I ran an errand nearby this area and I saw the sign "tamales" and it got my attention. Drove into the plaza and saw the sign clearly and now I wanted some tamales!
This place has no tables or chairs, just a counter and a couple of boards hanging there as their menu. One in English, one in Spanish. It's brilliant: Sell what you advertise, keep overhead expenses and cost low by having no staff, no tables to bus, no staff to pay, no bathroom to clean , etc.
Since I have been disappointed before by tamales I have had so far in LV, I ordered 2 just to try them out first. I ordered green chicken (spicy) and red pork (not spicy).
The green chicken really packed serious heat! The corn masa is finely ground, soft and good but I like them a little on the wet/moist side. The chicken is shredded m, good amount, not skimp , and there were green bits of peppers mixed with it. And holy cow - They weren't kidding when they noted that it is spicy! I had to drink a little bit of yogurt to calm my tummy, lol
The red pork has shredded beef and a good amount too. Good flavor, has enough red sauce so that it isn't dry. The beef is moist enough but the masa was drier than the green chicken. (I inhaled it and forgot to take a photo, though)
Overall, it wasn't bad but delicious. Over $2.50 each but then again, everything is up now.
If you are in the area, craving for some tamales, give them a try!
