Party Cake Bakery Miller Road Review - Sunset - Miami - The Infatuation

"When our Cuban dad pronounces this bakery’s name, it sounds like “patty cake” and now we can’t stop calling it that too. Their Miller location is so big, you could throw a DJ behind the deli counter and turn the place into a nightclub (there’s already a little corner with armchairs and a table full of newspapers surrounded by stanchions—perfect for a VIP abuelito section). The bakery is set up like a restaurant, with tables and a long banquette where you can sit down and eat media noche sandwiches. If you’re looking for a quick snack, we love the croquetas de la casa, and their pastelitos de guayaba y queso are some of the flakiest we’ve ever eaten." - Virginia Otazo

We were on a private tour and this was one of the stops to try the Cuban coffee ☕️ and grab a quick snack. The coffee is delicious 😋 and the chicken empanadas was also tasty. We also tried a lemon dessert which was very lemony, great texture also. Now let me tell you about the fresh squeezed orange juice. When I tell you it tasty like you're eating an 🍊, nothing added. The machine they use is right behind the register. The prices are amazing also! The wallpaper is flamingos and it goes all the way I to the restrooms. The restroom was clean as well.

I love Cuban bakeries! Excellent cheese rolls & guava roll pastries!!!! A bit expensive ($13 for 4x cheese rolls + 2 cheese/guava rolls). But we came all this way to enjoy ourselves!

Google
Hands down the best bakery for delicious Cuban pastries, food and cafe! Every vacation to FL this is the one stop we must make. Now I have never been to Cuba, but have tried lots of Cuban cuisine and I can say that the food here is amazing and probably as authentic as you can get.

Google
I tried the fish croquette, guava pastry, turron cake, flan, tres leches, and fruit tart. Every single food we had was delicious, my favorites are the turron cake and the tres leches cake. Lastly, The story of how the restaurant originated is very inspiring.

Google
Stopped in for a coffee, fell in love with the best croissant I think I’ve had in the US. With a perfect note of sweetness, I would have gone back for half a dozen if I weren’t lacking time. The staff was really nice, the coffee was amazing and the baguette sandwich was very good as well. This is a definitely a highlight of Little Havana. Oh, and there were roaming chickens outside. Who doesn’t love chickens?

Google
This bakery is divine! The guava and cheese pastry is life changing! I've fallen in love and will be back. I was surprised how incredibly afforadable the pastries were. We were able to purchase 3 pastries for under $5. I'm not sure where else that's possible. In the 3 days we were in Miami, we went to this bakery twice! Don't skip this one.

Yelp
The displays of treats looked amazing! We knew we had to come back after lunch to grab some. What we got: Mini Fruit tart: this was pretty good! My fav out of the 4. Custard was tasty, crust was a good consistency and fruit were good. Key lime tart: a little too sweet. Needs more tart. Chocolate treat: my daughter said it was ok and she is a chocolate lover. Flan: this was very sweet and texture was thick. These were 3-4 bucks a piece.

Yelp
I always enjoy a stop here to take in the cuban food, pastries and cuban coffee. The story goes the founders worked at the Publix Grocery Store before starting this successful local miami chain. Overall the food is tasty but the service is wildly slow and inefficient. I speak Spanish so that was very helpful as most of the staff does not speak English or very limited at that. I ordered about a half dozen of things but my server forgot about two thirds of the items. The cuban coffee was delicious along with all the treats. There is no ambiance to speak of as the bakery is a grab and go. It's a good bakery in Little Havana but come with patience when your order. The Guava pastry, croquettas, strawberry cheesecake and vanilla cookies were all hits with my family.

Yelp
I love this place but was very disappointed in my last visit. I ordered a breakfast meal which was subpar at best. I was so sad because I usually love their breakfast! We also waited what felt like forever to get a simple order for a pan con bistec and breakfast (egg, bacon, and tostada). I guess because it is a touristy area they get very busy during certain times. I would highly recommend getting their pastries or croquetas because to me they have the best in Miami! Only other thing to note is there's barely any seating while you wait for food.

Yelp
I was craving cafe con leche and pastelito de guava con queso we found this little spot on the corner of Calle 8 the pastry was fresh and warm so delicious my hubby had the breakfast which was good we spent less than $20 for breakfast, pastry and 2 coffees very reasonable it's a good place to grab cheap eats

Yelp
Stopped in for some Cuban pastries. We got a selection of pastries for less than $10. No complaints and worth the walk!

Yelp
So much Cuban pastries and deserts. If you have a sweet tooth, this is the place to go. They also serve Cuban coffee. The service was fast. The guava pastry was so delicious .

Yelp
Hopping little bakery and cafe stop. Pastries and Cuban sandwiches are a must grab. Coffee is Bustelo. Staff are busy making sure orders are being pumped out for the lines that were wrapped around and outside, but the wait was short. Cute seating area inside and out. Beware, the tour groups stop here but they come and go and they have separate staff helping and serving them. Great spot and must try! They have free WiFi and clean bathrooms for guests.

Yelp
Party Cake Bakery is a bakery located in Little Havana on Calle 8. The genesis for this bakery began in the 1980's when Olga and Juan Montano found their passion in the baking industry. Olga, from Las Tunas, Cuba, grew up decorating cakes with her grandmother Aida. She became a cake decorator for Publix Supermarkets where she hosted grand openings and made commercials for the company. Her husband Juan from Pinar del Rio, Cuba, became interested in baking while making deliveries for a Miami French bakery. After studying the pastry chefs at the bakery he also became a pastry chef. He got a job a Publix which is where he met Olga. After 10 years of working for Publix the couple realized their dream of opening their own 1,300 square foot bakery on May 1st, 1993, on the west side of Miami. From these humble beginnings the family has expanded to 13 Party Cake Bakeries throughout Miami. This Party Cake Bakery is located in Little Havana beneath the Celia Cruz mural. They are famous for their ham and beef croquetas and pastelitos de guayaba with a cafe con leche. Their extensive collection of desserts include natilla, tres leches, and arroz con leche. I stopped in for pastelitos, puff pastries filled with sweet and savory fillings. It might actually be illegal to leave Little Havana without them and I certainly don't want to break the law. I got my box of excellent cheese and guava which I kindly shared with my family and which made them very happy.

Yelp
Service was nice and quick. The place smelled sweet as we walked in and it was full of all the sweets you could want. Even tried a Cuban coffee. The pastry's guava and guava with cream cheese so good. The croissant was really good with a hint of sugar.

Yelp
Dropped in for a quick empanada and a couple of croquettes. Lots of options, plenty of seating and staff. They served me quickly and the quick bites looks to be fresh and tasted good.

Yelp
If you're looking for the BEST guava and cheese pastelitos, you're here, you've arrived, don't leave! I had been craving nonstop a good guava and cheese pastelito since I breathed the airplane smell at the airport when you service. So the urge to get a pastelito in Calle Ocho was a must for me. Where will I find the best one? That was my mission. And my mission was accomplished. The awesome friends at La Colada gourmet left us with a delicious Cuban coffee taste and the awesome girl at Dos Croquetas told us exactly where to find what our pastelito craving was needing. Here we were, at the best spot to get any Cuban pastry your heart desires but my heart desired just one specific one. Because we had already been snacking around and were about to have lunch, I only had room in my belly for one of these cheesy guava delights. Sadly, I made the mistake of NOT taking a whole tray to go which I still regret. What I don't regret, is that delicious guava and cheese that lives rent free in my taste buds. If you're craving just one, I recommend getting 10. So you have some for later

Yelp
A galore of amazing pastries and other baked items. This was the very first store I spotted as soon as I arrived in Little Havana. Pastries displayed in this store will attract anyone walking by. This place was packed and had to wait for almost 20 minutes to place our orders. So many options - Pastries, Croquettes, Pastelitos, Cuban coffees, juices, sandwiches. We ordered a few types of croquettes, pastelitos and pastries - both sweet and savory! Omg. Delicious! It's quite amazing that they are so cheap and better quality than some of my local bakeries! Luckily we found a table inside itself. We took our time to enjoy the pastries. Also ordered the fresh orange juice. Must say the most refreshing thing to have on a sunny day! We also picked up a few pastries on our way out! We also learned that they are a 30 year old establishment and have other branches across Miami. Even though we planned to visit some other close by location, that really didn't work out! Next time!

Yelp
Loved my treat here! I'm not sure what the tasty treat I had was called but wow - it was amazing. It had a custard layer, a cracker-like layer and a caramelly topping. So good! Americano coffees were good too.

Yelp
Friendly staff and a wide assortment of treats. They were all delicious and relativity affordable. There was a decent amount of seating available as well. The mango smoothie we got was refreshing in the hot weather. The potato croquette was fresh and not too greasy. The pastelitos were flaky and sweet.
google avatar

Yelp
If you're in need of a little treat stop by here for a delicious and flaky pastelito. I got the guava and cheese and it was sweet and an absolutely perfect sweet treat for the afternoon. They also have. A variety of other delicious looking pastries that I'm sure taste as good as they look.

Yelp
A very small and cute bakery. Lots of sweets to choose from. I got the crème brûlée, it was sweet and had a nice caramelization. It was about four dollars. Cool shop to check out if you're in the area. Desert: 7.2 Staff/service: n/a Overall: 7.2/10

Yelp
For a quick bite or to go order, this place seemed to stand out. Gorgeous cases of Cuban pastries and sandwiches. We grabbed a few things to go on our way to the airport. The guava pastry was light and flaky with just the right amount of filling and not too sweet. The Cuban sandwich was rich and satisfying, transporting you to another world if you closed your eyes. And it was HUGE, almost enough for 2 if you were willing to share. I wasn't. Highly recommend. Very close to the airport so if you have an hour or so, it's a lovely and unique neighborhood with interesting sites, people and delicious food.

Yelp
I tried their Guava Pastry, wow it was delicious! Everything here looked great. I'm definitely going to to go back to try their other deserts.

Yelp
I have tried many Cuban bakeries during my time here in Miami. I was expecting average baked goodies. But these were NOT average. The guava and cheese pastelitos are the best that I have had ! I recommend getting a box of mini cakes to go. The eclairs were super yum as well. The cafe con leche was on point also. Located on 8th street. Definitely coming back for those pastelitos !

Yelp
Exquisite selection of baked goods! [Little Havana, Miami] I noticed this bakery the first time when I saw the beautiful pastries displayed on their window while they were making them but we didn't stop by inside. When we returned the following day through the Big Bus tours we hopped off at Little Havana and we decided to get some goodies this time. The bus dropped us off right in front of the bakery (or close by... I can't recall). My eyes lit up like a small kid's first time inside a toy store. The cake pastries were just beautifully made and I thought of my youngest when I saw the fruit tarts (her favorite). We chose chicken empanadas, butter croissant and pan de huevos (ham). The staff were courteous and nice. After I paid at the cash register I was given my bag not realizing I was missing other items in it. I didn't understand the nice lady who helped me when she spoke to me in Cuban. After paying we walked outside and proceeded to wait for the Big Bus to pick us up... moments later she comes outside and hands me another paper bag... it was the empanadas. Oh okay, Thank you!!! Then shortly after again she comes running out... she hands me another bag and it was the ham and egg sandwich. I guess I should check my items more carefully next time but I appreciate the honesty of the staff. Everything was delicious!! Review #2892

Yelp
We were taken here on a food tour of Little Havana, and it was so good we ended up coming back twice to load up on more goodies, including taking some extras for back home! I absolutely loved the guava cheese pastelitos, and also quite enjoyed the chicken empanadas, and the house croquettes. It's a very popular place, so unfortunately a lot of things we tried to order were out of stock. Regardless, everything we tried was good if not outstanding, and quite reasonably priced as well. Would definitely recommend coming, and I would happily make a detour to come back here next time I'm in Miami.

Yelp
We stopped by for some pastries on a Saturday evening and the place was basically empty sans the people working behind the counter. They had a good variety of pastries and desserts as well as other types of food, however the price wasn't very clear which was a bit confusing. Nonetheless, we were in and out within a few minutes (the staff weren't the nicest, but they got the job done quickly). I got the key lime mini tart they had and it was pretty delicious. I think it was well-made, especially since I had it the next day. Overall, good spot for desserts or if you're looking for something sweet. Don't expect amazing service, but the baked goods are decent and satisfied my craving!

Yelp
Coffee. Pastries. All amazing. I only bought one coconut croissant. I wish I had bought a few to go home with.

Yelp
Decent place that had a real chain type feel to it. You could tell the women working here hate their job as the place seems like it must be busy most of the time. No hustle whatsoever for anyone working in the place. Sigh. So, saying that, it took us a good 20 minutes to get our 2 Cuban sandwiches and a couple of pre made pastries. The line moved very slow and they only had 1 women taking and making orders at a time and 1 other woman working the cash register. The food we ordered was fine, but totally forgettable. Our tab for 2 sandwiches and 2 small pastries was about 20 dollars, so it didn't break the bank. Also, be aware, seating is quite limited and there's a homeless element outside. Pet some roosters too!

Yelp
Very tasty pastries in lil Havana and an awesome mural outside. The staff was awesome too

Yelp
On a recent visit to Little Havana in Miami, I visited this bakery with a walking food tour group. Our guide recommended two items specifically: croqueta and guava pastelito. We were given an opportunity to try both. The croqueta looks like a fat fried mozzarella stick, but softer and not as crusty or crunchy. Inside is a creamy, whipped potato filling. This is a savory item and slightly salty. The guava pastelito is a bit like eating layers of flaky, buttery croissant almost like a filo crust with a bright red, sweet guava jam filling. Both were tasty, but this was one of the last stops on our food tour. We were all pretty stuffed at this point. There were several tables and chairs for people, but not enough for our group. People coming in were guided by a velvet rope line so they could order, put items in their tray and then slide their tray down the rails to pay at the register. There were benches just outside that were occupied, but it would have been a great place to sit and enjoy a savory sandwich or sweet snack while reading the owners' story on the plaque out the side door.

Yelp
I stopped here unintentionally. I was initially just captivated by the live chickens walking around the bushes outside the bakery. After admiring them I kept walking and was drawn to their sandwiches. I did have plans to eat somewhere else on calle ocho but I couldn't resist their Cuban sandwich. I ordered one and it came out in about 7-10 minutes. It had ham, pulled pork, cheese, mustard, and pickles all inside Cuban bread. Ordering was easy and all the staff were super helpful. The sandwich was a good portion (approximately 8 inches long, then cut in half). It filled me just enough. The cheese was melted perfectly. The bread was toasted to golden perfection, no burnt spots and crunchy. The ham and pulled pork were very tasty and although it didn't have too much of each ingredient, I sort of preferred it that way so I could taste everything equally. I think it was a bit flatter than most pictures I've seen of cuban sandwiches but because the ratios of everything was about equal I was happy with the taste. I know this is not customary to the Cuban sandwich but some Mayo would've been excellent. I did think it was a bit dry which was the only critique I have. Overall I enjoyed every aspect of my visit; the staff, the chickens, the ambiance, the bakery items displayed, the cleanliness (including bathrooms), and the price ($7-$8).

Yelp
First time here and it was so amazing we came back the next day. Their savory items are so good! Service was nice on a weekday vs weekend.

Yelp
A friend and I decided to explore Little Havana on our recent trip to Florida and stopped here to try the infamous Cuban Guava and Cheese pastries. When we walked inside, the place looked like a commercial donut shop... not an authentic Cuban place or some place to write home about. The pastries were reasonably priced and looked like they all would taste good, but again looked very commercial (like they churn them out left and right.... or that they order them in). Not wanting to order just one thing... we ordered the coconut pastry as well and decided to each eat half (of each of the pastries). The guava cheese was pretty good, but the coconut was bland and disappointing. If the place was a bit more authentic to the area, I could've gotten past that as a trade off but really just wasn't impressed. The pros is that they have a large selection, the best prices on the street and they are clean but the cons are that you don't have anything that really ties the place to the area and the pastries taste like something you can pick up at a grocery store.

Yelp
Stopped in here while waiting for our bus, and I was so glad we did! Little bits of heaven in a pastry shell! Highly recommend!

Yelp
The party cake bakery is a Miami staple. They offer great pastries, cakes, sandwiches, coffee and other desserts at a good price. The place is nice and clean and the service is good. I would definitely recommend this bakery over some of the competition.

Yelp
Walked past this bakery while looking for place for lunch and knew I had to go back. Large store front windows reveal homemade breads, cakes, pastry and sweets being made on site. A good number of customers inside also signaled good things for sale. "Follow the crowd" and "Look for the lines." Staff were hustling to wait on customers and taking time to answer questions, but not all staff spoke English- like the sweet lady who waited on me. She tried to get someone to tell me what a certain pastry had inside, but I ended up just "going with my gut" and getting what caught my eye. I just pointed and got two of each and upon tasting while waiting for Café Americano one was a fantastic, flaky croissant dough with custard cream inside and turbanado auger outside giving it a delicate crunch/ chew of flavor. The other choice was a yeast type dough wrapped around what appeared to be a pice of ham and a jam for a sweet- savory delight. Prices were very affordable for items of high quality ingredients and high satisfaction! You should definitely stop in to treat yourself to have something there and to take home.

Yelp
This was my least favorite shop that I have been to during my short Miami trip last week. Ordered some flan, it was okay, good texture, but nothing too impressive. The shop was extremely dirty, nobody take out the trash or wipe tables; I have to wipe the table myself. Staff was a bit rude.
google avatar

Holmes B.

Yelp
I've been here a few times and the service has been some of the best in the area. Not sure why their rating is so low but the food here is pretty good. Pastries are always fresh as well as the sandwiches and prices aren't inadequate for the quality and portion size. This bakery is one of the better ones in Calle Ocho. I've tried several pastries that were delectable, the breakfast sandwiches are really really good especially the omelette sandwiches. I've also tried their shakes and I've had no complaints. The Cuban coffee could use some work but I think is more of a brand issue than the art of making it or the equipment for that matter. There's plenty of parking in the area so that's not an issue and the place is nicely decorated so not sure why they're not a solid 4 star rated bakery but what can you do, everyone has an opinion and a unique experience when visiting an establishment.

Yelp
First time visiting PCB and the first time in Little Havana. I went totally on visual selection (not knowing what everything was), and it was total success. Everything was delicious and perfect. Very reasonable prices and helpful service offered.

Yelp
This is a cute little bakery with several options. The price is too less for the taste they offer. Loved their croissants. Price-5 star Taste-5 star Ambience-4 star Service-5 star Overall a 5 star place. Highly recommended.

Yelp
Great place to eat and try new food. Took a food tour that stopped here. It was the best stop on the tour.

Yelp
This place needs more reviews! Located at one end of Calle Ocho, it's a great spot to stop for some pastries. They have a variety of Cuban pastries and they all look so good! There are other bakeries in the area but we found that this one had the most seating. They don't have the largest selection of pastries but it's still a nice spot to pass by.
google avatar

Yelp
Went to this location for pastries as I have since they have opened! It's sad to see a location that once was delicious, consistent with delivery of fresh and perfectly cooked pastries and desserts to now burnt and dried out pastries. The care is gone. The customer service is horrible. Went to get pastries today and they were burnt. There were flies all over the food. For a top tourist place this is a shame. Thought I would give it another chance today, but it was not good. Previously called the management team; Hilda was suppose to call back. They didn't. It's like they don't care. It is such a horrible situation to see such a nice place in the heart of 8th street, go down hill so quickly. What once was a fantastic bakery to go to is now a bakery I advise so many to not go to. Lack of follow up from management shows they do not care. If your looking for a shop to get a great pastry, I would suggest going elsewhere until this location begins to care again.

Yelp
This bakery is great! We ordered some pastries- guava, cheese pastelitos, croquetas, little sandwiches- cheese and ham, and ham paste- all were delicious! They have many other items on the menu, and really good Cuban coffee. I'd definitely recommend this place to eat there or order for a party.

Yelp
I've come here several times in the past few weeks, ordering an assortment of things and usually spending $20 - $40. The pastelitos and croquetas are pretty much the same as in any other Cuban bakery - 'good enough.' (The meat in the pastelitos is a bit too pink but that is sometimes found in pastelitos and varies by bakery.) Don't let the lines fool you -- it seems to me that about 90% of its customers are tourists. It has business due to its location, not due to its product - i.e., a tourist trap. Still, the product is good enough and the desserts are tasty. Well, today was an eye-opener. ***If you want croquetas that are FREEZING COLD IN THE CENTER and INEDIBLE, this is your spot.*** As part of my order today, I ordered 12 croquetas de jamon (ham croquettes). The wait was longer than even usual (did I mention the employees here are often conversing and joking with each other and seem annoyed to have to stop chatting and take your order? Good luck even getting their attention). They finally then mentioned the long wait because they were frying the ham croquetas, as they had run out. No problem. So I waited and ultimately received my order. I then sat down outside to have one of the croquetas before driving away, and... I honestly want to throw up even thinking about it... the center inside FREEZING COLD inside and HARD... (i.e., NOT READY FOR CONSUMPTION). Picture a TV dinner that you didn't leave in the microwave long enough and the center is still freezing. I tried not to gag. I went back in and, discretely/politely (so that other customers would not hear) informed the cashier (whom I'd paid and tipped),"I think the croquetas weren't ready. They're freezing cold in the middle." Hang on for the best part -- SHE TELLS ME THAT'S WHAT CROQUETAS ARE LIKE! (Hm, I'm a Cuban American who's been eating croquetas her entire life. No, croquetas are not 'cold' in the center. This is like telling someone a steak that is freezing cold in the middle is totally normal and "that's how it's served." Only after I insisted did she begrudgingly tell the lady who was deep-frying... to fry them some more. That employee had nearly as bad an attitude (awful) and was giving off the 'Hm, just eat your croquetas freezing cold and hard, lady' vibe. When she gave them back to me, she just merely pushed them towards me on the counter, without any "Sorry, for giving you disgusting, frozen, inedible food." So anyway, if you like your meat freezing cold and hard inside, definitely order here. Also, if you like the worst customer-service imaginable, you will enjoy this place. Good luck getting the attention of the employees.

Yelp
Hello owner, I was here this morning having my breakfast and bought my eggs with toast And 1 croissant with ham and cheese to go and the lady at the counter add 1 more and when paying I realize I was charged $28.00 and of course I say thing but the cashier argue with me that I did not say nothing when I payed. Just to let you know the cashier was very rude and unrespectful with me and the client and is my money that I'm buying my breakfast she did not wanted to give me a refund on the 2 croissant that I did not buy just asked for 1. Very disappointed and never going back. Claudia 786 416-4102

Yelp
Me and my husband stop by and the young worker was so rude to us. I noticed we were the only black people in and was the only ones getting this treatment after asking about a couple of the pastries. Her attitude was so nasty we walked right out and I wrote this right away.

Yelp
enjoyed the tart but the crust was so hard to cut empanada was dry the Cuban we ordered wasn't in our order - big miss!
