Pavlo Mochi - Review - East Village - New York - The Infatuation

"In the East Village, Pavlo Mochi is a wall-to-wall pink shop that specializes in freshly made mochi, filled with things like mango, passionfruit, and raspberry and pistachio. They also have drinks, like matcha with boba, and soft serve. We haven’t been here yet, but want you to know this spot exists." - Will Hartman

Google
((4.25 stars)) squeezed into Avenue B is Pavlo Mochi, a small spot serving a menu of unique mochi flavors, specialty coffee drinks, lemonades, bobas, ice cream and more! it’s a small colorful space which is devoted mostly to the making of the menu and is neatly maintained. tried a number of the specialty coffee drinks. really enjoyed the Vanilla Coffee Ice as it is a subtle coffee drink made of vanilla coffee ice cubes melting in milk…which softens the flavor of the coffee and vanilla initially and then punches through as the ice cubes melting. coffee delivered in a creative way. had the strawberry matcha drink which i also really enjoyed as the flavors came together really in an interesting way—the matcha flavor with the tart sweetness of the strawberry punching through. toured a bunch of different drinks here and they all seem to be served in a sealed drink bottle with a tabbed top (think soda can) and each drink comes with a metal straw. really like this method of serving cold drinks. it’s a nice touch. the owner, operator, chef, Pavlo, offered me a mango mochi to try and i obliged. more silky smooth and soft with only a slight bit of chewiness. the mochi i tried was not overly sweet, but had the essence of mango in the mochi’s filling. the Pavlo mochi is much larger than your typical factory-made mochi that you typically encounter. the Pavlo mochi is also not rubbery in texture like other mochis that i have tried. the menu, here, feels creative and is focused on flavor than sugariness in its drinks and mochi imo. the owner and his staff are friendly. worth a visit if you want to try a dessert drink or eat off-the-beaten-path.

Google
Very great mochi! Unique to New York. No other place I’ve been to around here that has this type of dessert. The mochi was super soft, fresh, and sweet!

Google
Absolutely love this mochi spot! The place itself has a cozy, minimal vibe, and the staff were really friendly. Definitely one of those hidden gems worth coming back to.

Google
Best mochi I’ve had! Such a gem in New York and really cute area in East Village. They’ve done a great job with the atmosphere and also serve coffee. But when it comes to emoji, I love that they use fresh ingredients and everything truly taste delicious, craft made. Absolutely recommend!’n

Google
Such a lovely spot! The mochi here are amazing — perfectly soft and filled with rich, natural flavors. Everything tastes so fresh. The staff are kind and welcoming, and the place feels cozy. Definitely coming back!

Google
The best mochi we've ever had! Selection of at least 7 different types with extra moist, tender and freshly made filling of either homogeneous mousse-like texture (on the photos), or complemented with a red berries coulis (too late for a photo - were too good), featuring a very thin but strong enough rice hada or sometimes overlaid with a hard chocolate crust. This is not a wonder because Pavlo, the owner and the chef, was a winner of the renowned Master Chef Ukraine show in 2019! The branding of the place is also cool (packaging of individual mochi, the 4x multi-boxes and the take-away bags). In summary: highly recommended place!

Yelp
I got the mango and passion fruit mochi and the pistachio and raspberry mochi. So gas, mochi literally melts in your mouth. Mango & passionfruit tastes more refreshing. Pistachio & raspberry more savory and tart.

Yelp
Heard about this place via Instagram and knew I had to make the trip to try this mochi place out. Service is friendly and efficient. The decor is so cute and fun! We got the passionfruit mango, matcha raspberry, banana jam and orange vanilla. I loved both of the passionfruit mango and matcha raspberry, but wish they are firmer, but the flavors are HITTING, both are a bit tart and refreshing while being creamy and sweet as well.

Yelp
Overall, the mochi was good! They had a lot of fun different flavors. I tried the pistachio and mango raspberry. Mango raspberry was my favorite but it was very gooey, almost wish it was a bit colder to keep its consistency. Flavors were overall there! :)

Yelp
Saw this place being reviewed online and decided to try it. Glad I did because the mochi is fresh and service is friendly. The flavors we got were great for the most part. The mango, passion fruit, vanilla one was our favorite, having the right balance of sugar and tart fruit puree. It was followed by the strawberry biscoff, hazelnut, tiramisu, and last was the pistachio. The only complaint we had was the pistachio was a little artificial tasting compared to the rest. The toppings on all of them (except tiramisu) felt a littttttle sweet but I get the desire of wanting to differentiate them and make them stand out.

Yelp
The mochi itself is good. Quite pricey for each item. The store is pretty bare bones and the employees seem a little confused. Mochi itself is pretty thin and the cream is light and flavorful. I got the mango passionfruit and vanilla. Had to take about two bites to get to the fruit compote, which was nice and tart. Overall, if you were a fan of cream, you would love these.

Yelp
The mochi look pretty but is this really mochi? There is no chewiness or bite on the mochi, the mochi itself is super thin, and the inside is a giant swab of cream cheese related items. Not my style but if you are into very cream flavors then sure? Hard to taste the different flavors as well since the cream dominates.

Yelp
Looks unassuming when you walk up to it, but this is Ave B after all... Totally worth it. The raspberry matcha mochi was amazing. So soft, chewy and stretchy. Just melts in your mouth. I did get powdered sugar on me while I was eating it- making me look like I did as much ket as the cashiers on a Wednesday night.

Yelp
Pavlo Mochi is a very underrated mochi and dessert cafe in the East Village serving up some flavor-packed treats. They offer tons of options for mochi flavors, each freshly hand-made daily. We totally devoured the Pistachio & Raspberry, Hazelnut Strawberry Chocolate, Mango Passionfruit & Vanilla, and Banana & Milk Jam mochi. Pavlo Mochi excels at creating unique, balanced flavors that stand out from each other. We especially enjoyed the sweet and fruit centers of the mochi, which add a second layer of flavor to each bite. The drink selection is also a highlight, with super refreshing lemonades and staple coffee options. We loved the bold Espresso Tonic and the light and airy Pineapple & Yuzu Lemonade. This is a must-try spot in Manhattan for dessert-lovers!

Yelp
Best mochi I've ever had. I cannot wait to go back. The flavors are so fresh and the mochi is chewy in all the right ways. Perfect summer treat!
