The Best Bakeries and Pastry Shops in Montreal | Eater Montreal

"This Polish bake shop has been churning out poppy seed and cheese strudels, plum and apricot paczki, and an assortment of other sweets for years. It’s also an excellent spot for charcuterie, ready-made sandwiches, and imported goods." - Daniel Bromberg

The Best Dougnuts in Montreal - Eater Montreal

"Doughnut connoisseurs head to Wawel’s multiple locations around town for Polish paczki. The glazed, hole-less, yeast-based doughnuts are fried, glazed, and powdered before being injected with the likes of plum or apricot jam. They can also be ordered plain, but why would you want that?" - Daniel Bromberg, Ian Harrison, Rose Maura Lorre

Honest to goodness yummyness 😋 Everything tastes like home in the best way possible. Their housemade pierogies are delicate, not thick and starchy, and the plum filled donut 🤯 light, airy, with a simply delicious fruit spread inside. Loved the Krakowska sausage which was perfectly Porky and not overly salty. What a gem of a place, I can't wait to go back and try more delights.

This is nice pastry that serves many different things. However they are known for their donuts (called ponki) and they claim to have the world's best doughnuts. The staff highly suggested the glazed plum one. There was also cherry, cherry and cream, and apple. They dough was fresh, moist and had a good taste of eggs. I would t say they are the best in world but they pretty good.

This is my favourite patisserie ever. The staff were so kind and even put up with me trying to practice my very broken French. We went every day of our holiday in Montréal and each day our breakfast food and coffees were perfect. I miss this bakery already!

Wanted to get a coffee on new year’s eve and this place was opened when most other shops were closed!! They had a huge selection of yummy baked good and their breads were so cheap!

I recently had the pleasure of visiting Wawel after a great game of tennis, and I must say, it's a hidden gem! The salad was hands down the best I’ve ever had – fresh, flavorful, and perfectly balanced. The bread was simply divine, crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. And don’t even get me started on the coffee – rich, aromatic, and just the right pick-me-up! The warm, inviting atmosphere and the friendly staff made the experience even better. If you’re looking for a place that serves incredible food with a personal touch, look no further. Highly recommend!

A lovely place with a European vibe and truly delicious desserts. The staff is polite and attentive. My waiter, Robert, kindly helped me charge my phone while I was enjoying my tea — everyone was so understanding and helpful. I’ll definitely come back for more of those amazing desserts! 🍰☕

Today I visited a Pâtisserie Polonaise Wawel and really enjoyed the atmosphere—the pleasant smell stood out even though the store also sells savory dishes. You can stop by in the morning for a cup of coffee and some amazing doughnuts. But what really caught my attention was the French cake Fraisier. Reasonable prices and great service. I highly recommend it—everything is fresh and absolutely delicious.
