18 Iconic Hispanic Restaurants In Miami - Miami - The Infatuation

"Starting in the 1980s, the eastern part of Little Havana became an enclave within an enclave for Central American immigrants. The Honduran population in the United States grew exponentially in the 1990s and Florida is now home to the largest community of those immigrants. Paseo Catracho is an essential Honduran restaurant located in the very same area many Honduran immigrants first settled in Miami. You can’t leave here without ordering a round of pupusas and baleadas, which are both served with a side of curtido. As for the restaurant’s name, it’s a nod to the word catracho, which is the nickname given to Hondurans. The word dates back to the 1850s when General Florencio Xatruch led hundreds of Honduran soldiers, known as xatruches or xatruchos, in a war against those who wanted to reestablish slavery in Nicaragua. Xatruch was successful and regarded as a hero across the region. The word xatrucho eventually became catracho." - Mandy Baca

🇭🇳 Honduras menu is here!! 🇭🇳 One of the best honduran food experiences, delicious 😋 their menu has everything, appetizers are amazing 👏 their "plato catracho" is a sampler dish that has a little bit of exceptional food! We love this place it's our comfort place to go, they also have honduran beer, deserts, pan dulce, and yes, staff is nice!!💯💯💯

Google
LOVED this place. The quality of every dish that came out was superb. Great example of Honduran food. The restaurant although fairly large was packed to the brim for lunch on a Sunday afternoon. Our waiter was very sweet and took his time with us, we aren't used to ordering Honduran food, so a lot of questions were asked. I ordered the beef soup or sopa de res, they only had one serving and three of us ordered. So we let my mom take it. She loved it. I ordered the carne asada as my second choice and I wasn't upset. The dish came with rice, a coleslaw salad, maduros (plantains), a slice of avocado, refried beans, a slice of white cheese, and two tortillas!! Talk about yummy leftovers. The steak had an amazing taste and was juicy. I cannot wait to come back to try more dishes.

Google
I used to come here often and happy to report the food hasn't changed, we ordered carne asada and chicken tacos Hondureno. The taco was a bit more tortilla than the filling, and that's about the only complaint, The portion has also changed but that's reflective of the times I guess

Alex is the sweetest and very attentive. we ordered: sopa, pupusas, platano grito, carne asada, juices, and everything was delicious!

Google
Delicious food, fresh with lots of flavor, very authentic just like if you went to Honduras! We visit this restaurant everytime we come to Miami. Best baliadas ever! Best appetizer plantaino relleno! Yummmm! Best waitor Edwin Sanchez!

Google
The food was amazing. Customer service really bad. We were 3 people and they charged us a tip for 6 people. The waiter got mad because we didn’t leave him extra tip and he was upset because we placed the order over the phone to eat there even though the manager took the order.

Yelp
I just moved to East Little Havana and am trying some authentic places, I refuse to go to Brickell and wait for a table surrounded by women wearing sequins on a Tuesday night, so I try to hit authentic places 90% of the time just like I did in New York my whole life. I've been hitting Las Cabañas Salvadoran on the corner of Calle Ocho and SW Fourth Avenue, so I found this Honduran place no much farther up Calle Ocho (it's all walking distance--I live near Jose Martí Park on the Miami River). It was around 9:30am on a Sunday morning. I barely speak Spanish and the nice waitress who speaks no English figured out my order of a typical Honduran plate consisting of a carne asada, refried beans, white rice, avocado, white cheese, maduros, lime, pico de gallo, and a small salad of cabbage topped with a tomato slice. This was huge. For some reason they grilled a steak and then sliced it into pieces and put it on a skewer like a pincho with grilled onions and peppers, but it was grilled on a flame with grill marks. Maybe it was to get the whole meal served on one plate. I also had a strong cafe con leche. The food was delicious, rather large for any meal of the day but I powered through it and paid the price later by not going to the gym or being productive. I'd definitely go back there for the food and the man who speak English and works the Apple Pay device appreciated the compliments and that I had been there the first time.

Yelp
This place is a little far for me but, I still manage to go sometimes. My favorite Honduran tacos! I've brought a few of my friends and they loved the food. Everything is every flavorful and the price is decent. The only downside I feel everyone I go the waiters tend to take a long time getting to you. A must try if you Honduran food! And I recommend to try the queso fundido for an appetizer. The place is cute, the decoration is very typical from Honduras

Yelp
Food was excellent the best pupusas in Miami I really recommend this place service was great the only I don't like is the music from the restaurant .
google avatar

Daniela D.

Yelp
I grew up in Miami and have never visited here, we were recommended by a friend. Pupusas could have been better, a bit softer and with a bit more sazón flavor or whatever they put in there. We also had carne asada with rice and beans, I've had my share of carnita asada plates, a typical dish in any Catracho (hondurean) restaurant this was okay, was expecting more. Over all it was okay, I might visit again.

Yelp
I've been here a couple times. I visit from Chicago and I love Honduran food! So if you're looking to explore different Latin-American foods this is definitely a place to go! Their pupusas are good. I got a mix. They're baleadas are also amazing! I feel like this place is usually packed, but worth the wait! I recommend you try the Honduran Tacos and enchiladas!

Yelp
THE BESSSSSSTTTTTTTTT!!!!!!!!!!! My husband and I come here all the time for the baleadas! La comida es tan rica !!! La mejor baleadas

Yelp
I have known of this place for at least 7 years now. The food usually takes more than average to get to your table. Like they say, great things take time. I love the decoration of sombreros, clay sculptures and the amazing information plastered on each table. If you are Honduran, you will love learning more about the culture from those tables. Ok, let's talk about the real one, the food. I ordered la cena especial. Tajadas (thin like my preference), frijoles (perfectly fried), maduros (on the right spot), queso fresco, mantequilla hondureña, aguacate (great quality), huevos revueltos and a medium well cooked meat. I also had an Horchata. I totally recommend this place. Outstanding service.

Yelp
The waiter was very pleasant and the food was very good would definitely come back when I'm in the area !

Yelp
The food was not good. Lacking flavor and felt very rushed. Won't be eating here again.

Yelp
Amazing food. Been eating here for years. Super consistent, great service, and never disappointed! Not a fancy place but the food is super delicious and authentic. I think our server is Alberto, not sure that's his name but soooo nice. Try them out.

Rainer L.

Yelp
Took some first timers there at noon. It was not crowded the service was friendly and quick. We were three people and shared the signature plate plato catracho. Plenty of food to share. I highly recommend it and you will see me again during the season 2023-2024 with some new friends. Rainer Finland (a snow bird in WPB in winter)

Yelp
I ordered a "plátano llenado y un súper baleada" however they charged me SEPERATELY. It was listed as a No7 COMBO on their menu for $10.95 and came out to be $12.90 due to their greedy mishandling. Also keep in mind it was $5.98 for these 2 extremely small cups of horchata & maracuya. Insane prices for such small portions. On top of that, they charge YOU 15% GRATUITY AUTOMATICALLY to your bill. Turned out to be $5.07 tip automatically added on. ***Do not bother bringing your business here as the place is EXTREMELY GREEDY and dare I say, has HIDDEN FEES.***‍ Clarification for receipt photo: (They even bother showing a "tip suggestion table" at the bottom as if they didn't already just jip you.) As you can see the waitress's name is apparently Karen, she puts her own tip in the computer. WE DIDNT ASK TO PUT A TIP AS THEY ALREADY HAVE A TIP JAR UPFRONT.

Yelp
Delicious Honduran fare freshly made. We enjoyed the plato catracho, great option to share with a wide selection of samples to taste a little bit of everything along with condiments. The service was efficient and friendly. The restaurant was busy and filled with locals, the food flowed and everyone seemed satisfied.

Jarvin M.

Yelp

Yelp
Great steak, great food, great service. This place is consistent. I recommend carne asada.

Yelp
This place is amazing and one of our favorites to order take out ! Their baleadas are big and delicious stuffed with protein. The pupusas are all good, we always order one of each! The taco orders are amazing and we always mix and match chicken and carne. They give you a very tasty small salad and amazing red sauce that can go with anything! The service when we call and delivery is always great! They do their own deliveries so you don't get up charged by Uber and those platforms, call them directly!!!
google avatar

Yelp
Never coming back here again after they have all these hidden charges and prices for to go vs dine in are more and they obviously don't tell you on the phone when you're ordering. Menu says 25.50 to get my order I got charged $7 more dollars claiming the container & then a charge to use the card like I didn't order enough sorry I don't care how good your food is if you're gonna scam people I'm not the one. Plus they hung on me when I called to order and then the lady was unpleasant when I'm asking why the prices aren't what the menu says.
google avatar

Maria J.

Yelp
It was okay, the portions were definitely generous and the service was great. The food was okay, nothing outstanding but not bad. They don't allow dogs unless they are service dogs which is also kinda disappointing.

John F.

Yelp

Yelp
I am salud looking for a good Honduran restaurant since where I'm from we don't have that many, and the few we have are very average. I was advised to visit Paseo Catracho by a friend so i decided to go fro breakfast. The place is dark, once you get there it looks closed, and the door is very hard to open so please make sure you pull REALLY HARD, we were knocking on the glass for like 5 mins thinking someone could come and open the door for us. Now the food, I decided to with the desayuno típico, this is basically a little bit of everything (beans, crema, queso, tajadas, steak, eggs, and tortilla) you can pick corn or flour tortillas. Everything tested very fresh, the steak was tender and very flavorful, the eggs were a little over cooked, I didn't tell the waitress how I wanted them so that's on me. The cheese and creama tasted very authentic and fresh as well. Overall a good dish of you are trying Honduran food for the first time. We also ordered baleadas, these were pretty epic, the tortilla was very thing and they had a good amount of beans and crema. Very good place, would love to go back and try their carne con tajadas and pollo Chuco.

Yelp

Yelp
One of my favorite hidden gems in outskirts of Brickell/Little Havana. The food, especially stuffed plantain & pupusas revueltas, doesn't disappoint. It's a predominantly Hispanic restaurant, which for a gringo like me is even more reason to rave about this spot. Friendly staff & chill atmosphere. Check it out!

Yelp
Paseo Catracho is sooo yummy!! def recommend to anyone that wants to try Honduran food for the first time. we ordered the sampler, which truly brings a bit of everything, it's so much food for about $24. The carne asada is the best i've ever had. The rice water & tamarindo juice we're so good, this place is a hidden gem. super cute inside as well, I felt like i had been transported to Honduras.

Kat H.

Yelp
The only thing is they charge your credit card and the tip of already included. One waiter was very rude, I would never forget the face but the rest of the crew is very nice and respectful. Other than that, this place is very good! I would not stop coming back even with a rude waiter was there.

Paula F.

Yelp
google avatar

Maurice M.

Yelp
Very good Hondurian dishes. Lots of locals come here. I got the Baleada con todo & Carne Asada Ceibena. The baleadas were flavorful and good. The asada ceibena was 90% fried thin plantains with very little meat. The employees were very helfpful
google avatar

Freddy S.

Yelp
Food is delicious. Asado is the best I have tried on different places. My kids love their menu, always coming back.
google avatar

Manny V.

Yelp
A little disappointing we were craving pupusas but I guess Honduras pupusas are different than Salvadoran pupusas they were ok but everything had the taste of beans the revueltas and even the stuffed plantains. The service was really good by the ladies and the dude at the cash register was an ahole. I would not come back here nothing really stood out to say come back. We got the number one family deal with 10 pupusas 2 tacos a bean n cheese dip with a liter of soda and fried plantains. Like I said everything tasted like beans the bean dip with cheese and chips the pupusas tasted mostly of bean and my fried plantains were stuffed with beans. It blew my mind the amount if beans I ate in all the dishes. Salvadoran pupusas normally come stuffed with cheese pork and beans these were not what I'm used to and the plantains normally come with cream and beans on the side these came stuffed with more beans and cheese. Me no like Honduran pupusas.

Yelp
Stay away from this place as my entire family ended up with food poison and when I called to speak to manager I was told they did not have one. Nobody is overlooking how food is manged and I honestly almost ended up in the hospital. This place is not cheap either but definitely stay away.
google avatar

Aileen R.

Yelp
Hidden gem Honduran restaurant in the heart of Calle 8. Love this place, affordable lunch specials Monday thru Friday before 4pm. Enjoy pupsas while enjoying music or watching TV. Service was great.

Yelp
Why doesn't this place have 5 stars?! First of all, I brought my bf here; he has never had Honduran food, so I wanted to show him my heritage food. I was only concerned that the service would be slow. I knew the food would be good! Our server was prompt, and very helpful. The food was NOT slow to come out either. We ordered as follows: App: Baleada Sencilla con huevo reveulto, una orden de pupusa (hay 3) Ent: Catracho Taco con pollo (1), Carne Asada (with all the sides) Everything was so delicious, and my BF thoroughly enjoyed everything. We loved the encurtido (pickled cabbage) and the cabbage salad that is served with many entrees..its a nice "refreshing" flavor to offset the more starchy dishes. We will definitely be back!!!!
google avatar

Cristi J.

Yelp
Food here is amazing. Best refried beans ever!! Prices are great. Excellent selection of Honduran beer. House made cole slaw is delicious. The staff will take the time to help you navigate the menu if needed. Only negative- don't go there if you are in a hurry. We were not, so our experience was 100% positive.
google avatar

vicki c.

Yelp
Small quaint restaurant. It's hard to find good, authentic central American in Miami. My go-to whenever i'm feeling Honduran or Salvadoran food, don't skip out on the tacos and the pupusas.

Jowee V.

Yelp
HORRIBLE! They took 52 minutes for a simple order! And the place was empty. This was after I called it in. When I arrived they told me they gave my food to someone else. They tried making up for it my making it again for me. That's when they took exactly 52 minutes!!! DO NOT SUPPORT THESE INCOMPETENT PEOPLE.
google avatar

Fernan V.

Yelp
Tasty food , delicious carne asada , tacos , anafre de chorizo fundido con queso , sweet plantain with cheese and refríes beans , best plate to try , of course enjoy it with a good Horchata Great service
google avatar

Andrea B.

Yelp
Missing my many trips to Honduras, but this definitely takes me back to those sweet memories of La H. Baleadas are amazing, the coffee is phenomenal and you'll definitely want to order the anafre with tórtolos.
google avatar

Maria L.

Yelp
Horrible experience and disappointed.... On October 1 @ 9:42 I arrived to the restaurant.. as soon I walked in from the bar employees were just looking at us. Someone finally approached me a so called Allison just to tell us they were closed... all websites google apple and Yelp hours clearly said 10 am - 11 pm on Friday, super misleading. There was also another party of 8 that were told the same thing. That it all depends on traffic of the restaurant...They look like they didn't want to work. What a way to not want to make money.
google avatar

Apple S.

Yelp
I ordered 4 chicken tacos. One person got sick. I threw mine away as the quality wasn't the same. Also the price was more than usual and less sides. Seems the quality was off on Friday night.
google avatar

Gerson M.

Yelp
Baleadas are on point, Fat and tasty. I ordered 2 but was full with 1. The horchata, tamarindo, and nance all true to the taste. Get the baleadas criminales for sure.
google avatar

Patricia B.

Yelp
Nice and fast service and reasonably priced. I usually order takeout and order is always right. Baleadas are great and also breakfast menu. I am only giving three stars because lately the food is super salty. They should add salt to the menu in front of every item because you will be getting salty baleadas or salty enchiladas or salty meat. I spoke to them and they apparently salt the meat a week before so by the time they cook it the meat has become like a fish ready for salty fish soup. Everything else is delicious including great fruit juices and other dishes. Servers are very courteous and fast. I also like that they have sweet bread in front. Hope to have the salty situation resolved soon otherwise just have a gallon of water next to you when eating a meat baleada.

Cristina R.

Yelp
google avatar

Liz G.

Yelp
The best Honduran food in all of Miami. Good customer service. The food is full of flavor and freshly cooked. We had a very large party and everything came out in a timely manner. Prices are very good too!

Carla A.

Yelp
google avatar

Melissa G.

Yelp
This is authentic Honduran food! The service is slow but the food is amazing and fresh. Parking is a little difficult, parking is lot is small and in the back of restaurant. Every time I come the taste of food is delicious, fresh and consistent. The service always tends to be slow but worth the wait for the amazing food!
google avatar

Cynthia Lissette C.

Yelp
It's my stepfather's favorite place to order from. Service is really inconsistent . Took long for a waiter to come get our order. And then the food took long to get to the table. Service was poor. But the tacos I ordered were really good and that is why it's only getting 2 stars and not just one. Tacos remind me of just your old fashion comfort food. Next time I'll just order take out.
google avatar

Jose M.

Yelp
Paseo Catracho is the next best thing to going to Honduras! Food is authentic and great service. Pupusas, baleadas and their refried beans are a must have.
google avatar

Mayda P.

Yelp
Best meat baleadas I've had. They loaded them up and is very feeling, I give it a 10. The special has eggs along with meat, refried beans, crema and I don't remember what else $4.50. With no eggs is $4. Can't beat that!
google avatar

Miguel S.

Yelp
This is the best Honduran restaurant in Miami. Dishes are fresh reasonably priced and real home cooking. The carne asada, bistec encebollado and the breaded Chicken breast are all my favorites. I highly recommended if you want an authentic taste on Honduras
