overcooked fish and the who cares service. I would definitely return for about 100 of those char-grilled oysters.

Yelp
First time to Parrain's. It was recommended by a local. Expectations were met. If you're looking for Cajun cooking this is a great spot. The place looks lik a welcoming down home restaurant. The staff was very courteous and friendly. Now the food!!! The food was great. Had the "Whole Shebang Platter" Portion was big enough for two, or like in my case a really hungry Man. Had everything I was looking for. The coleslaw was a tasty surprise as it was a new mixture to me. But reader.. A MUST order is the Blackjack Oysters!! They are chargrilled with Monterey Jack and jalapeños. These are a must have. You won't be disappointed.

Amy J.

Yelp
College kids behind the bar. They're doing their job and having fun. Best grilled oysters I've ever had. They were not dried out. Also, why are blue crab claws not more of a thing across the country?? They were delicious. Perfectly fried. Not heavy at all.

Janiya H.

Yelp
I honestly did not like much about Parrain's. It's been a Baton Rouge staple for many years. Unfortunately, the service was terrible when I went. Waiting almost 3 hours in total for food & service was insane. We arrived about 1:30PM. We didn't leave until 5PM. Didn't enjoy the oysters at all. I immediately began to feel sick after eating the oysters. I did get to enjoy a cup of the crab & corn bisque soup which was delicious. I could tell our waitress was very overwhelmed. We hardly saw her at the table. She was super nice, and she tried asking was something wrong but, I didn't want to make her day even more hectic so I left without mentioning anything because it wasn't even her fault.

Yelp
Parrain's must be doing something right, it seems to be busy most of the time. Went for some lunch and sat out on the covered patio which was nice. Started off with crab stuffed mushrooms, a plate of 5 large mushrooms could have been my entire meal. I ordered the two choice plate, regular cut catfish and fried shrimp. The plate comes with salad, fries, hush puppies, dirty rice and your 2 choices. Shrimp had a good coating and seasoning was well done. The catfish was a bit mushy for me, I should have ordered the thin option. Hefty portion of dirty rice. The kitchen forgot my fries which was okay, soo much food I wouldn't have eaten them anyways. Parrain's is your typical family sized restaurant nicely decorated like a camp on the bayou. Definitely worth a visit.

Yelp
My father and I took an impromptu road trip to Baton Rouge. While there, we decided to try Parrains based on the Yelp ratings and feedback. We chose fried green tomatoes and black Jack oysters as our appetizers. He decided to order the crab/shrimp pasta while I had the shrimp and catfish combo with dirty rice and broccoli. Both came with a choice of salad or coleslaw. We chose salad. Our server was Jackson and although I saw several servers checking in frequently with their guests, he didn't check in as much as I would've liked. I needed cocktail sauce for my shrimp and decided to just use ketchup. Overall, the staff is friendly and the food was decent. Our bill came to $100 with tip. The restaurant has rave reviews but besides the appetizers, we weren't wowed.

April K.

Yelp
This place was total chaos. After our hour + wait, the crab and crawfish au gratin was phenomenal and the boudin balls were good. I wasn't impressed with my crab claws. Hubs said the gumbo was good. The other two got some kind of pasta and said it was good as well. It's entirely too overly stimulating for me.

Yelp
The starters and appetizers we ordered (Cole slaw, house salad, grilled oysters) were staring down the barrel of a 2-star review... HOWEVER, the great service, cool vibe and delicious entrées saved the night! We came in on a Thursday night and - despite the bustling dining room - were seated right away. Our server was a delight, super friendly and welcoming. We ordered the grilled oysters to start and opted for the "Black Jack" version. We also put in our entrée orders and were asked to choose a starting salad. I chose the house salad and my husband chose the Cole slaw. The oysters were simply not good... I had one and did not go for another. I get it, it's not oyster season... but the accoutrements did not help in this case, in the least bit. My husband had to spit out 7 chunks of shell from a single oyster. The Cole slaw was brand and a little soggy and my salad had a sad array of wilted and brown iceberg lettuce and two grape tomatoes, which I did not bother to dive into. Things were looking bleak, despite our server's sunny disposition. Thankfully, everything changed when the entrées entered the chat... The Pontchartrain and The Atchafalaya Savory, fresh, decadent, perfectly-cooked fish with a thick hollandaise sauce. Though very similar, both dishes were equally devoured by my husband and I. I especially loved the juicy little crawfish on top of the Atchafalaya. The side of creamed spinach was DIVINE, and the perfect pairing for the fish. The dirty rice could have been a meal all its own! Just the right amount of spice... I could have eaten a whole bowl for dinner and been a very happy girl. Would I recommend this place? Yes. Would I order the oysters? No. Am I still thinking about that hollandaise sauce 6.5 hours later? Absolutely... and my mouth is watering.

Yelp
Wow! I came into Parrains at the recommendation of the hotel I was staying at and was blown away by everything. There was a pretty long wait for a table, so I sat down at the bar. Greeted pretty quickly and got to looking at their incredible menu. I was craving char grilled oysters so I ordered half dozen. They were life changing. The bread they served with them were perfect. I also ordered the andouille encrusted fresh fish and this, too was awesome. It came with a salad, which was pretty standard. But the fish, with the sauce, and the dirty rice that I chose as my side was delicious. I guess I've never had authentic Louisiana dirty rice before because I thought this was so good! The whole place has a pretty rustic feel, which fit perfectly with the vibe. Can't wait to come back!

Marla R.

Yelp
Everything was great! We had ice cold beer, Cabernet wine, bacon wrapped shrimp, fried shrimp and crawfish etouffee. Sat immediately at the bar on a busy Friday night and Birch was such a great bartender. He took excellent care of us and the other patrons.can't wait to go back and try the smoked oysters.

Jessica S.

Yelp
Cute little quaint place tucked off the road. Staff very friendly and attentive. Restaurant was clean. Restaurants were clean. Sweet tea was excellent not too sweet just right! Let's talk about the food. The crab fingers were excellent as an appetizer. For dinner, we got the whole shabang plate and shared it. Plenty of food for two adults. It was excellent get the greens beans super yummy! Everything was seasoned very well homemade fresh. Let's take deserts key lime pie and bread pudding were excellent! Will be back! We also got the BBQ shrimp it was excellent as well. The only thing we didn't care for was seafood gumbo was very thick and had to much rice in it flavor was decent just was way to thick.

Eve W.

Yelp
Food was delicious! I'd never eaten here before, so it was cool checking it out at a bday dinner. Our server was very patient with our big group. The ambiance was a bit noisy but it's a popular spot so that makes sense. Anyways it was a nice evening and the food was good and fresh.

Amanda C.

Yelp
Came here on the way home to Houston with a party of six. We unfortunately had a usual long wait time to be seated and believe they forgot about us. Everything we ordered was delicious and we were all very impressed. We had crab fingers as an appetizer, salad and coleslaw. The coleslaw had peanuts and was very tasty. I had a bowl of gumbo with rice on the side and my husband had the BBQ shrimp. I can't recall what the rest of our party had but it too was all delicious. Our waitress did her best but was quite busy and got our tickets wrong then eventually corrected the problem when she got around to us. We were pressed for time and needed to get back on the road after being there for two hours.

Doug R.

Yelp
4/8/24 work dinner A couple colleagues I was with suggested we dine here. The service was great. Greta was friendly and very knowledgeable, she did a fantastic job! The place is pretty casual, open and comfortable. The food was great. We were all torn on what to order so we went with a couple apps and a couple entrees, decide to dine family style. Delacroix was a highlight, the Mahi was cooked perfectly and the rice was awesome. I also had a cup of the seafood gumbo, which was amazing! The New Orleans BBQ Shrimp is a must try and the Boudin Egg Rolls were phenomenal. Beers were cold and tasty!

Ebone' W.

Yelp
Luke was so nice and a great server. It was our first time, and my mother wanted Charbroiled oysters (what's new), and we were surprised at how huge they were! She didn't waste any time eating all of those with the biggest smile on her face. I ordered the platter that came with everything, and it was plenty of food. We even had leftovers. They actually have crab in their gumbo, and it had a good flavor. Prices are reasonable, and food comes out quickly. We'd return if in the area.

R C.

Yelp
Service was good. The place is nice and the ambiance is great. Food was delicious And great. I recommend this place to take your love one. Great and Delicious!!

Troy B.

Yelp
Parking is limited. Wait time for seating was maybe 10 minutes on a Thursday evening. Started with seafood gumbo, served lukewarm, I've had much better elsewhere. The crawfish étouffée was thick with an off flavor, I would not recommend. The atmosphere was nice with decent service, it gets crowded so be prepared to wait. Hesitant to try again.

Jessica L.

Yelp
Great meal and service. Casual and relaxed atmosphere that will be comfortable for most families and social groups. All food was well-prepared and came promptly. Water and tea glasses were refilled, too. The oysters were definitely a highlight. We tried the blackjack style, great presentation in the half-shell and steaming hot. They delivered a mild kick, but not overwhelmingly spicy, and a creamy sauce that started the meal nicely. The Atchafalaya was fantastic. Tasty fish with the crawfish and sauce. Perfect. And I needed a new bank account - that creamed spinach was so rich. The salad accompaniment was good, noting that the blue cheese and dressing was several improved steps above basic. My coworker had the grilled fish entree and bacon bbq shrimp starter, which was served on sweet potato medallions that deserve their own spot on the menu. Our party of 2 arrived around 4 pm for a (very) late lunch and there was no wait. No room for dessert, sadly, but if I had room, I would order the chargrilled oysters for dessert. I will definitely visit this place next time I'm in town.

Peter P.

Yelp
An excellent stop in baton rouge, a delicious restaurant. Its a pretty big spot, the staff were attentive and welcoming, very pleased with service from host to servers. The food was fresh and delicious. Seafood as you'd expect and other Louisiana classics. I got the whole shebang platter which is pretty much everything that's fried with a cup of gumbo. The catfish, shrimp, crawfish and hush puppies were fried perfectly, golden brown delicious. The gumbo was super flavorful and was probably my favorite thing. Would definitely come back, food was delicious, prices were super reasonable, and the staff friendly

Tanga R.

Yelp
Everything was delicious. Charbroiled oysters, stuffed mushrooms, the whole shebang. Bread pudding. Will be back soon

Elizabeth B.

Yelp
Traveling through Baton Rouge and needed some delicious Cajun food. Looked on Yelp and Parrains was 4 minutes away from hotel. It definitely lived up to the yelp reviews. We got the seafood gumbo, corn and crab bisque, chargrilled traditional oysters and the mahi vermillion. All of it was delicious !!! Weslee our waitress was also great. Super happy we found Parrains!

Luke F.

Yelp
Parrain's is fantastic! I've been here a couple of times while visiting Baton Rouge, on the recommend of my friend who grew up in town. It's definitely the place to go for authentic Cajun seafood! Both times I've been here, I've gotten the Catfish Perdu, which is thin fried catfish topped with their delicious crawfish étouffée and served over rice. Also, their hushpuppies are probably the best I've ever had! The environment is fun and casual, and the service is always friendly. For an authentic Louisiana experience, you can't miss with Parrain's!

Luke H.

Yelp
Brining the taste of the deep bayou to Baton Rouge! Awell established Cajun restaurant with food set to match the quality of service offered. The food is traditional seafood/Cajun with many local fish offerings and classic like boudin balls and étouffée. The setting is an old wooden restaurant with plenty of seating and decor to look the part of an upscale fishing shack Service was great, the hostess and waitstaff were kind and informative of the menu as I asked many questions prior to deciding my dish. I got the andouille encrusted fresh fish. It was lightly fried and well seasoned. The creamed spinach was very rich and cheesy (almost a like a spinach dip, which I did not complain about).

Evelyn C.

Yelp
For two pescatarians, the Gulf Coast presents numerous delectable options. Our latest discovery? Charbroiled oysters, eggplant Pontchartrain, and breaded catfish fillets smothered in Etouffee. This meal was so rich it required a Swiss bank account. We devoured it together, with no room for lavish desserts! Our waitress Ashley was excellent, attentive to every detail. We'll be back when we pass through.

Brooklynn C.

Yelp
Well, Parrain's is genuinely one of the BEST cajun seafood restaurants i've probably ever had. I'm really picky when it comes to boudin, being I grew up in southern Louisiana and this place had some amazingly flavorful boudin balls. My partner ordered the Crawfish Etoufee, which had such an authentic and nostalgic flavor, along with the Crab and Corn Bisque. I personally ordered the Crab, Shrimp pasta with their andouille sauce. It was phenomenal and such a big portion. Our waiter was such a sweetheart and recommended the dish to me, and I absolutely loved it. The restaurant itself was very warm and cozy, and reminded me of a mom and pops restaurant. Can't ever go wrong with a meal that tastes home cooked. I will definitely be coming back, as I so enjoyed my time.

Velvet P.

Yelp
Great local spot! My husband and I were so tired as we pulled into town in route to Florida, and we made an excellent choice! The food was excellent, and probably the best hush puppies I tasted in my life ! The waiter was young and very attentive!

Vik P.

Yelp
Service, space, and food was near perfect and everyone in our group left full and satisfied. Starters - Black Jack Chargrilled oysters - Cup of seafood gumbo w/okra - how it should be and roux was pretty much on point, oh and the bread that accompanied the gumbo it like crack, wouldn't have gotten past this point if they brought out baskets of it. - Boudin Egg Rolls pair perfectly with the sweet chili sauce Entree Catfish po-boy was just okay for me, but the fries were delicious crisp on the outside, soft in the middle and seasoned well without being too salty. Service - they have personality fo sho Plenty of parking Good for groups Great place to stop on the way to/from Nola...right off the 10.

Destinee R.

Yelp
Had an evening dinner here with a large party. I was very surprised with both the quality and price of the food! I loved the fried crawfish tails! The oysters (though small) were so flavorful I should have gotten a dozen. Service was quick and our overall dining experience was good.

Chris B.

Yelp
This place is the bomb. Had dinner at the bar. Good service. Had the redfish ponchitraine with dirty rice. Slap you momma good. Big drink pours. Definitely worth a return trip. I didn't have the charbroiled oysters but everyone else in the restaurant seemed to be having them. They looked good

Dez H.

Yelp
Everytime I come here my food is always good and fresh! Service is very good and doo comes out pretty fast . Very please with the ambiance of the restaurant not to loud just perfect for a nice date night or family night

Robert M.

Yelp
Wow!! This place is a must try! I sat at the bar since it was totally packed. The bartenders were all super helpful, knowledgeable, and friendly. The building itself is pretty cool and had decent music playing. The food....it's all great! I can't complain at all. The traditional grilled oysters were delicious. The bartender suggested a sweet chili dressing for the salad and it was amazing. I ordered a seafood platter and it was all served smoking hot and had great flavor!!

Nelly S.

Yelp
How did I miss out on this place the 5 years I've lived in Baton Rouge? Definitely not fancy and pretty sure employees are mostly college students (just all appeared pretty young) but the food is delicious! Don't skip the oysters, we had chargrilled but the other ones sounded interesting as well. Will have to try them next time! The mushrooms were good (doused in butter so how could they not be), eggplant appetizer was great. The andouille crusted fish (drum) was fresh, clearly everything was hot and would get almost everything again. Even my daughter's also was great, other options available on the kids menu. Bread pudding was good but not the best I have ever had. There's quite a few other desserts to choose from.

Monica B.

Yelp
This restaurant was on a list of locally approved restaurants from BR natives, so I took this recommendation seriously, and it did not disappoint. This was on a Sunday so the after church crowd (which included my crew - an unusual circumstance for myself) was absolutely booming. We checked in and waited about 40 minutes for a table. This was fine with us as we were in town visiting family and about to head back for a 2.5 hour drive anyway, so we had time to spare. Once seated we had a lovely waitress who's name I currently cannot remember, but she was a delight. We ordered boudin balls as an appetizer. Two of us ordered the crawfish tail salad and others the gumbo. Everything was absolutely delicious, so much so, I only got a picture of the boudin balls because we devoured everything else so fast lol. This restaurant seems to be an institution and it's no surprise with the quality of service and food. Our waitress had to ask a manager to make fresh coffee, and they did just for us, and it was greatly appreciated. If you find yourself in BR try them out and I promise you won't regret it!

Tori C.

Yelp
I'll always love Parrain's food! There's nothing like the fried shrimp and obviously the bread. For some reason, the front of house is always weirdly snarky to me; whether I'm picking up a togo order or coming to eat inside. We sit in the bar area because it's too crowded everywhere else but we don't mind. The music in the bar area was unnecessarily loud to the point I couldn't talk to the people at my table normally!

Mark M.

Yelp
Parrain's is one of our absolute favorite places when we visit Baton Rouge. We have made many memories at Parrain's whether we do appetizers, a full meal, or just sitting on the back porch enjoying cocktails... Parrain's never disappoints. In almost 20 years of eating here when I'm in Baton Rouge I've never had a bad a bad experience. Great Food. Great Service. Great Atmosphere.

Frances F.

Yelp
This place is busy! When we got there, they were ranging in waittime from 40 minutes to 2 hours - thats nuts but people were waiting so we figured the food must be good. But I also don't have that kind of patience for a late dinner. We lucked up with seats at the bar, no wait. To start- I went with the chargrilled oysters... and sitting at the bar I watched them chargrill them. Very good choice. For dinner option - they had me at topped with pecans. I went with the pan-fried fish (it was drum, which I havent had before - its similar to a catfish to me, although some describe it like a snapper) with pecans. Maybe everything should be served with pecans. And b/c its Louisiana- a hurricane-ish rum punch -of course!

Robin B.

Yelp
I love fish and one of my favorites here is The Pontchartrain. It has capers, crab meat, and a sauce that I love. I usually get creamed spinach which is good although not the best that I've had. I enjoy the remoulade dressing on my salad which has just a tad of a kick to it and is so flavorful. Just a little lagniappe here; if you like to dip French fries like I do, try the remoulade. Very tasty! The stuffed mushrooms are good. The crabmeat stuffing was flavorful, had just the right amount of spice and they don't skimp on the crabmeat. We sat outside on the very nice deck that is shaded, has numerous fans, and tvs to be able to enjoy LSU when they're playing. The food came out quickly and was a considerable amount. Our server was attentive and friendly.

Yelp
A couple of workers and I decided to try this restaurant based on the recommendation of a couple people and I was happy we went. We sat outside and the service was overall good. I had a bowl of seafood gumbo which was overall very good tasting. I think the shrimp had the shells still attached along with the legs so when I got to that part of the soup I just took out the shells from my mouth. I don't know if that's very typical or not but I don't want to eat the shells personally. I also had the barbecue drum fish with dirty rice and a plain salad. Their bread is wonderful tasting, almost like a nicely breaded grilled cheese flavor. The dirty rice was beautifully seasoned and had a nice taste. The fish was very well cooked and a good portion and again had great seasoning. No bones which was very nice. The salad was very plain. It just had lettuce and tomato. I would have liked a little bit more variety such as a little cheese or maybe some cucumber or carrots. A little bit costly at about $42 before tip but overall the flavors were good and the food was good and well cooked so a nice little treat for me. My coworkers enjoyed the food as well. I would come back if they don't raise the prices anymore.

Yelp
We came to town to see Miss Taylor Swift, and second to the Eras tour only, was this meal. Our server was a younger girl, and she was absolutely the greatest. Made amazing recommendations, the food was out of this world, and the portions were huge!!! The cheesy crawfish app is the best thing I've had in Louisiana... seriously will add this place to ALL of our Louisiana road trips in the future. Thanks for making our first time here epic, cannot wait to eat here again. Restaurant is clean and music was great. Place was packed but they handled it really well!

Yelp
Great food, drinks and service! We went to the restaurant twice while we were visiting Baton Rouge. Next time we visit, we will be back!

Yelp
Good food and fast service. It's hard to find parking but closer to I10. It is a great place for a quick lunch when you are driving by on i10. They have the best blue cheese for salad. The staff was friendly to give my dog water. Thank Yelp for another great find!!

Yelp
This is always a favorite for my family. Food never disappoints! We went for my moms birthday on a Saturday and service was still great even though they were packed! Food came out quick and hot. We tried several appetizers which included the fried crab fingers and sautéed crab fingers which both are a must get! Chargrilled oysters always good and the stuffed mushrooms was a hit! We had several entrees but to point out a few, I had the salmon which was perfect and I chose sweet potatoes as my side (very good and sweet). Others had the Cornish hen and a host of other seafood entrees. Everyone enjoyed there food. This restaurant is good for family and friends! We will be back!

Yelp
After going to an LSU football game, and looking for a bite to eat, my dad, husband, and I came to Parrain's. After a short wait, we were seated. Our server was very kind and attentive. To start, we shared an order of the crab, stuffed mushrooms, and the Boudin eggrolls. Both were absolutely delicious and hit the spot to take that edge of hunger off. We also had some corn and crab bisque, which was so creamy and full of flavor. For my entrée, I ordered the New Orleans BBQ shrimp, while my husband ordered the thinly sliced catfish. Everything was very very tasty and we left with full and happy bellies.

Yelp
We were craving oysters so we came to Parrain's to get our fix! These oysters are some of the best I've ever had! You can't go wrong! The bisque was creamy and delicious and the lava cake was super decadent. We will be coming back for our oyster fix!

Yelp
I really like the atmosphere at Parrain's. It's a quintessential Cajun restaurant with lots of good seafood and Louisiana dishes. Lots of great apps and entrees, just lots of rich things on the menu with all the cream/sauces and fried things. They have a nice outdoor patio area with TVs where you can bring your dog along. When I've brought mine all the wait staff loved him and made sure he had water! I really loved that.

Yelp
This place is freaking good. So good on fact I came here for lunch, then drove back for dinner. On the same day. I'm a glutton. What can I say. This place has a cramped parking lot. Which is a direct reflection on how popular and good it is. Everything I sampled was awesome. Sat at the bar and watched the guy shuck oysters fresh for tables. Bar guys were awesome and accommodating. For lunch I had the bbq shrimp. Now it's not normal bbq shrimp it's creole or Cajun style and it's just amazing. Have to try it. With that I had the chowder. Which was also just perfect. Also, their bread is just stupid delicious. For dinner I had the over portioned crusted flounder. Which was also, perfect. I want to come back to baton rouge for the sole reason of eating here. You should stop what you're doing if reading this and just show up already. You'll be thanking me you did.
