Google
this place is amazing! we walked in on a whim for a new harness and the staff couldn’t be more helpful and friendly to our pup! plus, we got this personalized note in the mail (so sweet!). def our new go to pet store.

Google
this place is the best! they’ve got a great selection of foods and treats that i would feel confident feeding my dog - great quality products almost exclusively. they also have an awesome program for recently adopted dogs to start them off at their new home with high quality food, treats, and toppers. Kat was super helpful and she made our experience amazing. Tyler was very happy to meet her!

Google
I only visited the south congress location a couple of times, and I have had a great experience every time. Every one has been super nice, informative on products, and even offered samples of kitty kibble for my fur babies to try. I signed up for their loyalty program. It is nice to have a pet store that cares, the owner even sent us a thank you card in the mail with a free froyo coin for my kitties.

Kaelyn Miller

Google
Always so friendly when I go in. After the first time I went in to buy treats for my dog, the owner mailed me a token for a free froyo for my dog with a hand written letter. I thought it was the sweetest thing ever! I live a little far from the store, but it is definitely worth the trip over.

Google
They have a very nice selection of treats, toys, food and accessories for cats and dogs. They have a really nice dog washing station. The people working there were really friendly. I like cute stuff for my pups and this place had a lot of it. Finally found a nice crossbody leash there.

Carly Pinsonneault

Google
Great local pet store with some of the best workers. Very friendly, considerate and always looking to help with my pets needs! After signing up for their loyalty program I received a free froyo chip in the mail for my dog.

Google
I went to the Chicon location for the first time yesterday on Memorial Day. The two individuals that helped me were such amazing humans. I happened to mention we had just adopted our pup and they generously offered so many free products to help get us jump started. I walked out of there with way more information than I had walking in and felt like I had a support system! I will 100% be sourcing all of my pups needs from this store from now on, truly an amazing experience.

Google
I love this pet store and the fact that I can support a local business. Every time I come in my dog and I am greeted warmly. The staff have helped me pick a better food brand for him and I think the prices are comparable to online stores and PetSmart. When I first signed up for their rewards program I was shocked that they sent me a handwritten card in the mail. Thanks so much!

Yelp
I spend way too much money here and I am here for it. Such an ample variety of treats, food, and chews for your furry baby. They also have a section for baths, super convenient. All the way in the back. My boy sometimes gets a little too excited with other dogs and they were kind enough to keep the coast clear last time I was there so my dog and I could go in the store and straight to the bath area without any doggos around. I truly appreciated that. Every time I walk in, always a friendly employee asking if I need help or if I'm looking for anything special. I mainly shop for chew bones, and treats. Mo also loves their ice cream. They offer a rewards program - buy 10 of a qualifying item and you get one for free, or something along those lines. I haven't visited the other location quite yet but it's close to my dog's daycare.

Yelp
Paws on Chicon is my favorite pet food store ever. The owners Tim and Keith train their employees so well that each employee is extremely knowledgeable and can answer questions knowledgeably. I have two Australian shepherds, Annie and Cooper, that I hope live a very long time, therefore I strive to be as educated as I can about their food and exercise. Keith and James are my go to people when I have questions or if my dogs are having any kind of issue. They always know what to suggest and why. I have a puppy, Coco, that I will be sending to my brother, Harreson, in Panama. Harreson wanted to be sure that Coco is on a good, healthy, raw diet. My brother called the store in order to get info. about different foods for dogs. Keith spent a lot of time helping him and suggesting products that would be good for the puppy. My brother was very impressed with Keith's knowledge and awesome customer service. Keith even recommended products that they don't carry as they would be very good for the puppy. I want to also say that, in general, breeding dogs is not something they support at Paws on Chicon, as there are a lot of dogs in shelters who want and need a forever home. In spite of that, when Annie and Cooper had a litter, they were so kind and helpful to me and guided me in best decisions for the puppies. There are so many great things about this store but my favorite thing is that they are not trying to sell you products just to make a sale, instead they want to be of service to the animals and their owners so they can live their best lives. If you've never been to the store, you have to go!

Yelp
First Time Visit from out of town and absolutely loved this place! Brought Zoey with me and the entire staff was super friendly and happy to meet her. Zoey is a lab/pit mix and is used to people having an air of trepidation towards her but everyone was kind and sweet, offered her treats and Zoey was so happy to get them. One of the staff even got a sloppy Zoey kiss to the face after some yummy treats so she was extremely happy about that! 10/10 will come back with Zoey or any one of my other 3 dogs to get more pets and treats to take home! Bought a no hide treat that she finished in the car and some pumpkin froyo that I'll share with the little dogs at home!

Yelp
We've been to DIY dog washes all over the country, and this one's the standout. Also, our Chaco is raw fed, and PoC has a solid selection of biologically appropriate foods. This is now our one-stop solution for Austin. The dog wash operates like a DIY car wash (also a big fan) in that the shampoo or conditioner come straight out of the nozzle (see pic). This saves a lot of time spent alternating between pouring something on your friend and hosing it off. Be aware the rinse setting is pretty powerful. We opted for the leave-in conditioner; the dryer is adjustable for strength and heat settings. Big aprons keep you dry while your pal gets soaked. Staff provided a helpful tutorial, guidance to on-sale food, and general friendliness and enthusiasm. PoC is pricey, but well worth it in terms of service and selection!

Yelp
What a great spot to take your dog! They have really great quality dog products and a really convenient dog wash station. The dog wash station had everything you could ask for the team really made sure everything was thought of to wash up your dog. The staff was really helpful and attentive. The highlight of the trip was the doggy soft serve they have. My dog max fell in love with it and we definitely will be back.
google avatar

Yelp
Great selection of pet foods, treats, and toys. I usually go in to buy one thing for my dog, but end up leaving with multiple items. The dog wash is easy to operate. Staff is really knowledgeable and helpful.

Yelp
My pups absolutely LOOOOOVEEE the froyo Paws on Chicon makes. Favorite flavors: cheese and peanut butter. It's something they always look forward to. We thought we'd try giving their custom made cookies a try as well. The cookies are so fun and perfect for special occasions. Unfortunately, these cookies are hard as rocks and a bit pricey for the quality. Even for my husky, it was challenging, as I had to soak the cookies in order for the kids to eat them comfortably. If they offered cakes, I'd definitely reconsider giving Paws on Chicon another try for the next birthday.

Yelp
Huge thank you to James and rose and Will who took the best care of me and my pup Nike today. James blew me away with his knowledge of the different food brands and with the way he considered options that were in my price range. Paws is a fabulous place with people who are genuine animal lovers. We will be back (soon!)

Jennday R.

Yelp
I wrote a review of this spot when it opened. But it's time to revisit as my pup's relationship with this store has blossomed even further. My pup is a severely, dog reactive, pitbull. But she's also insanely social with people. We live a very strategic lifestyle. Seeking joy, avoiding stress and triggers. Paws on Chicon is the greatest source of happiness and comfort for my pup. All of the employees are aware of her issues and they seamlessly give her immense amounts of love and attention, while preventing her from acting out. Overall, the quality of her life is exponentially improved with the very existence of Paws. The owners treat her like a beloved niece. And James, Lil Keith, Caroline are her favorite friends. Spending money at Paws feels more like a privilege than anything else. And the community service that they put into action constantly, is a true gift to our neighborhood.

Yelp
Paws on Chicon is a cute local spot for furry friends. I like to pop in specifically for the froyo - my dog is a biggg fan of the goat milk based treat. There's a rotating froyo flavor that is served up fresh with optional toppings and a freezer full of to-go cups (cheese, peanut butter, vanilla, pumpkin, etc.) Workers have been friendly and helpful every visit!

Yelp
I love Paws on Chicon! I found this sweet neighborhood pet store when I lived up the street last year. The staff is always so friendly and knowledgeable. They always have suggestions or recommendations when I have a specific need or concern about my pet. They also consistently carry clean and quality products. I always find what I need at Paws on Chicon and continue to come back even after having moved to San Antonio several months ago.

Haley M.

Yelp
If Paws on Chicon was in every neighborhood in Austin petco/petsmart would be panicking. Best little shop in East Austin. I stopped buy all dog supplies/food/treats online and switched to this local shop. Prices are great, employees are professional, dogs are happy, vibes are immaculate.

Yelp
By far my favorite pet store in town! Locally owned and you can tell the owner really cares about your pets! They only carry the products with the best possible ingredients and the owner is always doing a great job of educating the community via Instagram. My dog absolutely loves coming here. We usually let him pick out a no-hide chew and get a soft-serve dog froyo. Like are you kidding - how cool is that? Such a wonderful spot that I'll continue to patron.

Yelp
Paws on Chicon is an adorable local shop that I recently visited for the first time a couple of weeks ago. They have a great variety of food, treats, dog collars, and so much more. The staff are very friendly and helpful as well! And I really appreciated the thank you card I received from the owner after my first visit (you're certainly not going to get a handwritten note of appreciation from Petsmart or Petco--another reason to support local). Thank you, Paws on Chicon! XO P.S. They also support local rescues. Couldn't love them more for that!

Yelp
We love Paws on Chicon, we live a bit far though but whenever we're heading downtown we make sure to stop by to refill our raw food patties for our pup! They have a variety of cloth, toys, cookies and dog food, super recommended. Mr. Keith is the best and he will always have a smile for you and your fur baby :)

Yelp
Heard about this store through a local Instagram influencer and just had to check it out. The past 3 years I only lived near chain pet stores so I was excited to see this place. It's in a relatively convenient area, on a Sunday morning I didn't have an issue finding parking. Going inside the store is filled to the brim with options, I mean types of chews, treats, etc from animal parts I never knew was edible (in the best of ways). They have a lot of small business, USA made products. Plenty of those gross dried animal parts that give my girl the zoomies when I had them to her. We found great duck treats, bully sticks, Himalayan chews, and even some disc chew that was a dried out animal part I'd rather not know (she devoured it quickly). To top it off, we were able to get some fresh froyo on the way out, they had cheese flavored this day. Pretty sure my pup gave herself a brain freeze while trying to scarf it down. The staff were more than friendly, very ready to help out with questions and signed me up for their loyalty program (great reason to go back and get her dog food there - Acana). One thing I'd also like to mention that I have NEVER seen, a few days later I received a handwritten note from the owner welcoming me to the store as a customer and a token for a free small dog froyo - now that is a beautiful personal touch. Something to mention as well, this store is a huge local support of rescues and other businesses. They also are often involved in local events - or even have their own (hello dog drag show on sep 17th) This pet store is truly a lifestyle. Very impressed and can't wait to go back!

Yelp
Awesome awesome spot! The owners care so much about you and your animals experience here. We took our dogs here for the first time to use the bathing stations and it was way beyond our expectations. And then the soft serve for them after a bath is so stinking cute. We ended up walking out of there with the membership plan because we loved it so much.

Hannah R.

Yelp
Such a great store!!! We needed a birthday cake for our pup & they had adorable cakes ready for pickup. Keith was incredibly helpful & knowledgeable when it came to my dogs diets & what they needed. I can't wait to go back!

Yelp
Best self dog wash system. The soap and water come out of the shower head at the same time. Eats to use and kinda high tech compared to other self dog wash spots. Store has loads of treats as well, high end stuff and dog food. Staff is great and I think it's a great value. Like less than $20 for a dog wash. I'm in the neighborhood so I'm biased but it's my go to for sure.

Yelp
What an amazing little shop! I live in South SOUTH Austin and often times we are skipped, in terms of the cute and the local. Read: it's Chain-Land around here. I have heard amazing things from coworkers about the other Paws on Chicon location but never managed to get over there. When I saw they opened an outpost near my home, I was so happy! I have an 8 month old Bernese Mountain Dog puppy and as you can imagine, he's a total spoiled prince. But I mean that in the best way: we want to provide him with healthy and delicious treats to expand his (breed-destined) relatively shorter lifespan, as well as keep him safe, stimulated and happy. Throughout the pandemic we've been working from home and it's important for me to be able to teach our pup to be content being alone, in preparation for when that changes. Paws on Chicon has all of the treats, toys and tips to make everything I prioritized above happen for our sweet puppy dog. The staff was quick to offer advice; they have a trade-in program if you want to switch your brand-name food to one of their more natural ones, and dog washing stations, a huge barrel of my dog's favorite no-hide Earth Animal brand "bones" and local biscuit and even dog-ice cream delicacies.

Yelp
Went to Paws on Chicon for the first time the other week & was VERY impressed! On top of having a super good selection of stuff they also had little containers of kibble next to the bags so customers could see what the kibbles looked like. Very useful for people looking for certain size kibbles! Everyone working there was very friendly and I received a cute handwritten post card a week later in the mail - we will definitely be back to try the froyo! :-)

Yelp
I've been absolutely lost on the best diet for my extremely picky 30 lb senior rescue dog and they were unbelievably helpful. He spent tons of time explaining the best diet and what to watch out for and even sent me home with a bunch of samples "instead of throwing a bunch of expensive stuff at me that she won't eat". I really got the impression that he cared about her well being and the most cost effective way to get her on a healthy diet, rather than just trying to sell me a bunch of stuff. I was buying so many different types of food that she wouldn't eat that what i settled on buying there wasn't any more expensive than the "premium" garbage they sell at HEB, and the first ingredient was CHICKEN, not CORN!! James was amazingly attentive, friendly and super helpful and really knew his stuff. Lucy Bear LOVES his recommendation, I will be back and am happy to find my new Dog Food supplier! Plus it's only a mile and a half from home!
google avatar

Grace L.

Yelp
This is not a drill.... The cutest and best place to shop for your pup! I recently got a 9 week old frenchie and the gals here (specifically Hope!) helped out a ton. I've got my lil girl on a great clean diet and treats based on their recommendations. Couldn't get any better! Also the goat milk is superb for puppies or sensitive tummy doggos.
google avatar

Bike R.

Yelp
Awesome store! Happy about a neighborhood pet supply shop, and not a chain. They carry some of the best and harder to find brands. I even saw some new food brands today, and so I bought a new air dried kibble brand to try out, and we loved it! Will be back for more, thanks:)
google avatar

Yelp
This small local Austin business has turned into our go to store for our fur babies (French Bulldog & Siberian Husky). The staff at these locations are always welcoming even when their busy they will slide in a welcoming gesture. Don't know what to get for your pets? Got an idea but not sure? The associates are always glad to assist with your decision making process in order to best fit the diets of your fur babies, always highlighting the products benefits for the pups. We have tried a variety of their products from dried products (necks, chicken feet, etc) to bone broth, froyo, kibble, and toppers. Our pups love it all. Additionally we use their showers for the fur babies. They literally provide you with everything but if you do want to bring additional items you can.

Nolan S.

Yelp
I cannot even begin to word my appreciation and love for this shop. Ever since we wandered in one random Sunday, we have never even once thought about trying anywhere else for food, treats, and toys. Everyone who works there has an amazing energy and smile for every customer. I cannot recommend this place enough.
google avatar

Christine Y.

Yelp
Central east Austin has been needing a local pet supply shop and I'm thrilled to have Paws on Chicon here! Keith, the owner, is amazing and knowledgeable about each product he sells. There is quality treats, food, toys, supplies here that you know your dog will love. +Easy access with front door facing Chicon on the northeast corner of the intersection (12th and Chicon) +Easy street parking out front +They carry beloved brands like Nulo, Polkadog, Tricky Trainers plus local brands Check them out and bring your dog!
google avatar

Taylor M.

Yelp
Paws on Chicon has a large selection of high quality dog foods and cat food as well. I really did not know what to look for in a good pet food but I certainly do now. These guys know their stuff. They've got dry food, freeze dried food, and raw/refrigerated food. I also loved their super cute collars and had to get one for my pup. This collar came with a matching bracelet for the owner to wear so you can have a friendship bracelet with your dog. How adorable is that?! If you have any specific needs for a leash, this is definitely the place to go. They have leashes for running and clipping leashes that are great if you take your dog out to bars and restaurants. FINALLY a great pet store on the east side! So glad they have a loyalty program because this is where I'll be buying all my dog and cat food!
google avatar

Tommy B.

Yelp
These guys have the best self-wash dog cleaning station I've ever seen, and I've used a ton! It's easy to use (ergonomic heights so it doesn't hurt your back), awesome water pressure and easily adjustable temperature, and the drying feature is top notch. Keith was super friendly/informative and just an all around great dude. He gave my pup a peanut butter suction cup to lick while using the shower as well! Oh, and a coconut Waterloo for me! Haven't bought food from here but have picked up a bunch of treats and chewies and puppy ice creams and they're all great value! It's always a treat seeing biz owners truly care about their business AND their customers.
google avatar

Annie H.

Yelp
Great locally-owned pet store! Everyone on staff is very friendly and seems to be really great with animals, unlike at bigger, national chain stores. They never hesitate to help you out with a recommendation, even Keith, the owner, when he's at the store. The staff has helped me pick out new food for my older dog, who is a super picky eater, and age-appropriate treats for my puppy. Also, they have this fresh dog froyo that my dogs absolutely love.

Georgia S.

Yelp
The food that we get here is great quality, all the staff are very knowledgeable about the pet food, and they deliver to the neighborhood. Our dogs and cat are very happy!

Yelp
Paws on Chicon is an East Austin neighborhood staple. We bought all dog stuff online until we stepped foot in Paws for the first time. Now, we only shop here! Our dog Samson is super shy / scared with new people and places, and doesn't love pet stores, but he absolutely adores Paws on Chicon because the staff are so incredibly friendly, know how to act around dogs, and are so helpful. We bathe Samson here using their self-wash rooms, which are amazing. Samson only needs a bath every 3-4 weeks because the wash is so good and they use awesome products. Their selection of foods, toys, treats, etc. is top notch, and you can tell they work really hard to source only the best. Not to mention, they have HOMEMADE GOAT MILK FROYO for the puppers. To top it all off, the owner, Keith, is committed to being a solid local business owner. When the Austin Marathon passed by the shop, he stood out front of the shop all day handling out waters and snacks to the runners. If you haven't checked out Paws on Chicon, you definitely should. You'll feel proud to support this local business.
google avatar

Thuy N.

Yelp
Lovely pet store! There is a nice selection of quality pet food, various treats, toys, and adorable clothing for your fur babes. The owner is friendly and knowledgeable. There are even various samples of food pebbles in a small clear canister so that you can see the pebble size which I found to be a thoughtful detail. We got our boys neck bandanas with hardware to hook their dog tags on to comfortably wear around the house and some hoodies made locally in Austin. Bonus that my boys also had a great time stopping by!

Yelp
Came in for the first time just before the holidays for a few doggie Christmas gifts. As an introvert, small shops with overbearing personal attention can make me uncomfortable, but Keith and his Shiba pup were welcoming and helped me choose the perfect treats without too much assistance. You can tell Keith really cares about pet wellness and is knowledgeable about the products he carries. The store itself is small, but well-stocked and clean. I appreciated some of the small, thoughtful touches: free human cookies in-store, a shopping bag without a logo on it so I could reuse it for gifting, a gender neutral restroom, and there's even a little pet photo op spot out front that Keith mentioned would be changing with the seasons/holidays. I was happy to support a new(ish), local business and will be back in the future next time I need dog food.

Yelp
I'm so grateful for how friendly everyone is at this shop. I have a young corgi puppy and there were a few times I had to leave my apartment and due to the current health climate and the puppy not being fully vaccinated we were stuck in my car driving around Austin. Rushing out of my home I forgot the puppy's treats and bully stick. Luckily I was able to call the store and pay for a few items over the phone and pick them up via curbside and we even got a nice sample of froyo for the puppy. I'm super grateful and I am now checking if Paws on Chicon has the items I need before resorting to Chewy, Amazon or other major retailers.
google avatar

Yelp
We LOVE Paws on Chicon! Keith is the absolute best! He really really cares about all of his customers and he always remembers us when we stop by. He has also done some incredible things for our community during the COVID outbreak, including collecting dog food for shelters, masks for healthcare workers, and non-perishable food for those who needed it. Best pet store in Austin and it's LOCAL. Thanks for all that you're doing Paws on Chicon team! Best, Bennett, Gabby, Turkey, & Kobe

Grace K.

Yelp
I love Paws on Chicon!! Keith and his staff always greet me like I'm a close friend, know my doggos name, food and faves. Keith is very selective in what he stocks and will always give me a couple really good reasons why he carries the brands he does. He is so knowledgeable and requires the same from his staff. My doggos love the froyo and searching for treats and I love the customer excellent customer service and free loyalty food program. He stocks local vendors when possible and champions neighborhood businesses. During the polar vortex he even opened up the store with no electricity (unable to take payments) for people who had run out of food and donated pet food, making it available at other businesses food giveaways so only one stop was necessary. If you didn't know, now you know!
google avatar

Dan G.

Yelp
This is such a cute local pet store! I ran in for just a few potty bags but when you're a pet parent and only spend money on your dog, you obviously buy more. Paws has such great products and the staff is super knowledgeable. Everything from raw to allergy specific food is available and tons of healthy treats. If you're in the area and need dog/cat stuffs, this is your place. Plus I haven't used their shampooing station, but I will definitely be back to use it!
google avatar

Janice S.

Yelp
Just finished giving our 2 black lab mixes baths here and it was an amazing setup! We usually do the dog wash services at Healthy Pet, which is also amazing, but this is a step above. The soap dispensing system is so great, like a car wash! The ear cleaning wipes that were provided were so great I bought a pack. They also give the humans beer or wine which was a plus while waiting for a dog wash to open up. Will definitely be returning.
google avatar

Yelp
Paws on Chicon is my (and my dogs) favorite local pet supply store. They have a self service bath station with the coolest shower. The shampoo and conditioner are built in to the nozzle, so you don't have to worry about scrubbing. They provide all you need. They also carry anything and everything you could possibly need. From high quality food and treats. To dental, ear and eye wipes. Also collars, lashes, bandanas, harnesses and more. I love that they carry items from local small businesses for your animals too. On top of all that, they make soft serve doggy froyo! And, Mr. Keith hand makes froyo moon pies! I couldn't recommend a better place get supplies and goodies for your pup. The staff are awesome. Go take your pup for some doggy soft serve!

Molly M.

Yelp
Best pet store ever! Tons of great food. Owner is really nice and everyone there is extremely knowledgeable about the products they have

Patricia R.

Yelp
We used to visit the Paws on Chicon on Chicon street, and love that there is a closer location to us on South Congress. We currently live in Kyle, TX so it makes it easier to get to the store. The variety of treats available are amazing! I feel confident I'm not giving my dogs extremely processed foods. I love the raw bar that we can fill up on. My dogs have extremely sensitive stomachs and they never have issues with the froyo or any treats from this store. They know when we get to this store, they are getting froyo. The employees and owner are so friendly and try to help as much as possible. Also, when there was actual snow in Austin, the owner was available so much to provide food for dogs since many other were closed. The location on Chicon street has a cute outside picture area, the location on south Congress has a beautiful indoor picture area. Check out Paws on Chicon ASAP!

Yelp
I cannot say enough good things about Paws on Chicon! The staff is incredibly friendly and knowledgeable, they have a fantastic selection of good, healthy pet food and treats, and they truly care about their customers. After my first visit I received a handwritten card in the mail thanking me for my patronage - what a nice touch! I chose Paws on Chicon because it's in my neighborhood and I wanted to support a local business, but I'll keep coming back because of the service. Keith and his team are fantastic - go check it out!!
google avatar

Grant N.

Yelp
Dropped $1k on gear. A near $50 harness broke in normal use outside of return "policy" and the owner proceeded to blame my dog for chewing it as the cause instead of owning and fixing the situation. Tried to over argue a customer to win a power play after that. Might work in the short run but soon everything will be sold online anyway to avoid these customer service disasters. Sad.
google avatar

Soo Jin L.

Yelp
Keith and his team at Paws on Chicon are very sweet. They make sure you and your furry friends are well taken care of! Also, check out Major Darling's Martingale collars at Paws on Chicon, really really love their color palette!

Yelp
Paws on Chicon is everything a true pet store should be: fun, bright, kind, and filled with love. Plus, with a ride range of real pet products. Keith, the owner, is so passionate about what he does and all of the pups and parents that come through the store. They carry local brands (shop local!) and healthy alternatives to the cookie-cutter food most pet stores have. Seriously, this is the cutest, sweetest, most amazing pet store in Austin. You need to go check it out. Our sweet pups Cooper and Apollo give it their paw of approval.

Yelp
I recently moved to the east side--far across town from my old neighborhood dog wash. This place is walking distance from my new home and is loaded with great products. They have reasonable prices and the owner Keith takes great care of his customers. A++ service here!!

Yelp
LOVE THIS PLACE. Their self serve dog wash is the best I've ever been to. And they offer you beer while you wash your dog! I loved that they had a private room so your dog isn't distracted but other pups. I also bought a toy here for my Great Dane... which unfortunately didn't last longer than a day. But I will be back for the dog wash!
