The Best Restaurants in Sebastopol | Eater SF

"This petite patisserie earned a Slow Food Snail badge for its French specialties like frangipane and gateau Basque, a dense cake loaded with butter and eggs that hails from Southwest France. Angelica’s many fans also love the cream scones, gluten-free goodies like flourless chocolate cake, and high tea that includes your choice of Mariage Freres Tea, macarons, mini scones, and finger sandwiches (reservations are recommended)." - Maria C. Courteous but not as friendly as other places, but it was slammed at lunch time. Their food is wonderful. Expensive, but you get what you pay for here. We (2) had breakfast for around $50. Two quiches, two scones, two coffees. But their best of show, gold medal winning cake was heaven on a fork. Amazing. I bought two as gifts.

TLDR; Great selection of pastries. Skip the coffee and get the tea instead. We came in first thing in the morning and there was already a line, which moves quite slowly- so if you’re not big on waiting, get here sharp at opening time. Food: we ordered the almond peach tart, almond chocolate croissants and a blueberry scone - everything was so incredibly good. The croissants are so flaky, and probably the best I’ve ever had. We also got the opera cakes to go, but I wasn’t too impressed with those. Drinks: the coffee is quite mediocre but the tea selection is absolutely fantastic.

Oh, so lovely. An authentic European bakery with delightful offerings. The little cakes are fantastic. Definitely worth a stop for a little snack or to pick up dessert.

Visit Patisserie Angelica, everything is delicious! My personal favorite is Gateau Parisian, which I haven't found at any other patisserie around Bay Area and surrounding areas. It's light, unique, delicious, and leaves you wanting to have another one. Very European, which is an uncommon treat for the area.  But  everything else is a must try as well. Recently had the pleasure of having owner, Gergana, create a custom cake for my grandma's 100th Birthday celebration. Two layers, one was Almond Apricot Cake  (also unique and quite delicious cake you can't find anywhere else in the nearby 100+ radius area) and the other Tahitian Vanilla Bean Cake (delicate, light and to fit most taste-buds) were gone in matter of minutes. Design paid tribute to my grandma's interests (love for lilacs and cross-stitching) and Gergana captured conceptual design and doodle mockups in such a beautiful and neat detail that I, Grandma, and everyone was marveling at it every chance we got. We didn't want to cut into the cakes to ruin the creation, but glad we did because the cakes were incredibly tasty.  Grateful to Gergana for her care, attention to detail, patience working with me and my requests. Her customer care and patisserie skills capture you (well they captured me) and you're happy to be coming back for more, even when you have to commute to them hour-and-a-half + (without traffic, one way). My family and I are amazed at your skills and appreciate you taking such artistic and baking expertise and care into making this cake.  This cake creation was memorable, unique, and scrumptious, and left a very personal and touching imprint on my Grandma's special day and for all of us celebrating. Thank you!

Google
My first and last visit here, was trying to find a good fresh decadent treat. Not grocery store bakery, here in Guerneville there’s no more old fashioned bakery. So this bakery came up on search nearby , I needed to go to WF anyway. So I went to this place today, was around 2:30ish on a Saturday. One person sitting, one employee. Employee was very good, some things had prices some didn’t. First thing I noticed, how tiny most pastries are. Even macrons were tiny @$3 each ! I bought the raspberry/rose flavored, 2 of them. They were so hard and stale, I was extremely disappointed. I also bought a vanilla bean tiny cake, and a tiny lemon meringue tart. No prices on the tarts or cakes, the macrons did. I haven’t eaten the cake or tart yet, I’ll update when I do. I just ate 1 of the macrons, as I said so hard and stale not much flavor either sadly. Sorry if I drug out my opinion, just wanted y’all to get the jist of my experience. I put a quarter next to the macron for size judgment total cost for these items was $30, I’ll try anywhere at least once. If it’s worth the price in my opinion, I’ll be back for sure. My guess with the ratings/reviews of this place, are maybe because of there cakes ? One thing that sticks out more then anything in the pastry case, everything was so small. Even the cupcakes, really small @$5 each Update, like the cookies stale. Vanilla bean cake was very dry, icing dry cracked. Good flavor, but sadly stale. The lemon meringue tart, very rubbery. I was so craving a light flaky butter crust, it was not even close…sadly. I’m guessing maybe they were made earlier in the week ? Didn’t see any dates under, sometimes there’s a little sticker under the paper/tray. Being as stale as they all were, should have been a markdown in my opinion, how often do they taste their own products after a few days ? Maybe they should? I’d want to know I’m selling the items that make people want to come back, first impression is so important. Back to searching for a good old fashioned bakery

Google
Fantastic Bakery and loved the baked goddies Almond Choc Croissant was impeccable also their lemon tart was awesome as well. I wouldn't agree with another reviewer that the topping on lemon tart was soggy. It was as good as it gets. Kudos to Ms. Condra and her Sister. It was our first time there and they were great.

Had tea in this small little bakery. >Tea was nice, over a dozen choices for tea and everyone got their own pot. Only thing I didn't like regarding the tea itself was that if one requested a second pot , one did not get a fresh pot, one just got more hot water. >The sandwiches that came with the tea were tasty, but there were only 3 kinds, usually one gets more. Angelica's staff made up the difference by serving 2 scones per person, same flavor, current. I would have rather had a larger quantity of sandwiches, than 2 of the same flavored scone. > The spot where are table(s) were set, had plenty of pillows on the bench/window seat. And we were off to the side of the main "dining" area. The french music played softly in the background, which allowed for pleasant conversation without yelling. >Although parking was difficult, the drive from the Golden Gate Bridge into Sebastopol was lovely.

She is the BEST!!!! We ordered a sponge bob square pants cake and it was much better than the inspiration picture I sent her. She is very sweet, accommodating and incredibly kind. The cake exceeded our expectations and it was DELICIOUS! Definitely the absolute BEST bakery ever!! Thank you!!! ❤️

Yelp
Patisserie Angelica created the most breathtaking and delicious wedding cake we could have ever dreamed of. From start to finish, working with Gergana was an absolute pleasure--her professionalism, warmth, and clear passion for her craft truly set her apart. Our cake was a unique and unforgettable creation: almond-based layers filled with brandied apricots, her signature house-made organic blackberry jam, and a luscious apricot buttercream. The flavor combination was exquisite--elegant, perfectly balanced, and completely original. Our guests are still talking about it weeks later! Visually, the cake was a showstopper--graceful, refined, and perfectly suited to our wedding aesthetic. Gergana took the time to understand our vision and translated it into something even more beautiful than we imagined. If you're looking for a wedding cake that tastes as incredible as it looks--and one made with the highest quality ingredients and genuine artistry-- Patisserie Angelica is simply the best. We are so grateful for the love and care she poured into making our big day extra sweet.

Yelp
I grew up in Sebastopol, yet somehow had never tried the patisserie. Finally met up with a friend there for lunch today, and was so glad I did. I tried the almond croissant and a decaf latte with almond milk. It seemed like more of a coffee with cream than a latte? The milk wasn't steamed like a typical latte--it came in a tiny pitcher on the side--but the coffee itself was quite nice so I was happy. The almond croissant was divine. Flaky and crisp on the outside, soft and gooey and filled with almondy goodness inside. I could have eaten four of them. Will certainly go back again as I saw a lot of tempting pastries in the case. Reminds me of what Village Bakery used to be when I was a kid and we'd pick up fruit turnovers for my school lunch. The ambience is lovely. Cozy and relaxing and the folks who run it seem nice. We got a comfy plush bench with pillows for seating. Even my friend's dachshund was welcome; he curled up and chilled in the corner while we ate and chatted.

Yelp
I visited Patisserie Angelica on the recommendation of a friend on my way out of town. My biggest regret is that I didn't have a moment to sit down and take in the fun indoor and outdoor space while having some pastries and coffee. The person at the counter confirmed with me that everything is made in-house from seasonal and locally sourced ingredients. My "to go " order consisted of a croissant, almond croissant, pain chocolate, a berry tart and 4 pre-wrapped madeleines. The berry tart was amazing ! Not too sweet and the pastry had a great non-mush texture. I found myself wishing I had more. With regard to the croissant and the almond croissant...for me the almond was better in every way, flavor, crunchy texture, etc. The plain croissant had a mushy slightly chewy exterior which I didn't like and the flavor was just okay. With regard to the pain chocolate, there wasn't enough chocolate...one bite and the rest was a mushy croissant with a hint of chocolate. That said, I think if I had visited closer to when they opened as opposed to near closing...everything would have been better...I understand that all well made pastries have a limited "shelf life". Good pastries but they left me wanting...I need to come back and just go crazy !

Yelp
First time visiting this establishment and I was taken aback by the lack of transparency on their pricing of items in the baked goods section. As a customer I think not only is it important to label what the items are (which they did have) but also include the price of the item on those labels as well. I saw no menu listing the items and their pricing at all except for the drink/beverage menu. Unless I somehow missed it but I checked around for pricing. I hope this will be something they can improve in order to be more transparent with customers.

Yelp
Wonderful food, great service and a beautiful ambiance as well! Angelica made the wedding cake for my daughter's wedding and it was gorgeous and tasty as well. I've had high tea here once before. I am going again next week and highly recommend it.

Yelp
we stopped in to see if we could get a sandwich here, but they only had one cheese and ham sandwich which we got. It was on the dry side and if I had known that the Rialto theater had food I would've preferred getting food there. The pastries looked delicious, but we didn't get any. The staff was friendly.

Yelp
July 2023 So we had stopped in since we got one of those Sonoma deals for a discount. You'd think that getting up to 100 would be hard but our commitment to carbs and sweets runs deep apparently. We ended up with 3 or 4 boxes I'd say. Service was friendly and helpful with any questions we had, though we really did end up getting a few of each things for most of the case at the front. Everything had good flavors for us tho even we ran into a wall eventually. For the Gluten Free offerings, the brownie was good but the Gateau Parisien was our friends favorite by far out of everything. I really liked the fruit tart and the snickerdoodle. The blueberry scone was nice with a good ratio of blueberries in it.

Yelp
The Rouge Provence tea (caffeine free) is one of the best teas I've ever had, so so lovely, flavorful and balance. The rouge bourbon vanille was a bit underwhelming and mild in comparison, not worth the price in my opinion unless you like very light flavors. The flourless chocolate cake is absolutely delicious, and a fantastic gluten free option, not too sweet, great texture. The coffee macaroon, however, was very stale and so hard on the inside we could barely bite through it. She did tell us to let it get to room temp before eating it, which we didn't, so that's totally on us, but the top completely cracked/crumbled and fell apart and there was no fluffiness to it at all, just an air pocket with a dry exterior and I don't think that would have changed if we had let it sit out longer. The flavor was overwhelmingly sweet as well. I rarely eat sugar these days so I'm a little biased in that regard, but it tasted more like sugar than coffee. In hindsight, I also think it's odd to buy something at a bakery and to be told to wait until it reaches room temp before eating it. If you're purchasing a buttercream cake then maybe I would understand, but people go to bakeries to buy ready to eat baked goods and I suspect the macaron was not fresh which is why it was being kept cool and ultimately became too hard and stale. I hate writing anything negative, but I saw a few other people mention the same thing so I thought I should confirm that I had the same experience and I just hope the Patisserie listens and make some changes so they get more (happy!) customers!

Yelp
Visited for a seated high tea experience. Barbara just loves high tea. Having a really expensive one at a very fancy hotel in London a few months ago was the highlight of her vacation. Here a Angelica the price tag was not nearly as breath taking and the ambience was more folksy. The folks here sure are happy, friendly and helpful. You feel really welcome here. The high tea itself is the 3 tiered plates of little finger foods. Some sweet, just a few savory little finger sandwiches. The tea selection is wide, there are 2 dozen available. I chose the green Marco Polo. It was one of the smoothest and delightfully flavorful teas I've drunk in my 71 years on this planet. A very pleasant 45 minute experience and sensible snack. If you or your favorite person enjoys the European high tea experience, this one can satisfy that without suffering the long airline flight to England.

Yelp
Custom Tahitian Vanilla birthday cake was a disappointment. I ordered cake 1-week ahead for pickup on 12/29 and requested bday greeting for a big milestone bday. While cake greeting was correct, upon getting home - I noticed there was a large Christmas tree on the side of cake! It was 12/29 and Christmas had passed. The cake was very dry and without vanilla flavor; and the buttercream frosting unremarkable. My hunch is they used an older, already made cake and added my greeting. I will be in touch with the Manager tomorrow. While service was very friendly, they appeared unorganized. I really wanted to love their cake!

Yelp
This place is absolutely amazing! They made my daughter's cake exactly like the inspo pic!, also they made it on shorter notice. I am so happy with the cake! The staff was very friendly as well! I will definitely be back!

Yelp
This phenomenal French style bakery really made our trip, especially because they had so many gluten free options. Thank you, thank you! We got a gluten free carrot cake, brownie, almond cake, and chocolate devils food cake (all little personal sizes). Jon got himself a lemon tart (not gluten free), and then we proceeded to enjoy eating all of these goodies over the next two days. They were absolutely delicious. Moist, fluffy, creamy, rich... and everything tasted very fresh and real. The bakery itself is also very cozy and feels quite warm and European. I've only been to a handful of patisseries in France, so I'm no expert, but I think the parisians would love Angelica!

Yelp
Wow wow and more wow. Gergana Karaelov has a very special place tucked behind movie theater.

Yelp
Love love love this spot! Have tried the mini cakes, cookies, croissants and macaroons and they are all 10/10. The employees are so sweet and it's such a cozy environment!

Yelp
Wonderful pastries and cakes! I am a baker myself and can tell that these is a lot of love and passion put in their work Would definitely recommend this place!
google avatar

Christina H.

Yelp
Very tasty pastries and an amazing tea selection. So glad to see a cafe serving proper high tea!

Megan W.

Yelp
the place was clean and food looked nice but staff was not well educated about what they were serving and the $8 item i selected was a small cake, it was more buttercream than cake and unfortunately both were underwhelming/ borderline bad. it was difficult to eat as well, the cake was crumbly in a very unpleasant way that made it near impossible to put together a bite on a fork. it didn't seem fresh and didn't deliver on taste.
google avatar

Yelp
This tucked away, unassuming gem of a pastry shop still serves exquisite pastries, albeit at fairly high prices now. We got here at around 1 PM and amazingly there were two croissants left! Their offerings range from small, individual pastries to cakes, cookies and top-notch coffee drinks. Wonderfully shaded and relatively private outdoor seating is available most weekdays on their front porch. On weekends, you wanna get here early to snag an outdoor table! Their prize-winning chocolate decadence cake was in on the bottom of the cake section for about $60. If you're looking for a wedding or special event cake, this is the place to come. There is even a private salon in the back where you can peruse extraordinary cakes and tailor them to your specifications. If you have the budget for it, this place will not disappoint!
google avatar

Linda P.

Yelp
Still no prices listed anywhere. The small "specialty" cake (coffee and chocolate) was disappointing (dry cake, no real flavor to any of it). However, the fruit tarts were amazing! Only reason I gave this establishment 4 stars. Did not try the coffee. Outside porch looks nice to sit and enjoy the fare.

Yelp
Beautifully decorated pastries and great coffee . It's worth the extra for such great service.

Jen O.

Yelp
Just had to mention the hot chocolate at Angelica's. We ran in there before a movie last weekend. I was transported back to Paris - thick, rich, dark. I literally spooned the last of it from the cup. So good!

Lynn P.

Yelp
Gergana made the most beautiful custom cake for my daughter's baby shower. The cake turned out amazing and was very delicious too. Gergana was such a joy to work with. Her kindness and customer service were superb. She really cares for her customers. I highly recommend her

Yelp
As you walk into this bakeshop, I was tempted on the variety of small petite cakes on their display, they were beautifully decorated, and very artistic. I tried the coconut passion fruit cream cake. It was light not to sweet, it had small bits of passion fruit and the cream was smooth, it just had a small lite portion of the cake, I would prefer if it had more cake to it compare to the cream. Just disappointed on how pricey for a tiny size cake, it's a size of a small cupcake.

Yelp
Fabulous across the board and and equally incredible value, considering the talent and quality needed to produce such high art in baked goods! We have been happily sharing every celebration and special moment with this staple of an institution in our little town. Other bakeries come and go but thankfully we have had the pleasure of ordering or picking up impromptu cakes pies cookies jams sauces from Patisserie and they have made our shared memories even sweeter

Yelp
The tea service, pastries & ambience are all amazing. Gluten free treats too!! I love it here.
google avatar

Yelp
I bought a gluten free almond cake and was extremely pleased. Great flavor and quite beautiful. It was layered with creamy goodness with a sprinkling of confectioners sugar on top. My guests couldn't say enough. I'll be returning soon. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

Yelp
I've gone here twice in the past couple weeks. My family are big fans! We love their tea service. They carry a wide selection of teas. Staff is always friendly and attentive. You can also grab drinks and treats to go. They have an outdoor patio as well. Lots of parking.
google avatar

Georgi S.

Yelp
It's one of the best bakeries with an European style pastries. Love their opera cake but the other are awesome. It's a family business with awesome people and pastries. It is a hidden gem.

Yelp
This small-town cute, chic patisserie is a great place to stop by for afternoon tea or baked goods. Patisserie Angelica was recommended to us by another bakery while searching for a birthday cake over the weekend. Luckily they are one of the only few in the area that makes custom cakes for events. When we arrived we realized they served a lot of other pastries and decided to check some out while we were there. I enjoyed the baklava from here. It's a great place to stop by for coffee or tea because the aesthetics of the store. They use beautiful plates and china for their teas/cups. The workers here were very friendly and patient as well. They were kind enough to get a cake together for us within an hour notice.

Yelp
Called today to order their tea kits to go as stated on their website: "The SIP (shelter-in-place)Tea Kit - order and enjoy a special tea party at home! Chose a flavorful tea from Mariage Freres Tea from Paris. The petit fours that come with your tea kit include mini versions of some of our most revered desserts. The SIP Tea Kit is priced at $25 and comes boxed for one. Order as many as you like for your tea party Gluten-free also available." Turns out you need 1 day notice so that they can bake their items but nowhere on their website states that! They need to update their website to reflect that!

Yelp
Located downtown Sebastopol, Patisserie Angelica is a slightly hidden gem on the backside of the local movie theater (Rialto). This review is all about one person and a cake. I reached out and left a voicemail about a cake for my bff's 40th, and Gergana texted me back that evening. We pretty much worked the whole thing out over a series of texts - images of example cakes, the text for the cake, how many to feed (40 ppl), etc. Not only did Gergana deliver, the cake was amazing! She made what I'd asked for - a mix tape sitting on top of it's cassette box, with a little tape hanging out. The cake was lemon flavored, light, soft, fluffy and delicious. If you need a custom cake made, at an extremely reasonable price, Patisserie Angelica is your go-to! Note: I did request this about three weeks out, ahead of a holiday weekend to boot. They are busy with weddings, etc., so try to give them as much notice as possible.
google avatar

Ann H.

Yelp
I'm ranking Patisserie Angelica 5 stars across the board on 3 criteria: 1) their baked goods (obviously...so good!!); 2) their catering (they catered my wedding last year and impressed even my food snob friends/family haha); and 3) their afternoon tea service. Sebastopol, we are so lucky to have owners Gergana and Jennifer in our midst. Thank you Patisserie Angelica!!
google avatar

Yelp
Don't recommend the "high tea." $160 for 4 people, which consisted of 2 small scones each (with a pathetically tiny helping of sweet cream, lemon curd and jam), 2 tiny savory pastries, a couple of small sandwich squares, and a trio of tiny dessert samplers. If you ask for more tea, you get lukewarm water added to your spent tea leaves. No new tea given. The service is nonexistent. You have to step into the kitchen every time you need assistance. In no way was this worth $160. This review is specifically for the "high tea." The bakery itself is excellent.

Yelp
Superbly Delicious and decent looking... For my 30th birthday I had this wild idea to have a croquembouche in place of a cake. I had reached out to almost every bakery I could find to see if anyone could make me one in time for my party. Upon my research, only two places in Sonoma County offered this delectable treat. One of them was booked out, so Patisserie Angelica was the winner. There was a bit of back and forth phone tag for a bit working out the details. I had to follow up a few times to ensure all ducks in a row. Thankfully they offered delivery (seriously though, I could NOT imagine trying to drive this tower around successfully). Drop off was about 10 -15 minutes late, but I honestly didn't mind as the whole party was running wayyy late anyways. Some of the decorations discussed weren't included, and the Rep mentioned the black fondant didn't come right so she had to forgo. Even though it wasn't the aesthetic I was picturing, the taste was worth it! These little puff balls melted in your mouth, with a burst creme pat that was as silky as could be. It was fun to grab and go and definitely a hit with the family and friends. I'm excited to try more sweets from this shop and have heard nothing but the best recommendations. For now, I'm all Croquembouched out.

Yelp
The desserts here are exquisite! The flavors are beyond words in so many of these delicious tasty treats. You will not be disappointed in anything you decide to have here!

Yelp
Ordered my sister's birthday cake from this cute little bakery and fell in love! It is one of the best cakes I have had. So favorable and yet simple. I was running late for my cake pickup but they were luckily open late for a tasting event. The lady is the sweetest and very accommodating. Will surely stop by during my next visit to Santa Rosa.

Yelp
Absolutely perfect pastisserie, with little desserts to tickle every palette. We got a variety in a box for a little home celebration, and we shared them all so we could taste everything. There was not one that we did not like. It was a special special occasion, the final birthday for a friend who has a terminal illness. Seeing him enjoy every bite meant the world to me. Will definitely indulge here again, with many appreciative memories of my first experience there.
google avatar

Yelp
Best valentines cheesecake of all time!! Always wows my loved ones! In the past I have purchased their best in show, this time I'm going in a different direction, but no less decadent!
google avatar

Jo P.

Yelp
I love all their beautiful treats. And I especially love some of the staff, specifically a young lady (teen?) with brown hair and a soft voice. Well masked up, so I feel comfortable going into the store. Her service was impeccable. I do have one request for the manager/owner: please give her a hug/pat in the back if she is open to it because I just saw a video when this extremely rude woman with a major vocal fry threatened her with jail for "discrimination" for following your rules, as a private business. This young lady looked so anxious and yet was quiet and polite. Please thank her for me for doing what's right.
google avatar

Juli R.

Yelp
Their mini cakes are to die for!! Perfect for sharing with another. I also love the macarons, perfect texture and the filling is not overly sweet. It feels like taking a bite out of Paris! Also the customer service is superb. We had a lot of questions about how things were baked and they answered each one with excitement, you can tell they really love their work. Everyone was so friendly and I appreciate that, it is not easy being in the customer service business especially right now with so many rules and safety measures to follow. But I appreciate business' that are helping keep us all safe & doing what they can to stop the spread

Yelp
Lovely sweet deserts. Excellent costumer service . We had the most delicious chocolate cake I ever had . Sweet and decadent to perfection. We will definitely be back when visiting town again. Thank you for the sweet memories!!!

Yelp
Some excellent pastries and good social distancing. I tried some of each flavor of macaroon they had that day, plus the super indulgent gateau parisien, which is also based on macarons but with hazelnut frosting and an almond croissant. The macarons came in some interesting flavors including lavender, salted caramel and meyer lemon. While the macarons themselves were very good - hard shell with a soft interior and just a little chewy - I wish the flavors inside were much more pronounced. The flavors come out at the end, with very sweet vanilla frosting type flavor being what I tasted first and foremost, as other reviewers have mentioned. They are excellent and yet I wish they would turn up the flavor dial quite a lot. I'd love a big punch of lemon or caramel in them, not just a hint of the flavor at the end. The gateau parisien was amazing. Again, perfectly made marcarons and delicious hazlenut frosting covering it plus a nutty outside covering. Very delicious but like the macarons, extremely sweet. I'd be much happier with these wonderful delicious treats if they turned down the sugar content. The croissant wasn't bad with nice frangipan inside and drizzled with chocolate. Not as amazingly flaky as I'd like in a croissant, but I am picky about that and it was still a very delicious croissant. There is easy parking outside and two small tables on the deck that I, as a big guy, would not be comfortable sitting on for long. Inside seating is currently off limits in line with current health orders. They have set up a velvet rope inside so you can keep your distance from the counter but still see everything easily. They also have the place where you put your card in away from the register and a place where they can put your packaged goodies, all of which help to maintain social distancing in a great way. Folks were wearing masks as well, which helped me feel more comfortable. Certainly the best place for authentic patisserie in West Sonoma County and maybe the whole county. If you're looking for a treat to add to a picnic or a meal, these are some of the best baked goods of their kind in the area. I hope they dial back the sweetness, otherwise nothing to complain about and a lot to love.
google avatar

Jean C.

Yelp
The shop is absolutely wonderful. Their baked goods and desserts are over-the-top delicious. The shop is very clean and they are very polite and friendly. I appreciate them wearing masks and asking others to do the same. I'll be back on a regular basis! Yum!!!!!!

Yelp
I am pretty shocked to give Patisserie Angelica a 2 star review. We specifically stopped by Sebastopol on the way home from Santa Rosa just so we could try a few mini birthday cakes for my boyfriend's birthday. This seemed like one of the better options in the area. We tried the mini chocolate beet cake, almond apricot cake, lemon meringue tart, and the peppermint. Out of these 4 items, only the lemon meringue tart was passable and by itself worth 4 stars - tasty meringue but too much in my opinion and the lemon filling could've been more tart and less sweet. Outer pastry shell was excellent. The chocolate beet cake and the almond apricot cake had the same problem. WAY too much buttercream and NOT enough cake. The cake was the star of both but the buttercream completely and utterly killed the whole cake. We said we would be eating the cakes immediately after purchase but were not informed that the buttercream was completely hardened until we already took off the outer plastic peel. Try eating hardened buttercream - it's pretty bad. I wish we were told that we had to let the cakes sit out for some time before eating it - we would not have eaten it right then and there. Regardless, even if we had let it sit out for the buttercream to come to room temp first, the ratio of buttercream to cake was way off. Definitely needed more cake which was actually quite good in both despite the cake being a bit hard as well but overall good texture and the moisture kept nicely. I ended up scraping most the buttercream off and only eating the tiny bits of cake. The peppermint macaron was the utmost worst of all. Like legit bad. The shells were SO hard to the extreme that it actually hurt to bite through them. It had a full on "crunch" sound as I took a bite. I thought the middle would be a little better, nope still full on hard. The minor saving grace was the peppermint filling was decent and had a nice little mint flavor. Sadly, I really expected more from Patisserie Angelica based off the other previously written reviews. That macaron was downright not savable. Perhaps the mini cakes would've been better had we let it sit out first for the buttercream to come to room temp but too bad we were not told to do this. I wish we could get our money back.

Yelp
The birthday cake was beautiful! The ordering was seamless and easy. I really felt they listened to what I wanted and even offered to have me provide pictures of some ideas from Pinterest but I decided to let them have their artistic freedom and they did a great job. Everyone was impressed who saw the cake and we all liked it.

Yelp
I was here with a group of nine for West County High Tea. The tea selection was nice and each guest could have a pot of tea of her choice. All food was good but sweets course was especially tasty The staff was very nice and friendly. I wish they were much closer to where I live so that I can visit more often

Yelp
Our son wanted a tiramisu cake for his birthday... it was delicious! I highly recommend this bakery. Wonderful GF cookies, too! We'll be back.

Yelp
Man I wanted to love this place. We had such high hopes because the photos are beautiful. Instead we found the cake dry, the macaroons really dense and chewy, and the cookies average. The gluten-free brownie is good, but not worth going out of your way for. Same with their version of a flourless chocolate tort. It's good, but not great. The staff is super nice though.
