Exquisite coffee, inventive pastries, breakfast, and lunch

"South Austinites grieved the loss of the flagship Patika in late 2024. Luckily, those who love Patika’s exquisite coffee from local roaster Superthing and inventive pastries can still get a fix at the cafe’s Downtown location in the lobby of an office building. If one of Patika’s seasonal scones or flavor-packed biscuits won’t quell your hunger, order a larger brunch of dishes like French toast, chilaquiles, or avocado toast for carryout. To-go orders can be placed in person or online." - Taylor Tobin

"A South Lamar spot for well-made lattes and pastries, recommended as a reliable morning coffee destination." - Courtney E. Smith

"Along with great coffee and baked goods, the South Lamar neighborhood cafe offers breakfast and lunch daily, all made to order from the food truck out back. Start the day with a shakshuka toast (served on weekends) or the breakfast sandwich with tomato jam and bacon, or stop in mid-day for the grilled cheese. Brunch service sees compelling additions like biscuits and gravy and a migas omelet. Takeout orders can be placed online; there are indoor and outdoor dine-in areas." - Nadia Chaudhury

"An offshoot of the defunct South Lamar coffee shop Patika, Patika Luncheonette is tucked away on the ground floor of the 100 Congress building (it’s kind of a secret spot, hiding behind the elevator bank). Open Monday through Friday from 7am to 4pm, it’s a small space with only five tiny tables and some counter seating. The draw here is the excellent coffee. If you realize you’ve forgotten to eat today and need a bite before your next meeting, know that the breakfast tacos, sandwiches, and salads are also good. It’s a decent place to get work done or have a meeting—even with a constant stream of office workers popping in—with good Wi-Fi but not a lot of outlets." - nicolai mccrary, raphael brion

"Alas, Patika closed down its flagship cafe on South Lamar but thankfully, its spirit lives on with its downtown location within an office building lobby. There are its thoughtful coffees (the vanilla latte remains one of the best in town) as well as house-made baked goods and hearty daytime dishes. Takeout orders are placed online or in person." - Erin Russell
