The Food It would seem like it is a pasta kind of day, and the new selection was Pasta Bene. I ordered their Gnocchi Sausage while my friend ordered the Fettuccine Alfredo. We also got Garlic Fries to share as an appetizer. The Garlic Fries were ok, not bad, but also not impressive. I originally wanted to ask for the Gnocchi Sausage with Alfredo sauce instead. But the tomato cream sauce turned out to be good also. But I kind of want to try and see what it would taste like with Alfredo sauce...maybe next time. The Miscellaneous The restaurant is on one of the main streets, so parking might be difficult depending on time. There is a decent amount of seating with the combination of indoor and outdoor. The interior also has an open kitchen design, so you can see the operations. The staff were helpful and sincere with their service. They have a good selection from their menu including salads, sandwiches, and pizzas. The prices are also not too bad, reasonable. This is the first pasta place I tried around the area. Want to try some other places to have a comparison on how well each one is. But I guess this is not a bad start.

The pasta dishes were so delicious! Garlic bread didn’t offer much flavor. Great service, food came hot and fast.

I have been here twice, once for chicken parm (about 15 bucks) and more recently I have gone for cheese ravioli. I have concluded that the food is really freaking tasty. The portions aren’t massive for the price but, for Berkeley, it is reasonable. The food here is so delicious— I think I’m lactose intolerant but I still eat here because it’s so dang tasty… Also, there is a happy hour special for four types of pasta. The info is listed on their website. Somebody please correct me if I’m wrong, but I don’t think this information is reflected on their Snackpass menu. If this is the case, please do update it! I do like to order in advance. :)

I actually like this pasta place quite a bit. The portion is filling and you can honestly take it back home for a round two, the lasagna I had was also quite tasty and delicious. The penne Bolognese my gf had was also quite good. Overall, if you are looking for a first date spot/ small group pasta hangout spot, this place is the way to go. Employees are nice, good atmosphere and vibes, and an easy menu to choose for my indecisive friends haha. Rating: 8/10

This is an old world family-owned Italian restaurant. The atmosphere is great, with also a small patio for dining on nice days. Somehow they manage to provide very personal & attentive service! The food here is absolutely delicious! I went on a Saturday afternoon with two girlfriends, and we had such a good time! I definitely will go there again and would recommend this place for sure!

We looked for a restaurant that was open and opted for here. Thankfully it was a close walk because street parking can be a challenge. Staff were friendly and prices reasonable. It's got a cafe feel without expectations of ambiance. Food was okay but does not compare to other Italian restaurants I've been to. My chicken piccata was so so, but again, price was reasonable. I'm just not feeling a return trip.

Got a craving for Italian food in Berkeley, but want something nicer and way tastier than Gypsy's? Pasta Bene is probably for you then. The family that runs this restaurant is always friendly, and the food they serve up is delicious and quite generous in size for the price. Whether it's pizza or pasta, you're sure to get something satisfying and filling, all without breaking the bank. Each dish looks and tastes crafted with familial love and care, and everything I've tried has been excellent. My personal favorite is the chicken marsala. They have a small selection of local beers on tap, as well as a nice wine selection, so you're sure to find an excellent pairing with your food. The atmosphere is quaint and inviting. The seating can accommodate a variety of sized groups, whether dining alone or in a party of two, four, even twelve! There's also outdoor seating available, perfect for those warm summer nights. Like jazz? Even from outside, you can hear standards galore playing from the overhead speakers. If it's not your thing, it's good background for a nice restaurant setting. If it is your thing, you might find yourself toe tapping and humming along. Overall, it''s a nice, casual date spot!
