Got a craving for Italian food in Berkeley, but want something nicer and way tastier than Gypsy's? Pasta Bene is probably for you then. The family that runs this restaurant is always friendly, and the food they serve up is delicious and quite generous in size for the price.
Whether it's pizza or pasta, you're sure to get something satisfying and filling, all without breaking the bank. Each dish looks and tastes crafted with familial love and care, and everything I've tried has been excellent. My personal favorite is the chicken marsala. They have a small selection of local beers on tap, as well as a nice wine selection, so you're sure to find an excellent pairing with your food.
The atmosphere is quaint and inviting. The seating can accommodate a variety of sized groups, whether dining alone or in a party of two, four, even twelve! There's also outdoor seating available, perfect for those warm summer nights.
Like jazz? Even from outside, you can hear standards galore playing from the overhead speakers. If it's not your thing, it's good background for a nice restaurant setting. If it is your thing, you might find yourself toe tapping and humming along. Overall, it''s a nice, casual date spot!
