Passionfish Review - Pacific Grove - Monterey - The Infatuation

"With illuminated fish sculptures and chandeliers that look like streams of bubbles, Passionfish manages to be somewhere that’s both a romantic dinner spot and somewhere that reminds us of the Monterey Bay Aquarium. Their seafood-forward menu is sustainably sourced and creative, with dishes like scallops with caper-walnut relish and mussels in a bacon-fennel broth. Their wine list is pretty reasonable, with a massive selection of half-bottles starting at $18, including top-tier French wines for under $50." - Allison Green

Nice ambiance! Looks better inside than what you see from outside. We went there for brunch today around 1pm since we woke up so late and it’s just a block away from our place. The restaurant wasn’t busy and the hostess was nice enough to put us by the window. We went with green salad and crepe for the appetizers. Added in a half-dozen oysters for appetizers as well. The salad was fresh. The crepe was ok. The oysters were decent when comparing with other places in nova. We got etouffee and egg Benedict as our entree. The etouffee is way wrong. It’s gumbo disguised as “etouffee”… I lived in Louisiana for five years… I know what’s etouffee… The beignets were ok. They should have listed as mini-beignets in the menu… The service was… well not bad but also not good… I don’t want to complain since people have to make a living and i understand they have a tougher live.. They can choose who they prefer to serve and what not… (why we say this? Our assigned server switched another server over after we ordered the drinks).. anyhow, also check your bill before paying… a half-dozen oysters during Sunday brunch is listed as $15, but it showed up in our bill at $22 (full-price from regular menu)… probably won’t be back… there are several other places in RTC we can walk to…

Visited on a Sunday and ended up choosing from their prix fixe brunch menu. Was surprised by the value. The prix fixe menu includes an appetizer, entrée, dessert, and discounted cocktails—an excellent deal. For our table of two, both appetizers were impressive. The standout was the ceviche—unexpectedly delicious, fresh, and possibly made with calamari. It had a unique and refreshing flavor. For entrées, I had the snapper, which was so yum, full of flavor. The omelette, on the other hand, was just average—nothing special. Desserts were meh. Neither the chocolate bomb nor the beignets stood out; Cocktails were decent. Still, the overall experience was lovely. Would want to go back for dinner one of these days. Oh, they had live music too. :)

Staying in Reston did a quick search for fish and this place popped up. It was two tents from the hotel so it was short walking distance. It was really nice place. I was surprised for Monday night. It was pretty much dead. They did have a happy hour from 4:30 to 6:30, which we were in under the window, but unfortunately, it was exposed to sitting at the bar area and the bar and the few tables I had in that area we’re completely full so no worries. We just sat in the dining room and we had an amazing dinner. Amazing ambience. The service was a little slow to get started. We probably sat there for close to 10 minutes. Waiting to just get hello from the wait waiting staff, and there were only three other tables in the dining area at the time we were seated, but once we got rolling, everything went pretty well and presentation was amazing. Food was really good not stellar but really good what we had drinks were good. I would definitely recommend it. I would definitely would come back personally by myself as well.

Always a surprise to show-up for an impromptu dinner, without reservations, and get a lovely booth, professional service (Vincent was excellent), and quality fresh seafood offerings. We will certainly return, next time with friends!

I used to enjoy their Bethesda location until it closed. It was a solid place. Came here with friends after a fiasco at another restaurant. Love the decor and layout. Fresh fish on display adds to the ambience. We all went light on the food. Char broiled oysters, gumbo, and calamari. All were so so. Gumbo lacked salt and any strong flavor. My friend who cooks said the rue wasn't right. Comments about the calamari were mmmm ok. Likewise for the oysters, bit they were pretty. I think everything needed more seasoning.

Passion Fish Restaurant: A Detailed Review for Reston Town Center Passion Fish in Reston Town Center has established itself as a prominent seafood destination, and for good reason. My recent visit allowed me to delve into several key aspects of their menu, focusing specifically on their sushi, appetizers, oysters, and the highly anticipated NY Strip Steak. Here's a detailed breakdown of my experience: Ambiance and Service: Before diving into the food, it's worth noting the restaurant's atmosphere. Passion Fish boasts an airy, bi-level space with a sophisticated yet comfortable vibe. The decor hints at its seafood focus without being overly thematic. The service throughout the evening was attentive, friendly, and efficient. Our server was knowledgeable about the menu and offered helpful recommendations. Sushi: A Highlight Passion Fish truly shines when it comes to its sushi. The dedicated sushi bar is a testament to their commitment to this art form. * Freshness and Quality: The fish was exceptionally fresh, with vibrant colors and a clean taste. You could tell that they source high-quality ingredients. * Creativity and Presentation: The sushi rolls we sampled were both beautiful and creative. They offered a good mix of classic rolls and more innovative combinations. The presentation was meticulous, showcasing the chef's attention to detail. * Variety: The menu offered a diverse selection of nigiri, sashimi, and specialty rolls, catering to various palates. From traditional tuna and salmon to more adventurous options, there was something for everyone. * Overall Impression: The sushi at Passion Fish is undoubtedly a standout. It's clear that they prioritize quality and artistry, making it a must-try for any sushi lover visiting Reston Town Center. Appetizers: Promising Beginnings The appetizer selection at Passion Fish offered a tempting array of options beyond just seafood. * Variety and Flavor Profiles: We sampled a couple of appetizers, and both were well-executed. They showcased a range of flavors and textures, from light and refreshing to richer and more indulgent. * Presentation: Similar to the sushi, the appetizers were thoughtfully presented, adding to the overall dining experience. * Standouts (Based on general reviews): While I didn't personally try it, the "baked cheese" appetizer (described in some online reviews as a tomato and cheese sauce for dipping bread) seems to be a popular and highly recommended choice. The fries also receive positive mentions. Oysters: A Fresh Catch For oyster aficionados, Passion Fish offers a raw bar that appears to be a significant draw. * Freshness and Selection: While I didn't indulge in the oysters on this particular visit, the raw bar looked impressive, suggesting a commitment to fresh, seasonal selections. * Presentation: The oysters on display were well-presented, nestled on ice, indicating proper handling and care. * General Reputation: Reviews often highlight the freshness and quality of their raw bar offerings, including the oysters. Value: Passion Fish leans towards the higher end in terms of pricing, which is expected for a restaurant of this caliber in Reston Town Center. The quality of the ingredients, the skillful preparation, and the overall dining experience justify the cost for a special occasion or a treat. Conclusion: Passion Fish in Reston Town Center delivers a consistently high-quality dining experience, particularly excelling in its sushi and likely its oysters. The appetizers offer a good variety and are well-executed. While the NY Strip Steak is a respectable option, the restaurant's strength undeniably lies in its fresh and creative seafood offerings. If you're looking for a sophisticated seafood meal with excellent sushi in Reston Town Center, Passion Fish is definitely worth a visit.

We didn’t spend big so probably missed out. But for what we did have it was ok. $24 for a speciality roll of sushi for me. Went around 5:30 so the atmosphere was a 5 of 10. It felt so dull but the ambience got a bit better as night fell. The service was superb.

I had the chance to celebrate my birthday at this lovely restaurant and was able to enjoy a special birthday menu. The server, the ambiance and food exceeded my expectations. Highly recommended ✨

Yelp
Bar review only: Nice happy hour, friendly service and friendly patrons, cleanly kept, and accommodating employees when we struggled to find seating. The oyster shooters were generously portioned and delicious. Clams also had a nice flavor, just wish it came with more bread for dipping. The pleasant first bar experience makes me want to come back to try dining in the main restaurant.

Yelp
Came in here for dinner while I was in town for a cybersecurity conference. Walked in about 6pm on a Sunday, and we were seated very quickly. I had my service dog with me and the host at the door was very polite about asking me the questions they are allowed to ask, and didn't make a big deal of it. The restaurant itself was very contemporary and intimate, low lighting, well decorated, and I like how they have an ice island in the middle with some of their fresh seafood displayed. Now, on to the part that matters, the food. Passionfish Flys their seafood in fresh daily and it's incredible quality. I got the Toro tuna sashimi appetizer and the fish almost literally melted in my mouth it was so tender. For my main course I got their sushi tower, and all of the fish on it was also divine. Very happy I stopped in and im definitely going again next time im in town

Yelp
My friend and I came here for a birthday dinner and had a great experience! Our waiter was extremely friendly and service was great. The ambiance inside is very nice- elegant & modern. The subtle blue lighting makes it feel very oceany lol We ordered the harissa Spanish glazed octopus as an appetizer which was delicious. The octopus was very well cooked and tender. I was surprised how well the octopus and hummus worked together. I would definitely get this again. The Szechuan Eggplant and Szechuan long beans were both great side dishes. Flavorful, well cooked, and a very decent portion size. We got sushi as our entree which was great. Fish and all the ingredients were extremely fresh and the ratio of rice in the roll was perfect. Since I was here for a birthday, the restaurant provided a dessert on the house which was very nice! Thé crème brûle was delicious. Some of the best I've had in a long time. Overall I would 100% come back and highly recommend Passionfish. The perfect spot for a birthday dinner or to celebrate!

Yelp
Today was 1st visit - we were immediately greeted by the hostess and were seated instantly. The server was attentive and courteous. I prefer expressing martini and my friend ordered a margarita. Both drinks were divine. We ordered crab Ruben sandwich and lobster roll. They were both delicious however I favor the crab Rueben sandwich. I ordered the Korean fried chicken with green curry sauce - wasn't what I expected. If you are in the Reston area, give them a try.

Yelp
Bread service was one of the best complementary bread I've had, super buttery and soft. We did not get a refill tho so not sure if it's unlimited. Ordered the volcano roll, hoped for slightly more crunch on the shrimp tempura so wasn't the best sushi I've had but most certainly wasn't bad. Corn chowder was the perfect amount of sweetness plus seafood hint, but for $12 I was hoping for a slightly bigger portion. Rainbow trout and Mac n jack came together as an entree, generous portion and was perfect amount to share between my fiancé and I. Plenty of seating but we came on a Saturday and even though Google says they open at 4, we had to wait until 5 to get seated at the dining area. Not the biggest deal as the weather was nice and we got to walk around RTC.

Yelp
Went here to celebrate my husband's birthday and what a success. Rebecca, our server, was thee best and her recommendations were 5 star all around. A day later and he's still talking about the food!

Yelp
Elegant restaurant in the heart of Reston Town Center. The restaurant is very nicely decorated and has an aquatic theme. I had the sushi tower and blackened mahi mahi. The sushi rolls and sashimi was very good and fresh. The mahi mahi however was a little on the salty side. Service was attentive and friendly. I enjoyed my experience at PassionFish and look forward to coming back!

Yelp
Seafood mid to high end menus priced comparably to that at Eddie Vs but with quality servers. Our server was professional and provided high end service. Kodus on that, in particular! Beautifully arranged but packed dining room. Our table could have not have been the best and preferable by the window, and, in which I had vantage (240) point of the dining room. As I looked around the room, it was full of business suits and dinner attire guests give off yuppy vibe. And the staff all seemed professional working in symphonic harmony. I could tell there was this nicely suited gentleman who I presumed was the dining room manager or the very manager but he did not acknowledged us being the first guests that checked in at start of dinner time. Also reminded me of the lukewarm reception at the bar when we had a drink prior to dinner. Yet, I like the resto vibe! Food was great and more than good and equated with the pricing. Still, all in all a solid 4! I would have given 5 stars but if you know me, taking a point from almost perfection always mean-place missed the most I valued most in dining out- it was not our waiter in fact he garnered the most points in my view... take a guess?

Yelp
A bit on the pricier end, but I do love coming here, especially for Restaurant Week. My favorite thing to order is the crispy whole flounder. It comes with a tangy Thai sauce/glaze that really balances the fried fish. The ambience is upscale and service is decent. I'd recommend coming here for a special occasion or date night.

Yelp
Dinner in a Saturday date night. We had a reservation and were seated right away. The restaurant is beautiful. There was a party going on upstairs The waiter recommended a Pinot from Oregon that we enjoyed. We started with grilled oysters either garlic butter, bread crumbs and Parmesan. The oysters were delicious as was the French bread used to mop up the melted butter and oyster liquor from the bottom of the platter We had sashimi that was very fresh. Tuna and salmon Then we spilt sea scallops in a bed of risotto. While everything was very good, this dish was the highlight. Perfectly seared. Four glasses of wine and 3 dishes was about $200 before tip. My new favorite place in the town center.

Yelp
Honestly, not a bad spot at all. My boyfriend and I decided to try this spontaneously. We didn't make a reservation but they had availability. We got seated right away. The decor and ambiance is elegant and nice. The swordfish and the volcano roll was good. I also was able to order the gumbo as a side and Mac and Cheese. The service was good and fairly quick. I'd go back and try some of the other menu items. It's a great seafood spot. They also host private events.

Yelp
My wife and I recently enjoyed a lovely brunch at PassionFish in Reston during restaurant week. Not only was the atmosphere perfect on a Sunday morning, but the service was impeccable. I had sushi as my appetizer and my wife enjoyed the gazpacho. Both were delicious and fresh. We both selected eggs Benedict as our appetizer. It was also delicious, although it was listed as having bay seasoning included in the sauce. Neither of us tasted it, although the sauce was wonderful without it. For dessert, my wife had the chocolate dome and I enjoyed the bread pudding. Both were out of this world! While PassionFish is known for their fresh seafood, don't take a pass on brunch. It is worth the visit. We will be back soon!!

Yelp
Amazing seafood period! Went with a friend while staying in DC. The restaurant is very modern with a side bar and loved seeing the fresh oysters shucked in the front area. We happened to be there with an awesome special half off fresh oysters in two different varieties-one smaller with great flavor and one a little larger with a salty taste. The fresh horseradish was appreciated! Great recommendation from our server. We then ordered - I was wrestling between the sole stuffed with lobster and vegetables and drizzled with an amazing lemon sauce. My friend ordered the large scallops and I went with the server recommended blackened swordfish. When you see the pictures you will be shocked at the size of the swordfish steak! Perfectly cooked and amazing taste.... Our sides were the Szechuan eggplant and the bucket of fries! I would definitely come again! Really something else and a great experience... freshest seafood I have had in the last three years!

Yelp
Came here with a friend to catch the tail end of PassionFish happy hour. They have an island area as an extension of the bar area which was convenient for us because all the bar seats were full. I thought the bar service was great. They have multiple cross-trained bartenders and servers overseeing that area so there was never a wait to call someone over to order more drinks or apps. Speaking of ordering, I loved their menu. Plenty of $9 appetizers and $6 specialty drinks. Between my friend and I we ordered the oyster shooters, the mussels, the spicy salmon maki roll, the moscow mule and the dark and stormy cocktail. I don't think you'll go wrong with ordering any of those. Tip about the oyster shooters: one serving comes with 3 shots! Know this before you decide how much you want to order haha.

Yelp
Exquisite food and wine last night. Very creative chef and great service! Have been eating there since 2008 and Passion Fish has never failed to impress me!

Yelp
Went for Valentine's day, food was 10/10 SO good. Service was a bit spotty but they were also packed. The food runners didn't seem to know what tables were what because two of our 4 dishes were delivered to a different table (one near by where we could see). Our server was very knowledgable of the menu as well! Only odd thing was we wanted to see if we could get in a little earlier and they told us they couldn't take us before our 7:45 reservation time so we waited there for an hour and saw empty tables. Seemed a bit odd but we will be back!

Yelp
Been wanting to try this for a long time. Three of us had dinner here early eve during the week. We had a table in the corner which was conducive to talking. I very much appreciated that. We started with the octopus which is in the menu and the spider sushi roll which was a special. Both were great. I got the tuna special and liked it a lot. I was surprised how generous the portion was. One person got the crab cakes and mushrooms- again lots of mushrooms. Another got the scallops and loved them. Services was great! Loved the sea theme decor. They had the cutest salt and pepper shakers too! Highly recommend!

Yelp
Had an amazing experience at PassionFish! My husband and I came in for dinner during Restaurant Week! For lunch and dinner they had a prefix menu that you could select a 3-course meal from. Lunch special is $35 and dinner is $55. I had the spicy salmon roll as my appetizer. For my main course I had the jumbo lump crab cakes which had a $12 dollar up charge. For desert I had the White Chocolate Bread Pudding. I also had the Dinking Pine Trees cocktail to drink. The service from our waiter was impeccable! Very prompt, answered our questions, had great service! The ambiance is very nice inside and a little more classy than spots we normally go to. Cannot wait to come back here again here in the future!

Yelp
Generally have had a good experience here. Particularly Sunday Brunch at the bar. The bar staff are excellent and the food has been consistently good. The decor inside is good and the location is very convenient. My general favorite has been the Bar Harbor roll, but be advised, it comes and goes depending on the availability of the the lobster. Well portioned and served warm.

Yelp
Came for Happy Hour but entire bar area was full. Gentleman at front quickly seated us in dining area with Happy Hour menus. Great server. Quickly took orders. Food and drinks came at fine pace. Food was outstanding. Again, outstanding. This is a beautiful place in a wonderful shopping/office area with plenty of free parking (after 5pm). Busy on a weeknight but other than the filled bar area not crowded (although dining room was filling up in the 45 minutes we spent there. Yes, we will be going back.

Yelp
Came here for a birthday dinner. The Ambiance was nice and staff were very professional. We came on a Saturday and it was a bit busy, getting our food took longer than expected would be my only complaint. Other than that all the food was good with quality and tasted good.

Yelp
This place is the place to go for quality service, food and atmosphere. I have been here for lunch, dinner and their VIP tastings and its always a great experience. The chef is a mastermind!!!

Yelp
This was an accidental find. Looking for a last minute date night and picked this place last minute while at a seminar. Excellent service, exceptional drinks, food was delicious. Our favorite was the tandoori salmon and passion fish roll. Would definitely come back if I'm in this area again.

Yelp
We had a fantastic time at Passion Fish of Reston. They went over and beyond. The food and the service were amazing. Looking forward to going back soon.

Yelp
OMG I we have never had such delicious seafood in Virginia and we come from Rhode Island!!! We started with a dozen oysters, yummy !!!! I had the special yucon gold mashed potatoes, with green beans, with Sole and crab layered with some delicious seasoning over the top. My husband had the mai mai with a side of greens with bacon. Probably one of the best meals we have had in a very long time. Our server Daniel was excellent. We will ask for him every time we go there or give a suggestion of a place for seafood. Drink special was an amazing martini type drink that was fabulous. Definitely a five star rating from us. Beautiful decor, spotless, with a wonderful raw bar. Loved it !!!!

Ripley P.

Yelp
I have ordered takeout from PassionFish a few times now and decided to take my girlfriend to dine in for a special occasion -- we were more than impressed with the experience, ambiance, and the fresh and creative menu! Daniel made our night extremely special with his kind energy, helpful recommendations, and fun conversation throughout our experience; we would love to dine with him again. We have found our favorite restaurant in Reston and will most definitely be back soon!

Yelp
My best friend and I went here for dinner and were really excited to try the sushi and seafood. We were severly disappointed by almost every dish . The sushi tower was super fresh and an ok price for the amount. My issue was how the nigiri and sashimi were cut. It was sooo thick. Thick to a point of feeling weird to chew. We ordered ousters and the fried calamari, which we enjoyed. Now dinner.... i ordered the crab cake special $55 and the ceasar salad as my side. I was excited about the salad since it came with fresh anchovies. However, when it was delivered to the table there were no anchovies, and the dressing was just nasty. The crab cakes were fine, but the sauce that was supposed to be on it was missing. My friend ordered the sword fish, which was not cooked to the temperature we asked. Our server Tim was decent. Overall, we had close to a $300 bill and ill never go back there.
google avatar

Yelp
Octopus and crab cakes. Paired with an IPA and some bread. First octopus came out in 55 seconds, luke warm. Sent back. Second try was hot and bbqed as should be, delicious. Crab cakes didn't look appealing, also were the most expensive I've ever got ($55). The good is zero filler and pure quality. It wasn't the GOAT as I was hoping, but a solid one. Overall good - pricy, not large portions, but the service is awesome. Hard to give this a 4 star it deserves, not visually there.

Yelp
I went with one of my friends on Sunday. Never knew they even had brunch from 11am - 2:30pm. Let me tell you the service and food was absolutely fantastic. We ordered Sushi, lobster soup, omelette, eggs Benedict, cappuccino, and desert. Best Sushi I've had in a long time!! We will definitely be back! One of my now favorite Reston area restaurants!! Outstanding...

Yelp
Love this place! It may not be trendy or hip as the other places in RTC, but it delivers. Happy hour on Saturday! Who still does HH on weekends? Great Dark and Stormy with yellowtail crudo spoons! Fried flounder, crab corn chowder, and key lime pie, all part of restaurant week! In food coma land now.

Yelp
Worst service I've had in a long time! Made dinner reservations last night to celebrate our anniversary. Got seated upstairs. Our server was Noura and she was an abomination. The server didn't introduce herself. She didn't acknowledge my wife at all. It wasn't busy upstairs. I think she had only one other table besides us. She took our drink order. Then took our apps order. Apps took so long to come to our table (and we just ordered oysters and a sushi roll.) I had to wave her down several times for her to stop by our table for me to ask about our apps. When she came back to take our entree order, she didn't even mention the special of the evening. I had to ask "do you have any specials tonight?" Did she forget about telling us what the specials were?? Which she then said it was the yellowtail, which I ordered. My wife ordered the scallops. The server didn't describe the special correctly at all as she said it came with green beans, which it did not. My yellowtail wasn't very good. It was bland. And my wife's scallops were undercooked. The server wasn't attentive to our table at all, even when there were no other tables that she was helping on the floor. She was even sweeping up the floor in the corner rather than to pay attention to us! And, when we closed out our tab, she wasn't even there. It seemed like she had left without saying a word to us. Another server took our check and then returned with my credit card. It really felt like the server was angry at us for some reason and then treated us rudely all evening. Of course, this ruined our anniversary dinner. We usually enjoy dining at Passionfish. We oftentimes celebrate special occasions there for the food, ambiance, and service. It is our favorite brunch place, too. But, last night was truly disappointing. The service was horrendous. And, the food missed the mark. Do better, Passionfish. At this price point...do better.

Yelp
I came here for restaurant week with my parents, and was generally satisfied with the food, but wouldn't return for traditional menu. The wait to get seated was quite long, but understandable due to the volume I saw in the lobby. Our waiter didn't improve our experience much, and it was clear other waiters had more attentive service. Appetizer- Crudo spoons: whitefin tuna with __ while tasty, not worth it in comparison to other appetizers such as the ceviche. Main Course- Catch of the day (salmon): I got the salmon with romesco sauce and a side of cremini mushrooms. The salmon skin was crispy, and overall dish flavor was standard. Dessert- Key lime cheesecake was phenomenal, considering I am not usually a fan of the flavor. I wasn't originally planning on ordering it, but it was so highly recommended.

Kevin M.

Yelp
This was terrible certainly not the same restaurant I had in 2013, though the price remains the same (expensive) I really wouldn't bother everything was underwhelming, my fish was overcooked, crab cakes were not tasty and the drinks were bleh.

Yelp
Another 10-star experience. Happy Hour at the bar with mom & good friend. Excellent food & drink choices : ceviche, Ceiba nachos, beet/feta salad, seriously delicious. Ashley took great care of us & love the newly painted mural above the bar-looks incredible!

Yelp
Came here for the first time after the pandemic. There was no wait and we were promptly seated. Our waitress was attentive and friendly. The bread they give as a starter isn't very good, especially for the prices they charge. The beer was nice and cold. The blackened mahi was over coated but was tasty. The prawns were nicely done. The place was not very loud. Net net not a bad experience.

Yelp
I love this place. Every time I come here, the food and service impress me. I love a place with excellent service and this place is that. Their vibe is relaxed sophisticated, nothing too fancy or too casual. We have tried everything on their menu, our favs are the red curry lobster pot, the peanut crusted halibut, and always get the flounder. The sushi and appetizers are delicious too! Favs are the dynamite roll and the grilled octopus. Our waiter was Max and he made my birthday so special. Way more special than the highly rated DC restaurant that I went to the other night. What I like about this place is some of the staff has been there since the beginning. Always nice seeing the familiar faces like Alan, John and Damian. And super excited when I know Chris Clime is the head chef that night, I know the food is gonna be goooood.

Cathy M.

Yelp
The food was excellent. However, when our table was being cleared the butter knife was dropped on the lining of my leather fox trimmed jacket that was sitting in the chair beside me. The woman picked it up and didn't apologize. My son looked at the coat and butter was smeared several places on the lining. We picked the coat up and were using a napkin to get the butter off the lining when our waitress brought us our check. She didn't comment. So I would say you need to work on your service.

Yelp
Highly recommend this restaurant for PARENTS with polite and courteous children. You deserve fine dining too instead of McDonalds! In addition to the excellent and gorgeously plated food, I'm giving this restaurant 5 stars for the reasons below: 1. I'm most appreciative when an upscale dining restaurant is so great with children. Mine are 4 and 2, and while they were very well behaved, it's delightful to see the entire staff so welcoming, friendly, and provided top notch service. The activity kits for the kids were super thoughtful too! 2. Their automatic flushing toilets actually worked. Don't know about you, but I can't stand having to find the button to push when the toilets don't work at other places. Germs spreading and so inconvenient. It's the little details that matter to me. 3. Ok, the food was AMAZING! I had the catch of the day special. Halibut over a bed of papaya noodles with peanut curry sauce. My husband had the blackened Mahi-mahi. Children had pasta with fries. Our desserts were mouth watering!

Yelp
I've been traveling so much for work lately so it's no surprise I ended up in the Reston town center for a few days. I walked around for a while before deciding on passion fish for a late lunch and I'm so glad I did. I had a glass of wine and some small plates and everything was wonderful. I had the salmon roll, the ceviche and the potstickers and I'm honestly sad I can't pop in here for happy hour more often. The bartender was super nice and very attentive to our small crew at the bar. If I'm ever back in the area, I'll be sure to come back!

Yelp
This was our first time here. I brought my fiancé for his 36th birthday and it was absolutely amazing! They printed birthday menus for him and personally wished him a happy birthday! I had the crispy flounder of which was cooked to perfection! My fiancé had the mahi and squash soup. The service was impeccable, (ask for Tim), he was our waiter and he was so very pleasant and knowledgeable! Tim gave us superb service! The ambiance was very much inviting and gave off sea vibes! I will definitely visit again!

Yelp
I've been here about 20 times and the last few have been disappointing. I just think that their food is subpar. Nothing is outstanding. The sushi is consistently good, but that's about it. I just had the seafood cobb salad and the salmon smelled funny. Service is always slow.

Yelp
Came for restaurant week with a friend for lunch today. Everything was delicious and I forgot to get pictures of it all. I started with the himachi crudo spoons: absolutely fresh and delicious. I could have just had these as a meal. My friend started with the spring rolls which were warm and crispy with a delicious and spicy dipping sauce. We both had the shrimp red curry which was tasty and the pineapple added a surprising sweet bite to it. For dessert I had the bread pudding- yummy but could have used a little more chocolate and she got the Key lime tart. Overall everything was delicious and our server was great. The only thing I will say is that their heater was not working and it was absolutely freezing in the restaurant. Had I known this prior, we probably would have gone elsewhere as it really took away from the dining experience and made it difficult to really enjoy everything and relax.

Yelp
Absolutely AMAZING for restaurant week! I realized I didn't actually make reservations for the restaurant I planned on going to and I was trying to figure out where to go last minute and called Passion Fish if they had seats available and they did! Around 7 pm, it was busy but still had a good amount of empty tables for us even without reservation. Starter - Crab Fitters were tasty with the sauce provided. I couldn't tell what the sauce was but it had hints of lemon and was surprisingly spicy. The crunch on the outside was great alongside the sauce. Entrée (which comes with a side too!) - swordfish with lemon beurre blanc sauce and roasted mushrooms as the side. Swordfish was tasty with pepper seasoning and lemon juice, kind of reminded me of chicken, but taste was elevated 1000x more with the lemon beurre blanc sauce! The sauce made it buttery and smooth, with hints of garlic I think. The beurre is a must! Mushrooms were seasoned well and enjoyable with every bite and surprisingly filling. Dessert - Pear Toffee Pudding Cake was delicious with a nice balance of bread and sweet flavours. There's a taste of alcohol in the pudding which adds a kick alongside the mint. Overall great way to end the meal. I definitely think it's worth $55 for their three course deal with the amazing portions and quality. My favourite thing about this place is the sauce they provide you for each meal so take advantage of that. Service is super friendly and nice. Everyone was dressed well and properly masked, both employees and servers. Decor is seafood related which is a little funny but very nice to look at. I have to come again!

Yelp
We made reservations for 2 at passion fish. It was my first time coming here and it was a good experience. The waiter who served us did an amazing job and the staff there was very quick. He was knowledgeable and very helpful. We ordered a half dozen oysters. I can't remember the names but half was supposed to be on the briny salty side and half sweeter. Oysters were plump and good quality. We did not get sick eating these oysters. We also ordered the passion fish roll. It was ok. Nothing special about it but nothing bad. Enjoyed it. For the entree we ordered Louisiana seafood gumbo (the main dish not the soup portion). It was tasty. I wish there was more rice but the gumbo was loaded with crawfish, shrimp, fish, sausage, etc. it was really tasty. Would definitely get again. Overall great experience. The staff was amazing and responsive.

Yelp
My wife goes for the seafood, I go for the gumbo! Great service, great food! Must save room for dessert! Smiles from the front door to the table.

Yelp
Passion Fish in Reston, Virginia is a great spot for seafood. We went during restaurant week and ordered the three-course brunch, as well as some delicious oysters to start. The standout dishes for us were definitely the appetizers, specifically the Tuna Crudo, Crab Fried Egg Rolls, and roasted eggplants. Each dish was expertly prepared and packed with flavor, and they definitely stood out more than the entrees. The entrees were still tasty, but they didn't quite live up to the high expectations set by the appetizers. The service was attentive and friendly, and the atmosphere was elegant and upscale. One downside of our experience was that the restaurant was quite noisy, which made it difficult to hold a conversation at times. Additionally, the restaurant was extremely busy so make a reservation in advance. Overall, Passion Fish is definitely worth a visit for the delicious appetizers and high-quality seafood dishes. However, the noise level might be something to keep in mind.

Yelp
We were in the area and decided to pop into Passion Fish for dinner at the bar. Reston Town Center has multiple parking garages and they weren't charging Saturday evening. Passion Fish is a block from the garage. The restaurant is large and has a nice ambiance. They proudly display their fresh seafood as you walk in the door. They shared that all fish is fresh caught except two that are flash frozen because of the length they have to travel. Impressive! It was a Saturday night and they were BUSY. Doucette was running, but she was very helpful and positive even during the busiest of times. For cocktails, we had the smoked vengeance, a tequila mule, and ended with delicious espresso martinis. For our appetizers we ordered the charbroiled oysters for my husband and I got the Peruvian ceviche. We loved both. My preference would be to have less onions and more heat in the ceviche. I would still order it again as is. For our mains, my husband ordered the gumbo. It's perfect for a cold winter evening. Fish, shrimp, andouille sausage, and a delicious sauce. I ordered the whole branzino with asparagus and a lemon beurre blanc sauce. It was flaky and delicious. This was such a lovely find. We will definitely be back again soon.
