The 10 Worst Dishes of 2023 - Eater NY

"Pasta Corner is a French restaurant chain from a pop star that serves a skewed and simplified version of Italian pastas. They are not very good. The worst thing on the menu is a Spanish gazpacho ($6) that tasted like canned spaghetti sauce, with none the zip that vinegar ought to confer." - Robert Sietsema

We stopped by after walking around the market, and it immediately caught our attention the fresh pasta and baguettes. Expensive but delicious. We ordered the carbonara and the spaghetti with meatballs — both dishes were cooked to perfection and served with warm baguettes. Right next to it was a stand selling prosecco, wine, and beer, which paired nicely with the meal. The staff who took our order was incredibly friendly — they explained each dish with enthusiasm and care. The food truly tasted like it was made by a real Nonna. Rich, comforting, full of flavor, homemade. It was served on ceramic plates with real cutlery, and staff came around to clear the tables afterward. Seating is communal — you can order from wherever you like and sit at any open table to enjoy your meal. It’s a lively, delicious, and highly recommended stop if you’re in the area.

This spot is a must whenever I stop by the farmers market. It’s literally the best pasta I’ve ever had! The texture of the pasta is like no other and the sauce is delicious. I always order an extra one to go. The rigatoni with vodka sauce is so yummy

Google
A delightful stand at the Farmers Market offering freshly made pasta prepared on-site, along with a wide selection of noodle dishes. The food is good and recommended

Google
Absolutely super disappointed. I ordered the shrimp pasta after seeing someone else have it, expecting the same. What I got was a tiny portion of plain pasta — not a single shrimp. For $27, this is unacceptable. Feels like a total scam. Will not order from here again.

Google
We ate here twice during our trip and tried out different menu items. Both times the food was fantastic. Loved that you could see them making the fresh pasta.

Google
Lumache Pink Vodka Sauce added Burrata was tasty. However, a dish of pasta for $31 before tax & tip plus self-service was a bit pricey for me tbh. I might have to think twice if I wanna come back for this place again

Google
The food is very good. They have a variety of options despite it being called ‘the Pasta Corner’. My family wanted to have pasta and i was trying to eat a little lighter, so i ordered the burrata and grilled octopus. The food is good. The place is a little pricey. The ambience is like any other food stand in the Farmer’s Market. You can find the Pasta Corner at the end of the Market. Definitely something to try for fun and satisfaction

I wish I could give more than 5 stars for this spot! Tried it out for my first time on a busy Friday night 12/29. I expected a long wait but luckily waited no more than 5 minutes for a super hot dish. The cashier even let me know that there was pretty much no wait. The hard working kitchen staffs were cranking out orders non stop! The set up is beautiful with a display of different pastas and other Italian ingredients. The marble counter tops are super chic. When it’s your turn to order, the female cashier is so kind and personable. I asked if I could order the pappardelle with marinara instead of the standard spaghetti and to add a chicken breast and she said absolutely. I got it to dine in and was given my meal in a nice pasta dish with standard metal fork. The person handing out the orders had the most flawless makeup and was so kind and helpful! I got complementary french bread with the order which consisted of about 6 slices. The to go containers are quality and reusable. The flavor of the pasta, sauce, and chicken was delish. So fresh and hot! I make homemade pasta when I have the time so you can definitely tell that quality ingredients were used here. At first sight, $16 for a marinara dish and an additional $5 for chicken breast might seem like a lot but what isn’t these days? People pay $15 for a meal at a junky fast food restaurant. I would pay $21 for this quality, taste, and customer service any day. I look forward to making the 1.5 hour drive (on a good day) to try the other dishes here!

Yelp
Small pasta spot located inside the Farmers' Market at the Grove. Please note that parking is paid. I paid about $10 for 2 hours at the Grove structure. This was place was on the pricier side even thought it's not really a restaurant. Pastas were in the high $20s. Portions were good, I had a little of leftovers. The carbonara was really tasty and tasted authentic to me! Garlic bread was solid and had a great crunch. There is also a wine bar in the farmers market near this place so you can pair it with your pasta!

Yelp
We wanted to like this place. Advertised as all homemade pasta, we were so disappointed. We sat at their bar in front of at least 4 waiters. We were ignoredfor quite some time then my husband loudly yelled for water. I tried to order the spinach and ricotta ravioli. The waiter kept saying "Rigatoni". I kept saying "Spinach Ravioli" . I said " Pomodoro" or "marinara". The waiter looked at me like I was crazy. My husband ordered Vongole. When the food came, yes it was homemade pasta and ravioli, but a very bad quality, almost sandy and dry. My sauce was tasteless. It was tomatoes with parsley. No basil, no garlic no taste. My husbands vongole had maybe 4 small clams over tagliatelle it also had no taste. $28 for vongole $25 for ravioli. Not going back, and stay away. Just terrible.

Yelp
The pasta is soooo good. But what stole the show was the La Vera Burrata dish! This is a popular restaurant but they're efficient!
google avatar

Yelp
This small stand puts out amazing fresh pasta dishes.i just lucked upon them and awww man delicious. I even received the wrong order by accident and was super happy with it. It was so flavorful and fragrant. Sorry I forgot the name it had shallots, garlic, oregano and no sauce. Super good.
google avatar

Yelp
Their booth at the market was clean with a modern feel, but the showstopper was truly their pasta. I ordered the pesto burrata (which I'd absolutely recommend), but their handmade pasta was the star of the dish. I had fun watching the staff make the pasta and weigh it out, so overall it was a good experience! The only reason why I'd hold off on that last star is because service really does impact customer experience, and the person taking our order came across as a tad grouchy. Though overall, would recommend the food.
google avatar

Celine K.

Yelp
the pink vodka pasta was a bit too aldente and the truffle pasta was a bit unsalted. for a quick pasta spot, it's decent and located inside the farmers market at the grove.
google avatar

Michael H.

Yelp
As we passed through the different food vendor options, the Pasta Corner caught our eye. We spotted two open stools at the counter. The food was delicious and the staff very friendly and helpful. We ate as much as we could and took the rest to go. Highly recommend stopping here if you're looking for a pasta dish. It was a unique atmosphere being at the counter and seeing the employees working hard and preparing the dishes.
google avatar

Yelp
Literally the best place for casual, spur of the moment, pasta. It's definitely not a fancy spot in terms of the environment, but their food tastes so good. Don't get me wrong though, everything is in the high $20 to $30 price range, but it's well worth it. Everyone that works here has been friendly and very approachable thus far, so I have no complaints in terms of that. Same goes for their service. Every time I come here now, I order something new just so I can go through the whole menu and try it all; so far it's been great!
google avatar

Yelp
Poor customer service and inconsistent food quality. Overpriced and a rip off for poor quality of flavor The pasta noodles itself are delicious- first time I got the tagliatelle with truffle pasta it was SO flavorful and satisfying. Today I got it again cause I was craving it- I waited over 20 mins cause they lost my ticket with almost no line. It tasted like water even after dumping two containers worth of Parmesan just to give it some flavor. $33 for this RIP OFF.
google avatar

Vanessa B.

Yelp
I was excited to try them and it looked good when the food came but tasted so mediocre. Cost too much for "okay" food. Food definitely needs more flavor and garlic bread was tough!

Yelp
I had seen this spot before but this time around decided to try it out, after all I love me some pasta! It's located at the Farmer's Market in the back, near the Gumbo Pot. It looks bright and fancy. The lady was measuring and packing up some pasta, they sell uncooked pasta you can purchase to bring home. It definitely was pricey but I thought maybe it would be worth it. I ended up going with the Lumache Marsala Chicken & Mushrooms ($25). The food took about 15 minutes to get prepared. The sauce tasted decent but was salty. It did come with quite a bit of mushrooms and chicken so I appreciate that but the chicken was dry. Maybe I should have tried the shrimp scampi instead. I'm not sure if I'd give this place another try but if I do I would definitely try something different.

Yelp
Absolutely delicious! Whenever we would visit family in LA the farmers market is always on the agenda. We love to sit, eat, drink, and enjoy each others time. The vibes are always on point and it's a favorite memory of mine. This pasta corner is new to me but they did not disappoint. It was so flavorful and balanced. I loved the spice with the shrimp and it wasn't very fishy, which I loved. The service was quick even though it was busy. The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable of the menu.
google avatar

Taylor R.

Yelp
The spaghetti aglio was super flavorful and delicious! The garlic bread was soft and had the perfect amount of garlic and seasonings. The portion sizes were a little small for the price (I paid $30) of the pasta with no protein. However, great flavor! I would try something else for a lower price point but it was fun to try and you can never turn away fresh homemade noodles!
google avatar

Natalie Y.

Yelp
Pasta lacked flavor, the truffle flakes were prominent but other than that the whole plate felt lackluster and lacked sauce. Underwhelming and overpriced. The garlic bread had good flavor but the bread was stale. Everything in this picture costs $45 in total. Sadly it missed the mark and ingredients didn't feel fresh and lack depth/heart. You're better off spending your $45 elsewhere at the Farmer's Market at the Grove- especially if you're a visitor/tourist.
google avatar

Ju P.

Yelp
With all the food selections to eat at the Farmer's Market, this place would have probably been the most $$$ spent. The pasta dishes were each around $25-28. The pastas were both good but with spending that much on each dish, I might as well go to a restaurant considering the portions. For the vongole, they provide a great amount of clams and the pink vodka sauce "Vincent's favorite" was appetizing.
google avatar

Jonathan S.

Yelp
Ordered the Spaghetti Scampi, Papparadelle Pesto Burrata, and Lasagna. Really good food fresh and quick service. It was interesting seeing them make the pasta from scratch . Great service. They also have dining counter seating area on the side.
google avatar

Gill M.

Yelp
Saw that there was a small line going at a consistent speed so we waited in line. It was Saturday evening and there was limited pasta so it was understandable. 20 minute wait since they cook it fresh - ready in time. Ordered it to-go, hence the plastic, but dining in would have metal forks and knives and a white bowl. Pasta looked small but is very filling and heavy. It's a lot more than you think and is delicious and worth it! Customer service is amazing and they are friendly - Please don't be upset at them for running out of pasta or the wait time! They are a small restaurant/shop in the Farmer's Market at the Grove. Support your local small businesses!

Yelp
food was really good in my opinion. i got the ravioli ricotta e spinaci and it was delicious and a good portion. could've been more for the price though. the service was good as well! due to this being in the farmer's market at the grove, it was a little chaotic at times and somewhat limited seating by the restaurant.
google avatar

Francine L.

Yelp
I haven't been to the Farmers Market Los Angeles location in such a long time that a few new places have popped up and one of the tasteful ones is this Pasta Corner. It sells fresh pasta daily and its menu items have plenty of variety. From squid ink, ravioli, and black truffle, I believe you will be able to find one suited for you. I ordered the clam pasta and asked for a little spice added to it. They were happy to do it and the pasta tasted so good. I'm a fan and would like to check them out more. This was my first visit but for sure not my last. The pasta was cooked perfectly and filled with flavor. Loved every bite.
google avatar

Yelp
Farmer's market parking with 90 min validation. Takes credit card. Very nice staff. Had the scampi spaghetti special. Very savory. Noodle are nice and al dente. Good portions. Friend had carbonara. Was real yummy.
google avatar

Alma Z.

Yelp
Delicious pasta! I had the black truffle tagliatelle with chicken. It was a little pricey at $30+, though to be fair the black truffle pasta was the most expensive I noticed on the menu. For the area the price is in a normal range. A very decent portion that filled me up without going overboard. The service was quick but it was a weekday at 5pm and I think during peak hours might take longer. The booth looks clean," and organized and they give you a little control that notifies you when your food is ready so you don't miss it.
google avatar

Kay Y.

Yelp
Pretty great and fresh pasta! Came here for holiday shopping at first and browsed the market place for a quick grub being that I got hungry. Staff was very prompt and genuinely nice and friendly they were kind to place out a water cup for my pupp frida as well. I got the squid ink with a luminary and It was the right amount of sweet and salty. The limonata is amazing! Don't ever discontinue stocking that! Lol
google avatar

Mailani S.

Yelp
This was so good. My sister and I love lasagna and this was perfect. We split this dish between the two of us and it was more than enough food. The sauce was rich and creamy. The cheese on top was perfectly flamed. Definitely give it a second to cool down because the cheese is incredibly hot at first. I can't wait to come back. If you sit at the pasta bar you can see them cook your dish and make pasta!
google avatar

Helen T.

Yelp
when i ordered Bolognese, they gave me tomato meat sauce with spaghetti. Tastes like Spaghetti Meatballs without meatballs. Tastes nothing different as Cheesecake Factory, but same price as Felix Venice Beach. Just so you know!
google avatar

Rochelle M.

Yelp
My daughter chose Pasta Corner for her lunch at The Grove. She ordered the Spaghetti Cacio E Pepe -- it was so, so GOOD! The pasta was perfect and flavorful. The portion was large enough to share. The staff were all very nice. The wait was incredibly long. But after having their pasta, my daughter said it was worth it. :)
google avatar

Yelp
unfortunately overpriced mediocre pasta :') there's a lot of great italian places in la that i would go to over this, it's not bad but i wouldn't pay $20+ again for this. small stand in the corner of the grove farmer's market, i like that they display all the different pasta types but i would not get this again coming to the grove
google avatar

MossBurger C.

Yelp
headed to this place for some pesto pasta. located in a outdoor food court. exterior and interior just a small booth with open kitchen. some counter seating and shared tables with other vendors. 1.5 hour validated parking. simple menu of freashly made italian style pastas like spaghetti and mearballs, lasgna, tagatelle in bolognse etc. ordered what i came for lumache in pesto with sliced procuiitto and dollop of freah mozza. they cook to order. waited 20 minutes and got the food. total damage $25. and the verdict? its good and bad. classic case of quality over taste. while quality was top notch like fresh pasta, cooked nicely al dente, good procuissto, and fresh mozza , i have to give a low grade on the taste. the dish was just too salty. so much that i could not taste the pesto. and add the salty procuitto they put in the top, its just salt on top of salt. could not eat anymore aftet a few bites. ending up taking it home and cooking extra pasta and adding it and that made it better as added pasta and liquied helped dilute the saltjness. so while quality is good and visually pleasing, end of the day taste is whats most important and just wasnt that good for me. so give 4 star for quality and 2 star for taste with my avg score of 3 star.
google avatar

Katherine R.

Yelp
Yum yum yummmm! I knew it was going to be good when I pulled up the QR code menu and it has you choose the location .. "Los Angeles or Paris". The cacio e Pepe was creamy, homemade, and delicious. I can't resist a caprese whenever I see it on the menu; it did not disappoint. Fresh basil and balsamic. Yum!! The perfect lunch spot and quick service.
google avatar

Michaella M.

Yelp
First time at the Pasta corner. The service was friendly and quick. Food was ok, I don't think it's worth the price. The two meals cost us $49 + tip.
google avatar

Andrea Z.

Yelp
One of the best pastas I've had! Definitely recommend the Shrimp Scampi and garlic bread as well! It's a little pricey but worth it! Service was great and came out quick! There's a lot of sitting areas in front of the place and as well as all around due to the rest of places. Such a cute farmers market to pass by! Don't forget to validate your ticket!
google avatar

Benjamin S.

Yelp
Very impressed with this diminutive homemade pasta spot at the farmers market. Tried the pesto with burrata and was very impressed with the pasta and pesto sauce. The ball of burrata was a little tougher than I would have preferred though. Looking forward to trying other dishes there.
google avatar

Em E.

Yelp
Ordered two pasta dishes, garlic bread, and tiramisu. The pastas both were terribly salty - and we love salt - and had a gross smoky cigarette flavor, like the cook was smoking while cooking. I'm sure it's something more innocuous like something nearby caught fire, but it was gross. The final straw was when we pulled out the tiramisu and found mold growing on it. They couldn't even peek at that before sending it out the door? Waste of money, upset tummies.
google avatar

Jason S.

Yelp
Delicious pasta, big portions, full of flavor. A 5 star restaurant kinda Italian dishes at reasonable prices.Absolutely delishhh
google avatar

Gabe E.

Yelp
Food was delicious and very fresh. Tons of outdoor seating and although the pricing in most places in the Farmers Market tends to be slightly on the higher end, the quality and taste was worth every bite at Pasta Corner. Definitely going to be trying more on this menu next time I'm in the area! Great ambiance and the counter service was also quick and easy.
google avatar

Brenda C.

Yelp
Authentic Italian pasta! The pasta was delicious and the serving size is pretty good compared to some other Italian places. However, it's a bit pricey as all pastas were over $20 and some didn't have any protein. We thought we would have room for dessert but the portion was pretty filling. Since the food is made to order, it does take a bit of time but luckily they give you a buzzer so you don't have to wait and can go checkout other food in the meantime. Would definitely come back again to try other dishes!
google avatar

Denise L.

Yelp
A hidden gem in the farmers market! Friend and I came when they were having a Mardi Gras celebration. We wanted to try out Pasta Corner which right by where the live band was. We got the lumanche pink vodka sauce and the tagliatelle alle vongole. It was cool to see that they were also selling fresh pasta by the pound and making them in the back. Our orders were so delicious. Simple and tasty. Both had a little spicy kick to them. The pasta was chewy and al dente and the sauce was so flavorful. The portions were also perfectly filling. So good!!!
google avatar

Yelp
Hand making artisan pasta at the LA Farmers Market. The Market is awesome with something for everyone. We sampled several restaurants, but Pasta Corner was our favorite. The staff is friendly and engaging and the food is fantastic. We tried the meatball app and the spinach and ricotta raviolis. You can get your choice of sauces which are all top quality.
google avatar

Yelp
My niece is visiting us from Switzerland . Today she had ordered food, and the order was not correct, my niece has dietary issues. The staff was not only rude.. they did not attempt to fix the order. My niece ended up sick shortly after this. The staff however did do something , they ended up talking about her behind her back in Spanish , they even said to add more of the ingredient , knowing that she asked to have it removed, but to their surprise the staff did not know that my niece is fluent in Spanish . My niece heard everything they said about her, she heard them say add more of that ingredient . It wasn't very nice of them and certainly not what I would expect of this restaurant. The staff needs to be trained , and really improve their service. The location of this place was at the Grove. July 29 2024 . Thanks Pasta Corner.!!
google avatar

Vivek D.

Yelp
Not pasta from Italia, but it was quite tasty. This turned out to be my final meal in Los Angeles before heading out on my redeye flight back home. I had the Lumache Pink Vodka Sauce Pasta. It was good, although I think it probably needed to be cooked a bit longer and maybe a little more vodka sauce. Still pretty tasty though. At $25, the price is a bit steep, but you're also in the Farmers Market.
google avatar

Elaine L.

Yelp
SO good. Came across this new spot at the Farmer's Market and is now one of my favorite spots there! All the food came out pretty quick, and loved that the pasta was all handmade and you can taste how fresh it is. Probably the best Vongole I've had hands down, we really enjoyed the calamari (not breaded) and the truffle pasta. Also liked how the dishes came in nice plates!
google avatar

Mari I.

Yelp
We tried a casher's recommendation! Both black truffle and pink vodka sauce were delicious!! We really liked. I prefered the past a tiny softer.
google avatar

Isa m.

Yelp
I got the jalapeño croissant which I ate before pictures. It was the best croissant I've had in a long while. The flakiness in all their pastries is amazing!
google avatar

Megan B.

Yelp
Order takes about 15 minutes. They give you a little buzzer so you can still roam around the area while you wait for your food. Very fresh. Garlic bread was delicious. Crisp on the edges, very soft in the center.
google avatar

Su-jen Y.

Yelp
Pretty good but pretty expensive. $25 ish for a plate of pasta without protein??? It was delicious but not mind blowing. Tiramisu was pretty good though, it had more flavors than the one I make at home haha
google avatar

Jt V.

Yelp
I've eaten here plenty of times before and it has never disappointed, which is why I felt comfortable tonight shelling out 30 bucks for pasta... but this time it did.... And BADLY. I ordered a dish I've ordered before, but today it tasted like a microwaved boxed meal. If you are asking a third of a hundred dollars for pasta, I'm sorry, but you can't miss like this. I can't justify the cost if I'm not sure whether I'm getting fresh pasta that day, or a couple days old leftovers. Never again. (And that makes me sad, bc when it was good, it was good.)
google avatar

Gabrielle A.

Yelp
Pasta Corner is awesome and my staple at the grove. I love that you can see them making the pasta fresh in front of you. I love the pink sauce and the cacio e pepe. I tried the garlic bread today, it's delicious!
google avatar

Yung R.

Yelp
Some of the pasta I've tasted in LA absolutely nailed it. I don't know how to correctly spell the names of the dishes but just know you will not leave here disappointed.
google avatar

Nia J.

Yelp
I'm in love with this place. I love to sit at the counter and watch the fresh pasta get made! I recommend any pasta off their menu, everything is always fresh hot and delicious. Favorites of mine are the arribiata, cacio y pepe, and the bolognese. The folks who run this shop are so lovely and always make me smile. Yes, the pastas are pricey it's comparable to dining in at an Osteria joint with the price of the pasta, but just as delicious. Always eating here when I come to the grove service is excellent as always. The ambience is the Grove farmers market. If you're not familiar, sometimes it's busy and sometimes less. I recommend dining for here instead of to go and sit at their counter if it's open. :)
google avatar

Amber M.

Yelp
WOW! I was very impressed with this food. Sometimes in LA you don't get what you pay for. At $25+ per entree, thankfully this spot exceeded my expectations!! The flavor PACKED. The texture of the pasta PERFECT. The sauce RICH. I cannot wait to go back and try other pastas, but for your first time you canNOT go wrong with the signature Lumache Pink Vodka Sauce Pasta. The sauce has a kick to it, overall IRRESISTIBLE.
