Pat LaFrieda’s

Pat LaFrieda's is the main sit-down restaurant at Citi Field and is located within the Clover Home Plate Club, which is on the field level right behind home plate. You need Metropolitan Box seats or better to enter this club, so keep that in mind. There is a big bar, couches, and some concession stands, but the main attraction here is Pat's steakhouse. The restaurant tonight was very busy, but the service was fast, and our food was solid. You can even watch indoor batting practice from this establishment. While we still prefer NYY steakhouse in Yankee Stadium as our favorite stadium restaurant, this place was pretty good and worth a visit if you have the right ticket.

This restaurant is all about expectations. You should not expect a high-end steakhouse. This is not one of them. This is a place that serves good food to be had before or after a game at city Field. It turns out that the appetizers salads and filet mignon were just incredible.again we expected a lot less what we given a very good piece of me.. If you’re looking for value, this is not the place. Prices were high for what it was but again they’re only open for the season. I would go back.

Great ballpark meal with very pleasant service. Call ahead and get a table overlooking the indoor batting cages. Filet sandwich was delicious as was the burger. Everyone at the table was pleased with their choices: Berkshire Chop, Strip Steak, and Surf and Turf. Would come again.

We visited again, where do I begin on how nice the staff and Steve the Manager is. The food was delicious, again! So because we arrived close to game time Steve the Manager made sure we had all our left over food in to go containers so we can finish at the seat, even dessert. Its really nice that every customer matters here. If your not happy talk to Steve, he is a pleasure. We were close to the Tv and didn’t miss the National Anthem. I looked around the restaurant and it was nice to see that everyone stopped eating and talking, including the staff to show respect. We enjoyed everything! The wings were so crisp and crunchy , very delicious! Thanks Again Steve!!!

We always have a very , Oh so yummy delicious Burger here before a game. I want to mention that the staff is amazing !!! But Steve, the Manager goes above and beyond to check in on us every-time we dine here . I really believe he gets joy in knowing we are enjoying the food and having a good time. In all the stadiums I have visited he exceeds the general expectation of hospitality. He is an absolute pleasure and his team of staff are too!! We look forward to his friendly smile and genuine nature when we visit. Here are some pics from todays meal. The wings are crunchy and cooked perfectly. The burgers were excellent , as always. We never have a wait to be seated and the food comes out pretty quickly. So no worries ,stop in before game time and Steve will take care of you!

The filet mignon sandwich was really good. The meat was tender, the cheese. It was good, and the caramelized onions were really nice. The downside is that it’s $28 dollars. That’s why I can’t give it a higher rating. The taste was great though.

The meat was falling out. Of the sandwich, it isn’t chopped up like a regular cheese steak. I ta falling out of the sandwich like a regular piece of steak! But it’s chunky and n layers like it was slapped on the grilll! I would understand this for closing weekend but opening weekend it’s actually shocking! Every bite pulls the meet out I don’t understand it. I could talk more but I don’t know what’s going on!!!!

I was at the Mets/ Orioles game on 8/20/24. My son and I got the burger and fries... Omg, the patty was just a tiny bit bigger than a White Castle patty, we were really pissed. Then we were home watching the game on TV the next day on 8/21/24, Same teams, afternoon game where the announcers get food in the booth from different vendors, and they just happen to bring them burgers from Pat LeFrieda's... These burger patties were huge, the size difference was unreal, and they were topped with a nice big pile lobster. Talk about false advertising, I hope people read this and avoid this concession while at Citi Field, it's bad enough EVERYTHING at the ballpark is overpriced but for the price and size of the patty, this was truly a rip off.

I was at the ballpark, so should not have expected much. However, the smell drew me in, while the name of Pat Lafrieda is synonymous with beef, so why not? At $20 for a filet sandwich, it's not a ridiculous price. However, my beef was well done, though told it would be medium rare. Dry and chewy piece of rubber, with way too much sugar added to make the onions sweet. This was not enjoyable. Don't waste your money!

Great sandwich. Steak was tender and the onions go great with the meat. This was one of the best things to eat at CitiField

- steaks are thick - more than enough sandwich for two people - onions were a good touch - i could do without the cheese - i thought the bread was kind of hard - the bread and the meat do not complement each other - i thought it was too much bread, tbh - staff chatted it up with two females prior to telling me, he wasn't open and i was standing in the wrong line

I have been going to Citifield for years. Lifetime fan of all Pat LaFrieda products. The lines at Citifield for this sandwich has always been insanely long and because of that I never got to try it. Well my lucky day came when I was finally able to have it. The steak is so juicy and tender. The cheese is warm, salty and at the perfect amount of meltiness finished on crisp Italian bread. I swear I could eat 5 of these! So worth it and if you have patience definitely wait on line!!! I love all LaFrieda products

NYC-based company famous for distributing "the best beef in the country" Sandwich made from 100% Black Angus hand-cut beef and Au Jus on a baguette. Vermont Monterey Jack cheese & sautéed Vidalia onions. Warning: This sandwich may cause salivation and/or falling in love. Will not disappoint!

When this sandwich is on point, it is the best sandwich in the stadium. You can't go wrong with filet mignon medallions smothered in melted monterey jack cheese, and the crispy French bread with the au jus soaked into it and the caramelized onions really take this sandwich over the edge. Definitely large enough for two people to split - there's a ton of steak for the price. Unfortunately sometimes you will get a sandwich that tastes like it's been sitting out for a while and results in the meat getting over cooked, which can make it a bit dense. Try to get there early for a fresh one.

Worst and most expensive cheesesteak I've ever had. Not a good combo. Obviously with this super busy venue I shouldn't have expected much but I did. It was pre prepared, coldish, dry, tough. I wish I could run out of negatives to describe this cheesesteak but I never will. Gotta go.

Food: The line is super long for this mouth watering sandwich for all the right reasons, A delicious perfectly executed steak sandwich. Everything from the sweet onions, sharp Vermont cheese , delicious baguette soaked in their au jus is simply perfection. Only thing that could make the sandwich a full 5 stars is the cook. I would prefer the steak to be cooked medium to be softer and soak up more of the flavor but I'm still crazy over this sandwich. Brew: There's not much of a selection here since it's a ball park but they do have something very special to pick over your water down lite garbage beer, Goose Island IPA. It's $10.50 for a 16 oz can but its delicious, cold, and the best beer pick to enjoy your time there.

Got there as soon as the gates opened and the steaks were coming off the grill. Chibatta roll just needed to be loaded and toasted in the oven. Looked pretty good and for 20 bucks it should be... Well, unfortunately it wasn't. 2nd time I tried it and second time I had untender underseasoned meat with substantial fat and grizzle that I had to pull out if my mouth and throw away. My girlfriend also had her own same sandwich and had the same comments. This sandwich needs to be a slam dunk every time at that price point. Fyi 2 sandwiches, 2 beers almost 80 bucks... She had alot more carmelized onions on her sandwich than I did, which also shows a lack of consistency. Too bad, because we really wanted to enjoy a higher end sandwich rather then a burger or dog. Sorry, we're done with this sandwich all together.

They serve a good steak and cheese sandwich. It is a bit pricey for ballpark food but it's good so I guess it is alright. The wait was not long so it was fine.

Best ballpark sandwich I've ever had. It is pricey but is worth the money. The steak is tender and it has a great cheese to meat ratio. That being said the onions are what make this sandwich special. They have two locations. One in Centerfield and one in the upper deck behind home. The upper deck location has french fries with steak and cheese and onions. They were very good too.

Only tried the steak sandwich, not the sausage and peppers. Thick, tender and tasty slices of filet covered in onions and creamy melted slices of Monterey Jack cheese. The roll held the contents well without breaking or getting mushy but was nothing to write home about. By far the best thing I've had to eat at a sporting event and topped most steak sandwiches I've had at traditional restaurants. Yes, it's $17.50 so it's about 4 dollars more than you'll spend on a burger at Citi Field. I'd get this sandwich again for sure.

It was ok, my buddy offered me the rest cuz he thought it was weird. The wait was horrendous, not even that many ppl in line, just slow service, which since it was the WS game, we were freezing and didn't want to miss much of it. For the price would prob just stick to the burgers which happened to be very good

This sandwich features hand-cut 100% black angus filet mignon, caramelized onions and Monterey jack cheese on a toasted baguette. Pat's house-made au jus is soaked into the crusty bread. This sandwich used to be available only to F&F but, as of Aug 7 2012, it is available during baseball season from Apr-Sept to those attending any of the 81 Mets' home games. The Pat LaFrieda concession stand is situated in Citi Field right by Shake Shack. This is Pat LaFrieda's first and only retail location and their single offering proves that simple is better. The sandwich is approx 6" long and is generously filled. The toasted baguette was crusty on the outside and the tasty au jus softens the bread just enough to allow the meat, cheese and sweet onion filling to come together. The filet is approx 4-5 oz and is seasoned with salt and pepper right before it is put on the grill. The filet in my sandwich was cooked medium and was very lightly seared. I would have preferred medium rare with a better sear but the steak was still extremely moist and tender. I loved the sweet onions and the mild but creamy Monterey jack cheese was a good choice. The sandwich costs $15 sandwich and is the same price as the Lobel's steak sandwich at Yankee Stadium but it so much more worth it! Lobel's steak sandwich is good but the steak is sliced thin and tastes more like roast beef than steak. I also found the bread in the Lobel's steak sandwich lacking and you gotta have good bread if you want a good sandwich! The line was long but not as long as the line at Shake Shack! We only waited 15-20 min or so but we got to the ballpark early-- 1.5 hrs before first pitch. They had a lot of steaks cooking on the grill and it seemed like they had enough staff to keep the line moving quickly. Just another reason to love the Mets.. woohoo!

Very disappointing for a $17 sandwich especially with the rep of Pat LaFrieda. The meat was very tough - did not taste at all like filet mignon, more like cube steak, which is about the cheapest cut of meat you can get. Not a lot of onions or jus on it either, which was too bad cause it could have used some other flavors. I hope they improve it for next season.

So this stand at Citi Field sells one and only one food item: The Filet Mignon Steak Sandwich. A French baguette, loaded with filet mignon, tons of grilled vidalia onions, cheese, and au jus. It is quite good. The steak is tender, the onions have a surprisingly light taste considering how much of it there is, and the baguette is fresh and not too hard. The price is where my gripes mainly fall. $16 for a sandwich is a little ridiculous. It is filet mignon, and it is a ball park, so I get how that could be, but this is more overpriced than anything else I've seen here. I might get this sandwich again if the lines at Blue Smoke and Shake Shack are too long, but only if I'm super hungry, or, like, just won the lottery or something.

I have mix feelings about this place. Is it an amazing steak sandwich that's worth $16? the answer is yes however is not worth the very slow service. I waited an hour and half for this sandwich. The line wasn't even that long maybe 20 people ahead of me however they would stop taking orders about every 10 mins because the kitchen was backed up. I don't understand how it took them so long to make a sandwich when all they sell are steak sandwiches. Why cant they just make tons at a time? I was really looking forward to trying this sandwich that's why I waited so long on line, the sandwich was good but not so amazing that's worth over an hour wait.

One delicious steak sandwich at Citi Field. This is a must have at Citi Field. There is only two around the stadium. The first location is in the taste of the city. It's right next to shake shack near section 139. The second location is up in the promenade level near section 414. Best time to get one is before the game starts maybe about 1 hour before first pitch or after the 7th inning. The lines are long during the game, but no where near as long as shake shack. I waited about maybe 5 minutes for my sandwich. The steak sandwich is a hand cut 100 percent black angus seared filet mignon, topped with Monterey Jack cheese, and serves with sweet caramelized onions and a secret au jus on a custom made and toasted French banquette. I loved the sandwich. The steak was cooked just right for me. Medium cooked. The onions are so delicious and sweet. The cheese is just melting on the steak. The as jus is so tasty and it's great when it hits the bread. Makes it all so soft and tasty. Bring it all together and you have one delicious steak sandwich. Take one bite and then you want another bite. Do not share with another person. You want the sandwich all to yourself. The sandwich is $15. A bit pricy, but you are at a ballpark. Every where is pricy. A must try when you come to citi field.

A stand at Citifield that usually has the 2nd longest line in the food court area, only to be surpassed by the infamous Shake Shack. The steak and cheese sandwich was very good but apparently using the term "cheesesteak sandwich" aint how they roll up in here. A fair portion of filet mignon steak is placed on a baguette, which I found to be a little too crunchy for my liking, but too each their own. Added to the bread was a few sliced pieces if filet mignon that's topped with plenty of sweet onions and a slice or two of cheddar is added. I thought the flavors and amounts worked very well together, but the price and worker attitudes didn't make handing over $44.00 for 2 sandwiches and 2 16 oz. bottles of pepsi pleasurable. I understand that when you break it down, it's still ballpark food so I get the prices be a little inflated. But I think the counter workers motto is "service with a puss", whereas the dozens of places I've tried in Philly over the years has always been "service with a smile" as them folks like to laugh and also get you in on the fun. Pros...they are using a filet mignon instead of ribeye. Cons.. .the baguette is a little to crunchy and chewy......also the workers look as if they aren't having much fun with their sandwich artistry. Overall opinion........Philly still does a better sandwich, but Queens NY has a better ball team. So in summation.........enjoy your $16.00 high priced sandwich annnnnnnndddddd LET'S GO METS!

The steak was definitely not filet mignon. It was tough and chewy, not the best for a sandwich. The bread they use and onions are really good. That is what's left in the sandwich after you pull out all the meat in one bite.

Chances are as a New Yorker, unless you're some kind of weirdo[1] and don't eat meat, you've probably had Pat LaFrieda's products before (whether you knew it or not). On a recent trip to Citi Field for the subway series, I was giddy like a schoolgirl in anticipation of trying this sandwich. It's $15. It's filled with pretty thick, tender slabs of filet mignon, covered with caramelized onions au jus, then smothered with a good helping of Monterey Jack cheese. If I had to compare it to something, I would say it tastes like the love child of a juicy filet and French onion soup. Not a bad combo. As you might imagine, this is a popular item at the ballpark, so the lines can be epic. I stopped at the stall on the 400-level behind home plate and the whole process probably took 15 mins, give or take. The service definitely left a lot to be desired and was slooooowwwww. There were some grumpy people in line, but I'm pretty sure those were just Mets fans. Overall, I really enjoyed the sandwich, but at $15, can't say it's something I'd make a habit of. Still, I think this food stall is one of the highlights at Citi Field and is worth a visit. Otherwise, all I have to say is LET'S GO YANKEES! [1] I'm kidding (sort of)

I attended the concert last night with Lady Gaga in the pouring rain. I was hungry and the thought of a nice piece of steak frites sounded great. The order was cold but being hungry and wet I carried on eating - but I could not at $11.00 so I returned and explained to the cashier and she gave me another which was sitting there conveniently - and I was so mad once again a cold item which should have been hot - waffle fries cheese and steak why in the hell would it be cold if you just ordered it - very dissatisfied - will not be suggesting anyone go to this stand whilst attending a football or concert event.

Use to be my favorite and I would get this every time I'm at a game. However, they precook the meat to move the line and the difference is astounding. My husband and a coworker still think it's just as good as before. Hell no, no where close. Meat is dry and tough, bread is too hard after going through the conveyor belt. I'm gonna have to move on and find something else....

I would give the place a 4.5 but I rounded up. We got the steak sandwich fresh out of the oven. The meat was very tender and juicy and the flavor was great. It would have been a 5 if they had gravy to dip it in and a side of sautéed mushrooms. But it was very good. I would have eaten more if I wasn't going to dinner. We also got the steak with fries, I loved it. The steak was tender and the cheese melted perfectly. Love it

Overheard a dad telling another dad at the Dunk Tank how good the sandwich was so I asked, "Where do I get one?" Pointing in the direction we walked there after failing to dunk the baseball player. It was unique. Tasty. Wish it was warmer, had more onions ( I guess they were running out by the end of the day.) It was almost as good at the Fried Oreos I ate hot on the way to my seats which I received free because my son gave blood. GLAD I TRIED IT.

I have gotten the steak fries 3 or 4 times and the most recent time I noticed they swapped out filet mignon for cheaper cuts of generic beef steak, reduced the portion size about about 40%, and there were literally 0 pieces of onion.

Extremely disappointed in this sandwich. The cheese was good, the onions were good, but the meat was borderline awful. Tasteless, and on the tough side. Reminded me of "mystery meat" eaten at school and military chow halls. Had no choice in those instances. but I have choices now. I'm sticking with Shake Shack!

Best sandwich ever! $17 each but well worth it. Right next to shake shack and usually has a short/ reasonable line. They also serve tall boys here so a pretty great one stop shop.

$16 Too pricey in my opinion. And for $16, it should not have taken 15 minutes to get my sandwich, making us miss the first pitch. With only 3 people on line in front of us, it shouldn't take more than 3 minutes to sizzle up a steak. It was definitely not medium, so overcooked for my tastes. I personally enjoy steak sandwiches cut a little thinner- too thick in parts for my tastes. I liked the cheddar and vidalia onions. Loved the au jus.

Rated for the delicious sandwich - not the slow service I've gotten the sandwich several times - all from the promenade level station. Never a line - always a 20 minute inexplicable wait Beef is tender, juicy and flavorful with the vidalia onions, Vermont sharp cheddar and crusty bread making it worth the $16. Don't love the fries but i really liked the craft beer served at this station that has a lemon flavor.

On 9/29/13, I attended the METS last game of the season and Mike Piazza Induction ceremony into the hall of fame. I visited Pat Lafriedas for a steak sandwich with Garlic fries. The sandwich cost an expensive $15 and the garlic fries cost $7.50 with a total of $22.50, which was a splurge. The cashier informed me that they ran out of onions to put into the sandwich, however they also did not include any gravy into the sandwich. The fries were extremely salty and dry, almost like it was soaked into vinegar. The sandwich was a juicy medium well. Delicious, but I still did not get to have a taste for the whole entire sandwich because of the missing onions. I called Guest relations next day to complain about this issue, left a message, but still waiting for them to contact me. They should have been well stocked with all the items to make a sandwich There is no excuses.. Im very disappointed.

This place was AMAZING in 2015, but the keyword is WAS. They started using Filet Mignon Medallions and as of the 2016 season, they have moved to "Sirloin". The only saving factor is the fact that the sweet onions are delicious (I don't really like onions). Terribly disappointed and will be avoiding unless they switch back. On the positive sign, the fact that the sandwiches are bad means the line will no longer take a full inning.

After waiting forever on line, we finally got to order. The slowest operation ever. Our sandwich with no onions, wound up being no cheese. I'll stick with the hot dogs.

Hands down the best stadium food I've had. Full disclosure, we were in line after being told this is a must eat...it didn't look that appealing. The steak didn't look that good. But we were wrong. Me and my gf both got a sandwich and we inhaled it. The bread was perfectly crispy...the grilled sweet onions is the key in the sandwich. Let's put it this way...we would go back for a mets game just for the sandwich.

This was an awesome sandwich. At $16, it was a bit pricey, but the quality was there and it was the best dinner option at the ballpark. It paired nicely with a Goose Island IPA. The roll was like fresh bake bread. It was not a "Wonderbread" style. It was really nice with onions and cheese. I'll be having this sandwich again.

Located in Citifield baseball stadium, these $15 steak sandwiches may seem expensive, but I'd go back every time. They are served on a kind of ciabatta roll with sweet onions and a nice beef au jus gravy that didn't make the roll too soggy. Too bad they don't sell fries here.

This is a JULY 22, 2017 review. This is NOT a Filet Mignon sandwich. Maybe it once was, but you can watch what they are grilling, and it is no way Filet Mignon. They need to change the name. On the positive side, I've read a lot of negative reviews about long lines and bad service, but I had no line and very pleasant service. As another recent reviewer remarked, maybe the lines have gone down because the sandwich just isn't good anymore. Meat was tough, impossible to bite through. Expect the whole slice to end up in your mouth. My son chose to get a regular philly cheese steak at another stand. A much better choice.

Delicious sandwich, especially considering you're at a Mets game. Be warned, it's now $16 (May 2014). Now that there are Shake Shacks all over, no need to go there again at the stadium. Get in the (shorter) line for this while your buddies stand in the endless Shake Shack line for 3 innings. Pros: Delicious Cons: Slow service, no sides at the outfield stand. Flour from the baguette may get on your clothes.

Came here on Wednesday 4/27/16, I usually go to just a couple of games a year, and I'm a big foodie and steak lover so I was super excited for this place. Was going to get to steak fries and then come back later for the steak sandwich (yeah, I'm a fatty). The stand was right behind our seats so I ran there between innings. First online and first to order, I'd say 6-7 people ordered after me. They gave me my beer right away which I finished because I was waiting so long. Half inning passed and that's when I started thinking "wtf". They apologized and said they had to grill more steak. Lol okay then.....finally the second half of the inning was over and I said this is crazy and asked for a refund. They apologized and said our food is coming right out. Almost another half inning later they came out with all of our food at once. It LOOKED cold but whatever, we just wanted to get back to the game! We took our food and ran back to our seats. Sure enough, it was ICE COLD. Cold fries, cold cheese sauce, cold onions, and 3 or 4 little bite sized pieces of cold steak. IF it was filet mignon it was the nastiest tasting filet mignon I've ever had. I couldn't have been more disappointed. Completely shocked at this experience. Whoever is in charge of this place should be completely embarrassed. I didn't go back for the steak sandwich not only because of how disgusting my fries were, but looking at the steak sandwiches they handed out, I would have been pissed if I paid $16 for that even if it was hot. Very small, did NOT look like the images people have posted on Yelp. 2-3 tiny tiny pieces of steak. Shame on them for serving this crap and having the balls to charge what they do.

We were visiting from SF and our tour guide told us to eat here. We got to the stadium early and had to wait awhile for them to set up but it was worth the wait. My hubby and I split a sandwich because I thought it would be too big. After all that, I wish I had my own because it was that good. Kinda pricey but it's definitely worth it. You won't be disappointed.

With Matt Harvey out, the Pat Lafreidas filet mignon sandwich is quite possibly the most valuable thing that the Mets franchise owns, although my understanding is they have a consignment deal and Pat Lafriedas is an independent contractor. But it's a very good sandwich - maybe I'm not a real American but I don't like eating hot dogs. They're just salt and fat with almost no protein, and don't taste that great. This is actually something tasty to get at a baseball stadium that you'd prefer to get outside of Shea. $15 for a high quality steak sandwich isn't a rip off at all compared to a $6 hot dog. Stop complaining. They didn't have onions? Shutup - that's a you problem, don't publish it.

The Filet Mignon Steak Sandwich is amazing. The steak is tender, the cheese is well melted and the au ju makes everything moist. The service at the stand on the field level was the best part of my experience. The individuals making the sandwiches are so friendly and remembered me as a customer. MUST TRY STAND!!!!!
