The 38 Best Kuala Lumpur Restaurants | Eater

"Every Wednesday as the sun sets, rows upon rows of stalls spring to life over a mile-long stretch of road, selling clothing, accessories, bags, handicrafts, and, of course, street food until midnight. Pre-pandemic, there were sometimes more than 700 stalls in attendance; these days, about half remain (though more are slowly returning). Still, it’s the biggest night market in the city, with a vast array of local favorites. Though individual stalls tend to come and go, you’ll likely find an endless list of local snacks, including rojak, chendol, cute multicolored steamed buns filled with chocolate or red beans, and an all-time-favorite: crispy deep-fried chicken doused in an extremely addictive salted egg yolk sauce. Set aside a minimum of two hours and an empty stomach. [$]" - Ian Poh Jin Tze

A Debatable Encyclopedia of Drunk Food

"In Kuala Lumpur, try the Taman Connaught Night Market, open every Wednesday night until midnight; in Bangkok, perhaps the global capital of late-night street snacks, the Talat Rot Fai Ratchada night market is a good place to start."

Massive night market that’s super popular every Wednesday in Cheras! It stretches really long, like 2km, with non-stop stalls selling all kinds of street food, snacks, clothes, phone accessories, you name it. Tried the stinky tofu, fried carrot cake, and bubble tea, all worth the calories 😋 It does get super packed, so come early if you want to beat the crowd. Great vibes, lots to see, smell, and eat. A fun weekday outing if you're in the area!

Parking is hard to find, and if you’re driving, using Google Maps for navigation is more accurate. There are more Chinese snacks than local delicacies. Everything I bought turned out to be a disappointment — I ended up with an upset stomach and threw it all up in the middle of the night.

Visiting Pasar Malam Taman Connaught wasn’t just a food trip — it was an experience that touched all five senses and left a lasting memory in my heart. Spanning nearly 2 kilometers, this is not your average night market. The moment I stepped in, I was greeted by a sea of people, sizzling sounds from hot woks, vibrant neon signs, and the rich, mouth-watering aroma of countless street food stalls. It felt like walking into a celebration of Malaysia’s diversity — Chinese, Malay, Indian, and even Thai and Korean influences all blending harmoniously. What made it truly magical? The energy. Every stall owner had a smile, every dish had a story, and every bite felt like a piece of local love. 🍢 Must-try foods? Grilled satay with smoky peanut sauce Crispy fried oyster omelette (oh chien) Freshly steamed dim sum The unforgettable stinky tofu — a bold choice, but worth the adventure! And it’s not just food. There are trendy clothes, handmade accessories, quirky phone gadgets, and even traditional Chinese remedies being sold — each corner a little surprise. 💡 Tips: Go early (around 5:30–6:00 PM) to beat the crowd. Wear light clothes and comfy shoes — it gets hot and packed! Bring cash (small bills) and come hungry! But more than anything, what touched me was how alive this place felt. Locals laughing over skewers, families strolling together, tourists wide-eyed with wonder — it was like a heartbeat of the city pulsing through this long stretch of stalls. If you truly want to feel the soul of Kuala Lumpur, skip the malls and come here on a Wednesday night. Pasar Malam Taman Connaught is more than just a market — it’s a celebration of flavors, culture, and connection.

This is probably the largest night market in KL, stretching as far as the eye can see. It’s mainly a street food market, offering a huge variety of delicious food. In between the food stalls, you'll also find a few selling toys, hardware, clothing, home furnishings, and phone accessories — something I haven’t seen in other night markets in Malaysia before. A bustling, vibrant spot that’s definitely worth a visit if you love street food!

It is a great experience. Maybe it’s about food preference but I find their food kinda bland and lack seasoning. But their tanghulu is so good!

Great food and loads of choice. Longest street food market in Malaysia (2km) and you can tell.

The walkway is too narrow for the crowd. The street is cramp and stuffy. Prepare to perspire hell alot if you plan to visit. Prices are more expensive than expected. Probably because many visitors are tourists. If you are looking for street food, you will find plenty here but I find that not many are authentic local food. Many are non-local like tiramisu, specialty pastries, mala (Szechuan), etc. It feels like 80% of the stalls are food rather than stuffs you can find in night markets elsewhere.

If you’re a foodie looking for a vibrant and delicious experience in Kuala Lumpur, Taman Connaught Night Market is a must-visit. Stretching over two kilometers, this bustling market comes alive every Wednesday evening, offering a dizzying variety of street food that will satisfy every craving. From local Malaysian delights to international flavors, the food scene here is diverse and exciting. A must-try is the stinky tofu, a popular Taiwanese snack with a crispy exterior and a bold, pungent aroma that true food lovers appreciate. For those who prefer something milder, the grilled squid, slathered in savory sauces, is a fantastic option. Another standout is the Thai milk tea, rich and creamy, perfect for cooling down after indulging in spicy dishes. Sweet-toothed visitors will love the cheese tarts, mochi, and rainbow-colored apam balik (crispy pancake), all freshly made and bursting with flavor. Don’t miss the dragon’s breath snacks, which release puffs of smoke as you eat them, adding a fun and Instagram-worthy moment to your food adventure. One of the best things about Taman Connaught Night Market is its affordability—most dishes are budget-friendly, making it easy to sample a variety of foods without breaking the bank. The only downside? The crowd. The market can get incredibly packed, so it’s best to arrive early to avoid long queues. Overall, Taman Connaught Night Market is a paradise for street food lovers. Whether you're after local Malaysian delicacies or trendy international snacks, this night market offers a feast for the senses. Just come hungry and ready to explore!

Yelp
The Taman Connaught Night Market (康樂夜市) is quite far from city centre, and therefore it's less well-known among tourists. This is precisely why this night market is perhaps the best in Kuala Lumpur, where it's mainly consisted of locals and authentic, price-friendly food. This is also the largest night market in Kuala Lumpur. Unlike Jalan Alor (阿羅街), which is basically an outdoor food court (not night market), the Taman Connaught is legit, where it's filled with vendors selling night market food/snacks, not restaurants. There are two types of night markets, one being "food market", and one being "shopping" market. Taman Connaught is a "food" night market so you would mainly come here for cheap food and snacks. There are many Taiwanese, Chinese and Malaysian food here. For example, you can find Nasi Lemak, Laksa, Hokkien Prawn Mee, Hong Kong dimsum/BBQ, Taiwanese sausages, stinky tofu, skewers/satay, and all kinds of juices and drinks. However, some of the stalls repeat so you'd see the same thing over the long night market. Do be aware that it only opens on Wednesdays and the location is quite hard to access. I'd recommend doing Grab to there and back so it's safer. This night market is very authentic and is a must if you are here on a Wednesday. Much better than Jalan Alor.

Yelp
First time here in Malaysia and a local driver suggested we check this out where locals come. We took a Grab taxi here since parking is a pain. This place is very crowded. Rain or shine. Mostly food and not too much for shopping besides some phone and clothing stalls. It's a great ace to explore when it's not too hot or don't mind being in a crowded place. It also helps to know what you kind of what by doing some research, otherwise it might end up walking around aimlessly without knowing what to try.

Yelp
This is one of the longest night market in Malaysia which happens every Wednesday. You'll know it's on when you start seeing the jam on the Connaught highway. Do be ready to be stuck in the jam for some time if you're visiting. The entire stretch of night market will probably take about an hour to walk from one end to the other with the amount of people there. I think you can find almost anything there from food to phone accessories to car accessories to DVDs movies/songs to cosmetics to clothes and many many more. There are a few stalls which I especially like in this night market. 1) the Smelly Tau Fu which is situated at the start of the night market. 2) the Fruit Rojak located somewhere in the middle, and 3) the Ah Li Shan fried chicken. However, visitors beware of your belongings when you're there as pick-pocketing is quite common there. Parking is a bit of a problem as well, people usually park along the road but I prefer to park at the shop lots in front near UCSI.

Yelp
Taman Connaught Night Market or I like calling it 'Pasar Malam' is one of the most famous pasar malam even among people not from Cheras. It is open every Wednesday evening. I've always heard about them from my friends and colleagues ever since secondary school. But so far I've only been there once and it was also because there was a period where my sister is very into fruit rojak from one of the rojak stall there. So I went there with her. Was so overwhelmed by the foods they have there. We bought so much that in the end we couldn't finish what we bought (including mango sticky rice, fried chickens, lou han guo, apam balik and of course what we were there for, fruit rojak). We even brought some home for the family. Although we have a super long pasar malam here in Klang/Setia Alam selling similar stuff, the store operators are not the same. Hence, some food are yummier here in Taman Connaught pasar malam which explains why my sis can drive all the way here from Klang. Well, Malaysian never complain when they are traveling for the sake of good foods.

Yelp
The night market at Taman Connaught is one of the famous night market at Klang Valley. The entire area will jammed up whenever the night market is there and everyone seems to be crazy over it. Out of curiosity, I went to the night market to check it out myself. The night market is really huge, and probably the longest night market I've ever been. There were hundreds of stalls at the market and you'll find almost anything from here. They have food, clothes, household items and many more. After taking a walk from one end to the other end, I realised there was nothing much actually. You'll find stalls selling the exact same thing at the opposite end. In fact, you don't really need to walk the entire stretch to find what you want. I only went there once and never went back after that. Personally, I don't think there are anything too special at the night market and was very disappointed with it.

Yelp
If you like the hustle and bustle of pasar malam and elbowing your way to your favourite stall is not a problem, drop by  Taman Connaught Pasar Malam. Touted to be one of the biggest and "longest" pasar malam it has a few hundereds stall selling variety of food, snacks and other  products! I throng the pasar malam for snacks. Here, I have my favourite stalls which are also crowd pullers. Number 1 for me is The Angry Cheese Chicken. Big piece of succulent chicken fillet filled with melted cheese and  deep fried to perfection. Every bite is crispy and  the  burst of the cheesy sensation makes it delightful ! The pizza stalls are also my favourite. There is the Taiwanese pizza which is similar to the Chinese pancake with spring onion . The pancake is pan fried to nice golden brown , crisp to bite with fragrant aroma of spring onion. The other pizza stall sells pizza similar to Okonomiyaki. Like the Japanese versions, you pick and choose your filling, from cheese, seafood or sausages  There are many more stalls to explore so do try to make a trip!

Yelp
My partner used to stay in Cheras so he brought me here since we always talk about the longest night market ever and we finally gave it a try, it starts in the evening and ends around midnight, this place is like food hunting for nice food, so many things to look at. When we arrived, the crowd was already ridiculous since it was near Chinese new Year, such a bad timing and oh wells. We started from one end to another end to see what the hawkers served and cooked, i will list the one i can remember and the ones i always see around which sells the same thing - Tom Yum Fishball, curry fishball, Taiwan Spicy sausages, fried durian, accessories, phone covers, fire crackers, baby clothes, exercise clothes, pyjamas, korean inspired clothes, dresses, coconut ice cream(yummy), BBQ., daily essentials, cakes, snacks, preserved food and etc. Let me tell you my experienced with Taiwan spicy sausage, people say it is the most spiciest sausages and i was so confident because my partner cannot eat spicy and i like spicy - ONE BITE, MY TONGUE WAS GONE!. I needed a drink badly, an ice or something, iquickly ran to the nearest drink station and guess what? there were no drink station in the next 10-20M and my tongue was BURNING! When i arrived a drink station i quickly point and the girl was slowly taking her time in her mind thinking how much ice she needs to scoop and making sure she pours perfectly into the cup and i said HURRY! and she laughed at me with my burning tongue. i ate all the ice and i felt better but only for a second, i keep drinking in the next 4 drinking stations and then i was fine. My partner just kept laughing over and over again. NEVER AGAIN. I came here again the second time and know what to expect and this time i really enjoyed myself have a food spree. From one end to another end is equivalent to one meal if i eat proper i guess. The place is a must to bring foreigners.

Yelp
Many stalls to explore but don't buy any phone accessories in front of CIMB bank. There is a short, chubby guy selling things which are expensive than other stores and is very arrogant. giving u a feeling if u asked for price for just a thing, u must buy from him...what a world?!
