Patacon Pisao Truck 🇻🇪

I’ve tried other Patacon Pisa locations in the city, but this truck specifically has consistently delivered the best cachapas around. And they’ve done this for years. I never order anything without adding some sides of tequeños. If you like mozzarella sticks, you’ll love this soft cheese filled stick. A contender for a last meal if it ever comes to it

First time trying patacones. Staff was very helpful and the food was very good! We got the Pulled Pork patacones and the Beef Arepa. The homemade hot sauce pairs perfectly well with both! The Tamarindo and Chinola drinks were also perfect for the hot weather. Will definitely be coming back!

Food is delicious, we drive almost 40 min each way just to go get our food there. We always call being 20 min away and when we arrive our food is ready. Prices are really affordable and definitely worth it for the quality and quantity of the product.

I enjoyed the whole experience! The dishes I ordered were delicious. This place pairs beauty with sincere welcomes. I plan to make repeated visits to this place. We considered it a welcome break from routine.

Great spot in the neighborhood. They even have vegetarian options. We enjoyed the food (patacon was a little dry), the staff were polite and we received our food within 10min. Cash only!

After a night at the bar I stopped by to grab something to eat here. I regret getting the blt patacon and should’ve just stuck with the shredded beef I usually get. Just be mindful that they are cash only.

I have been here multiple times over the years, but it's been over a year since I last visited. When I get home, this is what I find. The food has always been good at this restaurant, and even with this burned patacón, everything else we ordered was delicious. Although this was my first poor experience here, the customer service is friendly, and the food is excellent. Before you leave, make sure you check your order.

Must have passed this spot 100 times before a friend told me about it. Tucked down a random street on the east side of Inwood this little food truck dishes out a mean patacon with all the trimmings.

The empanadas can be overwhelming. It's stuffed with potatoes chicken and cheese. I'd prefer more chicken than potatoes. Maybe corn ground beef and potatoes as a suggestion. Service is okay. Cash only if your wondering. Ambiance - food truck. Grab your food and go vibes.

Everything was okay til I found a huge piece of string that looked like floss in my mouth from a bite. Person making the sandwich should've caught whatever that string was. Food is nothing to brag about unless you find random strings. Two of these, a water and a small drink $30+.

The sandwich was terrible!! It looked NOTING like everyone's pictures! It was super dry and lacked flavor. I hopped on the train to try the Patacon out. When I got home and looked at it I was disappointed so I decided not to lose hope and taste it. DRY!!! I called and owner or worker hung up on me twice. Never again. The hype for me was not real. Don't waste your money!! Check my pic if you don't believe me.

Taste pretty good even tho I ordered the wrong thing. I wanted the patacon and I didn't pay attention that el gringo only comes in tacucho (burrito). Next time I'll pay attention.

I heard about this place from a few people. I decided to make an adventure out of it and take a trip to the heights. Two busses later, I found myself on the corner of 202nd and 10th....looking for the Patacon Pisao Truck. I got a little worried at first because I was expecting an actual truck parked outside in the middle of the street. No not at all. It was hidden but there was signage and a door. Their set up was so cute because it looked like a store front and it was still a food truck. I get to the actual spot and snapped a few pics. Thankfully I went early enough and there was no line. Maybe about 2 or 3 people placing their orders and that is about it. I placed my order and went with the grilled chicken patacon and a chicken empanada. I'll start with the chicken pastelito(fried round crispy patties). I was blown away by how huge it was because I am Puerto Rican and ours are half the size (then again, these are Venezuelan). Not only was it huge but it was so heavy. It was filled with chicken and mashed potatoes....I've made something similar but it paled in comparison to this. It was full of flavor, not greasy, and jam packed. I munched on it while I waited for my order (I was planning on taking it home to eat). The sauce they served on the side complimented the pastelito perfectly because it was similar to the ketchup mayo and garlic aoli I make at home but it had some spiciness to it which I LOVED. On to the actual patacon. Years ago, an old friend of mine mentioned patacon to me and I swore she was absolutely crazy especially once she explained what it was...tostones...but giant monster sandwich sized tostones with meat, cheese, lettuce and tomatoes in between...a sandwich. I digress. They had several different types to choose from but I kept it simple since it was my first time and went with their original grilled chicken patacon. It consisted of the grilled chicken, queso frito (fried white cheese), green leaf lettuce, tomatoes, ketchup, and wasakaka sauce. I didnt sit down to eat it until I got home and I am so glad I did. This was delicious. I never thought something with simple ingredients could come together deliciously. It didnt get soggy. The meat was tender and the fried cheese was the greatest touch. I ordered 2 patacones, 1 pastelito, and a bottle of water. It came out to $19 which I think is totally reasonable. This place gets 6 out of 5 bites from me. I will definitely be returning soon to try other items on their menu.

Decided to come to this truck after looking up good patacon places in the area- and seeing the reviews. My husband and I came on a Saturday, a few minutes after they open (around noon). I ordered a mixed patacon- pernil and chorizo- and my husband got the steak one. We were told it would be a 10 minute wait. When we got them, they were nice and hot, freshly made and delicious. The size of the patacon is great for the price ($7.50-$10 each). It will definitely fill you up. The plantain part was not greasy, but I wish it had a little more flavor to it (just my personal preference). Inside the patacon, along with your protein, you get lettuce, tomato, mayo and queso frito (delicious). I enjoyed my patacon but thought the steak was more flavorful. I couldn't really taste the chorizo, maybe it got lost with all the other flavors. Overall, I was happy with my patacon, as was my husband with his. Service is friendly and they have a place to stand and eat. There is also a hot sauce and mayo/ketchup sauce they put out that you can add. We definitely want to come back to try the chicken patacon and other menu options!

Incredible the best patacons and pastelitos I've ever tasted ! I drove two hours in the evening just to try them. Totally worth it !

Came to the Patacon Pisao truck after being disappointed at their restaurant location and so happy I did! The food here was much better than in their other location. I tried the Patacon & Arepa.. both which have the tendency to be dry but they executed them perfectly! saucy and delicious!! Also ordered one of their huge pastelito and a tequeño .. the patelito was delicious but I would not recommend their tequeños which were extremely dry and tasted stale ... deff would come back! 9/10

I have never had Venezuelan Food and when I had a cachapa, I have never stopped thinking about it. The serving is so big and so tasty! It is an experience!! Get ready for it!!!!

I like to put my hands on people who are in prison. That's why they call me "Patacon." This may be illegal, but honestly for the most part they don't complain. When they do, I just tell the guards that I was threatened in an unprovoked incident and they take care of the rest. I don't find this morally objectionable at all, and no, I don't care if my actions Pisao off. In fact I hope that they Pisao off. Just call me Patacon. What to get: Patacon to eat, Parcha to drink. What else: Try Yoyos if they have them, or Cachapas maybe, or an Arepa. The portions are so enormous here that I call it the leaning tower of Pisao. Patacon Pisao is a hidden gem. It could not be any further North on Manhattan Island without being in the Harlem River... or in the Bronx. It is literally right at the top of Manhattan... in Inwood, famous for having the "last street in Manhattan" in its ranks. The beauty of Patacon is the hours it keeps. It opens up around 6 in the evening, and stays open until nearly six in the morning... every single night of the week. So the late night workers and the party animals returning to Spanish Harlem, Harlem and The Bronx can stop off and have some ridiculously over-the-top and dirt-cheap and uber-filling Venezuelan Street Food before turning in for the night... or going to work! Ordering here isn't exactly a Pisao cake. The guys here are pretty friendly although they don't speak much English. It's freezing in here in winter and very hot in summer, because it's really an outdoor eatery, with no chairs whatsoever. It's a truck that is parked built-in to a wall and permanently located in this spot, on a shady, litter-strewn back street in the Latin part of town. It's not the most comforting place to be at night, especially if you're alone, but with all of the hombres looking out for you while they feast on Patacons, you don't need to be worried. My warning is that if you don't like to mix sweet with savoury, and if you don't like your food items slathered in sauce and messy, you may have problems here. Always ask for no sauce, no mayo, no ketchup, if you're not into food that is swimming in those things, because they will absolutely drown it if you don't specify otherwise. By the way, if you're a bird with a large beak, rather than a human, skip this place and try Pelican Pisao instead. The meats aren't the most imaginative aspects of this food... chicken and beef mostly, and some ham, and all of it is shredded, ground, or pre-processed and standardized. It's what they put these concoctions on that really makes Patacon (and Venezuelan street food) remarkable. I can't really describe what cachapas, patacons and yoyos are, except to say that all of them are some form of plantain/corn bread that is a bit like eating sandwiches using bananas or plantains or potatoes (depending on which one you get) as bread. Patacons are for those that prefer a savoury taste. Cachapas are sweeter. Yoyos are the sweetest, squidgiest of all. Arepas are pretty savoury, cornmeal pockets stuffed with goodies. If you're not hungry for food, but for discussing the latest Marvel movie, then go to Comic-con Pisao instead. Definitely a whole world full of food to explore and discover, and all of the Venezuelan delights here are well worth a try. My favourites are the Patacons and Arepas because I prefer savoury to sweet, but I recommend you give a Cachapa a try if you like combining sweet with salty. Also, I think you should get something with cheese and ham (jamon y queso), as - while it is very greasy - that combination for me is even tastier than the ground beef and shredded chicken options, which are, admittedly, very juicy and delicious in and of themselves. I've had mixed reactions from the people I've brought here. Some loved it, some hated it. Once the food cools down, it gets soggy and then is just not very good anymore, so make sure you eat it hot... and bear in mind the portions are absolutely enormous. And if you find yourself molesting any inmates anytime soon, then let me know. I'm perfectly willing to share the nickname Patacon. I don't have a copyright on it, or anything. I have to go to a Yelp event now. Pisaot.

As I walked away from the El Dugout truck in Inwood one evening, my mind immediately starting racing to apartment prices in the area. I was jealous of everyone that had easy access to this beautiful food cart, probably my new favorite in the city. The subway ride back down south probably convinced me not to seriously look for a new home, but the hunger for more patacones was fresh by the time I finally did arrive. The specialty of the truck and what most people are ordering, is the patacón ($4.50-5.50) a sandwich of marinated shredded beef, pork, chicken, or carne asada, put between two large fried plantain slices which act as the typical bread. The most expensive, the "full" runs only $5.50, and combines three shredded meats which have been so perfectly marinated, lettuce, tomato, and a white (or was it pink) sauce that gives a hint of spicyness. The red marinade juices and this sauce start mixing while you eat, creating such a mess of ecstasy that is dribbling down the sidewalk at your feet. The truck is always busy, from the time it opens in the early evening until closing as the sun comes up, and getting your order could take 10 minutes or so. No matter, order a tequeño ($1), a simple cheese stick wrapped in dough and deep-fried. It is served with a tiny cup of pink mayo, but can be eaten with or without it depending on your mood. Loud cars thump by with raggaeton or hip-hop, while club-goers from across the street grab a bite before or after their dancing and drinking. I can imagine quite a rowdy/drunk scene here late in the night, but the early evening was all joy and smiles from those seeking their dinner. Personally, I'm now obsessed with the Patacón Pisao, the nickname of the truck which translates to flattened plantain. I expect to be spending many late nights returning to Brooklyn on the long A train ride south.

3.5 stars... This food truck is a little different than most food trucks in that it's got a permanent location and it's open 20 hours a day. They're serving the same fillings (chicken, beef, pork, ham & cheese, and cheese) inside five different options: patacon (flattened green plantains), cachapa (basically like thin corn bread), arepa (white corn flour), tacuchos (grilled wrap), and pepitos (regular sandwich roll). I saw some reviewers talking about empanadas but that wasn't listed anywhere on the menu or on the truck itself. You also have the option of getting two or three meats inside of whatever for a little extra. In addition to the meat the filling comes standard with lettuce, tomato slices, special sauce (seemed like just mayo), and ketchup. I got a chicken cachapa. As with all the other options, the meat is shredded. For $7 it was a good amount of food that left me stuffed. The chicken was pink as it was mixed with ketchup and mayo. The combo really masked the flavor of the meat but was still tasty. The real stand out for me was the cachapa (sweet corn) part. It was like the best corn bread I had ever had. It was too soft and large to handle (that's what he/she said) so I had to use a fork. Luckily I went during a slow time so I could eat at the small counter on the truck otherwise there's no benches or anything nearby (there is a park a couple blocks away though). After asking a Venezuelan friend of mine, I found out that ketchup is actually quite popular in that country so what I originally thought was an Americanization of a traditional dish is actually pretty valid. I'm not really into mayo and rarely put ketchup on anything so the options here are extremely limited, especially if I don't want to make special requests to the guy who English is not his first language. Still, I'll be thinking about that cachapa for a while.

This deserves 5 starts but since its an ice cream truck serving food gets 4. My friends, this is something worth traveling up to the heights for. this should be on a bobby flays throw-down show, the patacon Pisao truck as everyone knows it, has the best most flavorful Platano sandwiches ever made. I know, some people dont know or are reluctant to try it since is green plantains (some of my friends had that problem) but once they tried it, they go, when are we coming back to this place, they even want the recipe. This is the place after clubbing to grab that bite to eat, to fill the munchies. they guy, venezuela as we call him (please dont call him chavez, he hates him) writes everything down and does not miss a beat. Ohh he barely speaks english but all you have to do is ask for a patacon pisao full or a cachapa. Cachapas are sweet corn toasted things filled with the same ingredients that a patacon has. its delicious... check my picture... Anyways, if you are on a budget and want cheap after hours meal, do you like to try something new. head to this place...its worth the trip. PS: there are lots of lounges around the area, so if you want to make it a night you will not be disappointed.

This truck caters to the Hispanic club going crowd across the street, but I highly recommend getting to this truck to get once of their excellent patacons. Their best sandwich is the cachapas which is meat and sauce sandwiched between two slides of sweet corn meal. It's amazing!

It's street food. However, it is extremely tasty. I feel extremely guilty eating such greatness. I've been coming here since way back when they were just a hot dog looking cart. Today they have evolved, a bit, into two trucks. The tamarind juice is also exceptional, above all the others. The Friday and Saturday night crowds are not easy to navigate around and I would stay away. I've never tried the delivery service, but a cold Patacon can be nauseating.

BEST SANDWICH I'VE EVER HAD!! My boyfriend and I stumbled across this place on Google when we were in the neighborhood. We both got chachapa sandwiches. I got the vegetarian and added pulled chicken... an hour later and we can't stop talking about how amazing that sandwich was. I wish I was more local so I could come back regularly.

The chicken Tacucho tho...sigh A Venezuelan wrap with shredded chicken, seasoned to perfection with lettuce, tomatoes, fried queso, drizzled in some finger-licking sauces.... Thank God they are open 24/7....you never know when you'll need your fix. The chicken empanada is a hit too. Definitely diggin Patacon Pisao...

My favorite food truck to hit up in Inwood. This is the original Patacon truck, all others are imitators. Trust me, the taste is different. And the best thing is that it's open 24 hours! So if you're ever partying or hanging out in the area make sure you stop by and grab a Patacon cause it's bangingggg! I mean c'mon, two huge tostones filled with shredded meat, lettuce, tomato, fried cheese and a bomb sauce in the middle. You're welcome!

I first came to this truck about 6-7 years ago during my parties days at Umbrella across the street (it is not called something else). Food: The patacon are always yummy. During my most recent visit I had the chicken cachapa and one tequeño. Both yummy, specially the cachapa; very nice portion packed with flavor. Ambience: Mostly people that are going or coming from the clubs in the area. I can't say you should go out of your way to try this place but if you are in the area, specially after a night of drinking, I so recommend it!

Food truck with friendly Venezuelan staff serving sandwiches/wraps. All things aside, the Patacon is definetly the star here & price is feasible (Cash Only). First time trying it (last month) left me wanting more on the menu. Last night, the Steak Tacucho was what caught my attention & it was delicioso. Go anytime as it's open 24 hours but in day you can enjoy by Riverviews down the street where you can sit, enjoy your Patacon or Tacucho with views of Bx. & Manhattan.

I have been coming here for years, probably around 4 years. I even got my parents and siblings hooked on this place lol. Ok so what is a patacon exactly?!? It's a sandwich but instead of bread the sandwich base is plataños or fried green plaintains. Sounds good already doesn't it? Then you can pick a meat, either shredded chicken, beef or pork (pernil). And obviously as with most sandwiches you get lettuce, and not that iceberg crap, and tomatoes. You can add your choice is sauces which include salsa Verde, salsa rosa, and salsa piccante. Salsa Verde is a cilantro herbs and mayo sauce that's delicious. My personal favorite is the salsa Rosa and I have no clue what it's made of lol. The salsa piccante is a hot sauce and I don't do well with that so I have not tried it. This sandwich is more savory than the next one I'm going to describe. I tend to get a cachapa most of the time. A cachapa is similar to a patacon but instead of plaintains, the base is made of corn meal. The cachapa is usually served on a to go plate with the shredded meat, veggies and sauce in between 2 corn meal patties. I really don't know how to describe that lol. I love the sweet corn meal and savory flavor of the meat and sauce combined. Plus I never finish it, leftovers yes! While I'm waiting for my order I usually get 2 palitos. Palito is a bread stick stuffed with cheese, similar to mozzarella cheese. Cheese and bread how can you go wrong? Simple, you can't. Oh and don't forget to get some passion fruit (chinola) juice to wash it down.

The best Patacon everrrrr!!!! I've tried other places but nothing is compare to this food truck!! Must try!

Been coming here since i was a little kid, This is a must come to spot if you come to Dyckman. Its unbelievable how a small food truck can have customers coming from NJ and other far places just to try their special made patacon. I love palitos de queso those are my favorite i can eat them all day. My only thing is since they have become so popular at what they do, They do seem to be getting a bit over priced. Some people think its not a big deal it kinda is. Hope they can bring their prices to how they had it. Would love coming to this place one day and see the fair prices they ounce had. Their is No Parking so you have to park in the streets, Good thing is cops don' botherif they see you have your car double parked.

I orders Patacon beef and cheese both absolutely delicious and the food surprised my taste buds

This one time, at the Patacon truck. I placed a complicated order in a complicated way, complete with slurring, swaying and double vision. And the dude got the order right. B/c he always gets the order right. He even writes it down! How wonderful is it that a man who owns a truck that opens at 7pm and remains open until well after 5am and services a bunch of crazy drunks can do it w/o a mistake?? I love him. Sometimes when I'm ordering I look at his blue Yankee hat and wish that I could tell him how wonderful he is. How his list brightens my day. But then I realize how weird it is that I love lists and efficiency and he may not get that. To him, I'm just the weird girl who goes out a lot and has no qualms about dancing in the street with strangers while I wait for my order.

I was red-eyed and starving, My friends boyfriend decided to take a detour from the highway and give us a taste of the best.... I got out of the car, it was about 12:30am, the neighborhood scared me, I didn't care too much though, I just wanted to stuff my face!! I saw the line was very long so I thought, "wow this must be good"... It was finally my turn, I ordered two empanadas and two cheese sticks and a soda (over-ordering much?) it came out of $7!!!! IS THIS HEAVEN?? We get in the car and start to unwrap our steamy, fried goodness.... The empanada: WOWOWOWOW.... A GIANT circle shape, you bite in and get a mouth full of mashed potato, chicken and beef... I poured a nice dollop of the sauce they put in my bag ( a mayonnaise based aioli type)... It was delicious! The cheese stick: very good, my only criticism would be that there is not enough cheese inside! Other than that brilliant... I give Patacon Pisao 5 stars, because they rocked my world and I could eat here everyday.

This not-so-secret-to-the-locals truck hidden in the Dyckman Area always has a line. But fret not: 1- it moves quickly, 2-the end product is worth the wait. Cheap too. Go NOW, please. Sometimes I wake up in a cold sweat at night thinking this place might not be there for friends to try. Oh man- what better way to end an evening of drinking and/or dancing and/or anything with a patacon!!! These plaintain-based sandwiches, filled with your choices of succulently-seasoned meat, cooked to absolute butter-tenderness, WILL cure what ails you and quiet the hungry monster inside you faster than you can say "oye loco, esa baina 'ta buena". The truck serves other deliciousness' as well like cheese sticks and whatnot, but why would you treck all the way up there to walk away patacon-less?

If you ever ate street food and then proceeded to let your mind wonder about the heights of street food potential, this place is for you. Introducing the heights of street food potential. Right outside a rowdy club on 202nd st between 9th and 10th avenues is a treasure in the street meat world. It's hard exactly to tell you what to get because I had two things that were out of this world amazing which leads me to believe that everything in the menu is amazing. The first thing I had was the name-sake patacon sandwich. Any of the food items they have can be purchased with chicken, beef, pork, cheese, or a combination. I asked for the patacon to come with pernil, which is pork. The sandwich was basically juicy-ass pork combined with pink sauce, lettuce, tomato, and spice all sandwiched into two giant fried plantains. It blew us away. it was so good that I had to try something else on the menu. I looked to the left and saw cachapas. I tried this one with meat. The cachapa was similar to the patacon but instead of coming with two fried plantain breads, it comes in a huge pocket of thick and soft corn-meal fried. This sandwich was even better than the patacon! And they were both $4! Outstanding. If you want to imagine a cachapa, imagine the softest, tastiest, and hottest arepa you can possibly imagine transformed into a wet, juicy sandwich the likes of which you couldn't have possibly contrived even with the help of hallucinogenics.

Listen I have been coming here for years, I drive from CT just to eat here. It's the best thing I have tasted, if you have never had a chicken patacon you haven't lived. Do your self a favor, go and try it, or if you like sweet and savory get the yoyo (made with a sweet plantain base).

Before all the Cachapas y Mas started sprouting up around the Heights, you had this little food truck, the professed love of every clubber uptown. The place is usually only open late night (at least to my knowledge) and that's the only time I've ever eaten here, but it's such a treat after a night of partying and drinking. The food is wonderfully bready and greasy and will put you well on your way to sobriety and thus ensure that the morning will be (hopefully) hangover-free. There are plenty of good choices here, but the patacon full (stuffed with meat, cheese, etc.) is your best bet if you're starving. If you're just there because you have the alcohol munchies and you're not really that hungry, I'd probably suggest getting about 3 to 4 palitos de queso, which are the best post-clubbing snack to ever exist. Dip these bad boys in the pink sauce (pause) and let you're mind embark on a celestial journey. Just make sure you're not driving at the time. I also enjoy the pastelitos, which are not anything like the standard fried patty with a dab of meat in there. These have mashed potatoes in there and are twice the size, and for $2 are actually a great deal. Two of these will fill you for half a day honestly (unless you're a fatttie like me), but I must warn, do order a water or some other beverage as they will leave you parched. Oh, and make sure not to overdo it when ordering, as the cheap prices mixed with a drunken mind can lead to a surplus of greasy food that doesn't sustain so well. Trust me.

INSANE. I love this truck. I love these things, I always get the Patacon FULL cause I LOVE all that meat. They have these sauces that for the life of me I can't figure out what it is but I just know it taste good and I have to add some more everytime I take a bite and feel there isn't enough on there. They actually have TWO sauces; a pale green and a pale peachy one. GREAT. So they also have these things they call Palitos...which taste like empanadas but its a stick the dough is like rolled around the cheese, that palito also taste GREAT with the sauces they have. YUM-O. Since I believe the truck is open late nights the restaurant is open during the day which is great but this will make people gain WEIGHT. I Rave about these Patacons to all my friends and I have gotten alot of them HOOKED on these things. =]

It's 1am and you're wondering what you are doing in the heights? You're here for the pernil patacon, homie. If they run out, get the cachapa. If they run out of that? Go cry in a corner because now you're drunk and have nothing to eat.

So yesterday evening I made my way to Patacon Pisao on 202nd after yearning for arepas and wanting to try something new. The original spot in Queens I was scoping out was closed for the day, so Yelp led me here. Yes, Sheldon will travel for food! So I got off the long 1-train ride to 207th St and walked south to 202nd St. When I finally made it to the street I'd become a little afraid after not seeing a physical truck or cart down the desolate looking street. I said a prayer and made the left onto the street. Yes, it was an actual truck and they were open. It was behind a fence, barley visible from the main street. After looking at all the choices I decided to spring for a Patacone, Cachapa, and Arepa. They have many flavors available and so I didn't know which one to try. No problem, I just asked the guy to choose a different flavor for each. I ended up with (all gluten free btw)... Pollo Patacone (Chicken) - The patacone an arepa made of sliced stiff/crispy plantain like bread shell. It isn't processed though. You can physically see the sliced plantains. Jamon y Queso Cachapa (Ham & Cheese) - This was my absolute favorite and the reason I will definitely be making my way back up to 202nd St both in the near future, and often. The breading is a corn cake that taste like corn bread, is flat, and has little random kernels of corn. It is ri-D@m#-diculous! I am literally slowly shaking my head back and forth right now as I type. Carne Mechada Arepa - This was my least favorite, but only because I didn't care for their arepa compared to some of the other arepas I've had around NYC. I didn't quite care for the actual texture of the arepa bread, but it was still good. One last note...by the time I left many people had come around to buy food and the cheese sticks $1.25 seem to be extremely popular.

You can't go wrong going to the Patacon Pisao Truck if you're in the mood for a great Venezuelan sandwich. I usually get a patacon or a pepito and at least 5 cheese sticks. Their juices are great too !

I've never had Venezuelan food before eating at this food truck, and I'm seriously a fan now. It was just that good. I'm not sure how to describe the taste, but the crispyness of the shell combined with the taste of the meat and special sauce was like a foodgasm going off in my mouth. The only annoying thing was trying to communicate my order to the cashier as he seemed only able to speak Spanish and I had to have someone else who was also ordering translate my order for me.

After the first time that I tried Patacon Pisao I probably revisited that same week 2 more times, I was hooked! The Chicken Patacon is delicious. Although, I found the tostones(green plantain) patties inconsistent.. Sometimes it was too overcooked which made it way too hard beyond crispy for my taste. The Cachapa was excellent. It's constructed very much like a sandwich (2 sweet corn patties and filling in the middle) but you really don't eat it like a sandwich.. A fork is required. I found the consistency of the Cachapa patties very similar to a traditional arepa. Which leads me to the Arepa.. My personal favorite. Just as good as the Patacon but I prefer it because it's a lot lighter than the plantains. The Arepa is more of a cracker which makes it crispy and to die for! I always go for the chicken filling but there's more offerings such as cheese, pernil(pork), and ham to name a few. It's always great to see a taste of South America thrive in Washington Heights. I put Patacon Pisao up there with the other great NYC food trucks.

This place is definitely a hidden gem. The Tequeno with special sauce is Delish.. and the patacon is to die for (enough for 2). I had a shredded beef patacon (no tomato)... warm, crutchy NOT SOGGY AT ALL... this place is Highly Recommended

I just had my first cachapa here. While I was eating it, I forgot that I am a misanthropic, myopic old crosspatch. I even forgot about the rash. I was just one of many humble human beings partaking of culinary grace. I have asked my loved ones to inscribe three words from Patacon Pisao's menu -- "Sweet Corn Cake"-- on my tombstone when I leave this world. These words will signify that I, too, once tasted of life's pleasures. They will remind anyone who reads them that sometimes, even in this crazy bitter world, promises are fulfilled.

Awesome authentic Venezuelan food. Patacones are huge and at good price. We had patacones, tequeños, empanadas, colitas. The star is the patacón with shredded meat.

Yep, it's the best thing ever. Kinda hard to find (202nd street cuts off) so walk down 10th Avenue to find it. Order the Jamon y Queso Cachapa and then thank me for the rest of your life for telling you to do that. Also, call ahead for pick-up. It can be like a 15 minute wait.

I'm very glad I went back! I visited again early Sunday morning before Snowmageddon 2015 and got a patacon, a chachapa and two tequeños. Everything was amazing! The plaintain on the patacon was fresh tasting and amazingly non-greasy. Patacon Pisao should really get into the fried platano/tostones business as their plantano is exemplary. The chicken was juicy without the mayonnaise but heightened by bits of fried cheese, juicy tomato and crispy lettuce. Similarly, the chachapa, which is like a sweet corn pita bread with your choice of meat, in my case, chicken, was amazeballs. The creaminess/sweetness of the chachapa, strewn with bits of sweet corn, really contrasts nicely with the saltier chicken. The tequeños were delicious as they were hot and fresh; the dough was chewy and soft, with a hint of salt to play of the blander tasting mozzarella. I'll be back Patacon Pisao. You're tasty and a great value. After this gastrobomb--I had patacon and tequeños for breakfast and the chachapa for a late lunch--I only needed to eat two apples for dinner to be sated.

I love this place. Especially after a night in the club you can eat this and sleep like a baby without a hangover lol

I ordered the patacon with pernil . Best thing ever just next time ill exclude the so much ketchup since im not too into it. Def a hiden gem!!!!

I ate their Patacones when I went to a Food Cart event hosted by the Food Network Food & Wine festival. It was a good thing I did because the Patacone that I had was very delicious. And I would never have had the chance to taste it if it weren't for the event since this truck is located in Washington Hts or Elmhurst, Queens, which are places that I would never even think to venture into. I got the Beef Patacones and it was soo delicous that I ate the whole thing without sharing. The plaintains are mashed and spread out very thin. They are a perfect substitute to bread, heathly, thin, and has a slight plaintain flavor that it doesn't overwhelm the taste of the meat. The beef was a bit of a disappointment. The beef was a bit hard and not soft and chewy. However, the sauce made up for the inefficiency of the beef. It was packed in flavor and accenturated a great flavor to the overal Patacones. LOVE this place. Will go back if I ever had the inclination to dive into Wasington Hts or Elmhurst Queens.

The best thing that can happen to you in The Heights after 7pm is that you hit up this food truck! You probably want to make it here before MTV makes the area a destination spot. The truck is known for its patacon but the true shining dish is the cachapa. Have it anyway you prefer, regardless the combination of sweet corn and special sauce will shine through. Some tender latin style pork puts it over the top but going for the cheesy vegetarian option is still a solid meal. Don't count the calories and enjoy!

My favorite good truck in all of the city. I have been going here for years. I love the pastelitos and arepas.
