Where To Go After A Game While The Stadium Traffic Clears - Philadelphia - The Infatuation

"One thing you would assume they’d nail at the stadiums is hoagies. You can get child-sized (like literally the size of a three-year-old child) buckets of fries and "ice cream from the future,” but it’s basically impossible to find a vendor that does a good Italian hoagie. While we petition the Philadelphia Stadium Board to open a decent sandwich shop in at least one of the arenas, save your appetite and head to Pastificio after the game. It’s mostly a market, but they have a deli counter that makes a really good Italian hoagie, as well as a bunch of other sandwiches." - sydney mcelwee

Where to Eat Near Lincoln Financial Field, Home of the Philadelphia Eagles | Eater Philly

"The fresh pasta shop that’s also known for its house-made mozzarella molded into shapes like the Eagles logo and turkeys for Thanksgiving sells a nice selection of Italian hoagies and hot sandwiches too." - Sarah Maiellano

Pastificio - Review - South Philly - Philadelphia - The Infatuation

"Pastificio is a tiny market in South Philly where you can buy homemade pasta and other Italian goods, but they also have a deli counter that makes a really solid Italian hoagie (as well as a bunch of other sandwiches that aren’t bad either). Stop here on your way to or from a game at Citizens Bank Park for food that’s much better than the stadium hot dogs. Unless it’s dollar dog day, in which case, we don’t blame you for wearing cargo shorts to carry as many dogs as you can fit in the pockets." - Sydney McElwee

Google
Great place for a big south philly style Italian sandwich, but I'll often just get a pound of Thumann's Italian Roast Beef and 6 fresh hard rolls to take home. If you order a pound, you can grab a container of roast beef juice from the freezer case. I think they have available from their own in-house roast beef. In any case, it's great to have a deli case that carries Thumann's. They also tend to have a modest selection of imported pre-packaged foods like chocolates, Italian Peach Iced Tea in 1.5 L bottles or things a bit more exotic. Anyways, loved them for years. Maybe try them a bit before or after the lunch rush if you can.

Google
I got the cheesesteak rice ball and cheesesteak raviolis. Everybody loves this place so I am going to complain. 1. I love bread pudding. They had a handmade sign; ‘New Item!! Homemade Bread Pudding.’ I got very excited and ordered the Bread pudding. They were sold out!! 2. I didn’t see my picture on the wall of fame. The Phanatic is on there twice. Granted we all love the Phanatic. But come on. Two of him/her/it and none of me?!?!? 3. I was racially profiled. They knew I wasn’t a south Philly Italian and gave me ketchup with my raviolis. I felt like Henry Hill at the end of Goodfellas, I’m a nobody. -sidebar- The raviolis were undercooked but that is okay. I found a new way to cook them. 1 minute in the microwave and 3 minutes in the Air Fryer. Video of air fried raviolis at end of review video. It was my 1st rice ball. I liked it. The raviolis (minus the ketchup) were very good.

Google
One of the best chicken cutlet, sharp provolone, and broccoli rabe sandwiches you’ll have in Philadelphia. Pastificio is a staple in South Philly. Plenty of options to choose from, and even some amazing homemade pasta to take back home. Old school authentic Italian delicatessen.

Thomas P.

Google
Excellent selection of Italian imported products. Great hoagies and hot sandwiches for lunch. Try the new fried pumpkin raviolis!...excellent!..Frank and Anthony know their stuff!..thanks fellas!!

Melinda C.

Google
Never fails, sandwiches and sides are delicious! I usually order delivery because they always deliver earlier than the estimated time to my workplace. I went to the store for the first time the other day and I didn't realize they also have a few grocery items too! Good to know for future!

Google
Been wanted to check Pastificio Deli for awhile now, so I decided to take a bike ride out there to finally check it out. The atmosphere inside the deli was great, very clean and organize with welcoming and friendly staff. I order an Italian hoagie and the cheesesteak ravioli, the Italian hoagie was great the seeded roll was bake to perfection one of the softest seeded roll I had in awhile. The cheesesteak ravioli with the Sriracha ketchup was outstanding, and to top it off they make homemade pasta as well 100% authentic. I definitely recommend checking Pastificio Deli out if your in the South Philly area, you would not be disappointed.

Google
Top top top quality & Service. Classic Italian Can't be beat. Great people & creative menu. Great Macaroni also!

Briana M.

Google
Stopped here before a sixers game, and I was not expecting to have SUCH a good hoagie. Always have to try one hot and one cold. The italian had a great variety of quality meats and had a perfect ratio of meat to toppings. The OMG cutlet was simple but tasty- we chose the grilled version and it was like a caprese salad in a hoagie. Would return for sure to try another style. Staff was awesome too, and prices were super reasonable.

Yelp
Great deli in South Philly. I found it via an Instagram user named The Godfather of Meat who did a review. I went with the fried chicken cutlet with mozzarella, broccoli rabe and balsamic drizzle. It was delish. I grabbed a side of tortellini salad. Again, it was delicious. The place is tucked away in a strip mall and could be a little difficult to find. It's near the stadiums (Phillies, Eagles, Flyers) so you can pick up hero's (hoagies) and tailgate.

Lisa R.

Yelp
The salads are amazing!! Everything is great.. I have tried quite a few different items and never disappointed. I drive over from Jersey to shop !! The service is great and it always smells amazing when you open the door!!!

Yelp
Came here during lunch to try some authentic Italian sandwiches. The staff were nice and attentive so they got my order in quick. I got a small turkey sandwich and a small Italian sandwich. When I got home, they had given me a turkey sandwich and a ham sandwich. To my disappointment, the small sandwiches are actually pretty small for the price.
google avatar

Stu J.

Yelp
Their hoagies and cutlets are some of the best in the city. The cug is my favorite. It's Marinated Mozzarella, Fried Eggplant & Imported Hot Dry Capicollo.

Mark P.

Yelp
Everything here is fantastic! The staff is very helpful and always willing to assist. The hardest part is walking in and narrowing down all the options on the menu to choose from.
google avatar

Nick C.

Yelp
Great deli/market on Packer tucked into an unassuming strip mall. Pictures do it justice. Plenty of options to choose from, and service is quick. Very limited outdoor seating only.

Yelp
I celebrated national hoagie day with an Italian hoagie from Pastificio. This hoagie was made by a true craftsman. The perfect ratio of cheese to meats to lettuce to oil to roll that made each bite literally the perfect bite. It was very easy to eat and not messy. I can't give it 5 stars because of the roll. It was not up to the standards of the rest of the hoagie. I'll definitely order from Pastificio again, and maybe if I get a really fresh roll I will bump this up to 5 stars.

Yelp
Do you need a good Italian deli in your life? Check this place out. We had just spent the week eating our faces off in Philly so needed a good lunch salad to give ourselves a break. And they delivered. Fresh veggies, and just a little antipasti to make it substantial. It was a great salad to split. Even the redwing blackbird in FDR park wanted in on the action. The sandwiches they were making for hungrier customers looked tempting - I would have gotten one for a picnic or lunch on the road any other day. The deli selection was enticing, but it was all the fresh pasta that was making me dizzy. Oh - and if you even need to send someone a food basket, this is the place to get it from. Don't mess about with dreadful muffin baskets. Be generous!

Jeff K.

Yelp
This place is so clean and food is so good it will take you off your diet ,try the chicken cutlet sandwich with vodka sauce. It's out of this world every time I get something here It's amazing if you haven't tried it try it.
google avatar

Darby C.

Yelp
Everything about this place is awesome. The Italian hoagie is perfection. The staff is friendly and helpful. I love it when I'm in town and get to eat here.
google avatar

Brian M.

Yelp
Don't know why this is only one $. Got a grilled chicken salad and a water it was over $20. Taste wise was good, but $20 for a single serving salad seems a bit much.
google avatar

Amy K.

Yelp
This is the best sandwich/hoagie I've ever had. Absolutely delicious. Bread and meats and cheese is fresh and very flavorful. Mwah!

Adelina C.

Yelp
Italian deli with all your go to Italian specials... very welcoming and clean.. fresh home made pasta to go or take home fresh to make

Yelp
Great lunch sandwiches, super quick service and delivery. Other items for sale in the store.

Yelp
Was my go-to for cutlets and hoagies for years since I am a neighbor. Unfortunately, two sandwiches recently ordered were ruined due to the rolls. Dark crusted, hard and doughy overwhelmed the other ingredients. So many new shops are getting it right. What's up with my favorite spot?
google avatar

John K.

Yelp
Meatball sub was cold and sauce was bland. Chicken cutlet was dry and bread was rubbery and chewy.
google avatar

Ginger B.

Yelp
I wish I could find a deli like this one in Atlanta. Sandwiches are DELICIOUS!!! Meatballs are DELICIOUS!!! Tortellini salad is DELICIOUS!!! They have fresh bread, pretty decent cheese selection, oils/vinegars, olives, etc. I wanted to try everything. The service was fast and friendly. You can call and order ahead if needed because they appear to get busy. Limited seating - two small tables outside. I will be back next time I'm in Philly.
google avatar

Ji B.

Yelp
Ordered the cobb salad and I was thoroughly surprised with how much chicken they added! Usually salads skimp on the meat but this one was full of it! It was almost too much meat, but I'm not complaining! I would've given a 5 star review for the salad, but the waffle fries were low key inedible! So disappointing! They were soooo hard! Not sure if they were such old fries or they became that hard during a short delivery.
google avatar

Josh S.

Yelp
Best hoagies in Philadelphia. Been stopping here for quite a few years now ... better than primo's and Wawa trash. Stop in and try a hoagie. You will not be disappointmented.
google avatar

Yelp
Go-to spot for authentic South Philly sambos! Always fresh ingredients that will leave you wanting to come back to try something new.

Yelp
Philly loves their hoagies so I knew I had to try some this time around, since I forgot to on my last Philly trip. Unfortunately I was not impressed with the Italian hoagie that I had ordered here at Pastificio. First it took forever to actually make the hoagie, especially with no one in line prior to us ordering. It's likes they were making phone orders instead and had us waiting for a real long time. Once we got our order in, we dug right in. The bread was kind of hard to bite into and thought it would at least be fresh and warm. Also, the meat to bread ratio was 1:4. Way too much bread and not enough meat and cheese. It did taste good and did end up filling me up, but mostly because of the bread. I hate to say it, but I may have tasted better Italian hoagies at a couple of national sandwich chains. Don't think I'll be returning here for a hoagie.

Jeffery G.

Yelp
Fantastic highly recommend for pasta, sauce, meatballs, bread, lunch meat and hoagies. Been coming here for years always top quality product and service
google avatar

Jack M.

Yelp
I ordered the Classic Italian Hoagie. The bread was to thick and tough. It dominated the hoagie. The ingredients were fresh and seemed fine. But the bread overtook everything.
google avatar

Zach S.

Yelp
I enjoy their food and I think it's a good place, but unfortunately I am disappointed about two things there. One is I didn't get my order one day when supposedly it was delivered. Then on another occurrence I got shaken down by the delivery driver since I forgot to add a tip and the order wasn't even right. Now I know the delivery driver is trying to make a dollar but still. But other than that it's been a good spot to go to but for those instances I knocked off two stars.
google avatar

Dana S.

Yelp
Came here cause my brother the yelp elite recommended this spot for lunch. He was raving about how good the hoagies were and how huge! So I had to see for myself how good they are. We called in a pick up while we were having a play date with our kids and about to go to FDR park. I got the ham and cheese hoagie which I don't usually get but thought I was sharing with my daughter who ended up getting McNuggets instead. The hoagies were long and had some weight to them. We ended up taking the hoagies to a playground near our house in Somerton and we were getting all these stares as we were eating the huge tasty hoagies. The roll was so fresh and had a nice toughness about them. I like when the roll is a little tough on the outside and soft in the middle. The sandwich was packed with meat and cheese and now I can understand why they had some serious weight to them. While we were eating a couple of people came up to us asking if the hoagie was from around Somerton and we told them where we got them- they looked bummed but said that they didn't think it was from around here- cause there's no hoagie places that serves sandwiches like that around here. Which is true Somerton doesn't have any really good hoagie shops and you have to drive to get good hoagies- and now I know I'd have to make the drive back down here to get another scrumptious hoagie from here.
google avatar

JerPz ..

Yelp
I was ordering, yet again, and we got disconnected mid call. They called me back to ensure my order was right and complete. Just awesome! And, hoagie is great each time.
google avatar

Michelle K.

Yelp
Hidden gem! Food is great. Fresh ingredients at a reasonable price. Brother recommended and long time friend recommended this place. Definitely did not disappointed, I would definitely would bring my other friends and family here
google avatar

Yelp
I was looking for a takeout hoagie spot close to the stadiums and luckily stumbled upon Pastifico, in the corner of a strip mall on Packer Ave, just west of Broad. My hot roast pork with rabe and long hots was top notch. My gf and I also split some fried ravioli with a marinara dipping sauce. These are not to be missed. #droolemoji #ialmostdrankthemarinara . She also got an inside-out, which is something like a fried calzone. It too was scrumptious. Next time I'm down South Philly and looking for a quick sandwich fix, I will eagerly head back to Pastificio!

Ben K.

Yelp
The turkey and cheese hoagie was amazing! It's a very authentic Philly Deli that has outstanding service. When you walked in you can smell all the fresh bread and the menus have so many great options. If you're looking for a great sub. You I've to go to Pastificio. Straight
google avatar

Michelle C.

Yelp
Now that the weather is getting nicer, we've been getting into a groove on weekends that includes a long bike ride and hoagie pick-up from Pastificio. It's easy to place an order online and then, when you arrive, just give them a call and someone will bring the order outside. On my first visit I tried the Pastificio hoagie, which is a delicious twist on a more traditional Italian hoagie. I lightened things up for my second visit with a turkey and cheese hoagie, which was also delish. The bread is really great - harder on the outside, with a smattering of sesame seeds, but soft in the middle. Looking forward to my next sandwich!

Paca C.

Yelp
amazingly Fresh Pasta ! Wow so happy with this discovery ! the spinach ricotta ravioli and gnocchi were so Light !!!!
google avatar

Jeffrey R.

Yelp
I live in S. Jersey but whenever I land in PHL, I make a beeline here for an Italian Tuna hoagie. NEVER disappoints! I guess I should probably try other offerings but haven't to date.
google avatar

Matt Z.

Yelp
Great food! I got the meatball sub and it tasted amazing! The people that work here are super nice! Easy recommendation!

Angel C.

Yelp
Definitely wont order here again. Placed the order at 9:30 AM and was told it would be delivered by 11:45. At 11:50 when they didn't show i called and was given an attitude right away. I was just calling to make sure i didn't miss the delivery. Good food, trash service.

Rosa F.

Yelp
Food is very good but the service is horrible. Will NEVER order from there. We placed an order we're given the wrong sandwich. When we called to let them know and ask for store credit they refused. We were frequent customers. They have lost our service. I didn't get home from work until 7:30. I tried calling but the store was closed. Saturday I was ill and not able to do anything which is why I didn't call Saturday. It's okay. We really liked your place but have found a much better place.
google avatar

Breezy C.

Yelp
I'm going to give it 4 stars and this is why. Their sandwiches are sooooooooooo good I'm not gonna lie. I normally order a medium (half of a whole ) One thing I don't like is my bread sometimes be a little harder than normal but I understand it's "Italian bread" they said. One day I ordered a large (a whole entire roll and it was absolutely soft) SO I feel like I have to order a large in order to get some soft bread) Secondly they are a slightly bit expensive for a sandwich. A small is almost $10 a medium is almost $15 and a large is almost $30 Also a tiny cup of dessert $8 that's ridiculous $5 okay I would of bought it but I'm not paying $8 for 6-8oz of cake. Other then that it's really nice place.
google avatar

Fia M.

Yelp
Fantastic hoagies, fresh meat and fresh veggie toppings! Good price and great quality, well built ! Chicken noodle soup was decent also, nice rich broth! Great customer service. Will definitely return!

Yelp
In the area for business. We ordered lunch from here to the Navy Yard. Everyone loved it. Personally ordered the hot roast pork sub. First time having this Philly specialty. It was fantastic, hot juicy and a great roll. Would absolutely order again when in town no matter what it is on the menu.

Internet U.

Yelp
It is ok. I don't know how this ever won for best. It's not the best. You don't see them make the product so I have no input on that.
google avatar

Yelp
We stopped by on our way to the airport for some hoagies (since the first place we tried was closed). Picked up to to go and there were fresh and delicious. While this place is pretty small it has a nice deli selection with prosciutto and interesting sandwiches or hoagies as they are know in Philly. They also have hot sandwiches and soup. They had the Italian wedding soup when we were there. My husband does not pass a freezer full of pasta, meatballs, lasagne without taking some home. So we both were glad to find this place (it is right next to chickie and petes) so when you are in the neighborhood or even if you are not- stop by and pick up some yummy food from this local place. I loved it and will be back in April when we are in town.

Tony M.

Yelp
HIGHLY RECOMMEND. I love this place. Hoagies and sandwiches are awesome. Only reason I did not give them 5 stars are because of their salads. PLEASE don't get me wrong, the salad was delicious. I'm just trying to eat healthy for the new year. My Cobb salad had more chicken than veggies. I had so much chicken left over I was able to make two extra salads the next day with the extra chicken and bacon. Good and bad thing I guess. ‍‍ Always been my favorite hoagie spot for a while. Just need some more veggies with the salads though.
google avatar

Amanda S.

Yelp
One of the best hoagie places in the city! Friendly staff and easy parking available.

Yelp
Great Food. Always Fresh. Quick friendly delivery and service. Love the variety of the menu.

Yelp
Delicious place to grab a sandwich before a concert at Wells Fargo Center. The mozzarella bella was outstanding. The cheese was incredibly fresh and the roasted red peppers were on point. The bread was perfect as well. Highly recommend this sandwich. The formaggi was good too, just felt a bit dry especially after trying the bella sandwich. Let them know if you want oil, vinegar, mayo on your sandwich! I ordered online and didn't realize, but they were kind enough to give it to us on the side.
google avatar

Yelp
This is the most beautiful and delicious hoagie I have ever had. The rolls are a perfectly soft yet chewy, the meat is fresh, and the toppings are high quality. I will only get my hoagies from Pastificio moving forward. DELICIOUS Always so delicious! Thank you again!

Peter J.

Yelp
We stopped here frequently for tailgating supplies at Eagles games. Awesome hoagies and food in general. Great service suggest you call ahead on game days.

Yelp
We always got our fresh pasta from Matteo's. I didn't realize they moved to NJ so I was extremely sad to hear that and texting others that still live to try to find another great, fresh pasta grocer and that's when someone recommended Pastificio and boy am I glad they did! First of all, their hours are WAY better than Matteo's! They were open until 9:00 pm on a Friday night which made it easier on us because we didn't have to rush around and we were able to easily avoid traffic by going a little later. They are located next to Chickie's and Pete's so the parking is much easier than trying to find a tiny street spot. Now, that's not to say it's easy...just easier. It depends on the day, the time of day and whether there's a game. In our case it was a Friday around 6:30 so Chickie's was mobbed, as was the parking lot but we found a spot relatively quickly. The first woman that helped us was an older woman and she was not warm and fuzzy, nor did she make us feel welcomed or helped. I asked if they had a list of their fresh pastas (since there was no sign and they were in a fridge behind the counter). She said no, but there's all of the usual stuff and started rattling off pasta. I basically knew what I wanted but since it was our first time here, I did want to see all of my choices. We asked her another question and she gave more attitude. We wound up getting passed off to a younger girl and I was thrilled about that because she was kind and helpful and offered good customer service. Turns out there was a list of fresh pasta in their paper menu. We got two, one pound, fresh mozzarella braids which were $10 each. She recommended we get hem salted which we did and they were delicious! The fresh pasta was amazing!!! We got gnocchi and fresh ravioli. I'm never a huge ravioli fan. I like them but typically prefer gnocchis. Well, these Ravis were a game changer! They were sooooo good. The gnocchis were good too but I would definitely itely go with the ravioli over the gnocchi. Yum! We got fresh provolone cut into chunks. The chunks were pretty large and the cheese was verrrry sharp! It was great! Also got small pepperoni rounds. They were also good! Spent about 70 bucks for those cheeses and pepperoni, three dozen ravioli and three pounds of gnocchi. It smelled really good inside and was a relatively large space. They also make sandwiches. We thought about bringing some home for dinner that night but ultimately didn't. We will be returning for sandwiches AND pasta in the future, though! So good! Highly recommend this place! Super glad it was recommended to me!

Yelp
Shared an Italian and Chicken cutlet hoagie with a buddy before the Eagles game yesterday. Chicken cutlet made me think of my grandmother's...pounded nice and thin and seasoned to perfection. Thank you for such an amazing job and bringing back a wonderful memory of my grandmother. 10 stars!
