Every Coffee Bar in NYC’s West Village

"Formerly Toby’s, this coffee bar selling colorful bags of beans wears its Brooklyn heart on its sleeve. The coffee is fine, the breakfast selections exceptional, and the room one of the best in the neighborhood for hanging out with its views of bustling 7th Avenue South." - Robert Sietsema

"This is one of few places around that roasts their own beans, which are responsibly sourced from all over the globe. Formerly Toby’s Estate, all Partners locations (the other four are spread out between Williamsburg, Bushwick, the West Village, and Flatiron) are consistently simple and comfortable in design—think communal tables, couches, and excellent lighting. Yes, it’s a great set-up for work, but also worth stopping by on your day off for a simple and hearty lunch. (They also offer a random assortment of classes in everything from art to cupping.)"

Google
Cozy spot with top-notch cappuccinos—smooth, balanced, and strong. The white and dark chocolate cookie is the real star: crisp edges, soft center, perfectly sweet. Friendly, chill service and clean space. Outdoor seating is a vibe, especially on quiet Charles Street. Great place to pause, sip, and reset.

Google
Great coffee shop in West Village! Lovely outdoor seating area, and very pleasant atmosphere. The scrambled eggs avocado toast was good, not the best one I’ve ever had, but I really liked the bread. However their cold brew sesame latte was to die for! Would definitely get it again. Service was quick and nice! They also had several pastries that looked really good, will give it a try next time.

Google
Partners Coffee came recommended to me so I gave this location a shot. I like that they are a local roaster from Brooklyn and the cafe is a cozy urban setting, perfect for a morning cup of coffee. The day I visit it was actually pretty busy already and most of the tables inside were taken. The line to the cashier wasn’t too long and moved fast. I ordered the house drip coffee since it was my first time here. The coffee at first started out a little bitter and citrusy but as it cooled down and the milk mixed in more, it started tasting smooth and mellow. Not bad for the price overall.

Google
I’ve loved the Partners coffee I’ve had at other shops around New York, so I figured I better try it from the source - and it did not disappoint!! Be aware that there is minimal indoor seating (about 6 bar-style stools facing the window), but there are plenty of tables outdoors. There is no public restroom (even for customers). Staff is friendly and coffee is lovely!!

Google
Great location. Beautiful light. Nice working space and great coffee

Google
A more expensive coffee spot in the heart of West Village, however they don't charge extra for alternative milk (only have oat or almond) - which is a big deal these days. Lots of seating and laptop friendly attitude. A nice place to meet local villagers.

Google
Great coffee both cold and hot, I usually order black, and a good place to do work and relax. They do not have outlets anywhere, which is great because of the natural time limit people will have! Have not tried the food, but looks good every time I see people order it. Sit outside if you want to people watch, bring a book, enjoy the umbrellas or the covered area.

Google
Loved the cozy atmosphere and amazing coffee! Went for cappuccino, which was so good! My friend did try the hot chocolate with almond milk and swears she never had best hot chocolate ever! Definitely on my go-to list anytime I need to chill in a beautiful cafe. I also like the hours of operation, you're welcomed till 7 pm, which is great. Overall excellent experience and I recommend it to all coffee lovers.

Yelp
Like the cold brew and vibe. Grab a cup of joe, also some tasty treats. Enjoy and kick back

Yelp
this morning i walked to west village with my friend and we stopped in partners coffee for a snack and bevie. I got the almond croissant and cortado. The cortado was actually pretty good, great proportions of espresso to milk and it was the perfect temperature. The espresso tasted good / not burnt. The service was nice although my cortado took a while. The almond croissant was super average imo. It was a tiny bit dry and not as almondy as i was hoping for. then again I have a high bar for almond croissants in particular. The shop itself was super cute but it was a tiny bit crowded.

Yelp
Here on a rainy weekday. Surprisingly busy, but I was able to grab a table by the window as a single patron. Matcha super tasty and banana bread is outstanding (love mix-ins with nuts, craisins, etc.). Person who took my order at the front was very sweet and welcoming.
google avatar

Yelp
Decent flat white and some patio seating. Got an egg sandwich and the bread was solid and the eggs were fluffy. Downsides: Staff is unnecessarily rude and dour, the chairs inside aren't very comfortable, and the chairs and tables outside are at an angle due to the slope. Most bizarrely, the café doesn't hot sauce or the chipotle mayo sauces on the side despite a large array of breakfast sandwiches and wraps that can be on the drier side. Really random.

Nancy T.

Yelp
Wouldn't recommend actually doing work here. Coffee is good, pretty big space indoors and outdoors for NYC but AC is blasting & music was insanely loud, even with my noise cancelling headphones the music was unbearable, couldn't get any work done. A pity, it would've been my new favorite coffee shop.

Yelp
Coffee: 4.5/5 | Service: 4/5 | Ambience: 5/5 | Value: 4.7/5 I was walking to the 1 with no expectations other than needing a coffee and a sandwich ASAP. I was very pleasantly surprised! I usually just order a lattee and a cafe, BUT they had an Horchata Lattee....well an Oatchata (hehe); my little Mexican heart was exploding, I had to order it. Their sandwiches looked amazing so ordered one of them which was honestly one of the best breakfast sandwiches I've had in awhile. Every ingredient was thought out and their sauce was so good.

Yelp
Great customer service, great coffee, tasty treats. What's not to like? Love their beans.
google avatar

Yelp
it's so cute inside you feel like you came to The West village NYC! :) Outside seats are highly recommended when the weather is nice so colorful. I ordered Almost croissants. It was so delicious. They have self services for waters, napkins and drink tops if you need. I'll def come back.

Yelp
Yelp currently says this place opens at 8:30 am on Tuesdays, but they were open before 8 and told me they opened at 6. There's no indoor seating, at least not during Omicron times, and they have masks set out in case for some reason you come in without one. I had a very pretty flat white (no lid, but that was probably my oversight) and an excellent almond croissant.

Yelp
TL/DR: WOW. Probably the BEST breakfast sandwich/breakfast on-the-go I've ever had?! Insane because I eat a ton of these. The chai latte is delightful. ORDER + FIRST IMPRESSION: For $16, I bought a Bacon, Egg, & Cheese Sandwich (Scrambled Eggs, Bacon, Pepperjack Cheese, Jalapeno Mayo, Avocado on a Ciabatta Roll) and a small Chai Latte. The sandwich came with a tiny sauce cup of fresh berries! I ordered my food to go and the workers were thoughtful enough to put tape over the lid of my latte so it wouldn't spill as I left. The workers there are also so kind! The cafe is a cute place, but I wouldn't rely on it as an impromptu work spot. Few seating inside. The sandwich is HUGE. Basically the size of my face. I'm not exaggerating. Larger than your average burger. OVERALL MEAL RATING: 9.5/10 They really knew what they were doing when they came up with this sandwich! The chai latte sealed the meal. CHAI LATTE Warm and full of spice like all chai lattes! Ordered mine with oat milk for an extra 50 cents. SANDWICH Ciabatta Roll: Initially, I was apprehensive about the ciabatta roll because sometimes, this bread could be tough to eat and hard to bite through. But WOW. It was soft. Crispy on the outside and fluffy in the inside. Beautiful. Cheese: Pepperjack cheese. Loved the choice of this cheese. Brings nice heat. Jalapeno Mayo: I was scared about it at first but it's not terribly spicy! Did not make my mouth burn. Nice heat as well. Avocado: Great healthy fat (: Bacon: Beautifully cooked. I wish there was more bacon in this sandwich (which is why it's not a full 10/10). Eggs: The BEST scrambled eggs I've had!!! SO FLUFFY and held itself together throughout the whole sandwich. CLOSING REMARKS: The $16 were worth it. I wondered why I was paying $10.50 for their sandwich and now I understand! For how much they put into that sandwich, it makes sense. I'm definitely coming back again and again for this sandwich. The chai latte was a great cherry on top.

Yelp
Coffee: 4/5 | Service: 4/5 | Ambience: 4/5 | Value: 4/5 Partners Coffee is definitely top-notch, and their West Village location has a really nice vibe. It's definitely on the smaller side and seating options are limited, but it's an amazing work/study spot if you can manage to get a seat. Some of their coffee options were unavailable when I came in the other day, which was a bit disappointing, but I settled for an iced maple & sage latte. The flavor was pretty spot-on! It was definitely on the more expensive-side, but I feel like it's to be expected at a West Village cafe. Their regular Brooklyn blend drip coffee is good as well, although it's nothing particularly special. Overall, Partners is definitely worth a try, especially on a quieter day if you're able to sit down for a bit.

Yelp
Cozy cafe with decent coffee. I got a flat white and a couple of pastry items. The flat white was good, but the pastries were just your run-of-the-mill pastries. The kitchen closes at 2:45 (at least on Friday, when I went) so keep that in mind if you're looking at the food items! The atmosphere of the cafe itself was pretty nice. They have maybe ten seats in total inside and some more space outside!
google avatar

Laurence K.

Yelp
Very good coffee and pastries I wish I was more hungry I would've ordered more LOL staff was very nice and friendly definitely stop in if you're in the area

Yelp
Breakfast sandwich changed my life. Read it again. (The coffee is pretty decent too.)

Yelp
Adorable little village place with a great menu, fast service and cute little outside seating for nice days. Great place to drop by with a friend.
google avatar

Yelp
I used to come by when it was Toby's coffee and often enjoyed grabbing a latte or cappuccino. There was always friendly service and the coffee always hit the spot. I visited under the rebranding of Partners coffee and I would say the coffee is still solid but the vibe and service are not quite the same. I will still come by if I am in the area for a coffee to go.
google avatar

Jennifer A.

Yelp
The iced mint julep was really refreshing and not too sweet! It reminds me of the mint mojito at Philz Coffee. I enjoyed my drink in their outdoor seating, and I will say it made for a pleasant spot to sit and read my book. I will be coming back to try their other drinks!
google avatar

Aarti K.

Yelp
Solid cafe. They not only have coffee options, but also good food options. There's minimal seating inside, just by the windowsill, but they also have a few tables right outside. I think it's a good place to grab and go something to eat/ drink, but would not recommend coming here if you're looking for a cafe to get some work done. The space is somewhat small, and the wifi does not work.
google avatar

Chrissy L.

Yelp
This is a great cafe! They have wifi, bathroom, and spacious seating, which is a rare holy trinity in cafes in NYC. While the indoor space is limited and restricted for COVID, they have ample outdoor seating where the wifi also reaches. I had a hibiscus lemonade drink that was the right amount of tart with a strong berry-ish kick from the hibiscus. Can't wait to try their coffee next time.

Andy E.

Yelp
I live on the same block and this is one of the best parts of the neighborhood. Jules and Ash do an amazing job remembering everyone's names and their orders, it makes you feel loved. Oh, and the coffee is great too.
google avatar

Hannah R.

Yelp
Not only good coffee but great food too! The roasted chicken sandwich is delicious. Fairly large space to sit inside as well.
google avatar

Anthony L.

Yelp
Great little spot to stop and get some coffee while in the West Village. There isn't much room to hang out. I wouldn't recommend this as a place to hang out or get work done. But the coffee was great and the staff was friendly. Stop by and get a cup if you're in the area and need some fuel for exploring!
google avatar

Michelle T.

Yelp
I've been coming to this cafe every few months since it was Toby's Estate. They always had solid coffee, space to lounge and work, and a bathroom. Coffee shops with bathrooms are my favorite thing in the world! The other day, I was in the area trying to find Tobys and couldn't find it on the map. I had no idea it had changed names! The coffee bags in the store say same staff and same coffee, just a different name. I'm down with that! I had a cold brew and BF had a masala chai latte. Both were good. We were just really glad to be out of the rain! Plus, we wanted a place to chill for an hour or so before it was time for our plans. Throw in a bathroom and we were set for the next hour or so. Staff were nice and bathroom was clean. They're down the stairs though, so not disability friendly - for those who need an accessible bathrooms

Yelp
I really loved it in here today. The options between the coconut oatmeal, egg sandwiches, pastries, lattes, coffee, milk options (huge fan of oat milk!) The matcha latte was lovely with oat milk. The people that work here were very friendly, kind, hospitable. It was also nice and a personal touch to ask what my name is for my drink (outside of Starbucks). The seating inside is cozy and I really liked this.
google avatar

DJ K.

Yelp
This coffee shop is great for working in! Awesome lighting -- they have very big windows that create a great atmosphere. Their drinks are good! I've never had anything that's been mind-blowing, but nor have I ever been disappointed. The space is always very clean. They have: --WiFi --Restrooms Downstairs (Ask for the key) --No outlets for your phone/laptop. Which, is fine if you get there with a full battery -- and, as an optimist, it can kind of be a nice way of limiting how long you work for. I think getting there right when they open is the most optimal time. Staff has always been friendly and courteous.

Yelp
For the full experience: - get there early morning, before 10am - grab a newspaper and a sunny window seat - get a CINNAMON OR BLUEBERRY MEGPIE (a homemade poptart that's the best morsel of the food in the place) - you can't stay at the coffeeshop, WARM the megpie in your home microwave for a cinnamon roll-blueberry cobbler mind-trick - avoid the pricey coffee and get a tea, where they'll give you a fanciful full pot and whimsical cup and saucer The price/taste of coffee here is four stars, but the MEGPIE is five stars!!!
google avatar

Aubrey W.

Yelp
love this place! the coffee, sausage breakfast sandwich, and breakfast burrito are amazingggggg! the food is filling, fresh, and incredible. they're now allowing indoor seating so we got to enjoy our food and coffee inside! there is also plenty of outdoor seating available. i've had an iced coffee with almond milk and a hot almond milk latte and they're both some of the best coffees i've ever had! highly recommend!
google avatar

Gab G.

Yelp
Stopped in with my boyfriend for a quick breakfast one day and had a good experience. The egg on a roll is a bit pricey (almost $10 I believe) but delicious. Drip coffee is also great.
google avatar

Ruby D.

Yelp
I arrived a bit earlier than my boyfriend and asked if I could wait inside. The workers were patient and I sat myself down in the meantime. When he arrived, we ordered an avocado toast w/ eggs and acai bowl. We were given a card that they used to locate us once the food was ready. The toast dish was seasoned well and the acai bowl was refreshing. I'm loved the meal and will probably be back again to try the other things on their menu.
google avatar

Mike G.

Yelp
This coffee shop has great coffee and a hip atmosphere. The quality of espresso seems high. It's a great place to read or chat with friends, too. The only downside is that it's a very busy location and the seating can be limited due to how busy it is.

D.L. C.

Yelp
Stopped in here for a quick post-brunch coffee while visiting New York for a work trip. Very busy spot, with lots of great coffee options, and we were greeted by the very pleasant and charming Jules (I hope I got the name right). It was a bit packed indoors but the outdoor seating was charming and the temps began to warm a bit. I will definitely head back to this location.
google avatar

Alison W.

Yelp
Great spot! The coffe is flavorful and delicious and the staff is very friendly. Best of all, the coffee is very consistent. Every experience here is enjoyable from the aromas to the coffee taste!
google avatar

Abby Z.

Yelp
Sooo yummy! I was craving a breakfast sandwich and discovered Partners down the street from my place. I normally don't like pepper-jack cheese but the bacon, egg, avo, and cheese was amazing. So fresh and warm, the bread seemed like it just came out of the oven and the other ingredients were cooked perfectly. Definitely will be back!! Thank you!!!
google avatar

Ezra B.

Yelp
Came here multiple days to do work. Fantastic ambience...an adorable little place. Bathroom available and line is never too long. I got a chai latte with almond milk which was very satisfying. Only downside is that they close at 6, otherwise it is a great place to do work. Staff was friendly and service was efficient. Definitely recommend for work, meeting up with some friends, or just coming for a morning cup of joe.
google avatar

Grace Y.

Yelp
This place used to be Toby's Estate and is now renamed to Partners Coffee. There is relatively ample seating, all little tables and stools. The worst part about this place is that there is no bathroom, so you gotta hold in your pee and take it elsewhere after you finish the diuretic you purchased. They have oat milk woo. They were out of matcha when I came though :(

Patricia N.

Yelp
I love their coffee so much but don't order the breakfast burrito. Bacon was thrown in as if it was never even cooked and then I started hearing crunching and realized I was eating egg shell.... Last time I order a breakfast burrito in NY ‍
google avatar

Alexis S.

Yelp
I've been here multiple times and it's one of my favorite coffee shops to stop into when I'm in the area. It's pretty small, but has some tables and little stools to sit on. There are big windows that let in a lot of natural light, which is nice. They have a great selection of coffee/tea and pastries as well as some more savory items. If you're looking for a coffee shop with a cozy ambience, I would recommend this place!
google avatar

Mihael K.

Yelp
I had a pretty good cup of coffee here. There wasn't much seating in the place but their Brazil pour over was pretty solid for those who, like me, love dark and bitter black coffee. It wasn't as strong as it could have been but it was enough to give me my caffeine fix while tasting decent. The atmosphere of Toby's is very quiet. There isn't much seating but it wasn't very crowded when I got there, so it was a perfect place to get some work done or have a subdued conversation with friends. The location is incredibly convenient. I didn't try the food but they had some interesting options that I might try in the future if I were in the area. They were out of acai bowls though, so make note if you are coming for that, you might want to check in advance if they have them that day.
google avatar

Linda C.

Yelp
Cute little spot in West Village for coffee. Stopped in for a cappuccino. Great flavor, coffee comes from Brooklyn. Barista was extremely friendly (cute!), and informative as it visiting from out of state.
google avatar

Vincent T.

Yelp
My first time here and I'm a fan! I had a iced mocha and their raspberry tart. I had an iced mocha for the first time and I ask myself why I haven't ordered it before this day! It is a really good alternative to coffee if you can't deal with the strong, sometimes nauseating effects of coffee. The iced mocha is perfect for a hot 70-80 degree day in New York and it's sweet, but not too sweet to make you feel unhealthy. The tart was okay, nothing special, similar to a poptart. The space here is great, however, it is quite small and hard to move around. There are several work spaces from tables to counters to bars by the window.
google avatar

Elizabeth K.

Yelp
Really friendly and quick service - their cold brew and iced tea is a little pricy but so worth it. It's in a great location and has plenty of seating for the space.

amanda h.

Yelp
I'm writing this review based on the terrible service that I received here today (9/10/22). I frequent Partners because I love the coffee and the ambiance but the treatment by a barista today was so bad that I feel the need to hopefully let management know. I work in customer service and go out of my way to treat anyone working in the service industry overly nicely, so I can tell you that my requests were polite and I felt bad to start even asking for my drink to be remade. I ordered a cold brew with a splash of regular milk. I walked to the counter where drinks are served and a cup of mostly milk was sitting there, nothing had been said so I asked the barista if that was the cold brew with a splash of milk. They said yes and I said I'm sorry but would you please make me one with a lot less milk, I just wanted literally a splash. They then came back with a cold brew and let a DROP of milk fall into the cup (very petty) and I smiled and said can I just have a normal splash. Then they gave me the cup and it still had a lot of room in it and I said sorry but would you mind topping it off so it's full. They walked away without saying anything, then looked at the cup and gave it back to me refusing to put any more cold brew in and said it IS full and walked away before I could say anything. Not only was this beyond rude and unnecessary but I left feeling like shit when I was just trying to get myself a treat at a place i normally feel welcome and love. This barista had bob length curly hair in a half pony tail today. I attached a photo to show how there was clearly a lot of room in the cup because I was so frustrated at that point, not that it even matters. I won't ever be coming back into partners if I see this person working and I can assume I'm not the only customer they are treating poorly.

Yelp
We had a wonderful little pit stop here for coffee, açaí bowls, & a matcha strawberry lemonade. Not much seating but everything we had was wonderful! They have gluten free cookies as well.
google avatar

Will C.

Yelp
Good coffee, fun vibe. This would make a great people-watching spot in the West Village. Stopped here after brunch for an iced americano to go. They use the tablet cashier system which is always a little weird since they spin the stand and your receipt and tip are right there in their face as they begin to take your order. The coffee was quickly made, the barista was a little hesitant when I asked for the almond milk. Simple syrup was available at the sidebar. Self-served. There were also quite a few patrons looking for barista-like jobs in the establishment.
google avatar

Sharon C.

Yelp
Toby's Estate is probably my favorite coffee shop in the area so far. Having to work remotely, this location has plentiful seating and a very chill environment. I visited this location about 3 days in a row because it was just that great and even when it was really busy--there was always seating! Also--the wifi is really reliable if you're looking for a good place to do work! I've tried the cold brew here which I enjoyed and is a great morning pick me up. If you're looking for something more refreshing and are not in the mood for coffee, try the Arnold Palmer!
google avatar

Thomas C.

Yelp
It's always an adventure.. You have to come here, if not for the coffee, for the adventure.. I'm not a pretentious coffee snob.. Thanks to yelp for advocating!. I couldn't understand all of the people who loved drinking coffee everyday.
google avatar

Alexandra L.

Yelp
The Quick: Cozy spot to get a great cappuccino (or as my friends call it, "coffee art"). The Details: Toby's is the kind if place you would want to spend an hour enjoying the great tunes, mellow vibes, and friendly wait staff. I recommend a seat by the window--- perfect for people watching. For those espresso fans out there, my boyfriend said his was fantastic. The Damage: It's a bit pricey so I wouldn't recommend this as a "to-go" spot. Worth sitting down and enjoying your beverage of choice.
google avatar

Arya B.

Yelp
Capacity: about 25 Free wifi No electric plugs Bathroom Large windows, well-lit One couch Ok decoration, baristas, coffee
google avatar

Cindy C.

Yelp
Really want to give them five stars, the fifth one is because of the wifi... I am glad that they offer wifi in this spot but I have to say the signal sucks. It's a good place for chilling with friends, studying, working, or just for coffee. Nice location in west village, highly recommend! Tips: you can hardly find the plug to charge your laptop or phone. I found one under the sofa, it's kinda deep inside. Hope this would be useful for people in need lol
