Patchwork - Review - Rittenhouse - Philadelphia - The Infatuation

"Patchwork is a restaurant and bar located on the second floor of the Hyatt Centric Center City in Rittenhouse Square. When you come to sit down in their 50-seat dining room or outdoor patio that looks over Walnut St. for a Happy Hour or dinner, you can sip on cocktails, eat some Cape May oysters, and think about the important things in life like if a hotdog is a sandwich. Outside of a menu that includes burgers, sirloin steak frites, and breakfast options like a ham, egg, and cheese on a pretzel bun, they also have a 24-hour grab-and-go market for sandwiches, salads, coffees, and anything else you’d need to make it through back-to-back meetings on a Monday." - Candis R. One of the best brunch spots in Philly! Patchwork nails it — the vibe is stylish and relaxed, the food is creative without being over the top, and the service is top-notch. We came in for brunch and were blown away by the flavors. The French toast was absolutely delicious, and the cocktails were equally impressive don’t skip the espresso martini. It’s the kind of place where you can linger with friends and enjoy every bite, beautiful space, and views and the staff that make the experience even better. Highly recommend if you’re looking for a fresh, elevated brunch in the city!

The restaurant was very eccentric and the atmosphere was great! The service was efficient. Let’s start with brunch the crab cakes were fresh, but lacked in flavor. The patchwork omelette was pretty decent; The vinaigrette on the arugula was a little too acidic for my liking. The waffles were very delicious and by far my favorite. For dinner I tried the wings, they were flavorful w/ a little spice. The patchwork burger and fries were fresh and were seasoned to perfection.

It’s a really quiet restaurant inside the Hyatt Centric. Small menu with limited choices. They only had a couple of guests on a weekday night when I was there. I got a mushroom au jus and a side of fries as well as a salad. Decent food.

Just left from here and ordered a burger. This was one of the worst burgers I have ever had. I don't understand why Hyatt lease to establishments that cannot cook or serve Good food. They could not even get the bun right. The burger was well on outside and red in inside. I wish I had read the reviews before ordering. They only take cash or room number. No cards. They really need to do better. I tried to eat it but I couldn't. I never saw white pickle before and the lettuce was old. After eating a small amount of that burger my tummy hurts. Manager sucks and has no enthusiasm.

Patchwork is located on the second floor of the Hyatt Centric in the City Center area of Philadelphia. We picked up some snacks there when we first checked in and then had breakfast there the next morning. The restaurant is beautiful, the service was excellent, the food was good but not memorable. The weekend brunch buffet could use some improvements to its offering as it was pretty light on options. With all that being said, it is nice to have a neat little restaurant located in this hotel to stop by for food and drinks if you're staying at the Hyatt Centric.

Been here several times because of the hotel. The only thing consistent about this place is the poor service. The space is nice. The food is below average. This place has a lot of potential but it is not there yet If this was a standalone restaurant, it would never survive.

I am a Hyatt gal so I have been to Patchwork several times. It’s a good spot for a drink to decompress after a meeting. The bartenders are always nice and helpful, outlining tourist attractions around town. The breakfast buffet is amazing. It’s abundance of options over indulges me every time. They have tuna salad on their breakfast buffet which is surprising and odd but I’m into it. The chef of this spot shows growth which I love. Hospitality HQ owns this restaurant. Chef Akhtaraa Nawab, owner of both Alta Calidad in New York (Michelin) and Otra Vez in New Orleans and Co-CEO of Hospitality HQ (HHQ), shows off his 'less-is-more' cooking style at this spot too. He’s been at NYC’s Gramercy Tavern, Craftbar, Craft, and has been in the kitchen at Tom Colicchio’s restaurants for over 10 years. The decor I would call mid century modern. I always try to get someone at the bar to climb the ladder but they never do. Something about consequences.

I didn’t expect much but the food and service were more than average. We could enjoy fresh and perfectly cooked sandwiches with fresh orange juice. The croissant beignets were very great!!!

Yelp
The Patchwork Restaurant is a lobby restaurant in the Hyatt Centric Hotel and was a fine restaurant for several dinners. The hotel restaurant often was not busy during the weeknights. When an event was occurring it seemed like people popped in for a drink before going out or grabbing a drink after returning. The Patchwork Restaurant is open and airy. It isn't a place for clandestine conversations but a good venue for gatherings among friends. The bar was nice and spacious. It was welcoming. The food was solid. The cacio e pepe was my favorite - it was simple, fresh, and tasty without being too heavy. The burger was good, and enjoyable. The roasted chicken was the most disappointing. It was dry and not particularly great. The staff were wonderful. They were engaging conversationalists. Every night at the bar I found good conversation and loved the helpful tips.

Yelp
Delicious food! I really didn't have high expectations for a hotel restaurant with a small-ish menu, but both meals I had here were great. I was in town for work and had very limited time to grab my meals, so the hotel bar it was. The gnocchi for dinner were so soft and flavorful, and both sauces really complimented the dish. It doesn't look like much, but it was filling! The local beer was recommended by the bartender and was fresh and crisp. I did not enjoy the Caesar salad--whole leaves of lettuce I had to cut, too much dressing, and sliced anchovies hidden in the tons of dressing. The next morning for breakfast, the pancakes were fluffy and deliciously paired with some lemon curd--the perfect not-too-sweet combo. They also have a breakfast buffet for those who want lots of variety.

Yelp
The Hyatt Centric is a stellar place to stay in Philadelphia, but Patchwork, the associated restaurant, wasn't the biggest highlight of the trip. I wanted to grab a quick breakfast before heading over to a conference for the day so came down from the hotel room a while after opening. There were one or two dining tables, but I stood waiting at the stand to be seated for over 5 minutes. Two waiters walked up to the bar and hung out chatting but nobody checked to see if I wanted to be seated or went to check in on why there was no hostess at the stand. Eventually, I went up to the bar and asked if I could sit down at one of the empty tables and was told sure. Five minutes later, no waiter at the table, so I went to the bar again where two workers remained talking and asked for the eggs benedict, which eventually was brought out, lukewarm. Overall, not great service or food for an otherwise great hotel. I was in town for a week but ended up choosing to go elsewhere for breakfast for the rest of the trip.

Yelp
Located inside the Hyatt Centric, my friend and I came here for breakfast since we were staying at the hotel and she was leaving early in the morning to go home. Patchwork is located in the lobby of the hotel. It is located opposite to the check in desk and elevators so it doesn't quite feel like a hotel lobby. Food: We tried the following items: Breakfast Tacos - good, but I wish there was more hot sauce available Waffle - standard waffle, cannot go wrong Avocado Toast - I enjoyed this, but I think it could have had a little more seasoning. It was a good size though. For drinks, we also got a latte, mimosa & a Bloody Mary. Each drink was done as expected and would order again. Service: Service was pretty quick and friendly. The quick service was appreciated as I didn't want my friend to miss her bus home. TL;DR - not a bad hotel restaurant for breakfast.

Yelp
Patchwork restaurant is located inside the Hotel's lobby. The hotel is OUTSTANDING. However, the restaurant server was not great by any means at all - he was slow in service, not welcoming, did not let us know their was a Happy Hour currently going on + did not even offer menus for drinks + dining. I would say it took me about 20 mins for to realize he was not going to offer us menus nor greet us. Server was at the bar + clearly saw us because I specifically made eye contact with him...We sat right across him; he was at the bar and we were facing the bar. Anyway, after not receiving menus or an acknowledgement I realized "I would have to call him over to place an order" He did not seem annoying when I spoke to him however he seem like he was in a rush even though during the time I ordered no one was there + he was extremely dismissive he was not patient in any way or willing to offer suggestions. Kindly keep in mind, at the moment when we arrived we were the only ones there ready to eat + dine. I would say about 30 mins after is finally when people started to trickle in. Food was super tasty + fresh ! Food + hotel made up for his (server at restaurant) lack of professionalism + service.

Yelp
Patchwork is fine for a breakfast. The decor was fresh and clean and pleasant. It was not a cheap breakfast so you certainly pay for the convenience if you are staying in the hotel. The food was fine and the service was relatively quick. I believe this is a good place if you want convenience without a long walk.

Yelp
Food was not good. I ordered the medium well burger and it was very dry. The Caesar salad had huge pieces of anchovy. The fries tasted like they came from a frozen bag. The charcuterie meats were stale and sad. We ordered the 7 piece and left over 1/2 of it. Also ordered a margarita that tasted like flat like juice. There was no salt or hint of tequila. It does not live up to its website and I'm sad I spent the money that I did. Also... the server never refilled our water or asked if we wanted more drinks. There was only 1 other table seated... so it was not an issue of being busy. Not worth it. Keep going.

Yelp
TLDR: - aesthetics: 5/5 - food: 3/5 - service: 2.5/5 - price: 2/5 my boyfriend and I decided to try Patchwork on Sunday morning for breakfast/brunch after looking at their instagram and website menu, however, i don't think we'd come back. we were super excited to try their brunch items (offered on the weekends only), but we were given breakfast menus. when we asked about the brunch we were given a different menu but it wasn't the same as the one posted online (we really wanted to try the duck & waffles and the everything philly muffin). we ended up getting the chicken and waffles ($24) and the eggs benedict ($18). nothing life changing and kinda overpriced. i also asked for home fries ($3) but didn't get them but also wasn't charged. in terms of service, our server was friendly but not super present. i meant to ask her about the home fries that i ordered and never got, but by the time she came to see us, my food was done and i didn't want to wait around for it. we also waited a bit for our bill (it did get busier as the morning went on). aesthetically, the place is stunning. it has a modern yet rustic/cozy feel. there's also tons of seating, both at the bar and for regular dining.

Yelp
Food is highly overpriced and not worth it. I ordered steak and fries but the steak was too rare. I requested to have it cooked longer and they did. But it was only medium rare and I asked for well done! And We waited a long time for our food!

Warren B.

Yelp
Super nice staff when i came for breakfast. Manager was very kind. The eggs Beni was good and the pancakes and sausage were very good. It's actually a pretty decent breakfast and they have a buffet that's legit. Nice ambiance too.

Yelp
We weren't happy after our breakfast at this place. My omelette came very plain, with a few slices of cabbage, without even a tiny slice of bread or hash brown. My husband's croissant sandwich was ok. Nevertheless, we could have good lunch for the money we paid there. The service was mediocre, and they are clearly understaffed. Our waitress was friendly, but when she spilled the coffee on our table, she apologized but didn't think it was necessary to clean it. We will not be back

Paula C.

Yelp
I went to happy hour with a group and ordered a glass of red wine. The happy hour price is $8. I handed the bartender a $20 bill and he gave me $11 back. I said I think you owe me another dollar. The bartender said there was tax making the price $9. This happened to several of my friends and it is unacceptable. I would have tipped but I didn't because I don't think the bartender is honest. I will not return. I have never been to a happy hour where the listed price wasn't the actual price.

Yelp
I normally don't bother with leaving a review for a hotel restaurant, however, this one is an exception. As a crewmember we try to take in breakfast anywhere we go considering the amount of work we have to do thereafter. This was my first overnight in Philly and I went downstairs in the morning for breakfast. First off I sat for over 10 minutes waiting for a server; you've already left your mark on a diner right there. Then came the part to order; I ordered the veggie omelet (centric omelet or whatever it was called) with white toast. I also asked for coffee (under the presumption that coffee is complimentary typically whenever I have stayed). Coffee was more lukewarm hot than actually hot and tasted like there was alcohol in there. There was no spoon and I had to wave to the server to bring me one by which time the coffee was cold. The server didn't bother to mention there was a charge for the coffee and I believe this is pertinent information because you are taking OUR money. The food comes out and I see wheat toast and I mentioned to the server that it wasn't what I ordered. I handed the plate back to the server and he said "I'll just take the toast off the plate so I don't touch the other food" and he plucked it out. I was out of patience at this point but who the f-- does that??? The omelet was literal crap with no taste at all; someone just decided to smack a few spinach leaves and gob of mushrooms and some cheese in one area and send it out. The potatoes were also stale and not even salt or hot sauce could cure either. The service is appalling; not once did a server come and ask if I needed a coffee refill or how the food was or if I needed anything. I tip generously because waiting tables is a hard job but I will not tip a dime if someone doesn't warrant it. I'd have rather thrown out our $20 crewmember credit and gone outside somewhere to spend money out of my own pocket on breakfast than eat at Patchwork. Never again.

Yelp
Great place for causal breakfast in the center of Philadelphia Avocado toast is recommended.

Yelp
The space is gorgeous The bartenders were friendly Would return sometime.* *overall pretty good but the drinks were inconsistently made. But the ambience was great and if I was in a pinch to go out in the area it would stay on my list

Yelp
Our food has been delicious both days! My daughters asked to come back for breakfast. The waffles, pancakes, oatmeal and omelets were all a big hit. And the service was excellent! They even made a call to a local store they recommended to make sure they were open and had what we were looking for. Such a gem.

Jay H.

Yelp
Folks - I encourage you to seek other options that are within walking distance. We waited close to 1 hour for 2 breakfast croissant sandwiches (scrambled eggs, ham, cheese, presliced croissants). Although our server said our food would be coming out "any moment," we saw other customers who arrived after us get their food before we did. When the sandwiches arrived, they lacked flavor and on one sandwich the breakfast potatoes arrived completely cold.

Jeff Z.

Yelp
Great restaurant. I tried breakfast and draft beer, great food and service. Located in the lobby of Hyatt Centric hotel.

Vincent W.

Yelp
Outstanding hotel restaurant near downtown Philadelphia, worthy of consideration because you do not have to be staying at the Hyatt Centric to dine there. Staff is efficient and friendly. Prices are reasonable for the area, and the chef knows his/her craft well because the food is excellent. Roasted gochujang brussel sprouts. 'Nuff said.

Yelp
Staying at the hotel and was exhausted from traveling, so decided to grab dinner here. Dinner wait staff was so helpful and attentive! The burger was kind of unreal! Like so delicious, I was blown away. Then wandered down for breakfast in the am. Once again wait staff was so great! Super attentive and accommodating. Georgia made me an iced coffee even though it wasn't on the menu. The pancakes are so yummy! Not sure what they do different, but I wasn't expecting to be blown away by pancakes haha! The wait staff also gave me great tips for exploring the city, which was a bonus. Enjoy this great place!!

Yelp
The Patchwork Restaurant is a Philadelphia winner! This is a destination whether you are staying at the fabulous Hyatt Centric Hotel or local.

Yelp
With a sudden change of dinner plans after a 10-mile jaunt around Center City my wife and I decided to try Patchwork and ordered items to go, so we could relax in our room. The menu seemed limited but had items of interest. The verdict? Eighteen minutes after ordering our food was ready. Portion size? Fair. Price? Fair. Quality? Yes! The gnocchi and the burger were each freshly made and delicious. Granted it was 6:00pm on a Saturday so the food was likely ready for a decent night of business. Yet the restaurant appears to be in a under-the-radar phase plagued by unfair Yelp reviews made on the busiest worst dining days of the year. Brunch? This seems like a Hilton Garden Inn with a gourmet bistro. So dinner was great. And the carrot cake for dessert was as well. Very satisfied. Would we have considered if we were not staying at the Hyatt Centric? Likely no. And that's something Patchwork needs to remedy!

Yelp
Staying in the hotel for along weekend, and so far had an evening cocktail and breakfast at Patchwork. The staff and lovely, helpful, chatty and accommodating. And breakfast was quite simply delicious . Highly recommended.

DJ J.

Yelp
The Philadelphia side car is definitely a must try. After a long day of working Lucy crafted the perfect drink for a night cap. She was even kind enough to mention a couple late night eats around the town. She definitely knows her stuff.

Quynh T.

Yelp
The food was really good. The portions are small but I do not eat a lot so I don't mind. It is relatively expensive though, but I would definitely eat there again. The food was well seasoned. Had the scallops and octopus and lobster mac and they were all good except we thought the mac had too little lobster but it is also a whole tail so I understand.

Yelp
Great breakfast, had a great server, and the food was very good - free for Globalists

Yelp
I think Patchwork is a hidden gem in Philly. The chef Jonathan and his staff offer unique selections that are spectacular! You must try the burger! The specialty cocktails are amazing too. I was staying at the Hyatt Centric where Patchwork is located, and I was so pleasantly surprised at the caliber of this restaurant. Give it a try. You won't be disappointed.

Yelp
We enjoyed breakfast at Patchwork restaurant at the Hyatt. Food was hot, well seasoned, promptly served, and the wait staff was friendly, highly recommend to hotel guests. Will come again.

S J.

Yelp
Hair in the scrambled eggs, moldy strawberry in the fruit salad, terrible coffee.... Complaints from every table and a frazzled, barely polite server. Will not be eating here again.

Viacheslav K.

Yelp
Waited for 40 minutes just to put an order. The area where we had a table was very busy and only one waiter serving it. The other two guys were serving empty bar area and didn't care to help, despite my several asks. Never again and do not recommend unless you have a couple of hours so waste.

Suj K.

Yelp
Worst breakfast. None of the ingredients tasted fresh including scrambled eggs. We asked for a fresh avocado on the side to feed the baby, they said they don't have fresh avocados, they use premixed avocados. Decor at the restaurant is the only positive thing to mention.

M S.

Yelp
Great bf this morning at the patchwork! Loved the collection of teas , the omelette and the pancakes. The decor is beautiful and the service is friendly and on point. We will definitely be checking this out again whenever we are staying at the hotel or in the area!

Steven G.

Yelp
Under staffed. Was seated for breakfast and was not offered coffee. Waited 10 minutes and then walked to the bar to ask if I was supposed to order there. Rarely checked on. Had to wave the server over for refills. Food was good. Not the experience you expect for the price.

Darna S.

Yelp
Great food, great service especially by Gumer! Hyatt Centric Philadelphia is like our home sweet home when we're in Philly.

Bob F.

Yelp
This was a good breakfast in a comfortable low-key place. The service was good and it was pretty reasonably priced for a restaurant in a hotel.

Kevin M.

Yelp
Great food, kid friendly, exceptionally friendly staff, I love the decor. Doesn't feel like a hotel lounge at all. Highly recommend!

Katie E.

Yelp
Very friendly and great vibes! Lucy was super nice and made an awesome mocktail for me!

Jennifer E.

Yelp
This was our first time visiting this restaurant. We ate brunch here. It was one of the best breakfasts we have ever had. We highly recommend patchwork.

Flow D.

Yelp
Loved the food and drinks and the service from Lucy was amazing. She was fantastic! Thank you so much for your caring and kindness when we mentioned our son's food allergies. So happy with everything and this restaurant only solidified our love for this hotel.

Jim R.

Yelp
I had the patchwork burger. It was cooked to medium rare as requested and was a good portion size. Not crazy big like some restaurants.

Marci C.

Yelp
Very attentive staff and great drinks and food! Love the cozy atmosphere. Will definitely be back!

Donna M.

Yelp
Staff was very friendly and accommodating even though they are short staffed...with all of the great restaurants in the area, I thought the food was above par and surpassed restaurants in the area

Shere' C.

Yelp
Great food! Grear service! You don't eve. have to leave the hotel for good food.

Manikandan N.

Yelp
Service at the bar and the restaurant is great. The waiters and at the bar are very attentive and attend to you the moment you arrive. Food is great, wait time for the food was about average. very friendly and good service.

Kimberlyn T.

Yelp
Me and my significant other came for the night, trying a new spot! We shared a small plate of brussels sprouts and it was delicious!! He ordered the blackened salmon which was seasoned well but he's a big guy so the plate was too small for him unfortunately. I ordered the roasted chicken which was a big size portion and tasted great. I had to take half back to the room. The margarita was delicious, very good and well made lol. Our server Jessica was great!! The atmosphere was nice, music playing and if you sat at the bar you could watch a big screen tv.

Kate D.

Yelp
Very cute atmosphere, great location. Drinks are a little expensive, but the bartender was kind and knowledgeable

Anthony P.

Yelp
Friendly and courteous staff. Thank you for a nice time at your beautiful hotel.

Heidi J.

Yelp
Service and food excellent. The decor and atmosphere was very quiet and relaxing. My daughter's favorite dish was the cauliflower - and she's twelve - well done!
